opera pics blurry on hd2 ..helpppppp?? - HD2 General

when i zoom in on website pics, pics and text are blurry as hell. it looks terrible . need help, how do i fix this??????

Disable "Turbo Mode"...

on opera 9????
how do you turn turbo off???

This was why I changed to Opera 10.. Wouldnt go back to 9 now. I never use pinch to zoom anyway.

It is blurry because of the dot pitch. You're actually stretching that image to 800 pixels wide.
(Edit: A better resize algorithm could help too)

Maybe you are with Tmobile, they use terrible image compression to save on bandwidth. well in the UK atleast.

Low resolution images with Opera

A colleague of another website pointed this, which went unnoticed until I paid attention. The problem is simple, fire Opera, load any website and see the images rendered in half resolution. All the images look pixelated when you double tap to zoom in; if you zoom in further it gets worser.
Anyone else?
Opera Mini 4.2 doesn’t have this problem, the built in Opera Mobile does.
Most likely your network proxy compressing them on the fly to save their bandwidth. I'm fairly sure orange do it.
Nope, I'm on WiFi connected to a network without any kind of proxy.

Also im noticing similar for example in Rss Hub, pictures just look disgusting, comprared to NetNewsWire in iphone for example. Opera is not this ugly, but I noticed that too when i got this phone. I thought its just my imagination...
I have the same problem also in PIE., but in opera it's even worst.
I have just tried with my Diamond, and same thing. So it must be Opera that has designed the browser to present lower resolution images in order to preserve memory or speed up browsing. Nevertheless, it's a pity that you don't have the real thing on such a high resolution screen.
Opera Mini 4.2 does use full resolution images, but more compressed. It looks much better.
and there's nothing in opera:config
Yes, I've looked at opera.ini but there's nothing related. The registry doesn't have any setting either .
Nice to find you also here igalan (nos leemos...).
Doesn't look so bad for me.
Make a try with google images in full resolution and zoom in. No pixelation at all until you zoom too much
Hi man!
Ok, I've found the reason of all this. When you double tap on Opera, the zoom level that is being applied is larger than 100% which means that pictures are stretched and results in some pixelation. Manually reducing the zoom level until you get the page rendered in 1:1 resolution (not zoomed out or zoomed in) gets you full quality images as well.
i connected my laptop up to mt hd via wifi to use it's HSDPA connection. browsing in firefox images are rendered in half resolution. when i hover over an image a message appears saying press shift+r to improve the quality of this image. when i do that it downloads the image again in full resolution.
the fact that i'm using firefox on my laptop and just using the internet connection on my phone makes me think that my network provider is the problem.
what do you think?

Try the following:
Increase Quality of Photos
To increase the quality of photos, open the Camera, go to Settings, Advanced, then Image Properties. Increase Contrast to 5, Saturation to 5, and Sharpness to 4. Now you will have better definition and much more realistic colours. Also don't forget to choose Super Fine under Quality in Advanced Settings menu.
Reduce Blurriness in Photos
To focus better, have shutter set just to Touch. After you have touched you have the whole three seconds to steady your hand and take a non-blurry photo.
Activate Hidden Photo Modes HD Tweak can also be used for this
You can activate hidden photo modes using the 'HD Tweak' app. Make sure to leave the resolutions for these modes at 1 megapixel though or they may not work properly. For for the more advanced users, use the following reg entries:
To enable Burst mode
Mobile Device\HKLM\Software\HTC\Camera\P6
set "Enable" on "1"
To enable Sports mode:
Mobile Device\HKLM\Software\HTC\Camera\P8
set "Enable" on "1"
To enable Video Share mode:
Mobile Device\HKLM\Software\HTC\Camera\P9
set "Enable" on "1"
To enable GPS Photo mode:
Mobile Device\HKLM\Software\HTC\Camera\P10
set "Enable" on "1"
Get True 5 Mega pixel Resolution When Using Camera
To get 5MP instead of 4MP resolution when using your camera, you must switch off Widescreen mode in the 'Advanced' Menu.
Normal screen = 2592 x 1944 pixels = 5,038,848 pixels = 5MP
Widescreen = 2592 x 1552 pixels = 4,022,784 pixels = 4MP
Get Better Video Quality When Using Camera
Use MPEG format instead of H.263 for better quality video output. This option can be found by going to the Advanced Setting from the Video Settings menu. Once there, go to Capture Format and change format if necessary.
Hope this helps
thanx alot
There's nothing can be done for indoor shots, the camera unit is simply rubbish. The only way to cope is to be ultra steady, during the approx 1/4 second it takes for it to take the picture.
Outdoors shots are fine though.

I tried 3mp, widescreen, n timer settings to 2-3 seconds...the shrpnes contrast all to defalut and the quality to fine (super fine is more noise) and then wen i take pic..its completely in focus n not over colored....u try that...i tried ur settings but still crappy pics (Nokia N73 takes better pics at 3 Mp..)

But be brutally honest I was very disappointed with the camera.
Outdoors
It's not bad taking pictures of scenery & buildings
Indoors
Very poor quality
Movement
Been trying to take pics of my baby son, but the wee bugger won't sit still, so pictures are crap!!
HTC have got to start improving there camera in line with other manufacturers. Generally I find them a step or 2 behind

yeah i was too, the software and specs that are bulit into the phone you would expect a much better quality camera, not even flash is avalible. Apparently there is a flash built in the phone but not deadicated for the camera, i will assume there will be some download which will make this flash to be intergrated with the camera.

