I cannot be the only one with this problem, please help me out so i can enjoy my nexus one fully. I just got this about two weeks ago.
The problem is my nexus keeps rebooting randomly, and it does not matter which rom is installed.
My phone is rooted with 2.1-update1 firmware, baseband is 32.26.00.24u_4.04.00.03_2 (ORIGINAL RADIO THAT CAME WITH THE PHONE), build number is passion-user 2.1-update1 ERE27 24178 release-keys. Plus i always have about 180mb ram free and 90mb of internal space free. Also i am using APPS2SD with a class 6 card.
I have noticed it happening when using a specific app for a while, example using navigation, or playing a game, or listening music. Example where it does not do it is if i am checking my text messages or email, because that is something i check quickly then get out of the app.
Also i am not sure if i should start a new thread but it does apply here, if i use the car dock my phone will reboot within less than 2 minutes of using an app compared to if i use the phone by itself it will be about 5 minutes.
Here is what i have tried so far, I installed the three common roms for the nexus, enom-cyanogen-modaco (always doing a wipe before trying new one). I replaced the battery. I reformated multiple times the sdcard using RA_amons tool.
Now when i got my phone it already had the latest radio, so i left that alone. Is this why i get random reboots? should i flash cyanogen radio?
The phone does not reboot by itself on stand by mode, only when using apps.
PLEASE HELP SO I CAN ENJOY MY NEW PHONE, THANK YOU.

Try turning APPS2SD off.
Good idea, i did not think about that. But also in all the threads on xda, i have not found anybody mentioning getting reboots because of apps2sd. The reason i say this is because i really need to have this on, i ran out of space when i first got my phone and started installing apps.
A bad SD card might cause that, regardless of whether the Apps2SD partition or the vfat partition is affected. Might be more problematic with the Apps2SD partition, though. Try another SD card.
it happens to me using slacker on any rom... so i moved slacker to the internal memory.
remember apps2sd isn't technically stable. while it works for most apps, there are some apps that just aren't compatible.

I am a big user of slacker radio, and is one of my software i notice making my phone reboot.
How do you move just a single app back to the internal memory even though you have apps2sd?
Just to try to narrow this issue more, i have notice something odd.
when i turn on my gps and use google maps or copilot, then try to multitask and use any app that plays sounds or music it will make my phone reboot.
Also i have noticed with the car dock (without having gps turned on, if i try playing music using any app it reboots the phone. I have seen other people mentioning this, can someone confirm using the 3.5mm headphone jack while the phone is in the car dock will reboot the phone.

About a week or so I've been experiencing a new problem: the SD card becomes inaccessible and none of the applications installed on the SD able start (obviously). Soft resetting my HD solves the problem, but only temporarily for a few minutes. It really let me down a couple of times when I needed my SatNav app the most.
I'm using Laurentius26's v4 custom ROM. All I can think of is formatting an SD card. Any other thoughts?
Try some recovery software on your PC to get off as many files as possible then re-format. They can become corrupted over time. You might want to get another card though, as they only have a limited read/write cycle and sounds like yours could be slowly dying if it's been used a fair bit. If fairly new then if it was me I wouldn't trust it with my data and I'd buy a new one.
So Ive spent all day going through a lot of threads and posts and stuff, about the HD2 rebooting a lot and the only possible reason i could find was the memory card wasnt supported. its the stock 16gb class 2 that comes with the usa hd2, but im pretty sure it works because before i activated the live services everything was perfect, after i activate them, it reboots every couple minutes, anyone find a fix for this or any tips? ive tried formating the memory card, reflashing the phone, updating the radio, everything.

I had the same problem the first time I ported WP7 to my phone using the same stock 16gb class 2 card. I suggest you restart the process.
-Reformat your sd card (I did a quick format)
-Reinstall WP7
-Follow the exact steps to enable market. When moving the file using Touch explorer, remember to copy the file and not cut it..on my first attempt I made a few mistakes and I ended up cutting the file into the windows folders. Suddenly my phone started to restart itself every other minute.
-All apps that I've tested on the market works including netflix, youtube, weathebug.
-Zune transfers and playlists works like a charm!
After following these steps, WP7 has been running solid for almost two days!
I hope this helps.

interesting...i will try it again..
all we know stable is the most important factor, even than the market
I have this same problem. I rather doubt that copying-vs.-cutting or cluster size has anything to do with it, particularly as WP7 will reformat your SD card itself on first boot. Your problem probably became more pronounced after using Live because the SD card was being used to store the additional data/settings.
My opinion is that we have "bad" (perhaps insufficiently speedy) SD cards (I am also using the stock 16GB TMob USA card); haven't had a chance to test my theory by swapping it out yet, though.
.....connected to my laptop all the apps I have located on my ext SD card disappear which I understand but when my Atrix is unplugged the apps I have stored don't reappear on my home screens.
They have to be manually put back on.
Does anyone know why this is.....it's doing my head in.
I'm running the Alien 4 rom with Faux123 kernel if that matters.
Cheers
Paul

I don't understand why people move apps to sd on a phone that doesn't need it.

