Hello everyone.
I have the MOST AMAZING thing happening on my HD2. I have been travelling for a while connecting to endless WI-FI Networks wherever I go. The list is now so long that I have matching network names but with different Security keys of course and I am starting to have conflicts so, I just decided to clean-up the registry. I have over 230 networks I connected to in the past couple months. Its a mess.
The registry key HCU>Comm>EAPOL>Config keeps a listing of all previous networks one has connected to before. One by one I just delete all entries of the networks till the list is clean once again.
Oh but, wonder of wonders; upon one or two reboots by a miracle, ALL entries are back again!!!.. just as if I restored the registry before the clean-up! How is this possible? How can deleted values show-up again or how is the registry self-restoring these values? This happens every time and i dont seem to find a way by simply editing the registry.
Does anyone know the solution to permanently clean-up these values and not have them come back again? Should I start using an alternative app like WI-FI Monster instead (dont really like it), or maybe something else to manage the WI-FI Networks on the HD2?
Thanks a lot in advance for the advice

OK. I can usually find the answers to most of my problems but even the search button hasn't helped this time. I have a VZW 6800 and am too cheap to subscribe to their data plans. I want to keep the phone from autoconnecting to the VZW data network but need to be able to let it easilly connect to download MMS messages. Is there a program, preferable usable as a today screen plugin, that I could click on to enable and disable the data connection?
Thanks for your help.
Ian.
edit: I have found the nodata.cab and that does what I want, I just would like easier access to the feature by clicking a single button on the today screen.
I found one that is pretty handy called Pocket Toolman by Clarence K Chau. It sort of utilizes the launch tray at the bottom of the today screen. It acts like nodata but seems to be easier to use since it automatically selects the cell phone connection so you can toggle quicker.

To get the data connection toggler to show up on the today screen, click on tools and then data connections. Make sure to check the box beside show data connections icon in tray. I also had to create a shortcut in the startup folder so that after a reboot the program will still show up on the today screen.
That is a good option and a step better than nodata since it is accessable from the front screen.
Anybody else have an option that can toggle the data on and off with just one click? PocketToolman is good but requires a couple clicks. I'd like to do this with one button.
I've been searching for a topic like this for a while now, trying to avoid creating a topic of my own!
Okay, so when I first purchased my XV6800, I didn't have a data plan so I read through the forums and I figured out how to completely remove the ability to access EVDO. Since then I've been thinking about getting a limited data plan and a program that easily toggles between allowing/denying connection to Verizon's data network would be awesome.
One problem---I actually forgot what and how I disabled my EVDO, but I do somewhat remember HTC_Guardian or something. I think I deleted that. Would anyone here be kind enough to assist me on how to get my connection back without having to hard reset? Thanks.
Bump. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I really hope I don't have to resort to hard resetting it.
bump i need this too. Just one click on of data connection (3g or hdspa) toggler
Just got my Dash 3G, and I have found my first issue. The builtin HTC Home Weather app isn't updating. I have it checked to automatically update, but it doesn't. I have also tried doing a manual refresh, and still no luck. The only time it does seem to update is if I change my Homescreen, and it reloads. Anyone one having a similar experience? Any solutions?
thats a common issue with T-Mobile for years.
theres a few threads already constructed with possible solutions dating back to 2007.
just go thru the search function, see what comes up, theres way too many for me to post.
Later!
I had searched, but most of the posts were for other phones/OS's (6.0 instead of 6.1). Plus, I am not sure if the HTC Home Weather has changed since these other fixes were posted. I don't want to be mashing old fixes into my new phone unless I can be assured it will work. Probably means I will have to wait for someone else to be the guinea pig. Can anyone point to a fix they have confirmed to work?
Just restart phone and notice that it reloads. Myfaves automatically reloads no matter what homescreen you choose.. Have vista need to stop the sync
The problem is with connecting to the network, Mine refused to update until I changed my connection to always on, now it works perfectly. All you need to do is edit the reg:
This wont drain your battery as this is only a GSM network state flag and nothing is transferred, all it does is eliminate the connection wait time.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\ConnMgr\Providers\
{7C4B7A38-5FF7-4bc1-80F6-5DA7870BB1AA}\
Connections\*your connection name*\AlwaysOn = 1
There will be two *your connection name* to look for, one is Data the other Internet
Bupahs,
Thanks for the reply. I tried your suggestion, but still no luck. I am now having issues trying to get the initial update. (Had to do a hard reset). I've been looking at the registry entries at:
HKLM\Software\HTC\HTCHome\Weather
HKLM\Software\HTC\HTCHome\SlidingPanel\HTCWeather
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Chome\HTCWeather
but I don't know what to edit to try, and fix the issue. I've changed the State and Status values at HKLM\Software\HTC\HTCHome\Weather. These seem to control which message the app displays such as "Add City", or "Unable to download..", etc. I've noticed the WeatherApp.exe process isn't running in the background by default, and that the value of the key HKLM\Software\HTC\HTCHome\Weather\Settings\UpdateCmd\ seems to be a date followed by a time. (2009,7,19,12,21,43) Any suggestions on what else to look at? Do apps referenced in the Registry default to the Windows directory? I noticed CommandLaunch references WeatherApp.exe, but I get no action when I hit refresh. Just wonder if that had anything to do with it.
Do others have this working? Sorry for the rambling post. Useful input or suggestions are welcomed.
mine wont update either tried 3 different networks.
hallo everyone, i have already searched, but no joy, am looking, for a cab, that i have only, since seen in NRG,s roms, its found under connections, and its called dataconfig, which helps, to automatically configure, data settings, and i find it very useful, particularly, because, i am on 02, uk, and they have different settings, for contarct and pay as you go settings, which means, i have to manually enter the settings, on other roms, but with that setting, it automatically does it so -please, any link, or advice on how i can get it.
yeah, it's really odd that it cannot seem to be found anywhere except in the Energy ROMS. I have the settings for my data connection, but apparently i'm not entering them correctly. I need this app as well and a link would really be helpful

