I noticed it yesterday at about 6pm and it's now about 12pm noon the next day and I've had "no service" this whole time. I've read a few reports around the web of outage in california but it seems hard to believe it would last this long with a big fuss on the internet. My phone was working perfectly fine before and I didn't make any changes to it recently either.
Perhaps my sim card went bad? It's not telling me anything about a bad sim though, and I can still use data over wifi.
Turns out I had a bad sim card, Tmo replaced it free and now my phone is working fine.
On a side note, the Tmo guy was asking me questions about Cyanogen rom for about 10 minutes, but he says he's too scared to try it himself.

Ok, I've had an 8525 unlocked for about 3 months now... Unlocked and used on t-mobile's network...
Until recently, I've had 0 issues with my phone from what I can remember(now running PDAs v20 windows 6.1 rom)
My problem is, during the day, in my room I recieve any and every phone call that comes in, calls never drop or hang up, BUT the call seems to cut out for about 5-15 seconds and then cut back in.. even though it says I have 4 bars.. in my kitchen with 4 bars, I get all my phone calls, but can't hear people (nor can they hear me at all)... I get emails, and browse the web fine.. but can't use google maps app (can't find my location until I leave lol)
I don't know what's up... at night, when I'm in my room, my phone works fine with no cutting out and in during calls, but during the day, that's when it wants to act all crazy... other t-mobile phones work perfectly fine in my room... my old sidekick also worked fine..
when I'm anywhere else in my city, my phone works fine (even with 2 bars)
I know nothing about how cell phones work when communicating with cell towers so any help someone can give me will be very helpful as I do not want to catch an aneurism calling T-Mobile themselves for help (though I doubt they'll help me since I'm using an unlocked ATT phone on their service lol)
Also... sometimes txt messages come and give me a time like it's in another time-zone... usually this happens when I'm out of state roaming on a different network (Immix in central PA for the most part) but now it seems to be popping up even while I'm home in NY...
any ideas?
seems like some kind of interference near your home...could be a carrier tower or even your TV? You could check with tmob if others in the hood are having day issues...
not sure what radio version u have, but u could try flashing a different one...
I've tried numerous radio's but having the same issues... it's some kind of interference in my house I guess.. I just can't figure out what it is... I called up t-mobile and was embarassed when he said "oh u have an ATT phone" lol he told me to switch sim cards with someone else on t-mobile in my home to see what happened... but.. no progress... I unplugged my wifi router to see if that would help but it didn't
I just find it completely odd that my service craps out on me in my room ONLY during the day... and it never did this when I first got the phone.. I'm completely lost... good news is, it only happens in my house...
Could be someone close by has just invested in a piece of equipment that is causing interference.. Might not be just in your place...
yeah, another thing that MIGHT be causing the interference is that they have been doing a lot of road work in my area... that could also be why it happens during the day but not at night... my kitchen is a different story, but different radio's have gave me different reception... with some radio's... it fades out completely and with others it'll fade out for maybe a second or 2
or it could be my neighbor who recently had a stroke, I guess there might be some machines in there.. who knows
I tried the latest radio and it yielded the best results in my kitchen so far but man oh man does it burn battery when I'm on the phone
I'm having the same problem...well as far as the text msgs go so i called tmobile last night and they took me off the network and placed me back on and since then I havent had any problems
Update: I put my GF's att sim card in my phone and went to all my "dead spots"... even when the signal bars were down to almost 0, the quality of the call was still clear and it wouldn't fade in and out during a call... Does anyone know if there's anything T-Mobile can do? Because I tried my moms sim card in my phone (t-mobile) and gave me the same crappy results (calls fading in and out at full 4 bar signal)
I woke up this morning and had no phone service....so i restarted my nexus and my phone service came back but with no data connection....anyone else have this problem?

