Hello everybody,
I've just left my old Touch Cruise and bought an HD2. Great phone, but I can't sync it within 2 computers (Windows XP + Windows 7 64-bit). On Windows 7, the Mobile device center completely freezes after 10 seconds.
I didn't understand why, but I saw in the HTC FAQ that the HD2 can sync with only ONE computer (I have to choose which one). With my Touch Cruise, I was syncing on 2 computers (using Chapura Pocket Mirror Professional).
Is it really impossible to do that with the HD2 (without using my corporate Exchange Server over the Internet)?
Thanks for your help.
mine sinc's on my desk top and my lap top both windows 7 with no problems but if you format a pc it scrue's it all up as two seem's to be the max alowed this has worked for me all all roms i have tryed, 1.43 o2,1.61wwe .1.66 wwe and now touch-x extream
I'm using the french Artemis 11.0 ROM. But I still cannot sync with 2 different PC. In Windows Mobile device center, when I go for example to the contacts sync parameters, I can see 2 checkboxes (one for each PC), but only one checkbox is clickable. If I uncheck the checked one, the device center says it has to delete all the contacts on my phone before synchronizing with the other PC!
Syncing contacts, agenda and notes with pc(Vista) and laptop(W7) here.
Works great.
OK, so no mixing between ActiveSync 32-bit and WDMC 64-bit for you... You only use WDMC 32-bit.

I have just installed windows Vista beta2, but activesync 4.1 does not work with it?
any thoughts?
Vista has a built-in sync center, which is used, among other things, to sync with a Windows Mobile device. Once you plug in your phone, Vista will recognize it and the sync center will prompt you to set up a profile. Really easy to use actually.

Yeah after a Windows update the sync center will actually sync your PIM data... but not before.
OK to clear some things up
As you all know vista is in beta stage so not everything is working properly.
When you install it, it can only sync media files (pictures, videos and music)
After updating from windowsupdate you have a new version of Windows Mobile Device Center which will allow you to sync everything else. since i am in the beta testing of Vista i have found some bugs that it does not sync contacts with Office 2007 even after proper setting. It may work for someone but here it doesn't.
We will get better syncronization in the Release Candidate of Windows Vista
You can try it if you are curious how it looks, and trust me it looks great
Hey all,
I'm currently testing out the Beta 2 version of Microsoft Office Pro +, and apart from this issue I'm impressed so far...
When I create a calendar appointment, or task with Outlook, any details that I put in the notes section of the item used to (with Outlook 2003) transfer over to the PPC Calendar and Tasks to be able to view and edit.
But now it's blank. It copies the appointment, the times, whether it's busy/free etc, but refuses to display any of the details that I put in the notes.
Is there anything I can do about this, or is this a glitch with the new software and it's tough? I'm using a HTC Uni (T-Mobile MDA Pro), so posted it in the Universal Board, as don't know if it's a General issue with all devices or just this one.
Cheers!
Dave.
It's working for me. Sorry, that's all I can tell you.

Are you using Office 2007 with Windows XP or Windows Vista?
I'm on XP at the mo, but if you're using Vista I'll jump in the deep end and try that...
Cheers.
HI, I have the problem the other way around. I am using office 2007 beta with activesync 4.2. when I add notes to a calendar item on my universal, and then sync it with my desktop, I lose all my notes on both ppc and desktop.
This is very frustating as I am in the habit of typing meeting notes directly into calendar items on my universal.
Can anyone help, please?
Thanks in advance.
I'm using Office 2007 on Win XP. I had it running with AS 4.1 and now with 4.2. Both are no problem. I guess I just got lucky.
Has no-one any ideas how I can fix this
WM6, Vista, Office 2007 Sync Problem
Hello,
I've just upgraded my Universal (O2 Exec), to jwrightmcps' 2.02 Version
Windows Mobile 6.
While on my desktop I'm using WinXP +AS 4.5, and Office 2003 without a problem .
However, on my Laptop (ThinkPad T43), running Windows Vista Ultimate (+Windows Mobile Device Center - The equivalant of ActiveSync), and Office 2007, I'm having problem syncing the device.
I don't get any error on the laptop, but get an 0x8000FFFF error on the device.
None of my Contacts, Calendar, Tasks, Notes etc. is synced in either way.
any one got the same problem?
it is obvious that the combination is the problem, as I didn't experience any problem before upgrading to Vista. (WinXP with ActiveSync 4.5 + Office 2007 worked fine).
any ideas for solutions?

