SIM unlock from Orange RO - HD2 General

hi.
After some weeks of struggle i finally unlocked my HD2 from Orange Romania.
I still don't know if the online sites that sell unlock code and provided wrong code used a generator or got it from some htc database but in both cases something is different from other HD2.
Conclusion:
Some sites and some unlockers suggested/said that Orange Romania may had changed the code so normal HTC codes don't work.
If you have a HD2 locked to Orange RO your best bet is a phone shop who provide unlocking services.
Journey this far:
- i think that code can be entered 5 times, each time increase wait time. i still need more info on it so if you can help don't be shy.
- ebay code for £6.9 - wasted attempt, try 1st time as is cheap but make sure you video it. you may get garbage code instead of refund.
- htccode.com - PM 3 times ferraripassion and got a wild goose link to htc desire forum , left a support question - no answer. they may be out of business.
- unlock-now.com for €25 - no code got refund in couple of hours, worth a try.
- unlockallcellular.com - $34.95(~€27) i think they are USA based so i had to wait because time difference. got same wrong code again. good live support tho i expected more details on why it does not work after long talk and mails i sent. also their page on t8585 suggests that a rom update will wipe attempts count. it does not.
- local unlock shop - ~€20 finally unlocked - used a box to get right code, code completely different from one provided by online.

hi.
please don't tell me that was discussed before, i know i read a lot on the topic but to no help.
i got a great 2nd hand hd2 that is 1mo old not to be under contract with orange and i expected to be as easy task to unlock it as was with tg01. i was so wrong.
i bought unlock code from ebay seller cellunlockland but didn't work, he was fair and redounded my money but also told me that i probably only have 10 tries. i wasted 2 on his code
another member here said that too new and my IMEI is in a new database and i have to pay ~50USD for it witch i think is a too much.
i hope someone can help and provide a good code seller that will work guarantee and with decent pricing (in tg01 is vitamise witch for £11 never failed).
i also hope that someone can tell me how many code input tries i have and what happens after that. i read couple of days that someone got in trouble for trying to many times but can't find more info on it.
thanks

unlock-now.com
Ive mentioned then in at least 3 threads.
But you would have known that if you had used the search!

this post implies that there is a 5 try limit to unlock with code. can anyone confirm or infirm that ?
@unlock-now.com i said not to say it was discussed before. if you would have read you would see that not everyone has had success with unlock-now.com
also other said they unlocked with code bought on ebay and look what it got me 2/5 wasted attempts. also their response time seams high an refund time even longer (correct me if i am wrong). also €25 is not exactly cheap compared to £7 witch it costs on eBay.
i would prefer someone active here on forums whom i could PM and tell just old code that did not work. if i have 5 tries now way in hell i am entering that code again just to get it on tape.
if the device is new and manufactured after certain date and in a new database or something then maybe other peoples who have phone from same batch or newer have same problem as me while.we may not find a answer on a thread started on dec 2009.
also i was hopping that someone could tell me if i have to wait for some time. i read that operators only give codes after 3 months into contract or something like that.
what is wrong with having options ? after all is not that why we are here on xda ?

I got mine unlocked on eBay for £6.99 can give you the details if you like

Well my friend you read the posts, digest the information and make your own mind up. Its a free choice so go where your intellect and assessments take you.
Its the way we all learned "the true path" so good luck with your quest.

Surely spending 25 euro (which is then refunded if no code is found), is better than wasting those attempts by 'saving' and going with an eBay option which doesn't work?
Thats like saying you'd rather have a car with no fuel tank than one with, as it'll save you a few quid.

the ebayer seamed honest and refunded me, i think he honestly believed he had a right code.
i was the stupid one because i tried twice because i read on forums that one got it right 2nd try. i thought i was to excited and miss typed it 1st time. with tg01 worked like magic couple of weeks ago and also tg01 doesn't have a try counter. i didn't worried for a moment with hd2 till after.
€25 is not that much but i got a feeling that i will get again a your phone is in new database you need to pay double.
also if i get 44875764 again i would have payed for nothing as will not input that again.
i am in no rush and can wait couple of months for phone to be in regular database, also i am ready to pay €15-25.
is nice to feel free but not when you pay for it a arm and a leg. or to be more explicit i don't need it unlocked but i would like to know it is unlocked.

gave unlock-now.com a try. got a "Code not found" response and a refund in couple of hours.
any other recommendations?

