I'm trying to synchronizise with the exchange server at my work.
But for some reason it doesn't work. I've filled in everything in the right way (address, domein etc.) the fault code is 80070002.
Can somebody help me with this?
same here at home (no firewalls)
Works fine for me. Exchange server needs just some configuration.

What kind of configuration?
First, your Outlook Web Access (yes, OWA!) can not use forms based authentication nor SSL encryption. If you don want to use these (you most probably want to use SSL) then you need to create another virtual OWA directory without SSL and force ActiveSync (and Outlook Mobile Access) to use it.
More information at
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;817379
Check if you can access OMA (Outlook Mobile Access) using http://yourserver/oma and check also Exchange server logs.
I thought this wasn't supported on WM5 until AKU 2.0 comes out (hopefully soon)
So ur saving I have to turn Forms authentication off and ssl off on OWA for my mobile device to work ?
sounds a bit of a poor show.
I need Forms based auth ideally as it goes through firewalls where as the other type does not.
Ours works here and we use SSL.
For the server name make sure you are using the fully qualified domain name that you use from the internet. IE: mail.domain.com. You don't have to put the /exchange on the end.
username, password and domain are all the same as what you use to log in.
OH, and the certificate you use on the server should be for mail.domain.com and not servername.
Hope this helps.
@spartanrob: DirectPush needs AKU2.0. You have always had possibility to sync manually. Or if your operator provides e-mail to SMS then you have the same functionality already today.
@Karzi:
No, I'm not saying you have to turn off SSL and/or forms-based auth., but you need to create another virtual OWA directory, which does not require SSL and forms-based authentication. You can limit access to this directory to localhost only so there will be no security concerns.
@MrHappy:
Your server is probably set up in that way.
Please go read this it helped me with the same error
http://hardware.mcse.ms/archive35-2005-11-248477.html
Basicly says that you have to download the cert from https://server.domain.com/certsrv then install the certificate on your desktop and your handheld then activesync will work....
I was hesitant but it worked for me.... it changed the path in the cert from my ip to my server.domain.com
Mail2Web Live is having a beta testing for their new exchange PushEmail for mobile phones account: http://services.mail2web.com/FreeServices/m2wLive/
I tried signing up but in the process it tell me "You're too late"
HAve you managed to sign up? If so how please?
>>>Actualy I managed to sign up using internet explorer. Firefox kept giving me the "You're too late " message.
It seems to work great. Give you Opinions on the services

If you spend too much time on the page filling out the form, you'll get the "too late" phrase. Just fill out the boxes quickly, type in the security card and you're off to the races. Push works flawlessly BTW.
work for me
works great, thanx!
Hi, where is the push email bit? I can only access teh standard web based email service.
Thanks

I can't find the beta push area either. Hmmm...
looked around...
only can see the web-based mail portion...
is the push e-mail a purchased add-on or something?
Since the device has push capability with the AKU 2.0 ROM, there is not a "push" section on the site. It is simply part of Exchange 2003 SP2. If you'll open active sync and hit the add server option, then you just type in mobile.exchange.mail2web.com. Fill in your user name, password and check the secure connection box and you'll be set to sync whatever info you want. Then go to the Comm Manager and push the button with the envelope on it. This is your push function. You'll see the GPRS connection start and any message sent to your account will immediately be pushed to your device.
Is there a way to change the reply-to address using this account? Also, is there any way to forward hotmail to mail2web? Thanks a lot!!!
MJB
I think you have to pay for that through Hotmail or other provider.

Thanks, man. Working great now.
Cheers.
One drawback is that the push only works with data connection (GPRS) but not WIFI.....
I think they have some agreement with the service provider to make people spend more for GPRS.
:?
Cheers,

Works for me on WiFi too
Resolved. Seems like the email server want to be imap when accessed by HD2. I have it setup and working as pop3 on ALL my other email clients and it works. It finally worked after I tried it as imap on the HD2.

I'm having trouble setting up an email account to check. I have all my settings correct and I've checked this a dozen times. I always get this message:
Messages cannot be downloaded to your mobile device. Make sure you are connected and that your e-mail account settings are correct. Then, try to download messages again.