For years i have owned WinMO devices and i have always been very happy with them, i have learned many tips & tricks here on this forum but there is one question i haven't found the answer to (yet).
I live close to the border and because of this my phone sometimes connects to te network of my neighbour country, which costs extra money (roaming).
Therefore i set my settings to "manual network connection" and chose my own network provider.
I don't mind having no signal when i drive trough another country, but i certainly dislike the windows network selection popup.
I do not want to select a different provider, i just want it to connect to my own without questions when it is in reach.
This annoying popup window opens regardless of what application my phone is running, it stops the music / movie / app and i have to press the x-button (OK on HD2) to get rid of it. 5 minutes later it will pop up again. This is especially annoying while driving.
I searched a lot on how to disable this, but so far i am not succesful.
On the other hand i am convinced you can disable this popup, maybe trough registry editing or installing a cab or whatever.
So excuses if the question was asked earlier and i may have overlooked it, but is there somebody who knows how to disable this popup??
Thanks in advance!!
Regards,
René
My touch hd is constantly connecting to internet. If I switch data connection off a second later it is connected again. My internet is free but if I travel abroad they charge me a lot of money for that. Anyone knows what to do? Is it common problem? Michael
Sounds like you've been into an advanced config utility and set the phone to automatically start a data connection, or you have a app running which uses a a data connection (IM or similar)
i had the same problem once or twice ..over period of time ..!
(i also agree with above, handsomedog ,statement )
what i did was one of two things .... ..went to..
"my device..windows\startup "..and checked which applications is listed
to start up and ..delete the " relevant appl." if found in startup folder (..... .ink )or go to that application and configure it ...to connect to internet.. manually( if application has that option )
otherwise, i checked my task manager /processes( use a good task manager eg.. Fdc task manager..to see and kill relevant process )
close and soft reboot
(with above method, i have always traced the culprit ,and sorted
relevant problem out )
try it if you want to, it might work for you !
good luck ,
willcor
Thank you it helped a lot... no more problems