Have you updated your version of WMDC - there was an update a month or so ago. It's referred to in one of the threads on Uni Upgrading.
Bad bad bad!! I'm using final version of Vista, Final version Office 2007, Just downloaded WMDC last week and Dopod 900/universal Windows Mobile 6 Jwright.
if you open outlook 2007 and then write your contact and then in notes just write something.., after you finished synchronizing, the contact was successfully copied onto the Dopod 900, but the the note didn't get copied!
If you write the notes within the contacts under Dopod 900, and then synchronizing it, the note within contact would be copied back onto computer with no problem. so it's only the other way around the problem
Also I have a second problem: Whenever I leave my Dopod 900 synced connected with my laptop and when there is a phone call coming in then I proceed to unplug the usb to pick up the phone, This may result in some sort of data corruption in syncing status, I think. Because after that, when I try to re-synhronize the dopod 900 again, it would try to synchronize from ground 0, so it would delete every synchronized data such as contacts, tasks, calendar in my Dopod 900 and re-transfer from desktop computer into this device all over again.

I wish I could do that. I don't think I can since I'm using Vista.
Is this real?
You can't use AS 4.5 with Vista and it doesn't sync correct with Office 2007 otherwise? If that's right that is a classic Microsoft snafu.
Works fine for me with Xp and office 2007 though, on AS 4.5.

Yes it's very real. AS 4.5 not working under Vista.
Anyhow, I bought HTC Athena today and the problem didn't happen with HTC Athena. So perhaps it's device specific.
Has anybody got any ideas?
My VISTA Windows Mobile Device Centre can see my blue angel, I can click on the file management and look round my device, but it will not sync with my Microsoft Office outlook files.
In the past it would just say it had synced, when it hadn't actually done anything. And now on a laptop it seems to be trying to synced for ever. But when I tell it to sync on the pocket PC it says "waiting for network".
Is there anybody having no problems using vista mobile device centre and windows pocket PC 6.1?
Help
i had the same problem today it was easily solved just by rehitting the sync button, do you connect over bluetooth, wifi or usb?
I am connecting using the USB stand.
I must have hit the sync button about 100 times.: (
This is very strange, because it has just partially synced. The story is this, because there is no contacts ON my telephone I had created a couple, and no matter how many times I have tried contacts haven't synced. Anyway this morning I was just creating a note for myself. I went into the windows mobile device centre/mobile device settings/change content sync settings, and de-selected everything, but then selected notes for the first time. Miraculously, not only did the notes from my telephone go on my laptop, all the notes on my laptop (in Microsoft Office outlook) went on to my telephone. I thought I had cracked it, selected contacts to see if that would sync, but no joy. this really is a mystery.
So I thought I will tell it to sync files, you know where it create a directory on your desktop, well that has also worked. All of the files on my pocket PC have been copied into a directory on my desktop. But sadly, still contacts etc. will not sync.

try uninstalling/reinstalling mobile device centre usually fixes the problem i'm running vista ultimate had the same problem but that sorted it for me

This may be a foolish question but do you have your phone contacts saved on to your sim card or have you converted them to your phone memory. Also have you tried creating a new contact using Microsoft Outlook and then syncing