Carrier? Have you checked if they have problems?
Tried your SIM in a different phone?
Tmobile is the carrier..now i lost my signal all together....I dont have another phone to try my sim out on
ok...so both data and service came back for about 30 seconds...i got two white arrows going around in a circle like it was updating something then i lost all connections again and says emergency calls only
any ideas?
ok...i have this weird folder on my sd card named .android_secure...dunno where it came from looks new to me
data signal lost here
Hey, I'm having the same problem here, no weird folder in my sd card though. Went to bed last night everything was fine, woke up and my apn list was wiped.... I reset everything in the apn and still no data connection but I have service. I'm running the latest Cyanogen mod stable for nexus, almost seems like an update was attempted last night and since i"M not stock things went crazy....
Call t mobile and see if there is a data outtage.
I had no signal for like three hours last week.
tmobile uk? mines down too. manchester area.
sim cards do go bad.... i had this happen last year... maybe go to tmobile and see if you can get another if there are no reported outages.. the probably wont even charge you if you go to a corporate store
so i called tmobile and they said they knew what it was...had to turn my phone off for two minutes and still waiting to see if it worked..but i dont know why the sync or update arrows were showing up on my notification bar. sure hope it was Froyo passing me by

where are you, uk or usa?
I've had something similar happen to me as well. This was a few weeks ago. I live in Chicago, and use T-Mobile for what it's worth. I ended up pulling the battery for a bit and rebooting. I got the data connection back.
Sometimes though, the data connection will seem to hang a bit and I'll see the flashing arrows and sync icon as well. It seems random, but the last time it happened to me was yesterday.
back
It must have been a localized black out here in Washington State (US) because my data connection came back on just now after 3 hours of being shut off. For awhile there I only had edge and no 3g and without me doing anything 3G and H have connected back on.
Well that's good. The optimist in me says that the outages and weird issues are related to the upgrade of HSPA+ for us Let's hope it's true.
I had the same problem in WA. Data has also been restored here.
:crying: I have looked at other threads before posting but don't have my answer. My new (this is 3rd day) Defy XT555 says it "cannot connect to server" or "webpage not available" or it just never goes anywhere- just like an image of a 'wheel' turning until I get sick of waiting. I've been on the phone with straight talk and nothing has worked so far. They finally told me to return it and I reluctantly brought it up to the Walmart. The people there were messing with it and it started working! I think it was on the wifi mode. I had internet in the store and until I was almost home and lost it. I have a wireless router for the computer that has a password that I don't remember, but I thought this was the problem. I turned off the wifi setting on phone and it still won't work, turned wifi back on and went to work today. I went to a much bigger town and halfway home lost all internet again. I have alternated between having the wifi on and off. Straight talk insists that the phone should be working in my area and they said there are no problems on their end. I really want this phone to work. I researched phones before buying and this had all the features that I really wanted. I just haven't wanted to give up. Not only because I had so much anticipation for this phone I couldn't hardly sleep waiting for it to get here, but I've also spent almost $60 on accessories for this phone from Amazon- all from differant sellers, and it's not worth sending back because a lot of the expense was in shipping.
I do live in a somewhat rural area, but really not that far out at all... I read that cdma was better in rural areas, plus I had a Sprint phone several years ago that used to work great here, and had a gsm At&t that didn't. My daughter used a straight talk phone here before and says it's the only one that works here now and now apparently that doesn't work either- or I just got a lemon? I'm getting tired of this and feeling pretty ripped off. I'm afraid to order another one just like it but I haven't wanted to give up on this phone. Any suggestions?
Hello, First time poster, and quite frankly a noob at a lot of this. Here's my issue, i have a at&t Samsung Galaxy S4 that i recieved from a family member that was stuck in a serious boot loop. Only way i could get it to come back was to flash the stock firmware, which worked excellent....now my issue, it seems like about 98% of the time i have the "No Service" icon up top. I got the phone locked through at&t but have since unlocked it to use on Straight talk, as thats what i was originally advised to do by an at&t member (turns out I didnt even need to do this in the first place as ST is just using the at&t towers as a reseller). Unlocked phone, still no service. I had ST previously in a Galaxy S2 in my current location and service was superb, so i know its not a carrier issue. Is it possible that when i flashed stock rom, that i missed something? I checked around and it seems like my modem is updated to the latest setting. When i switched it to ST after about 30 minutes the signal popped up and it seems like as soon as it showed up, it was gone again. Since that point i've been able to make 1 call (I activated ST about 4 days ago) and that call was today, with only 1 bar of reception. Shortly after that call the signal dropped completely again. I am at a complete loss as to why it refuses to get any reception. I was thinking maybe the modem needs to be updated, but the wifi works perfect, and the reception seems to show up (just as 1 little bar) rarely. Anyone have any ideas?
Also, as a little side note, i have done a hard reset a few times and to no avail at fixing the issue. I assume since at certain times i do get the little "1 bar" connection that its not a hardware issue but a software issue thats withholding the phone from reaching potential reception. Any help would work wonders as i've paid the $60 for the BYOP Straight talk.
Which firmware did you flash as the latest firmware is 5.01 and there is no stock rom from att for this version.

