I had a recent error with my Telus (unlocked) HTC Hero. It all of a sudden said my phone storage was full even though when I checked in the settings, it said I had tons of room.
Some apps stopped working, and my flash in my browser would stop working. It all happened within a day. It deleted my email account settings and my browser settings, history, etc.
I just hard reset my phone. Obviously fixed it but I'm just wondering if this is a known issue.
i get this message when i try to install "iperf" from market on villain5.2 with apps2sd+dc. all other apps install fine, i haven't got around to look into it (and probably won't...)

This is odd. The phone has been working without a glitch and all of a sudden I tried to open an email and got a FC error. I can see the list of emails but cant open any of them. It still syncs ans shows new incoming emails but I cant open them. I deleted the couple apps that I recently installed, restarted, wiped out the exchange account, reset the account and still getting the same error.
any help? Its not rooted if that matters.
Bump.... I've emailed HTC as well and no solution still. If it is any indication, it is the com.android.email process that locks up each time.
not that anyone seemed to care, a hard reset did resolve the issue once setup again. hopefully it just doesn't start doing it again.
This also started today for me, rebooting didn't do anything, and I would rather not reset everything. Deleting the account and creating it did not work.
post up if you figure anything out. Mine is still working fine since the hard reset but I really dont want to have to do that every week.
Try doing this to rest your email app only:
Settings-Applications-Manage Apps-email-clear date, clear cache
That is your best bet to avoid having to do a full factory reset.
As well, you can also check out TouchDown by Dataviz. Amazing exchange email client! You can get a free 5 day full demo before you buy it. Well worth the money, IMHO.
2 weeks ago I flashed PA 3.6 on my N4. after a day or so i noticed that i was not receiving any incoming emails on a Hotmail or exchange account. BUT if i went into the email account and manually hit the "sync" button emails would populate. I was previously on a PA 3.XX Rom and had no issue.
I installed the new rom, wiped cache, installed Gapps update, Fix and still nothing. The only new app i installed was Swipe, i uninstalled that, cleared email app cache and still nothing unless i manually sync. I then moved up to PA 3.65 yesterday and the same issue. So i decided to delete all the email accounts and re-create them. Now it lets me create an account and verified the credentials on the accounts but never completes a "sync" and seems to be stuck in a constant loop.
This is on wifi or the network. Anyone have similar issues? i have found no posts regarding this. Worst case i could just do a factory reset and try that if i have to.
Thanks!
I get this all the time with new ROMs. The last ROM that acted up was MakoColors, before that was MIUI, then PA before that. It must just take time, because my Nandroid backups (I rotate between PA and MIUI every week or so; I love them) seem to be working. I encounter it every single time I try a new ROM, then it just magically fixes itself after a few days. I don't understand it either, OP. I have a Gmail and a Hotmail account; the Hotmail account is the only one that has problems (makes sense that the Gmail one wouldn't act up). I have no idea how to fix it though. It's quite annoying.
I wish that was the case. I had 3.6 installed for about 9 days and it was still the same story. I've tried to change from push to a different interval and back to push and same outcome.
Ok, I gotta bump this thread because I'm now getting this problem with the 4.3 leak. My email refuses to sync no matter what I do. It's a Hotmail account. Anyone know what could be the cause? Stuck on the sync screen with no emails or anything on my phone.

I fixed my issue by doing a factory wipe. nothing else worked no matter how many times I flashed.
let it in peace, it will sync. this is not a problem with a rom, not pa or miui or whatever you flash - it just takes times. i recently bought my mom a macbook air, it took one hour until her mails were there, when i set up one of my android device i just put them away to allow them to get sync their stuff. i noticed especially in the legacy mail app this can take quite long but you can be certain there is no difference between stock android and PA in that regard.
I flashed pa 3.65 and it worked, I just had to start clean. dirty flash was producing the same result every Rom I flashed.
I had this happen to my Nexus 7. For about a month. No play store. It linked fine, I could go into the play store on the N7, just couldn't install from the browser. A little inconvenience, but no biggy. Today I wanted to squash it. lol.
What I did was clear data and uninstall updates from settings-apps-all. Then opened up the play store and saw it was the old version of play, which was fine. Exited out and went back into the play store. I got a message that I needed to enable or download the play services app from the play store, which is weird because I already have it. So what I did there was clear all data in that app and sign into the play services app. Again, exited out and went back into the play store. Play updated automagically, but I still couldn't see the N7 listed under my devices in my browser. I let it go for about an hour because I got busy at work. Decided that if it didn't show up by the end of the day, I would factory reset and redo everything. So I began my titanium backup.
Before that, I let TB and went into the market update helper to attach the apps again to the market. Then I started my apps and data backup just in case I needed to do a factory reset.
About a hour later, I see the N7 back under my settings.
I have a rooted Galaxy S4 GT-I9500 with Android 4.2.2 for the last 3 weeks and it worked without any problems. Since 3 days however the contact stock app crashes / doesnt open at all with black screen or freezes with the message "Updating contact list...". I didn't change any settings or installed any new apps during that time. The error also seems to crash the call stock app, where call log, favorites, contacts etc. are also not displayed. In most cases when the error appears I cannot even open the call app and initiate a phone call. Incoming calls just show the number but do not get matched to any contacts.
The error appears randomly and then lasts for 2-3 hours, after which the app works again normally. Rebooting, clearing cache or clearing dalvic cache has no effect.
All my contacts are synched with Google, Samsung account, Twitter, Facebook & Linkedin. I have tried deactivating each & all of the syncs but this had no effect. I also tried displaying only contacts with numbers or only contacts from a certain account in settings but this also had no effect on the error.
Any other suggestions on what could be tried to fix this? Thank you very much in advance!
I might have traced down the reason for this and it could be related to the "sync people details" option for the Google account sync. I have now deactivated the sync and have to monitor if the error still occurs. Has anyone else experienced similar problems due to this setting?

