Hey all,
I'm currently testing out the Beta 2 version of Microsoft Office Pro +, and apart from this issue I'm impressed so far...
When I create a calendar appointment, or task with Outlook, any details that I put in the notes section of the item used to (with Outlook 2003) transfer over to the PPC Calendar and Tasks to be able to view and edit.
But now it's blank. It copies the appointment, the times, whether it's busy/free etc, but refuses to display any of the details that I put in the notes.
Is there anything I can do about this, or is this a glitch with the new software and it's tough? I'm using a HTC Uni (T-Mobile MDA Pro), so posted it in the Universal Board, as don't know if it's a General issue with all devices or just this one.
Cheers!
Dave.
It's working for me. Sorry, that's all I can tell you.

Are you using Office 2007 with Windows XP or Windows Vista?
I'm on XP at the mo, but if you're using Vista I'll jump in the deep end and try that...
Cheers.
HI, I have the problem the other way around. I am using office 2007 beta with activesync 4.2. when I add notes to a calendar item on my universal, and then sync it with my desktop, I lose all my notes on both ppc and desktop.
This is very frustating as I am in the habit of typing meeting notes directly into calendar items on my universal.
Can anyone help, please?
Thanks in advance.
I'm using Office 2007 on Win XP. I had it running with AS 4.1 and now with 4.2. Both are no problem. I guess I just got lucky.
Has no-one any ideas how I can fix this
WM6, Vista, Office 2007 Sync Problem
Hello,
I've just upgraded my Universal (O2 Exec), to jwrightmcps' 2.02 Version
Windows Mobile 6.
While on my desktop I'm using WinXP +AS 4.5, and Office 2003 without a problem .
However, on my Laptop (ThinkPad T43), running Windows Vista Ultimate (+Windows Mobile Device Center - The equivalant of ActiveSync), and Office 2007, I'm having problem syncing the device.
I don't get any error on the laptop, but get an 0x8000FFFF error on the device.
None of my Contacts, Calendar, Tasks, Notes etc. is synced in either way.
any one got the same problem?
it is obvious that the combination is the problem, as I didn't experience any problem before upgrading to Vista. (WinXP with ActiveSync 4.5 + Office 2007 worked fine).
any ideas for solutions?

Have you updated your version of WMDC - there was an update a month or so ago. It's referred to in one of the threads on Uni Upgrading.
Bad bad bad!! I'm using final version of Vista, Final version Office 2007, Just downloaded WMDC last week and Dopod 900/universal Windows Mobile 6 Jwright.
if you open outlook 2007 and then write your contact and then in notes just write something.., after you finished synchronizing, the contact was successfully copied onto the Dopod 900, but the the note didn't get copied!
If you write the notes within the contacts under Dopod 900, and then synchronizing it, the note within contact would be copied back onto computer with no problem. so it's only the other way around the problem
Also I have a second problem: Whenever I leave my Dopod 900 synced connected with my laptop and when there is a phone call coming in then I proceed to unplug the usb to pick up the phone, This may result in some sort of data corruption in syncing status, I think. Because after that, when I try to re-synhronize the dopod 900 again, it would try to synchronize from ground 0, so it would delete every synchronized data such as contacts, tasks, calendar in my Dopod 900 and re-transfer from desktop computer into this device all over again.

I wish I could do that. I don't think I can since I'm using Vista.
Is this real?
You can't use AS 4.5 with Vista and it doesn't sync correct with Office 2007 otherwise? If that's right that is a classic Microsoft snafu.
Works fine for me with Xp and office 2007 though, on AS 4.5.

Yes it's very real. AS 4.5 not working under Vista.
Anyhow, I bought HTC Athena today and the problem didn't happen with HTC Athena. So perhaps it's device specific.

I tried installing ActiveSync 4.2...but nothing happens. There's a utility in this version of windows by the name of mobile...but that only syncs music & files.
please help if someone knows the solution.

Vista sync problem
Hi I have the same problem with Vista Beta2 5384. Using Office 2007 Beta 2.
Please help.
Have a read of the last two or three posts in this blog from the MS mobile team
http://blogs.msdn.com/windowsmobile/archive/2006/05/29/610269.aspx
Are you aware whether sync-over-wifi will be supported by the Vista interface, as that is the key missing ingredient of the current ActiveSync?
No sign of it in the beta so far, and since MS have removed it from Activesync I don't really hold out any hope of it appearing again in Vista. even if they do bring it back would it even work for WM5 devices? There doesn't appear to be an option in activesync on my MDA PRO to include a computer in a sync which was necessary in earlier versions to sync over wifi.
Hi guys, Ive just recieved my t mobile mda vario II, and pretty happy with it. I installed active sync 4.01 from the cd provided but on start up got the following message " outlooks requires outlook express 4.01 or greater ".
Not sure how to go forward really as i have outlook 2002 and outlook express 6 (which will open fine and is set as the default email client on my xp home machine).
I have searched the microsoft knowledge base, but the only advice is all realting to windows 98 and IE 5, but again I am running IE 7.
Final point really is in an attempt to fix this i have upgraded to active sync 4.5 but the error still exists.
Any help be well recieved guys thanks.
Welcome to the forum...
I think you need active sync 4.5 to be able to upgrade to some of the newer ROMS if you want to start doing that - so that upgrade was a good start.
Is everything else syncing or do you cancel the process when you see the message? Try uninstall/re-install Active sync, then when you connect your device again de-select email sync for the first couple of syncs - see if that sorts out the problem.

