I'm making this thread simply because I searched and searched and there was nothing for free like in the days of the htc kaiser/raphael, hadn't used my hd2 for a long time and decided to give it to my dad, since he's too cheap to get a good phone lol, and I have 2 hd2s decided to hook him up.
Now after searching here for it, people mostly sent you to htcunlock and some similar others which are still charging $20 US dolars to unlock a 3 year old phone, well I found a listing on ebay and even though a bit skeptical I decided to give it a try since it was only $3.72 with shipping charge, got my unlock code within a few hrs, flashed winmo 6.5(talk about a blast from the past) and put the code in and done, tested it on AT&T and working fine. I just sent the info for my 2nd hd2 so I can unlock that one also. :good:
Here's the link for the people that still use it or the new comers that bought it second hand looking to unlock.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/151003769254?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
it was brought to my attention that this won't work with Orange, but like anything else here at XDA , try at your own risk, if it doesn't work you're only out a few bucks .
Nice advertising.
Otherwise, word of advice, BEWARE of HD2's from certain mobile operators(f.e. Orange) as unlock codes WILL NOT WORK. The only option for unlocking those devices are original Orange codes(which cost a lot) or XTClip/cracking boxes
be safe and get and original unlock code from Orange. or buy a prepaid phone since your father is so cheap. where im from you can get one for 18 dollar with 18 dollar credit
I'm sorry for my misunderstanding but I thought all hd2 unlocked the same, I have US T-Mobile hd2s, for both already unlocked for $7.44 with this service, I figured that the models listed in the ad could be unlocked the same way. I'll edit the title when I get home.

Had quite a bit of trouble with cheaper unlocking not working on many providers. Pay a little more for decent source of original codes or HTC database codes or get it unlocked via a local decent mobile shop as not too expensive these days.

Yeah I hear you but since I no longer use the phones, I found a good cheap source which worked fine, I paid $7.44 US and got both my hd2s Sim unlocked. I don't think you can get any better than that. I posted this to show people a cheap alternative to paying lots more, if anyone uses this and it doesn't work, they're out what cost to get a bag of chips and a soda!
RoloRacer on RootBox Nexus 10
Supersize that order & you get hassle free full unlock.
Can be lucky with cheap codes but I had too many failures with eBay codes ...

I'm very interested in the HTC Aria because of its small size, but I have tmobile service. I'm not getting a data plan (I've got wifi everywhere I go) and I'm fine with buying it retail. My only question is how to unlock it to use tmobile's network. I heard I can call ATT and get an unlock code. I also heard there were online service that could generate an unlock code. Well, at this point I'm really nervous to buy this phone because I don't want to purchase this device and not be able to use it on my network. This is going to be my first android phone and I'm eager to get into the whole rooting and custom ROM business. Please help!
Thanks,
dm
EDIT: My grandma has had service with ATT for about a year now. I've heard that tmobile with give the unlock codes for free if you've had service with them for 90 days. I'm curious if ATT does the same.
2x EDIT: Sorry for the typo in the title.
there are plenty of unlock services via the web, just find a site and after you pay the usual $20 they will email you directions on how to unlock the device so that you are able to run it on tmobile.
Thanks for the quick response! I'm scared that's what I may have to resort to, but I just assume the potential for getting scammed is pretty high. Are there any reputable ones that you know of that unlock the Aria? I know it's pretty new...
I did some searching and the only ones that I can find are:
www(dot)iunlockit(dot)com/htc-aria-unlock-code-p-58064.html
www(dot)unlockallcellular(dot)com/aria-unlock-code-p-58064.html?osCsid=brnitand0jq564to0v7tirhnk7
Like I said, this looks fishy because it appears to be the same site with different domain names. Are these reputable sites? I still haven't bought my Aria because I want to be certain that I can unlock it fairly easily.
I paid $2 to unlock my LG VU on eBay...
Worked perfectly. They said they'd do it for all AT&T phones
if i unlock this phone to use on tmobile will i still be able to use 3g and all of the other features on this phone?
no 3g (but if you don't want data it won't matter) all other features should be just peachy afaik
I never thought about ebay; great idea.
and, no, I'm not going to be using a data plan, seeing as I rarely use data and I've got wifi everywhere I'm at (work, school, home, etc.)
Thanks a lot guys. I'll leave an update once I get the phone. Hopefully within the next week.
i was going to do the same (to get out of the data) but
free phone+2 years of data=360
just the phone=380
we'll see what att's policies are like in 2 years though
So I bought the Aria and I love it. However, I can't find anyway to unlock it. I bought one of those ebay unlock services, seeing as it advertised an unlock code in 2 hours or less. Well, that was two days ago. I also looked up on those sites that I mentioned previously and they are scams. So I've got this awesome phone that I can't use as a phone. What are my options now? I love this phone!

I have tried this a couple of AT&T phones and it worked for me.
Call up AT&T and tell them you have to leave country for work and would not like to spend money on roaming. They asked for IMEI number and handed me the code instantly.