Flash built in it? Are you sure? Where?
Maybe Adobe Flash Plugin

That's to be expected - on a sensor this size 3mp will always take better pics than 5mp.
well just now tried 5 Mp mode as well.... works sometimes...other times doesnt.. totally zzzz scene...and taking indoor pics + poor light = forget it...it wont shoot a decent pic no matter what settings i choose...u got to have a SOURCE of LIGHT IN the roon ( bulb or tube lights .. else dnt even bother taking the camera out.. so im not so dissapointed with the camera (4/10)

And found that it has increased the camrera very well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let me know if you figure away to take a photo of your baby and its clear, i have a month old and same thing happens, everytime i take a photo he is moving too much, end up using my g/fs s.e. to take photo and blue tooth across, but shouldnt have to go through that hassle all the time

flash yr HD with latest ROM from dutty. you'll be amazed by the difference.
it seems that HTC really patched it in the latest ROMs!
here uy have an example: a snapshot of my pc screen under fluorescent light (worse conditions). is it really so bad for a PPC camera?

i did it intentionally. i wanted to prove a point. i know that i can take outdoors pics better than this one. i already did it. the most important thing is not to forget that the camera on any PPC is only an add-on and its use should never go beyond occasionally "i forgot my camera home" moments. if somebody wants good pics.... buy a dedicated camera!! do not have high expectations from an "accessory".
my HD is first a c o m u n i c a t i o n device and second a personal digital assistant (PDA). this are the only fields i am very "choosy". if somebody will sell me such a device without a camera....fine with me!

and how do you turn off the auto focus?
touch focus setting makes little to no difference and it still tries to focus after the shutter key is pressed.

Images on Internet blurry/pixely

I was wondering if anyone is also having this problem.. when i use the net on my phone some of the images are just too blurry is there any way to fix this.. and yes i have searched the forums and google but can't seem to find a solution...tia
What browser are you using? Opera Mobile 9.7? Opera Mobile 10 has an option to compress pictures that may have been enabled (who wouldn't enable a "turbo" mode?), and Opera Mini does it by default.
i was using Opera 9.7 and 10 but its still the same... i did however notice on skyfire
that they looked a bit better
Try looking at them on internet explorer. Notice any difference?
The problem is that the browsers are not drawing images at a 1:1 pixel ratio, instead they're being stretched awkwardly and no filter is being applied.
For Opera 9.7, you can use the opera:config menu to fix this, just on the area for "Adaptive Zoom", change the "Default Zoom" to 100 and for extra credit change the Virtual Window Width to 1024 (most pages are designed to work on a 1024-wide window).
After this, your full zoom-out will show the whole page fitted left-to-right. When you double-tap to zoom-in, you'll be at 1:1 (usually, sometimes it takes more than one try, zooming is kinda shaky) pixel ratio, so all your images will look crisp and sharp.
There's nothing you can do about Opera 10, they screwed it up and there's no way to get the pixel ratio on images at 1:1, the same can be said about IE and Skyfire (though both of those do a better job at applying some filters to images).
There's something about HVGA that browsers don't like...

Opera Mobile's "Turbo" is horribly broken. Most of the time page-loading will be a lot slower with "Turbo" on (most noticeable while using WiFi).

Ok thanks Jubeh i followed your configs and it did improve image viewing... i'm glad you know more about this because i couldn't find a solution so thank you my friend

large pictures pixelated

when I go on the browser and view a webpage that has a large picture file (well.. really really long picture..vertically) i can't seem to view it right..
if it's just a couple of scrolls down long then it's okay, but if it's longer than that, it seems to pixelate the pictures and i can kinda zoom out.. make it smaller and then look at it, but it's really really hard to read the texts as they are hardly visible after being pixelated..
any option/setting to fix this??

Pixelated Image when zoomed on Gallery

My pictures become pixelated when zoomed on Gallery.
They look sharp if I don't zoom at all, but as soon as I zoom (Even a little bit). I can see the pixelation.
The picture is a 300 dpi one with resolution of 1748 x 2480.
But, with no zoom at all, they look perfectly sharp.
Is this normal? because the same picture looks sharp in my desktop monitor even though I zoomed it?
thanks

Also, I find that I'm unable to share this picture with whatsapp, bbb, etc.
But I was able to share my other pictures.
So, I reduced the resolution to 875 x 1240, and now not only was I able to share this picture with my friends,
but when zooming this picture on Gallery (after the resolution has been reduced), it doesn't get pixelated!
Is this a bug on Note 3 ? So I can't send picture with high resolution ?
Nu such issue on Quickpic. Give that a try.
Whatsapp downscales images severely by default, by the way.

btw this only happens to pictures that I uploaded from my computer, that have hi resolutions.
This doesn't apply to hi res pictures taken from the Note 3 camera.
This is weird.
Thanks I'll try Quickpic, but it still doesn't solve the problem of not being able to share hi res pics in whatsapp/bbm.
I'll test.
4752x3168 300dpi 13,9MB taken with a DSLR: Sharing works. The image looks horribly downscaled in Whatsapp due to their automatic scaling, but it works fine.
I can't test the Stock Gallery, as it freezes upon opening by default. It has no 'exclude folders' option, and I have one folder that contains 8392 saved websites+files(in folders). As you can imagine, that tends to overload the app.

update:
I changed the Photoshop file Mode to RGB (it was CMYK originally), then save the file to JPEG and transfer it to my Note 3.
Now there's no problem in zooming in and sharing the file.
So I guess CMYK is not really compatible in Note 3/mobile?