Same problem here, occurred at about the same date early sep 2013 with the same phone.... Galaxy S4, T Mobile, Android 4.2.2. The android.process.acore goes ape**** and block all apps that use the contact list: I can no longer text, phone or email, for a couple of hours. After that, everything goes back to normal for half a day like nothing ever happened. Then all hell break lose again. I called T-Mobile, Samsung and Google.
T-Mobile has the same fix for any conceivable problem: reinstall the entire system OR change the phone. How subtle!
Samsung won't deal with any client problem whatsoever.
Google was the best - hands down. They spent time with me trying to figure the problem out. Ultimately, they recommended rooting the phone - which is not great because I use wifi calling, which requires a bit of tmobile code. Frankly, I would love to get rid of TMobile's bloatware, but they have a way to control their clients with wifi calling.
Still working on getting this pb resolved.

I installed an app called "Contact Remover", deleted all contacts and then re-synched them and at the same time deactivated the sync for the "Sync People Details" option. Since then the error only appeared one more time (no idea why ..) but it seems as if that mostly fixed the issue.
Possible solution

It looks like disabling all unnecessary sync relieves the performance to a normal level.
In particular, disabling "Sync Contacts" (under Accounts/Skype) from Skype made a big improvement performance for my SG4.
Stock, non-rooted GN3. Verizon. Stock launcher. 4.4.2.
I've noticed in the last week or so, possibly more, that even though I have "Auto-update Apps on WiFi only" enabled, as I have since getting the phone last fall, it no longer Auto-updates at all.
I can open the Play Store, go to 'My Apps' and there is a list of Apps there waiting to be updated.
The only change I've made, which was made at least a month ago, and which I'm fairly sure predates this behavior, was to stop Google Search from autoupdating by unchecking the appropriate box. (It created some problems with my Bluetooth devices, taking over response away from S-Voice which I preferred, and some other issues).
My WiFi connection is solid.
I've turned off (through the usual methods) a small number of apps (Audible, Caller Name ID, Group Play, Isis Mobile Wallet, NFL Mobile, S Health, Slacker, Voice Mail).
Any idea what is causing this behavior, and how I can fix it?
(As a secondary item, it seems I can no longer access the option to enable or disable auto-update for an individual app - has this been moved or changed? I go to the App in the play store, and nothing happens when I hit the menu button at the bottom left, which is where I thought I remembered accessing that option before.)
Well, I found the answer at Android Central. Went to Google Play Store in Applications in settings, and cleared Cache and Data. Restarted the Play Store App, and everything returned to normal.
Not sure what happened to the Play Store App itself, but something had gone awry there, and the data/cache clear reset it.
Mystery solved.
Sometime within the last week, I noticed that I stopped receiving email notifications on my phone. I can still retrieve email manually (both through Inbox and the Gmail app), but unless I open the app it won't refresh. I've tried messing with the notification settings - none of which were turned off or disabled - and I've even removed and re-added my Google accounts. No effect!
I'm not sure what else I should be trying, or why this would even be occurring. I haven't noticed any other apps giving me the same issues; for instance, Facebook and my Twitter client (Fenix) both continue to push notifications just fine. Any advice on what I could try next? Thanks in advance!
Have you wiped data of Google play services by any chance? That will cause this every time without fail.
It should sort itself out eventually, I found a good article describing what happens when Google play services data is wiped and it causes mayhem with syncing your Google account.
Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
I know I have before, but I don't think it was recently. That's really good to know now! I'm contemplating just doing a full wipe because all these tiny problems are starting to get at me. Removing your Google account plays havoc with apps now.
I used to have this same issue when I used Inbox on my last device and never really came across any fix while searching for answers. Never had it happen with Gmail, so that's odd you're having that same issue. Only thing I can recommend is trying another email app. I use BlueMail now and have no issues with not getting notifications.
With app issues, specially with Google Apps, I recommend rebooting to Safe Mode and testing the app.
1. Hold Power Button until Power Off shows.
2. Hold Power Off until "Reboot to Safe Mode" appears.
3. Click "Reboot to Safe Mode".
4. See if the issue persists.
Check the sync
Also, check if you jave restricted the background data at the data usage
I checked everything you guys recommended, nothing seemed to help. In a rage I factory reset the phone, and everything is peachy now. Instant emails galore. No idea what that implicates as the cause.

I think that the April factory image definitely has issues. Mine was battery problems, but all is fine after flashing Mays image. There was a sync issue with all Gmail users for a while but that seems to be fixed now as well.
