I'm using the Slide-It keyboard, which is cool, but whenever it's enabled, it seems to disable multitouch.
Is this normal? Any workaround?
yeah, this usually happen to me using swype, but after a reboot, it works normally.
Yes, it happens whenever you change your input method. A reboot fixes it.

Is there a way to completely disable the onscreen keyboard that seems to pop up at the most innoportune time when editing text data? Whenever I'm using my exec in 'mini laptop' mode, i have access to a full keyboard, and having the on screen keyboard pop up, using 3/4 of the screen height, rendering whatever I was working on unusable, well, that's... frustrating.
Is there a way to disable that keyboard? Registry tweak maybe? TIA!
Try a null keyboard app. PHM has one. There are others too, a big review of them on Brighthand.

Thanks! Sounds like it'll do the trick.
Also, you can simply start typing using your hardware keyboard instead of removing the soft keyboard by clicking on the icon. It will disapear, and will not reopen for this app.
If you click on the keyboard icon to remove it from the screen, it will come back next time.
Here try this NullKeyboard. It works fine on my Exec: http://personales.ya.com/beemer/prod03.htm
this program don't work for me. everytime i select it, my soft keyboard comes back.
Has anyone noticed the onscreen keypad responds slower than wm2003 for instance? even in my old xda2i, when it frooze for a few seconds, you could keep typing and it would catch up letter for letter. HD seems to miss letterseven normally. This issue is further highlighted whe i connected a bluetooth keyboard to it. response time is awful, you can''t trpe properly on it atall. any ways to speed the input responce up?
which keypad are you using, and in which orientation?
I type reasonably quickly, and it keeps up most of the time.
I do get an occasional pause when typing longer emails, and it does then miss out some letters - but not often enough for it to be a pain, just a minor irritation.
I'm still on bog standard keyboard, using gyrator2.
I do seem to get different keyboards depending on what app I'm in though (I think!).
Im using the basic keyboard. (can't use the qwerty one at all!!) and I'm running gyrator in the background also. (though not typing in landscape or anything)
Bluetooth keyboard wise it's the think outside bluetooth keyboard, which worked fine on my last ppc. The drivers I have crash all the time, but it still works.... just the input takes too long to update to make a full size keyboard usable in normal typing speed.
This is a FRUSTRATION!

I use the default keyboards but mainly I use TouchPal and I can type as fast as anything on that.
I have the problem of slight freezes, but not that the keyboard lags...
Ever since the 2.3.3 update (4.24.651.1) I have this issue when I go to use the keyboard it does not appear, just white space where the keyboard should be. The keyboard is still there just not visible because I can type but I can't see the keys I'm typing.
I'm able to resolve it by changing the input method back to regular keyboard then right back to swype again, but it continues to happen. It seems totally random and occurs in different apps. Has anyone else experienced this?

Depends on what version of swype you're running. I had the same issue when i first updated. You'll need to go get a newer copy from the swype beta website.
I never installed swype. It's included in the stock sprint ROM. Should / can I update it still?
Every time I press the mic button on the keyboard and try voice typing, the typing works but then the whole system UI stops responding to touch. I can't do anything inside any app or even in the main screen, only the physical buttons and touch within the lock screen works. Afterwards I have to access the shutdown menu from the lock screen (or use the button combination) in order to restart the device and restore touch response.
Is there a known issue with the Google Voice Typing in the device, or is it caused by some Xposed module or something?
The device is I-9300i running stock Androod Kitkat 4.4.4 Rom.

Hi!
I had similar problems with other stock apps of android KitKat, sometimes I solved the problem deleting the app cache, in your case you can try to delete the cache of the app called Google text-to-speech. If it doesn't work try also to delete the cache of the keyboard that you're using (stock Samsung keyboard or any custom keyboard downloaded from the store).
Let me know if works!

Sorry for abandoning the post. The issue resolved itself without any interference, so I can't tell whether clearing the cache helps or not. Thanks for responding anyway.
Good day.
Anybody have an issue with keyboard not showing in any app, but sure its there because if you tap on the blank screen letters will be typed it is just invisible.
Any work around guys

Tried that but it came back.
any luck? Which app you are using? Have you tried any other app?
I've got the exact same problem. When I'm typing in any app sometimes the keyboard (GBoard) goes black, I can still type but can't see anything from the keyboard. It doesn't happen too often, maybe one a day but it's anoying.
To solve it you have to go to keyboard setting and when you tap virtual keyboard -> GBoard a message saying that the app has stopped working appears and asks you to open it again. Once you do it works normal again but eventually it will happen again.
Someone has this same issue or has managed to solve?
Thanks.
I use swiftkey, and it works fine..
I want to use GBoard but I've got no idea why this happens.
