HAve you managed to sign up? If so how please?

If you spend too much time on the page filling out the form, you'll get the "too late" phrase. Just fill out the boxes quickly, type in the security card and you're off to the races. Push works flawlessly BTW.

work for me

works great, thanx!

Hi, where is the push email bit? I can only access teh standard web based email service.
Thanks

Thanks

I can't find the beta push area either. Hmmm...

looked around...
only can see the web-based mail portion...
is the push e-mail a purchased add-on or something?

Since the device has push capability with the AKU 2.0 ROM, there is not a "push" section on the site. It is simply part of Exchange 2003 SP2. If you'll open active sync and hit the add server option, then you just type in mobile.exchange.mail2web.com. Fill in your user name, password and check the secure connection box and you'll be set to sync whatever info you want. Then go to the Comm Manager and push the button with the envelope on it. This is your push function. You'll see the GPRS connection start and any message sent to your account will immediately be pushed to your device.

Is there a way to change the reply-to address using this account? Also, is there any way to forward hotmail to mail2web? Thanks a lot!!!
MJB

I think you have to pay for that through Hotmail or other provider.

Sent a test email to the new mail2web account, but nothing pushed to the phone ??

Thanks, man. Working great now.
Cheers.

One drawback is that the push only works with data connection (GPRS) but not WIFI.....
I think they have some agreement with the service provider to make people spend more for GPRS.
:?

Rom 2.26 - Direct push in comm manager greyed out

I just updated my phone from the 1.08 rom and in the comm manager I now have a 'direct push' button but it is greyed out. Any way for me to use this feature?
You need an Exchange Server 2003 with SP2 now that your phone is Direct Push ready with the Messaging and Security Feature Pack (MSFP) with this ROM upgrade. If you don't have access to an Exchange 2003 server I believe that Mail2Web can be used, though I've no knowledge firsthand. And I'm sure there's others, just use the <search> here or google it.
Good luck!
yes, it is possible to use this feature with this rom (I am). the first step is to get access to an exchange server. If you do not have a corporate exchange server, I would recommend trying it out with the free service from mail2web.com first (this is what I use) simply b/c it is free. If you need more features later, you can always upgrade... To start, go to activesync on the phone. Go into options and click configure server, and enter your server details (can be found in help on mail2web, or from your corporate IT department) Make sure that it is set to sync as new items arrive... That icon you saw in the menu should be in color... If not click it to enable push...
The way I use it is I have gmail forward a copy of all incoming mail to the mail2web email acct. the phone syncs with the exchange server automatically when I get a new mail. I also sync contacts, tasks, and notes...
Remember that this remains connected to the net at all times, although not using much data, and it auto downloads new mail ect... so if you don't have unlimited data, I would watch it closely, at least to start off...
I would definitly try it out, personally I love it. I hope this helps and if you have any problems please let me know. Lastly I wrote all this on my wizard, so please pardon any spelling or grammer errors...
i planned on using mail2web, but the button is greyed out. wouldnt i needto be able to select it to set it up?
As Starcruiser1229 said, configure in ActiveSync. Direct Push button is an On/Off toggle while ActiveSync is where you configure.
I have my own Exchange server and am not familiar with hosted servers but maybe here at http://services.mail2web.com/FreeServices/m2wLive/ you'll find what you need.
Good luck.
yes, they call the service mail2web live... I wish I had my own exchange server! anyway, good luck with the setup and if you need more help just post...
thanks a lot. sorry for my misreading. im gonna try it out now. thanks.

can't connect to any POP3/SMTP site that requires the use of SSL.

I recently got this email from att yahoo:
Dear AT&T Yahoo! Member,
We're making some security improvements to your AT&T Yahoo! service. These changes will affect members who send or receive email from a desktop or mobile client program, such as Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Outlook Express, Eudora, Apple Mail, or Thunderbird.
To help us ensure the security of your email, you will need to change the settings on your desktop or mobile email client program.
you may take the following steps to change the settings on your desktop or mobile email client program:
Open your email client program.
Locate the email account settings for your particular client.
Change the POP server to pop.att.yahoo.com.
Change the SMTP server to smtp.att.yahoo.com.
Check the option labeled Use an encrypted connection (SSL) and change the SMTP port to 465.
Check the option labeled Use an encrypted connection (SSL) and change the POP3 port to 995.
Confirm the above settings then click OK.
I already tried my first comandment "Thou shalt not ask before search!" but alas I can't seem to find how to change ports on e-mail set up. I'm running wm6 but I don't know if wm5 had this abbilty as I didn't need it then. Any help would be great!
So, mabey I should have posted under wm6 & titled the post photon question. At the very least somebody would reply to flame me or something. lol
I had the same problem. Turned out to be the operator. They do not offer full Internet services, only WAP and unencrypted e-mail (i.e. no SSL). The problem sorted itself out after switching to another operator . . .
Add a colon then (port #, no spaces) after each in/Out server. That is how I have it set up with my 8525/ wm5
Thanks, I'll give that a shot. If not I guess I can open a hot mail account and forward email till att fixes the auto set up in August (per the "help" desk)