Daaam...
And for me its really vital to unlock it..since I'm moving in couple of weeks..and my phone is still on french orange..and now u got me worry..
Some suggested this http://debloquer.planetemobile.com/debloquer.php?marque=HTC
..its in french..and since u from Belgium..it wont cause a problem..

ahh..sorry..u're not from Belgium..

here, could you give me the details for the unlock for hd2 on ebay? I'm locked to vodafone, ireland, want to go on O2

just search htc hd2 unlock code on ebay.co.uk
if you get a wrong code as i did don't try anymore, you have only 5 attempts.
make sure you record on video the whole operation and imei on back of the phone if it fails.
don't try more then once with ebay codes, i wasted 2 of 5 attempts.
i am still looking for a fair provider to unlock my phone. i think is better to get a "code not found" and a refund then waste 1 (2 if you stupid like me and retry code) attempt on a random code because seller thinks you may not have video it and he got to keep freaking £6.9

tried unlockallcellular.com
got same 44875764 again. 9 hours time difference caused me some frustration but in the end got a refund.
see 1st post for more details.
it seams that my pone is cursed and i am doomed to review every unlock service out there.
any suggestions ?

What country did the phone come from I bought my HD2 from t-mobile in the US and the called customer service and asked them for the unlock code told them I was going to Europe for work and they are emailing it to me haven't tried it yet because I just called yesterday to get it should have it tonight and will let you know if it works

finally unlocked it at a phone shop who provide unlock services.
orange ro seams to have changed htc unlock code.
see 1st post for more details....

Touch HD unlock code

Anyone got this with instructions since many websites are selling it!
Can you help me unlock (CID and SIM) my Touch HD?
Thank you for you advice in advance.
unfortunately not yet free, you are going to have to dish out some dosh to line XDA's wallet
I recently bought an Orange Touch HD and am on O2.
Someone is selling unlock codes on eBay for £16 or best offer. I offered £12 and got a counter offer of £14 which I accepted.
All you do is insert a SIM for a network which is locked, and the HD will ask you for an unlock code.
Pop in your 8 digit code (I had to type it in twice) and the device is unlocked. SIMPLE!
I ended up using HTCCODE ,recommended by an xda senior member ,it was a great service and I got the code in less 5mins.I think I paid 16 pounds.
i UNLOCKED MY ORANGE htc touch hd , the day I got the phone last week! got the code from htccodes , paid 18euros which is nearly £18! the pound has really got weak .
put a old contract t-mobile sim in the phones entered the unlock code , twice , you shouldn't enter it more than twice as it could mess up! was unloced quickly and easily .
Now I have installed software on it , al i need is sat nav prog , any1 know which is the best , and works well with the touch hd.

this isn't the iphone you know, it doesn't need unlocking before you can install programs on it
i also used htc codes. excellent service via msn, answered me at 730 in the morning and had my phone unlocked within ten minutes!
I used http://www.unlock-now.com/, as I did before with my Elf, and have always had exceptional service. Entirely recommended.

IMEI number problem...
Hi, sorry to reopen an old thread but i didn't think adding yet another unlock thread would be any better!
I'm just out of contract with Orange UK and will be moving to O2, well actually GiffGaff now since i've just discovered it but that's beside the point!
Anyway, obviously i need to unlock my phone first, however, i see this is done by using your IMEI and buying a code but I'm not sure which IMEI is the right one.
I've had the phone repaired 2/3 times and each time i've had a letter saying the IMEI has changed but when i dial *#06# i get one number, but the most recent number listed after it's repair doesn't match, neither do any of the old ones including the one behind the battery and on my original box.
I don't want to brick the phone by using the wrong one!
I even had trouble when i phoned HTC ages ago for one of the repairs, none of the IMEIs were recognised or something.
Any advice?
Hi, so i eventually noticed i was being a bit stupid and my IMEI after *#06# IS the same as the one behind the battery, but with 01 added at the end!
So i ordered an unlock code from an ebay seller and was told;
"Unfortunately we have not been able to calculate the code for your imei as your phone has the latest security and can not be unlocked using this service. we have sent you a mutual agreement not to carry out transaction. Please agree to it and we will issue full refund. If you still wish to Unlock your phone please have a look at this Item number: 110559753460"
The other item is just a more expensive unlock for newer devices i think, no response yet on whether they can get me a code at all if i were to buy the other item.
So, OK, maybe i should have used the unlock site mentioned somewhere on here but i tried to save some cash, sue me
Anyway, is the seller just talking cr*p or could the repairs and IMEI changes have caused my phone to have different security or something?!
I know i've not contributed to the forum a lot or anything but i'd really appreciate some advice. Thanks.
thanks vijay555, just done the same, well worth £15.00

6 months later, O2 still haven't provided me with an unlock code.

