I know there was some confusion regarding the trade in value, what was the outcome?
I've just received my cheque and it is only £30, when people have questioned this have they then received an additional £20 or not?
Cheers
When I got my Exec from the O2 shop, I traded in an old Nokia 5110 with a spent battery, and was led to believe I would get a £50 cheque back.
However, within the month I received a cheque from O2 for £36, I didn't question this as I assumed I didn't get the full £50 because of the dead battery. Then about 3 weeks later I received another cheque, this time from "Foneback" (I guess they are a phone recycling scheme?) for £20. I therefore got a total of £56 for a dodgy old Nokia.
Not bad.....
Paul.
My cheque is from fonebak, o2 customer services have suggested I go back to the store I purchased it from
Same issue, bought mine on 30th November, told £50, just got cheque for £30. rang O2 store in Woking where I got it - they said ring Customer service who said deal with store. Store said they would call back - ahhh.
Anyone got the 02 brochure and can scan in where it says £50 trade in?
Scott
£30.... :x
I got £30 from Foneback...
Being aware of the issues of the £30 & £50 I contacted customer services who confirmed that the trade-in is for £50 and I kept my brochure as I knew it would come in handy.
Contacted customer services and they claim they have no idea about it etc.
Will wait 'til after Xmas to give them a piece of my mind!!!
Hi,
If you have the brochure, any chance of scanning it in where it says £50 trade in, may help others if they need to prove it against the word of th salesperson

Not sure if the brouchure will help, it say 'Upto £50 tradein' depending on the model of phone
I have the scan...
I will email it to those who need it.
They are telling me to go to the shop to sort it out etc.
I am not keen to do that but let me how all of you get on!!!
Thanks