For the same reason you cant access anything else on the SD card when in storage mode, the OS has to unmount it while the computer has access, thus you cant use anything on it including apps, this is normal.
To the first reply, cause I want to and to the second, read my question again. I said I know why they disappear when connected but don't know why they don't return when the device is unplugged.
Never had the problem on either of my 2 desires and wondered if it was Atrix or maybe ROM specific.
Don't post unless you can help. Thanks.
Ah i missed that part :-(..... In that case no idea never tried it as I have 1.2GB free of app storage.
Do they appear in the apps list?
Tried restarting the phone?
Tried a media scan (not sure if it will pick up apps)
Sounds like your ROM is not scanning the sdcard after remounting it.

No probs Nap and thanks Dennis, tried it mate but no joy.
Looks like I'll just use internal storage for ease from now as it gets boring adding them all back after a while.
Thanks anyway tho
you could always buy the dual mount SD program, best .99c I have spent so far. It allows you to mount and still access the sd on the phone. it is very helpful for me.
I had an issue with my ringtones that are located on storage being jacked up during mounts. the issue would occur when I had a notification, call, text, anything that made a noise that used a custom tone while mounted to a PC. After unmount the notification would either revert to default or choose a completely random tone.
I downloaded dualmount a few months back and that issue was resolved. I havent had to reset my notifications except when I flashed to CM, and I can live with that
need your advice on this, I've just unbox my Galaxy Note few days ago, it keeps rebooting itself, one time I was copying data from the SD card to the other storage in the phone suddenly it reboots. I've had unknown reboots. Now using XXLA4 and seems doesnt solve the issue. Any ideas or suggestions?

1 Does it happen after you load your applications or on a clean Rom as well? Could be a app that's causing it.
2 the xla 4 install could have been a bad flash. Did you check the MD 5?

so now at the moment my note is in constant reboot mode, don't know if I should let it, I haven't root my devices yet I tried every method available on this homepage but doesnt seem to work at all. I tried installing some games on my note this morning, it failed to download and ever since that it reboots all the time. Any suggestion?
Edit: Now it stops rebooting when I plugged in the USB charger but it says the temperature of the battery is too low or too high and it doesn't charged

welcome to the club, i am in the same boat.
my phone works fine all times without sd card but sometimes goes crazy (restaring / freezing constantly for 7-8h non stop!) with sd card in situ.
some of my apps are on internal 1.9gb memory, some on internal 11gb memory, some on external card. trying to figure out how to force on stock unrooted device to force all apps to internal memory (1.9gb or 11gb) to prevent these issues. or will try new card. my old card works fine on my htc desire. dont know if the htc folders present on sd card are causing soem issues
have tried with apps2sd pro and stock app mnager to move apps to internal 11gb memory. but the phone has a mind of its own and some stay on 1.9gb internal memory some go to 11gb internal memory and some go to external sd card and i cant seem to force moveable apps to internal 11gb memory only instead of sd card as mentioned in the other concurrent thread today on this topic.
Hi,
I also had similar problem like this. It appears that the Android Program at times cannot seem to access the Ext SD card program/s installed and that will cause a reboot and repeated so.
I really do not why this is happening? It will seem to work fine ant reboot when the Ext SD is removed - but those programs installed in the Ext. SD will no longer be accessible.
There is a hidden folder in the Ext. SD ".android_secure" which contain all the programs transferred to that Ext. SD. If you empty this folder of it programs by transferring them to your PC and reinsert the Ext. SD card, it will function normally and you can access your file like photos, videos, music, and ebooks. But you will not be able to access your programs in the Ext. SD.
I had tried un-installing the apps in the Ext SD and re-installing them into Phone memory it will work but it will not transfer to Int. SD (the 11 GB) and keep informing me there is no Ext SD. This of course will eat up all the 1.9 GB of the Phone memory, which is not what I had wanted. Although I still have a lot of memory in the Int. SD (about 8 GB) it will not transfer there, why I am not sure.
Can some of the Android expert please look into this problem and advise. Thank you.