Hi. I first filled in the online unlatching request form at the end of january. It has been resubmitted three or four times since by o2 themselves, along with at least a dozen calls from me to them, escallation to various managers and departments, and 160 days later, , ,still no unlock code.
I know o2 outsource their unlock code generation (probably to htcunlock.com or some such) and that such pay companies have had trouble in teh past generating codes for some IMEI numbers.
If this is the case, do i have any recourse to get a replacement handset, with an IMEI that can be unlocked? (i doubt it, but gotta ask, , pretty sure the UK has no 'you must provide an unlock code' laws.)
Failing that, anyone know any good phone numbers to contact/harras people that can actually get stuff done at O2?
cheers
Sam
I haven't lived in England for quite some time but the two magic words ("trading standards") always used to get things moving from what I can remember...
Cant say the same for me, i asked O2 for an unlock code on 18th March and one did not arrive inside the 30 days turnaround time they mention. I mailed them on the 23rd April about the lack of code and they told me my IMEI number provided was wrong and id need to provide another, i did and one day layer i had a mail with the proper code.
Check the IMEI provided with them, im sure you already have but for some reason it took me 2 times for them to recognise it even when i know i sent the same IMEI the first time.
EDIT :- forgot to add. yeah its not law for them to provide an unlock code. Had the same issue as you with my iphone, never did recieve one, good job the hackers sorted me out
yea i suspect the issue is with the imei number, , , specifically the fact that it is two digits too long, , , i'm guessing the donkey @ the desk isn't removing the last two digits before running the lookup.
Indeed, and i quoted that to them on the second mail i sent, a day later it was resolved ..
huh, just called them to confirm the imei they are trying to use doesn't have the extra 2 digits, to be told their system is only seeing 15 digits anyway, and the tech basically told me i must be doing something wrong, and that IMEI numbers are only 15 digits, so i can't possibly have an extra two digits at the end.
I'm thinking microwave and replacement is looking like the best option.
I think id take a pic of the hd2 showing the 17 digit number and mail it to them and ask for another donkey to be assigned to the case as he obviously does not have a clue. Confirm to him how hard it is to do something wrong while typing *#06# to get the IMEI ...

Been with them for about 5 years, get all my phones free, even got a £15 credited when they blocked me after my bank screwed up my direct debit.
Even get 15 month contracts instead of 18.
Pretty sure my HD was already unlocked, I was able to use it on Orange.
Haven't checked my HD2 though.
finally, after 5months and two weeks my unlock code finally arrived,,, great 28 day service there, o2, much respect!

How sketchy are the ebay unlockers?

I have not ever done this before, but I found this one
http://cgi.ebay.com/UNLOCK-Code-AT-...Accessories&hash=item1c138c9851#ht_4764wt_913
I was wondering if any of these are legit or do they all fall into the realm of too good to be true. I have called at&t and they stated that I could not have an unlock code so that is why I am going down this route, if it turns out to be legit.
Anyway I welcome your feedback about what may be just a dumbass question, LOL.
p.s. the only reason I am looking at this guy's page is that he has +50000 reviews with 99.8% quality.
my one experience with an ebay unlock code was it bricked the phone I was using. After doing further research I found that this was a constant for that phone. I have not seen any posts about unlocking an Aria yet but I also have not been looking for them since I am on AT&T so there is no need to unlock the phone for a different carrier currently.
that's the same guy i used to unlock 3 at&t phone. i never had a problem
If you are going out of the country then call att and tell them that. they will give you your unlock code for free all youll have to do is get a different (Non att) sim.

They changed that policy. Now you have to wait for your contract to run out before they will unlock your phone, even if you tell them you're traveling. I tried calling them and having them unlock it, and that's what they told me. I was really disappointed too, because they've unlocked my phone before and never gave me any trouble because of the contract.
Maybe if I had threatened to unlock it anyhow, I might have had better luck– but I doubt it.
Ya I tried calling them too. Told them my situation and it was denied. I guess I will try this guy. At the most I am out 10 bucks.

Strange, I just re-upped my contract when buying my Aria, and unlocked my phone with the code from ATT tech support for free. I do go internation a few times/year, so that may be a flag that I am not entirely lying, but it was no problem. Also, I used chat, instead of phone...they gave the my code in 10 seconds.
So I took the plunge. Fast service from this guy. Bought yesterday and got today. Went by t-mobile store and borrowed a sim. Put in unlock code and let me in the system. Rebooted to verify with t-mobile sim. Did not ask for code the second time.
Altogether happy. Me -$13.00. Phone unlocked.
Buyer beware. Cannot guarantee same results.

just curious so please forgive me but how did that go, you walked into store..umm, can I borrow a sim ? they just hand them out to try out ?
I spoke with ATT tech (actually chat and then called to verify..) and they said they will give unlock code in 90 days from day of activation, no problem on their part, no cost.
i'm curious about all this too and still with a locked HTC Aria.
I went to the ebay link and read everything.
At some point it says:
"...be advised I cannot do refunds if phone asking for a PIN (personal code) which is password set on the phone (?)"