Connecting to Exchange Server

My company runs an exchange server for email, and I was wondering if anyknow knows how to connect to them, using the mogul. I went through the setup on the phone, with no success...Are their any additional steps required to connect to the server when you are not on the same network as the server?
Missing Certificate ?
I think you'll have to install the certificate from your Mailserver on the phone to get it working.
Do you get any active-sync error code when you're trying to sync ?
In general you get an error-code in ActiveSync which is telling you what's wrong...
IMHO the best idea would be: aks your IT-Stuff in your company
you need to add a server in active sync with your companys exchange server addy and your username/password
To be clear you need to enter your companies OWA server address. At most small companies this is your Exchange server and at most large companies it is your ISA server.
Example:
You access OWA using https://exchange.mycompany.com/exchange
You enter: exchange.mycompany.com in the activesync settings and you use your username, password and domain to authenticate
You also need to make sure Outlook Mobile Access is enabled on the Exchange Server and on your Exchange Mailbox. You will need to contact your IT Admin to verify these settings.
I'm in the same boat as the OP. I had been trying to hit the mail server directly or via VPN, with no luck, probably due to no certificate. Never thought about OWA. I set this up as indicated in the prior post, and checked 'Tasks' only (just to run a quick test), and it sync'ed fine. I then checked email and calendar, and now it takes me to a company sign-in web page (same page I encounter when using web access to OWA). Weird thing is the page is in the ActiveSync window and does not appear to be rendering correctly or completely (e.g. no 'submit' button). Nonetheless, I sign in and click where the submit button "should be" and the page goes away and it appears to start syncing, only to take me back to the sign-in page again after 15-20 seconds. Any suggestions on how to get past this point? I've tried logging in to OWA from IE, but ActiveSync still brings up this sign-in page. And yes, I've got my userID, pswd, and domain properly set up as well. Thanks.
BTW, my company IT won't help because they only support handheld access for specific company-issued devices.
try using mail.yourcompanymailserver.com/oma
its a lightweight version that handles easy in mobile browsers (only if your IT guys have enabled it)
as for the OP your exchange settings could vary depending on how your admin set it up, ssl (requiring a certificate) or not. to get the certificate from your company you can dl it from the server mail.yourcompanymailserver.com/cersrv
you log in using your mail credentials and you select download certificate chain and select a der 64.
save it to your phone and just install.
chances are though if your company is using a lot of treo's they dont require ssl because you can't install self issued certificates on them (good work palm). so if you want to ask your IT guys their setup and post it here i can try to walk through it with you.
this is my situation and how i got it to work.
Although i tried to internal address of 1x01po2s.domain.name, that didn't work.
I thought about it for a while, and reasoned if i can access my companies exchange server outside the network through a http://mail.domain.name address, then maybe that'll work hahaha
BAM! it did and now it works perfectly fine. Conincidentally, since i started trying to get this going last week, i emailed a few guys i know and the last one who got my email (it was forwarded to try to solve the problem) said that because of security policies, i am not allowed to do this. Ooops!
Here is a quick run down of my settings:
server address: mail.domain.name
ssl is selected (checked)
username: exchange/nt workstation login name
password: user password
domain: network domain (we have different domains)
save password is selected
under advanced you can select whatever options you like
next select e-mail, and any other options you want
and you're done!
I also enabled the push email icon and get my email regularly on my phone throughout the day.
Well, i hope that this helps some of you out.
server address: mail.domain.name