I did this with every single one of my AT&T phones and they never gave me trouble. For me it was the true since I travel to Hong Kong every year to visit my parents.

Hi there, did you find a way to unlock the phone?
I'm wondering on the details about calling AT&T to get the code. I bought my Aria through ebay and presently have the phone at Mexico. Do AT&T ask for phone number (registered with AT&T), ssn or any other personal details regarding the phone? or just by calling them with IMEI # they will provide the code?
I don't have AT&T for obvious reasons.

Hi
I try maybe all store in Ebay and nothing, only get my code here:www.freeyourhtc.com/
I hope this help.
Thanks Rafa, but just bought a code from the ebay seller... will let everybody know if it worked or not.
Ebay Unlock code for HTC Aria actually worked!
I finally got to say that the ebay deal really worked for me!!! Couldn't be more happy!
Please refer to this post for more info:
How sketchy are the ebay unlockers?
Was a little skeptical about it but just got the code on the email minutes ago and worked right away!!!
Cost me 9.95 because the price was reduced and paid with PayPal. Bought it in the morning and got the code 5-6 hours later.
Thanks again to breakeven and xda-developers forum!!!
Can I unlock my phone if im in a two year contract?
I used http://www.cellunlock.net/ to unlock my gf's MyTouch 3G. They took 1 day and I got the code.
It seems they usually take less time, but they had some problems.
$10 if you use the code crackb50 on checkout.
And no, I don't work for them.

Course you can!
If you have at&t, then I would suggest you try the call them and get the code for free method first. If that's doesn't work, then just buy a code.
The reason why me and many others went through ebay, it's because most of the unlockers out there with web site presence, and being the aria a relative new phone, they do not carry yet codes or access to them. I tried first 1 of this unlockers and wrote email to 2 of them and none of the 3 had access to codes yet, finally the ebay thing worked for me and take only about 7 hours to get the code.
You should know that unlocking the phone will no release you of the contract but just give you the ability of changing gsm provider. Unlocking the phone it is only intended for that. If what you want is to remove some crappy apps installed by default, then what you might need is to have root access to phone instead unlocking. Rooting the phone is quite easy with the aria and is free; you just need some further reading about.

I bought the missus a HTC Wildfire from three today, mainly because she loved the red colour, which is exclusive to three, but she uses Tesco Mobile.
I went to one of my local town's many, many phone unlocking shops and was charged £30 for an unlock. Ten minutes later, I get told they cannot find an unlock code for the IMEI number. I tried numerous sites, but all failed.
In the end, I rooted the phone using UnrEVOked, simply because I thought flashing a new radio with clockwork mod would work. This turned out not to be the case.
Does anyone know how the ruddy hell I can unlock this thing? I'm willing to pay for a code, but I've tried lots of sources and none of them work.
Any advice would be appreciated!
I'm not sure how to either cos I never did that before but I read it around this forums in some threads , there are tutorial there. I think you need something known as a gold card.

Currently, the red wildfires cannot be unlocked. Only the gray, black and silver ones.
You could try changing the covers or painting them, and then search for an unlock solution.
Just call 3, they are quite co-operative. Just tell them u have another sim card with lots of credit left on it and u want to finish that off b4 using there sim.
They unlocked my Nokia E63 for £15 (standard charge). Although you will have to talk to a foreign call centre to do it. Just be nice to them and they will probably do it.

Tried this yesterday. Even they don't have the code for this one. In addition, they spent the whole time trying to sell me a contract!

Could you share a tutorial link for unlocking these phones?
I know I'm going to sound like a terrible advert spammer, but I just got an unlock code from Mobile Unlocked.
I ordered the code a week ago and was told they didn't have one. However, they kept checking their database daily and came through in six days.
So, the missus now has an unlocked, unbranded red HTC Wildfire. Brilliant!
I would like to know if i flash over my phone to use Android will I then be able to use it on another Network?
on a different network no. rooting your phone does not sim unlock your device. if you call your provider they normally dont have any problem giving you an unlock code for your device. im on the tmobile network and i wanted to unlock my old phone to sell on ebay (unlock can fetch more $) so i called tmobile, they gave me an unlock code (free) i put a at&t sim in my phone to complete the process and it was done. really very simply.
i purchased the phone from CL and i was on a month to month plan with T Mobile for about a year and I did not renew this month. Do I have any options?

You can pay $30 on eBay and get unlock code for it - that will get it unlocked and then you can use it on any other network.
BTW - if you get the unlocking code while you have Android on your phone you can still unlock it with your code you get.
yea i've seen unlock codes on ebay as low as $10, it all depends on your phone.
i would still try t-mobile anyway and say you use to be a customer and you wanted to unlock your old phone so you can sell and use it on a different network. the most they can do is say no so there wouldn't be any harm done in still calling. i think that they would still do it. if you reach someone and they say no, hang up and try 1 last time. i always get conflicting stories everytime i call t-mobile anyway so you might just luck out.
(they unlocked an old phone i wasn't using with t-mobile, giving i still was under contract but they still unlocked a phone that wasn't on my contract)
I called T Mobile and told them I am going overseas and I need it unlocked the rep told me he would submit the request and I will get an email within 5 -7 days with instructions on how to unlock the phone. That is a long wait I did not know it took 7 days to do anything anymore. Oh well .
Thank you all for helping I appreciate it.
if you need to unlock a phone to go overseas i think its a different process so maybe thats why its so long because it only took me 10 mins to get the code from them.
T-Mobile uk charge £25 and theres a 28 day wait for them to snailmail the code to you.
Unlocking.com was £10 and 10 minutes.