Well if this is my phone and I have the personal password, then I might have it.
When inserting a SIM card the phone says:
"SIM network unlock PIN", SOOOOO, I don't get it... will write the guy an email about it and hear what he says about it...
Eager to unlock this phone!
So..
1. I have heard various things from people regarding what AT&T will do for them. I would call them first and if they will unlock it for you then great. I spoke to them and they would not give it to me and told me that they had an exclusive right to the phone for the foreseeable future.
2. I did just walk into the t-mobile store and ask for a sim. The girl looked at me puzzled and said they are 20 bucks. I told here I need it for five seconds to unlock my phone. She said that Phones don't do that. I said that I have the code. She gave me a used sim.
In conclusion I think that I did go searching for a credible way to do this. I don't want a million people telling me what at&t's policy is since I did call them though. At any rate I did unlock my phone so I am good.

May I ask you and if you remember what was the message the phone displayed before you unlock it with the t-moblie SIM card?
It was the message "SIM network unlock PIN" or what did it say?
I believe what you did, I've done certain type of things in past, walking into a store and asking for those sort of things... lol... great that it worked!
Ya it was something like "SIM NETWORK UNLOCK" not a personal unlock and I had to put in the 8 digit unlock code I bought off ebay. The previous post of mine was just about all the people stating all the AT&T policies that they have heard of and asking why I didn't just call them when I stated in my first post that I did. Also ya social engineering worked great there as they gave me some old sim to use they they found in a desk that didn't work but had a different network ID on it so it would prompt me for the SIM UNLOCK code.
seems then that I 'm having the same message, will try buying a code from the ebay guy then.
thanks a lot for your response.
PS. Calling AT&T wont work for me either as I bought the phone through ebay and I have not and will never have AT&T phone # or something to just simply call them and say 'hey I bought one of your phones over ebay, would you please give me the unlock code?' lol...
just bought a code from the ebay seller... will see how it develops and if the code works.
I will post results and everything related once I have the code
universal Sim
I have tried a few online sellers and they say a code is not available for my aria. Bummer, hopefully that will change. I remembered I had one of those universal sim chips like a Rebel Sim. I sort of works. Sometimes when I turn the phone on I can manually choose the network and get service, but most of the time it won't connect. Maybe I can buy a newer version of the universal sim.
Well dude, I got to say that the ebay deal really worked for me!!! Couldn't be more happy!
Was a little skeptical about it but just got the code on the email minutes ago and worked right away!!!
Cost me 9.95 because the price was reduced and paid with PayPal. Bought it in the morning and got the code minutes ago.
There's another ebay seller with the same price/offer which seems to work too (good feedback too)

What phone did you tried to unlock?
---------------
Thanks to breakeven and xda-developers forum!!!
I decided to test this out today for fun.
I tried 3 different ebay unlockers (all were rated as top-sellers) and all 3 were unable to unlock my off-contract Aria (from Amazon). They did, however, offer to try on another server, at around 2-3x the original cost, which I refused and was refunded my money.
I really don't care if my Aria can be unlocked since I have no intention of leaving AT&T anyway, but I thought I'd share MY experience with the rest of you. YOUR experience may vary.
On a side note, I unlocked 2 different models of Blackberry (again, just for fun) a few days ago using one of those ebay sellers with no problem. So I wouldn't worry too much about getting ripped off (as long as they are top rated sellers).
tongas
hey tongas would you mind telling us which ebay seller unlocked you Aria?
Thanks

HTC Leo - Subsidy Code *Cheap Reliable?*

The phone is locked to T-Mobile and obviously i need a subsidy pin. I requested one from T-Mobile it came within 12 hours. BUT this was for the first phone i had from them's IMEI. Obviously this one won't work for the phone. I have since requested another for the updated IMEI. And after 3 days its still stuck in there admin department.
What im asking is.
Shall i wait until the code is redeemed from T-Mobile as its the safest option. The buyer hasn't paid yet and has already waited long enough to get it.
Or are there any RELIABLE unlock sources that sell the Subsidy pins that will be a guaranteed fix and will be unlocked forever? Or are there any other ways to unlock the phone for any network?