No I don't have them on my sim, I have no contacts are my telephone, I'm trying to get them to sync with the contacts I have in Microsoft Office outlook.
I have tried creating new contacts, new tasks, in both the telephone and Microsoft Office outlook and then syncing, no joy.
Thanks very much for your kind effort.
I cannot imagine why the files and the notes would sync, and the contacts, calendar and the tasks won't, but here is some other information.
When I click on the activesync on my pocket PC it it says "waiting for network". When I go on the menu and click on status " result: the server could not be me. These can be caused by temporary network conditions." When I click on "view support code" I get "support code:0x80072eff".
Any other suggestions welcome, thanks for his help so far.
Just a thought, as a shortcut to this problem, is it possible to create a file from Microsoft Office outlook of my contacts, which I can import into contacts on my pocket PC?
If so;
What would the format of the files need to be?
Where would I need to place in my pocket PC?
How would I team put into contacts on my pocket PC?
Still got this same problem, the notes and the files will sync, for the other items such as contacts will not synchronise. Still getting this;
---------------------
Windows PC
Result:
The server could not be reached. These can be caused by temporary network conditions.
Support code: 0x80072EFF
---------
I am using;
-----------------------
Windows mobile 6.1 professional cooked by DVHA79_DDT
CE OS 5.2 0.20226 (build 20226.1.3.0 PV DPH)
---------------------
I have noticed in the communication manager there "data connection" option is grey, and I am unable to select "on".
I am wondering is there some kind of security issue with Microsoft Office outlook 2007? It does seem very strange that it is synchronising the notes and other files, but not the rest of the stuff
Data Connection in the Comms Mnager is for your GPRS connection. and is greyed out if there is no live connection.
I've been suffering the same over here.

Looks like we have the same disease. I installed the new Manila 2.5 on my P3450, and it's a beauty.
But ever since, it just won't sync with my MS Outlook 2007.
Running Vista Ultimate SP1 with every possible update, and now it got worse, I reinstalled the WMDC again, and now, every time I plug my Elf to the PC the WMDC crashes.
The way I see it, must be a bug either on my Windows or the WMDC itself.
If I find out anything I'll post it as soon as I find out.
icontact?
I was having a similar problem which was being caused by a third party contact manager. (iContact Burt Edition 6.3.1) The upgrade to his new 6.4 solved it for me.
Hope it helps.
my solution for vista was Dashwire. Provided many more solutions as well.
Apologies if a similar thread has already been started - please direct me!
The single biggest improvement I could see in a Mobile PDA now would be to enable 'dual synchronisation'. In effect to have 2 seperate sets of data within a single device.
Currently I have to carry 2 devices at all times - 1 which syncs with Work via Exchange, and a home phone which syncs with my home PC.
These have 2 seperate diaries, sets of email accounts, contacts, tasks etc.
It is not currently possible within Windows Mobile 6.1 to sync with 2 different PCs without ending up duplicating every appointment etc.
I understand the iphone can do this to a certain degree, but is anyone aware of a way to do it on Windows Mobile?
The Problem is th WM 6.1. The WM 6.0 works fine. I have two computers too, and on the one I have Vista and the other habe XP. And that`s works.
I don`t know how, but it works.
For me it works. I have wm6.1 and i have home laptop with vista and work laptop with xp. In my sync profile on PDA there are two sync profiles created one is Home PC and one is Work PC and it syncronises eveyrthing i tell to do. You will have problem with appointments for example duplication but for that you choose what to sync and how. PC to phone, or phone to PC and avoid duplication. Also you can use tools like SKtools to remove duplicate events / contacts etc... hope it helps

How do you do this? I have searched and can't find any way of setting up more than 1 sync profile on the PDA. I must be missing something...
Cheers,
Jim.
thinking back, when i connected my PPC to my works PC it said do you want to maintain a second Sync profile, i said no as all i wanted was to transfer files but you should be prompted.
I use a service called funambol, to sync contacts and calendar between my 2 outlook clients and then use exchange sync one of them to my phone
I have a brand new Vista PC with Outlook, but no contacts. I also have HTC HD with a bunch of contacts on it. I am trying to synchronize those two in such a way that HTC contacts are imported onto PC. It seems it only works one way - PC to HTC. At least Vista is telling me contacts are successfully synched, but I see nothing in outlook. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks
Hmmm....I came acrosss this option somewhere...have a look in ActiveSync (when your device is connected, otherwise everything will be greyed out), tools->options. See if you can't find 'synchronise' instead of 'overwrite' (or something similar) in a drop down box somewhere.
Or try rightclicking on 'contacts' in the lower part of the ActiveSync panel.
Activsync doesn't work with Vista. Download Windows Mobile Device Center from here....http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/help/synchronize/device-center.mspx

There is an optional setting for this. When syncing either you replace on the desktop, or on the device. I think you have to change from PC>>DEVICE to DEVICE>>PC.
How to change that option??