From T Mobile
Thank you for taking the time to contact T-Mobile. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide the unlock code at this time. After review of the account we have determined that the device is not in use with the corresponding mobile number. T-Mobile policies and procedures state that the device must be in use on the mobile number requesting the unlock code. If this is a new device please allow 3-4 business days prior to submitting a new request to allow your usage to update in our system.
Looks like I will have to pay...
That really doesn't make much sence because they unlocked a phone I no longer was using. I think I was using my hd2 for 6 months when they gave me the unlock code for my mytouch 3g slide. Well it was worth a shot...kinda goes back to me saying I always hear conflicting things from t-mobile.

I contacted T Mobile on 3 other occasions and recieved the same answer 1 manager told me to contact HTC Directly as that is how they get the unlock codes but that did not work.
However I found a company that provides you with the code. It took him 7 minutes and only cost $7.00. He had a perfect rating on ebay well 99.9% and he provided pre purchase QnA via direct email.

Again thank you all and I hope this helps anyone else who might have similar issues.
Look I've read multiple forums on this including this..
I'm simply asking if there is a Tmobile user who would be willing, if i provided my IMEI number to call tmobile and get an unlock code, I attempted to buy them and 3 separate occasions the websites failed ive lost about 40 dollars...
I would greatly appreciate the help and would love to further develop my phone using XDA thank you.
Try ebay, I got my code from there and there IS buyer protection.. I never trusted any SIM unlocking sites anyways.
I wuld if i had the money too after wasting 40 dollars i wont be paid for 2 more weeks
Ebay SIM unlocks are nearly instant, and I got my unlock codes for both my HD2 and G1 for only 8 dollars each.
Have you try contacting HTC or T-Mobile?
Don't you happens to have a friend that have T-Mobile? If you do may be they can help.
I'm going to be unlocking my phone asap, but Ebay is the easiest method.
From what I've heard, you dont need to be a T-mobile customer
I've researched unlocking phones for free, for the past month or so, and every youtube video especially said to "Tell them that you're leaving the country and that you need to unlock the/your phone to use there"
-(some people suggest that you tell T-mobile/AT&T that you're just leaving on a trip and that you'll be back with T-mobile as soon as you get back[ASK FOR MANAGER])
Good Luck!
The phone is locked to T-Mobile and obviously i need a subsidy pin. I requested one from T-Mobile it came within 12 hours. BUT this was for the first phone i had from them's IMEI. Obviously this one won't work for the phone. I have since requested another for the updated IMEI. And after 3 days its still stuck in there admin department.
What im asking is.
Shall i wait until the code is redeemed from T-Mobile as its the safest option. The buyer hasn't paid yet and has already waited long enough to get it.
Or are there any RELIABLE unlock sources that sell the Subsidy pins that will be a guaranteed fix and will be unlocked forever? Or are there any other ways to unlock the phone for any network?
-This should be allowed as it's not to do with warez. Apologies if its not-

Will the service be affected eby the fact T-Mobile are 'enquiring' about an unlock code to HTC? I have read the T-Mobile UK handsets have a trouble with Unlock codes from sites. Read this while doing a search on the forums.
I would say no problem as unlocked a Desire HD on T-Mobile UK end of last year no problem.
They have access to all main provider databases & manufacturer databases too as my code was supplied from HTC ...
An alternative - Can get them off ebay pretty cheap <$5 - I've used them and worked fine and pretty fast
Used eBay before & had problems, 2 codes did not work & getting refund was a pain & codes that did work did not unlock to all networks.
eBay is full of big promises & small on quality goods/services ...

Really, Was there any need for this? And after all the Googling i did, Ebay seemed to come up the rear end concerning codes.
The site he gave, was Prompt and had the code within 5 hours. Even on a sunday. When its taken t mobile around 4 days or so. I think you should take yourself away from this thread. Thanks for the posts and Mods please lock this as its solved.

eBay: used eBay as price & feedback looked good, we need to unlock about 8>10 handsets monthly so savings via eBay looked good. Reality was different with some wrong codes supplied or emailing us to pay more as codes in newer data base ect ect & unlocked devices not working on all networks.

I have now used UnlockFusion a few times for myself and my friends - we have found them reliable and cheap (the latest was under US$3) and quick - usually within an hour or two depending on the time of day (one recently was just a few minutes).
I have absolutely no affiliation with them and live in Australia, but it pays to let others know of a great service.
But as always, check the feedback just in case things go bad and their services declines