i think the problem is with my outlook somehow. I cannot run outlook now, but i have tried reinstalling it and active sync with no change. The problem i have is that i cannot find a standalone installer for outlook express so uninstalling and reinstalling that isnt really an option. Also, i didnt seem to get a new version of OE bundled with internet explorer 7 when i installed it...
any ideas?
I see a growing trend where a lot of people are having trouble syncing their phones with MS activesync 4.5. Is there a solution to this problem?
Does activesync 4.5 only work with WM6 and not WM5? I just reloaded all software on my puter an d put 4.5 on in readiness for loading WM6 on my phone but now it wont recognise my phone......
thanks
Scott
I am using Activesync 4.5 and no problem at all.

Scott, what version of WM6 you are using? I had that (sync) problem with the first version of Mun_Rus WM6 (due to OneNote issue in the PPC registry file). After using Mun_Rus second version of WM6, it's sync perfectly everytime.
ok, got it working but now it says
"cannot sync with the outlook profile you are using, because a different profile was previously set up or the profile is password-protected. Please open outlook using the appropriate profile.
Support code:8503001f"
Now i only have one single profile on outlook but have changed a few of the options but nothing to do with profile etc. Activesync 4.5 says it has synced with outlook (no attention req'd messages), but there is no extra stuff in outlook- mostly the tasks and calender i am after.....
What am i doing wrong and how do i fix it?

God, dammit, yeah, after three month trying to solve this I finally found a solution. If you set your @live.com or other Outlook Connector created data-file as default, then Exit Outlook, disconnect your PPC (WM6/WM5 device). In WMDC or ActiveSync ( I made it through WMDC on Win Vista ) end your partnership. Then connect your device and set up new one. Add whatever you want to sync with outlook and you are done. It works flawlessly.
Thank you ! Thank you ! Thank you !

Hi
I guess a few of you are already faced the known bug of 86000107, while synch. with 2 PC.
I faced that problem after flashing HTC Touch Cruise, a few weeks ago with the HTC Pro and now with the XPERIA.
I contacted HTC, they confirmed the issue, "we are working on that", I contacted MS, they said " we have an AKU 1.2 patch, available for ..." .- but still - all Windows Mobile 6.1 phone (at least I saw) are not able to sychronize with 2 PC.
At pda.net (http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=1117) its written that the AKU 1.2 its inlcuded (IT'S NOT!).
(2 PC means; 2 x WinXP Prof all fixes and SPs installed, 1 with Outlook 2007, 1 with Outlook 2002 at work).
I tried all work arounds, mentioned in several forums (new profile, pst check, etc.) but no changes.
What about you all guys, how are you handling this, or do you just synch with 1 PC?
All professionals Smartphones are not professional if you can't synch. in a propper way to 2 PC (which is standard since windows mobile 2003).
By the way: I gave all devices back to my shop, moved back to my good boy, called SDA with WM2003, synching within 5 min. about 3.500 contacts and closed to 4000 calendar entries without probs, what a benchmark... never reached by WM2005, 6 or 6.1.
Hoping, anyone can give me a helping hand on that, with a proofen tests.
Maybe someoen of you has a direct link to SE or MS, how they fixing the big bug.
Cheers
...
Remove sync items and re-add them.
I got this error too. Everytime I solved the problem by removing all Sync Items (Contacts, Calendar, Tasks, etc.), then re-add one by one. It'll sync again with the PC your PDA connecting to. But then if you want to sync with another PC, you have to do that again.
I accepted that way because I mostly sync with my laptop, and when going to my desktop: remove/re-add items.
--- thanks for 1 feedback.
But still. it doesn't make sense to check/ uncheck the items every time, even if you have close to 4000 calendar and contact entries (it wil ltake every time at least 2 hours, because of deleting and synchronizing).
How many of the users with XPERIA do a synch, with 2 PCs?
Are you facing that problem?
Cheers

I reported this error to SE as it was affecting me quite badly. Here is their response (after going through 3 levels of support with each one telling me it's user error):
Thank you for you response.
We can confirm that the response from our back office states that this appears to be a Windows Mobile bug when synchronising over 100 entries, which has been rectified by Microsoft.
However, the fix will be in a future software release (MR2) for the Xperia X1, which should be available in mid-quarter 2 (July).