just so folks know there is no standard for this, its whatever subdomain your company decided to put OWA on, for my company its webmail.companywebsite.com
best thing to do would be to ask someone in your company how to access email from outside the office using internet explorer, thats the address your lookign for
Sprint mogul (Titan) WM6.1 Rom update killed exchange server activesync
(Sorry in advance for the long Email) I purchased a Mogul from RS about three weeks ago. For the first week, it worked great! I logged into my company exchange server down loaded and synced email, cal, contacts, tasks ... was very excited. I also got very excited when I started t read threads in this blog .... it seems like there are some pretty smart members maybe someone can help!!
Noticed that there was a new Rom (Sprint TV and improved connection) installed the ROM.
Have spent endless hours with HTC technical support, sprint technical support (not an appropriate name). At times managed to get the email to load but never again Cal, Tasks, contacts. Always able to get sent emails to load (by checking option) . I'm left with a couple of alternatives (any others would be greatly appreciated (actually I really like this phone but I need my email, schedule, etc to work) The error is 0x8503001C there is no exact description about this from MSmobile it seesm to be an awh**** code. Searching on the web provides 1000s of hits unfortunately not just my issue.
o Go to an early Rom WM6.0. So far it seems like to do this I need to unlock the phone then flash the earlier rom?? Since no SIM card I need to hack the registry?? There are several products out there which is best (I do not mind paying for somethng that works well). I down loaded several "Oficial ROm versions ... unfortunately did not write down the number of the one the phone came with.
o Find some way of getting this thing to work well to keep the extra features
o My grace period ends in a week ... cancel with Sprint go to Att but there is not a 3G phone I like ... only Iphone ... it has issues for exchange server??
o I got my wife a Touch at the same time (it runs WM6.1) same issue. Downloaded once my corp email no cal, etc.
o I was told that this Rom was cooked up by MS & Sprint what a disaster
Please, please help ... Thanks in advance

Exchange email and Skype not working after Upgrading Sprint Touch to Wm6.1
The Exchange activesync died at connection and never can sync my company emails after I upgraded Touch to 6.1 Sprint/HTC ROM. Skype also does not work, no sound after first ring, even with 2.2.0.45. I like the GPS and Rev.A speed, and do not want to risk downgrading the ROM. Anybody encounter ssimilar situation?

You can set up e-mail accounts with hotmail (Microsoft Live), yahoo, gmail, etc.
The yahoo account should be set up as an IMAP type account, although you can manually set it up as a POP account.
I would suspect that you are having the Exchange account prompt is that you have selected 'mail' when you ActiveSync your HD2 with your computer. Thus the phone is trying to connect to an exchange server when not connected to your computer.
ok..sounds good so can you give me some steps..where to do what..just the general steps..not for every provider
Much appreciated.
so first open outlook on mobile(or!?)
2. do tjis

So what to do now? to make it possible?
Go to the email tab in Sense and go Menu, Add Account. It gives you plenty of options, or you can just go to "other" and enter pop3/imap information that way.
thnks..will try.

[Q] Push Email on Galaxy 3

Hi,
I am using Galaxy 3 I5801 with Android 2.1.
I browsed the internet and found confusing opinions about push email on my device.
All I want to know is:
1. Can I use Push email on my Galaxy 3 just like I use on a Blackberry
i.e. I pay a fixed charge for unlimited email receiving and sending to my service provider(airtel) on my device. However, this charge does not cover any Internet browsing (GPRS) charges.
2. Can I configure my corporate email account (not gmail or yahoo) on to my phone using push mail?
Hope my question is valid and understood.

yes you can, in the email app. i have my college email configured (had it on eclair and have it now on jpb)
there are also other apps that support corporate accounts, like k9. though i havent tried any
thanks for the reply
thanks for the reply mate.
what I understood out of this is that
1) I contact Airtel (my service provider) and ask them to activate push email on my connection and tell them the plan that I want.
2) configure my corporate email account on my galaxy 3 using K9 or like application
Is this the way to go?

Im not sure about step 1, since I am not in the same situation (I dont have a special service for email - I use "regular" internet). I do think that if you are already paying for it that you dont have to, but you there is no risk in contacting airtel, is there, so why not contact them?
I am , as well, facing issues configuring my corporate exchange email account on Samsung Galaxy 3 I5801.
1. I have a monthly GPRS plan (from Vodafone).
2. In order to configure the email account, I entered the email id and password,
3. I opt for the exchange account option.
4. I enter the domain\userid and password ( password is pre-populated)
5. I then enter the outlook web acess URL of my corporate exchange server and then it tries to get the incoming server settings. Doesn
t work - Get an error message " Unable to open connection to the server"
6. I then re try with the exchange server details ( as configured in my PC outlook client), it tries to get the incoming server settings. Doesn
t work - Get an error message " Unable to open connection to the server"
7. I have tried with all combinations of uppercase / lowercase - no luck at all.
8. Interestingly the google mail which gets auto-configured works well !!!
Can I get some help please ?

My experience:
in the email app:
1.add account
2.email addres:
[email protected]
Password:
********** (you are not getting that )
3. next-> exchange account ->
4. I then get:
Domain user name:
\borisivan.babic
Password:
**********
Exchange server:
student.fsr.ba
use secure check
accept all not checked.
5. I change
domain user name to
[email protected]
and
Exchange server to:
pod51007.outlook.com
and it works for me.
Dunno about your exact server setup, so you might have to put something else instead of pod51007.outlook.com however, if it is from microsoft try that.
Thanks mate !
Tried the "pod51..." server details too , unfortunately it doesn't work, I will have to check with the system admin team within my organization to get the server details.