Will the service be affected eby the fact T-Mobile are 'enquiring' about an unlock code to HTC? I have read the T-Mobile UK handsets have a trouble with Unlock codes from sites. Read this while doing a search on the forums.
I would say no problem as unlocked a Desire HD on T-Mobile UK end of last year no problem.
They have access to all main provider databases & manufacturer databases too as my code was supplied from HTC ...
An alternative - Can get them off ebay pretty cheap <$5 - I've used them and worked fine and pretty fast
Used eBay before & had problems, 2 codes did not work & getting refund was a pain & codes that did work did not unlock to all networks.
eBay is full of big promises & small on quality goods/services ...

eBay is full of big promises & small on quality goods/services ...

Are you promoting the one you suggest and rubbishing others for a reason? What is your connection with them?
I know a few have had success with ebay - look at the satisfaction ratings tells you if they will dupe you

Really, Was there any need for this? And after all the Googling i did, Ebay seemed to come up the rear end concerning codes.
The site he gave, was Prompt and had the code within 5 hours. Even on a sunday. When its taken t mobile around 4 days or so. I think you should take yourself away from this thread. Thanks for the posts and Mods please lock this as its solved.

Connection: Happy Customer
eBay: used eBay as price & feedback looked good, we need to unlock about 8>10 handsets monthly so savings via eBay looked good. Reality was different with some wrong codes supplied or emailing us to pay more as codes in newer data base ect ect & unlocked devices not working on all networks.
Up to you who you use at the end of the day, but some will find such reviews from long term members useful ...

I wouldn't agree with you completely: I've used several times ebay(maybe 2-3 providers) for decoding and never was dissapointed, for sure there are honest people on ebay along with scammers!

Try this one: unlock fusion has many other auctions posted, but this is just an example(http://www.ebay.ie/itm/Unlock-Code-...591?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2c62676267).
Good price, reliable, fast...

I have now used UnlockFusion a few times for myself and my friends - we have found them reliable and cheap (the latest was under US$3) and quick - usually within an hour or two depending on the time of day (one recently was just a few minutes).
I have absolutely no affiliation with them and live in Australia, but it pays to let others know of a great service.
But as always, check the feedback just in case things go bad and their services declines

Confirming this is good for this community, I'm neither affiliate with them, but used their service maybe 10 times and they are OK (price+service+response time): I'll never hesitate to use their service again if needed.:highfive:

HD2 sim unlock ( PB81120 t8585 t9193 )

I'm making this thread simply because I searched and searched and there was nothing for free like in the days of the htc kaiser/raphael, hadn't used my hd2 for a long time and decided to give it to my dad, since he's too cheap to get a good phone lol, and I have 2 hd2s decided to hook him up.
Now after searching here for it, people mostly sent you to htcunlock and some similar others which are still charging $20 US dolars to unlock a 3 year old phone, well I found a listing on ebay and even though a bit skeptical I decided to give it a try since it was only $3.72 with shipping charge, got my unlock code within a few hrs, flashed winmo 6.5(talk about a blast from the past) and put the code in and done, tested it on AT&T and working fine. I just sent the info for my 2nd hd2 so I can unlock that one also. :good:
Here's the link for the people that still use it or the new comers that bought it second hand looking to unlock.

it was brought to my attention that this won't work with Orange, but like anything else here at XDA , try at your own risk, if it doesn't work you're only out a few bucks .
Nice advertising.
Otherwise, word of advice, BEWARE of HD2's from certain mobile operators(f.e. Orange) as unlock codes WILL NOT WORK. The only option for unlocking those devices are original Orange codes(which cost a lot) or XTClip/cracking boxes
be safe and get and original unlock code from Orange. or buy a prepaid phone since your father is so cheap. where im from you can get one for 18 dollar with 18 dollar credit
I'm sorry for my misunderstanding but I thought all hd2 unlocked the same, I have US T-Mobile hd2s, for both already unlocked for $7.44 with this service, I figured that the models listed in the ad could be unlocked the same way. I'll edit the title when I get home.
Sent from my SGH-I717 using xda premium
Had quite a bit of trouble with cheaper unlocking not working on many providers. Pay a little more for decent source of original codes or HTC database codes or get it unlocked via a local decent mobile shop as not too expensive these days.

Yeah I hear you but since I no longer use the phones, I found a good cheap source which worked fine, I paid $7.44 US and got both my hd2s Sim unlocked. I don't think you can get any better than that. I posted this to show people a cheap alternative to paying lots more, if anyone uses this and it doesn't work, they're out what cost to get a bag of chips and a soda!
RoloRacer on RootBox Nexus 10
Supersize that order & you get hassle free full unlock.
Can be lucky with cheap codes but I had too many failures with eBay codes ...