Hi,
How do you make sure all the Apps are located in the Internal SD?
I have an Ext SD and some apps are transferred there. I cannot transfer these apps into the Int SD.
I uninstalled the apps and reinstall them without the Ext SD and then try to transfer to Int SD. It will not transfer and a message "you do not have an Ext SD card"
Will appreciate any assistance. Thank you.
I don't have any apps installed on the internal SD nor external SD, I notice this that everytime an app failed to complete (eg loading) it goes to looping reboots. The last one I was playing some game something called mission, cannot remember the game name, it was loading all the time then I decided to switch it off and turn it on again. It goes constant reboot. I need a good phone which doesn't rebooot all the time ...

Do you think this is worth to try? Since I am planning to go to Samsung today and saw some posts that it has possibility an error on the CPU. I have a couple of friends who also have the Note and nobody has the problem like I do ...
Edit: Oh and I did the factory wipe last night too but it still doing the reboots, finally I plug out the battery, plug it again and leave it for a half an hour then it stops rebooting ...

Its seems like you had an issue with leakage current on cpu. Its caused the battery drain fast and heat up. The only solution is to change the main board. Well, this is use to happen on htc phone. Not sure on sammy phone

yeah my phone also used to reboot after some time... the problem i found was the installation of an app called es file explorer... i disabled the app and it works flawlessly...so some of the app on your phone might be causing you the problem...

Well sent the phone back to Samsung, I think this is what happen to me, excited what the result would be from Samsung ..
Hello all, I'm newbie to forums and Android world.. After reading lots of related stuff for months, I have to ask for help.
Recently I've got an HTC HD2 with 512mb NAND, flashed it, updated radio, etc.
Now, I am trying to use Android JellyBean. Because of 512mb internal memory, I have to use NativeSD or NAND+DataOnExt. Well, I tried different ROMs in DataOnExt mode, for example, latest one is NexusHD2-JellyBean-CM10.2 V3.1.
Every ROM I tried, behaves like this:
1) Installs OK (clockworkmod recovery, install zip, etc.)
2) First launch OK (google account, basic settings)
3) Then, random processes (even "android") start to crash - or not, it takes random time to start lag and crash everything.
For example, on ROM NexusHD2-JellyBean-CM10.2 V3.1, when I am trying to open apps list, sometimes (not always!) shell chashes with message "Unfortunately, Trebuchet stopped working". Almost any app (filemanager, camera, ...) show same message after launch, sometimes the message is "Appname is not responding. [wait] [kill]".
Also, when I press "red phone" button to lock phone and power off display, it takes 30s-1.5m to show lock screen again. This is so damn frustrating! Moreover, display turns off (without turning on) after 30s delay, so I have to push buttons to see the lock screen!
I use 16gb class 10 SD card: 14gb FAT32 + 2gb ext4. Tried to use swap partition, but no difference. Different cache size (on NAND) - no difference too.
So, what can you suggest? I am sure HD2 _CAN_ run JellyBean (with CM or not) without such crazy lags! So, I am doing something wrong...

No, I checked speed of this card, it seems to be class10. It has no bad blocks, scanned twice.
Why do you think problems are related to card?
Because I'm seeing nothing wrong, I'm trying to rule out what might be the cause.
It's not about the speed or bad blocks, it could be the brand itself. Try a different card.

Well, thank you for advice, I'll try different card and write up here. By the way, I think the problem is linked to slow response from "data" partition: when I remove the card, system boots and works perfectly (without most of apps lol).
But I can't understand the behavior of screen lock. It works fast when I remove the card, what the ..magic? Is it somehow connected to caching running apps or something like that? I am not sure I understand Android's idea of caching/swapping apps in memory..
UPD: Replaced card with another one, WHOA, it works like charm! But I have no idea why. Both cards are Transcend's 16gb class10. And also I have no idea how sdcard affects lock screen (wake up). So, I am still curious

And most likely, you never will. Heck I don't even know myself. If some experts could shed some light, that'd be appreciated. I cba googling that.
I just know that sometimes the device refuses to work well with a card, but work very well with an almost identical card; for no apparent reason.
This is definetly my personal "WTF of the year"
Thank you for figuring this out, I could spend weeks wondering WAIDW!