If your wifi is working perfect, then modem is not your problem. I have never used Straighttalk but you mentioned that ST is using the AT&T towers so there might be a problem in your simcard registration. Call the ST customer service, tell them your problem and ask them to reprogram your simcard with your phone IMEI. See that would solve your problem.
I've tried everything to get my phone to get network working again. I've re-flashed old and newer images, got a new sim, messed with the APN settings and I just can't get it to work since yesterday.
When it started, my phone was sitting on charge. It was working just fine before I had put it down for 30 minutes. Upon checking for any messages I saw it wasn't getting any service so I restarted the device and was greeted with the 7.1.2 july update installer. Waited for it to finish and once fully back onto the home screen for a few minutes service still never came back. Turned it off and on a few times and turned airplane mode on and off few times still never came back. Turned it off for the night till today when I started playing with it more, factory reset, flashed 6.0, 7.1.2 june, 7.1.2 july, O beta 3 and none of it was getting the network to work.
Went and got a new sim, guy at the store also tried a floor sim and none of them were working but both my old and new sim do work just fine in a backup phone. The 6P reads there is a sim in and it knows its AT&T, but it won't pick up signal at all.
Any help with this? There really isn't much on this topic, but I do see a sim card no installed issue which my phone knows there is a sim card in it.
that happened to a nexus 6p i bought from a guy off craigslist. at first it worked with tmobile and metro pcs then after a few weeks it stopped working but i had switched to cricket anyway and it worked on cricket but not on tmobile or metro, so then i checked imei and it was black listed,.... being that it was a BYOD it wasnt bound to any network so i was like why would it be blacklisted... didnt make sense but i stayed with cricket and to this day it works..

I just checked to see if it was blacklisted and its good. Google & Huawei won't service it due to it being out of warranty so rn its pretty much a dead phone for me. Is there is any tests I can run to see if the network radios are working or even turned on?
I had this exact same problem a few months ago with my other 6P. Thankfully it was right before my warranty ran out so i was able to get a replacement, but as far as I know, there isn't much you can do with it network wise.
@MadBullBunny could it maybe be the antenna inside? If you've tried other carrier Sims and flashed different radios what else I wonder. Since it's not working maybe worth a peak if your comfortable opening her up.

I really didn't want to go that far and I rather just dump it on craigslist for $250 if its just an issue with at&t. is there some sort of test to see if the antennas are working?
have you try resetting your network settings? this has happen to me right after a update and resetting the network settings fixed it for me. i'm on project fi.

Dude... Not trying to be rude, but really?
Anyway I've been waiting for a response back from google. Huawei pretty much told me tough luck since I didn't have warranty left on it. Told google that I was pretty much shoved out by them and argued that a phone not even 2 years old can't get serviced by a multi billion dollar company is pretty embarrassing. Supposedly its being routed up but I was told that a couple days ago when it was going to take 24-48 hours to get back. Right now I'm trying last ditch effort to drain the battery completely and stick it in some rice to possibly suck any possible moisture out that maybe my butt sweat caused. If this doesn't work I'm going to go to other service's stores and ask to try their sims in the phone out.
Fun tip: My phone is been running in boot mode for almost an hour after it turning off from android os for battery being dead. I've been doing random stuff in boot mode trying to make it die completely and it doesn't want too.
So being back and fourth with google for almost a week I was pretty much told tough luck buddy. It fathoms me that a company who created the android OS doesn't even have a service center or require its manufacturers to provide a service center for phones that aren't even more than 2 years old.
My nexus 6p is posted on craigslist and I've bought myself a s8+. so word of warning to you all who buy any google product or from them, just don't. If you have any issues you'll just get a run around. I've had to tell my issue to google at least 20 times and they still didn't care and kept trying to push me to hauwei when neither of them wanted to help.