The status says 'Error Sychronizing'.
I've also tried changing the 'Network connection' in the Advanced Server Setting of the Email Setup.
The pop3/smtp server is just an ip address, but I don't think that should matter. It works in all other programs and Android.
Any ideas? This is really frustrating since this should be a basic function of a smartphone.
i guess you are setting your email thru SENSELESS...been there before, but guess what?
you have to set your mails in windows otherwise it won't work !!! go to start, email and set your setting in wm mode (remember wm 6.1? same interface!) hehe
don't forget to check all the dropdown menus
as i had experienced, setting emails is very easy in palm and android(nexus one)
here its a bit complicated

I actually did set it up through the 'not pretty' email app. I did get my personal email account which is imap/smtp to work. However, I rather have my work email account working..
I'll check my personal email account through pop3/smtp servers in a bit.
what server does your employer use? hotmail?
We host our own email server.
I thought it was the fact that mobile outlook didn't like the pop3/smtp server as an IP, so I mapped wm hosts with a name for that IP. Opera will pick up on the hosts change and go to the right place. Unfortunately, mobile outlook still gives me the same error.
I was able to log into imap and pop3 server for my personal email, which is on another server.
After having been connected to my company's MS Exchange server on my HTC EVO for over four months, I was prompted to change my password on the domain (on my PC) and since then, I've not been able to re-connect with the new password.
I tried deleting the account and rebooting my phone and re-creating the account from scratch, but whenever I try to re-connect, I get the following error message:
Setup could not finish
Unable to open connection to server
The IT guy at work put in his own credentials and had the exact same problem.
The interesting thing is that I downloaded a trial of Touchdown for Exchange which uses the same credentials, and that seems to connect fine. I have no idea why one works and not the other.
Does anyone know what might be happening when I try to connect by adding a new account?
My suspicion is that there was some change in the Exchange server settings that impacted me once I changed my password to reconnect, but would like to hear other theories.

I for the life of me don't understand why I can connect to my exchange server using a third-party app (touchdown) but not using the native email app.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
If your company made any changes to their exchange server, then you need to figure out exactly what is needed to connect. I have setup 10 different android phones on our exchange server, and the settings to connect were different on 5 of them. We also had 3 of them that were on exchange 2010 instead of exchange 2003, and those settings were even more different.

+1. I've spent hours with IT and with Sprint and nothing. I got this from Sprint to help my get it going, so I will post here in hopes it will help you. They sent me this link:
http://community.sprint.com/baw/message/208942
And this email:
"The only way to fix this issue is by having access to Active Directory on a server with Exchange plugins.
Go Active Directory Users & Computers (Enable Advanced Features if needed)
Open the properties of the user that is having the issue
Click on the Security Tab
Click the Advanced button
In the Default Permissions tab check the box at the bottom for "Include inheritable permissions from this object's parent"
Wait for AD to propagate (5-10 minutes) "
The info on the link I was not able to try because it required changes being made to the server that my company would not allow. The email info they sent me did not apply to me because the server at my job was already set up that way.
Good luck. I gave up getting the native app to work right. I don't know why something that should be so simple is such a mission.
Not sure if this will work or if you have tried it but. Clear the application data/cache from the applications menu in settings.
For you server, did you put in "owa.mycompany.com" or "somethingelse.mycompany.com"?
It sounds like this might be the problem. You need to have your owa server listed there instead of the exchange server for Outlook.

Yes, I gave that a shot: connect.companyname.com
Thanks for the suggestion though.
I have been trying to get my work email set up on my phone. My company only supports the bb phones that they provide for certain employees. So, I am on my own to find a solution. I do have access to check my email via OWA and have been able to do so on my phone using Opera. I have read several places that I should be able to use the OWA credentials to set my email up using the default email client. But, I can't get it working. It allows me to complete the set-up without issue. But, when I try to send/receive it gives me connection error. Based on what I have read if I can login via my mobile browser I should be able to connect using the default client (i.e. IT has allowed mobile access) I am going to post what I did during the setup to see if you guys can identify what I may be doing wrong.
Domain/username: I put the username I use to login to OWA.
Password: my password
SSL is checked
Email adress: my email address
Server name: url for OWA, with https:// taken off. The address is webmail.mycompany.com
When I hit "next" it gives me an error and asks me if want to turn disable certificate verification, I hit "yes"
It then goes to the next screen which says "Success!" at the top. Then I hit "done"and setup should be complete.
But, when I go to that email and try to refresh, it says connection er
Anyone have any ideas?
Have you tried other email apps from the market? I use K-9 mail and it has been solid for IMAP. I know it supports other email systems too.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
I tried one (might have been k9) and didn't have any luck. I was hoping someone had experience with a specific app. I tried Googling it, but all I could find was people recommending touchdown.