They then go on their "remove all your sync partnerships and try again" thing which I've heard from them 100 times already.
Anyway, just thought I'd let you know that this bug will be fixed by SE soon.
Did anybody test this behaviour with the new ROM R3AA?

A Solution
Hi!
In the last weeks I did lots of research and tried many things, but that sync error reoccured even when using R3AA. Now it seems I found a solution and the real source of the problem.
First of all the problem lies NOT within windows mobile, as most people think, but within ActiveSync. The reason and the solution why I believe that is that I use now another synchronization program avoiding AciveSync and guess what: Up to now there has been no error 86000107 or any other type of problem. Everything works smoothly.
For those interested, I am using the following constellation:
- Two PCs (Vista x64 SP1 and XP SP2)
- Lotus Notes 6.5 (XP) and Outlook 2007 (Vista)
- PDAsync 4 by Laplink
Should any problem occur I will report here.

... and so you also do not use the ActiveSync tool which is built in WM! The faulty part is ActiveSync of WM, not ActiveSync running on the PC!
In my case everything works perfect with AS 4.5 on my PC and an old WM5 device. The problem occurs with my X1 only! So it's definitely a bug of WM/AS of the PDA.

Yes, didn't think of that, sounds right to me. Nevertheless using PDAsync is a working alternative to ActiveSync and on the bottom line that's IMHO the only thing that counts.

Hello,
Has anyone managed to make Mobile Device Center to talk with outlook 2010? It doesn't see it as an active mail client... There are a few posts around the net, but only questions thus far.
Where;d you get a copy of office 2010 from to test this with anyway?

I found a copy over at piratebay. Its a technical preview
Oooh well you see Santa came early this year...
It was released on MSDN, wasn't it? Torrents were out about a week earlier than that...
[EDIT] What daddy_yankee1980 said, it's a technical preview. Surprisingly complete, to tell you the truth, very fast and lots of new features, but it won't talk to ActiveSync...
Here's the error I've been getting:
Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request. Please run Microsoft Office Outlook and set it as the default mail client.
Bummer... So, noone else? Am I the only one to have seen this?

You're not alone! I have same issue with Office 2010 and Windows 7 Please let me know if you find any way to solve this!
Yea, I'm running 7.127 too, but I think the problem is with Outlook itself... they probably forgot to make it hook onto something...
I'm on the RC of Windows 7 x64 (7100) and have this issue. I really like Office 2010 so far though - it looks more grown up.
Hopefully there will be a fix for this sometime soon... don't really want to have to go back to Office 2007.

I'm having the same trouble with Device Manager and Outlook 2010 TP...

Ain't it a shame? I can't imagine how they missed this one....
Can't sync PIM - looking for solution
yeap. I have installed yesterday the Office 2010 TP and I have loved the new features especially in Outlook 2010. But I can't sync PIM data anymore too. I'm using Win7+WMDC 6.1.6965+WinMo 6.1. I don't wanna back to 2007 but if I can't find solution I will!
I have sended a e-mail to Microsoft Office 2010 Engineering Team in http://blogs.technet.com/office2010/contact.aspx asking about that ... let's wait!
Office 2010 + Windows 7 + WMDC - The Solution is here!
Works for me!
Go into Control Panel and remove the driver under Network Adapters
that appeared when my device was connected. Once removed.
Reboot Windows. Connect the device. Let Windows 7 reinstall WMDC from the download and it "slowly" install the drivers.
Done... everything works!
Maybe will be to reinstall Office 2010 too!

Um... you managed to sync your contacts/calendar with this procedure? Because this appears to just install the device, whereas the problem is with Office not being registered as a PIM...
I believe that the issue is WMDC doesnt currently support x64 Outlook 2010. I've seen a couple of reports that installing JUST the OL2k7 application (custom/advanced install deselect everything apart from OL2k7) over the top works as a workaround.
Yet to be able to test this as away from home....
I had to keep Outlook 2007 too, as 2010 technical preview doesn't have WMDC providers.
Also, the same happens with OneNote 2010, but there I had to uninstall OneNote 2010, reinstall ON 2007 and unpair/pair the smartphone to get OneNote mobile to sync again. Once I install ON 2010 to the working setup, it breaks again.
So, if you want to sync, don't install Outlook and ON 2010, keep 2007 .
O2010TP
64-bit doesn't work but x86 version does allow full sync on all apps - including Outlook.
Anyone have any problems sync'ing with OneNote 2010? I'm using the x86 version and the onenote option doesn't appear in the content sync settings menu anymore.
having the same problem ... don't want to roll back to the 2007 ... ^^