Contact the Store
They will contact Fonebak and arrange the necessary. Make sure you speak to the manager of the store as they are best placed to confirm the situation.
Mine is being dealt with tomorrow and I will advise of any update.
Latest
I have been told that the £50 was only while the phone was priced £199 etc. and that once the price was cut to £79.99 the trade-in reduced to £30. I said not fair as I was told £50 etc, so they are looking at it again. I guess it is a case of being persistent, but it is only £20 and our time is worth more than that.
Same here, I went into to the store today, and the chap I spoke to said I was wrong.
He instantly turned to the page with the XDA Mini, and the £30, ahhh but thats the January catalogue not the December ohh he said I'll speak to the manager....
The manager says if I want to pay the £159 then I can have a £50 trade in, my reply was no chance you cannot change the rules after the customer has purchased the goods....
I requested that the manager came and spoke to me, he agreed that there was a printing issue, my reply was that this is o2 problem not mine. He would request a £20 credit to my account. Couldn't do it immediatley would take my details and call me back..... Guess what no call, I'll be back tomorrow....
It's not acceptable. I had a verbal aggrement that I would get a £50 cheque back as per the catalogue. Any deviation from this is a breach of (verbal) contract and should be treated as such (with a letter to your local trading standrads office, coppied to the hapless idiots at O2)...
i only got 30 pounds when they told me i would get 50, whats my best plan of action to get the other 20 pound
After two promised phone calls from the store manager that never happened, I went into the store and made a lot of noise....result.
Manager has now confirmed that a £20 cheque has been approved and will be with me by Wednesday....
Also I've not yet seen a bill for my Mini S, so this could be a very cheap device, its well over a month so I should have received one by now.
FINALLY
O2 customer services were unable to help but due to an £8 billing error and the hassle with the trade-in fiasco, they credited my account with £20, so I am happy!!!
Following on from this, I contacted the store and Ellie form O2 at Watford did nothing as promised and did not get in touch with me. I called her and she denied any knowledge and so on etc.
Today I rang Fonebak and they are fully aware of the issue. I spoke to a lady called Lyndsay who answered the phone. She confirmed there had been an error and that she would send me a cheque for £20 in the post today. All she needs is confirmation that you have purchased and XDA Mini S and did so prior to Xmas 2005. She has all the info in front of her so don't try to be too smart. Give her your surname and postcode and she will confirm the rest to you.
Good luck and finally!!!
I received a $10 Amazon.com gift certificate today but it's almost worthless to me:
I live in the Netherlands
I hardly ever buy from Amazon
If I do, I buy from Amazon.co.uk, not Amazon.com (cheaper and lowershipping charges inside Europe)
and the gift certificate is only valid on amazon.com, not amazon.co.uk...
So
I'M GIVING IT AWAY
If you are living in the US , are an amazon client and want this $10 gift certificate, please send me a PM with your email address (replace the ampersant sign by the word AT) and place a message in this thread saying that you did. So others can see that they're too late.
This is a ONE time offer for ONE SINGLE gift certificate for ONE person only.
no strings attached
Thank you....PM sent
PM received, check sent, case closed
awwww.....if only i had come earlier
come on ather, I would have loved to've given it to you, but since when is Muharraq in the US?
Sorry, my fault, I forgot to mention that I was looking for someone in the US. Anyhow, I only had one GC
OH !!..i thought its for every one..sorry
I added a line to my family plan on 8/10.. my billing period ends on the 11th of every month. I logged on to pay for that month and it shows that total charges are $250, but amount due is $550. I called tech support and the lady was as puzzled as i was and concluded that probably my payment for the last bill hasn't posted to the account yet. So i was advised to wait till the previous payment populates into the system (although it was there in the payment history on my account online).
I let it be and got an email yesterday saying i need to contact customer service. I called and it was regarding my bill which still has $550 for the billing cycle ending on 8/11. BUT now we know the source of the rogue $300. On my aug-sept. bill it has an adjustment of $300. After 5 minutes on the phone with the billing agent it was determined that the adjustment is a deposit for the addition of the 5th to the family plan. I was transferred to customer service where the rep was just as confused as i was. He recommended that my best bet was to go to the actual store that i added the other line at and see if they can do anything.
No i have two concerns that really frustrate me! 1. When i added the line there was no mention of a credit check or the need for a $300 deposit! Why would the rep fail to mention this?!? ok so might of been somewhere in the fine print but something like this SHOULD have been pointed out!
Second of all I started the initial contract 4 years ago for one line. Converted it to a family plan about 10 months after that with a total of 3 lines. A year after that added a fourth line. A couple months after that I switched to another family plan. ALL this and never was asked for a deposit.. WHY would they need the deposit all of a sudden for the 5th line when all it is is and extra 9.99 each month?!? And to add it to my bill without my consent?!? Also the rep noticed that it was added to the bill as an "Adjustment" and not a deposit.
Has anyone had anything similar happen? Will they actually remove the $300 at the store because i was confused as to why they couldn't help me on the phone. Anyone here work for AT&T or another carrier and know of the correct way to take care of this?
Thanks for reading.. just thinking about this gets my blood boiling.. lets hope i stay calm in the store and don't give them an earful!
i chose the wrong time to quit smoking... ha
Did you buy an iPhone with the 5th line? Since AT&T subsidizes the iPhone's cost instead of Apple they do credit checks to see if it's safe to sell you the phone.
@fone_fanatic: do you have any "not good" activity in your account e.g late payment?
It had happended to my friend's account, too. She was charged for $300 each line which merges to one family account due to her bad behaviour (brought up to 4 lines total, nothing relates to iphone.) Those charges will be returned once the contract is ended, the rep said. However, after sweet talk with a rep, I sucessfully convinced him to waive those charges.
Good luck to you.
Thanks for your replies guys..
It wasn't an iphone, it was a SE wanna be smartphone.
And i always pay my bill in full... when i was on the phone with the billing rep she told me since i was in good standing she was able to extend the payment due date so i wouldn't get disconnected.
Actually when i first opened the account with the initial line they did ask for a deposit but i talked them out of it.
I'm just hoping they'll be allowed to refund it now even though its been past 30 days.
Ive been trying all day to buy the phone for $180 subsidized price, but when prompted to see if i qualify for an upgrade, the check hangs and then tells me that the tmobile servers are either busy or unreachable, then google tells me to buy the unlocked phone. anyone else having this problem? im a g1 owner, with the data plan already a part of my subscription, and i want to know if i can just sign another 2 year contract to get this phone for less than the half-grand it costs unlocked. anybody else?
Just keep trying. I had been trying all day to order and was getting the same issue. It finally went through about 10 minutes ago. It showed me I could only get $150 of the price of $530 because I was upgrading and existing line. I called Tmo and basically told me to piss off and they have no control.
So I ended up doing the option to add a line to my plan and it gave me the $180 price.
thanks for the reply... it seems as though some people are getting through. i fear i might have to spend about 350 on the phone though... considering im a current g1 owner with the proper data plan already.
The $350 was a bit to much for me as well. If your current line is out of contract just do the option to add a new line to your account on the google site. Once you get the phone call T-Mobile and cancel your old line and tell them to submit a "request old number back" request. Within 24 hours your original number will replace the new number you were given. When that's done everything will be the same as before except you will have a contract.
That should work fine. I worked in tmobile customer care for the last 4 years up until June.

To me it looks to good to be true.
If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is...
investing the time and effort into building up the feedback rating (whether legitimately or not) will pay off if he receives even just 2 or 3 orders from suckers who are prepared to believe this and order 2 phones each (notice you cannot order 1). After that, he won't care if eBay cancel his membership especially as he probably has a few accounts like this lined up...
Note that:
- nothing he has sold before was similar or close in value to the phone (although most items made private so you can't actually see what they are)
- he seems to specialise in pin badges... what are the chances he would have a stock of S4?
- you have to be pre-approved? what does that involve? I bet when you email him he asks you NOT to pay by paypal but by western union or something for some reason... typically this goes like this: "I'm doing this pre-approval because I have been let down by scammers/people bidding and then not having the funds. To approve you, I need to be sure that you have the funds, so send a western union order to yourself. YOu are not sending it to me, so it's safe, right? Then email me a scan of the order and I will know that you are a serious buyer". Once you send the email, it takes someone in a third world country 5 minutes to create ID in your name and collect the money from a (probably complicit) Western Union agent.
- No collection because he doesn't keep the stock for "security and reliability" but he can dispatch them daily?
Not many people fall for these scams(I hope)... but like i said, he only wants one or two to be in a considerable amount of profit.

how can he make profit cos its paypal so ill get refunded. so where would he make money i dont understand
when i sent him e mail he replied as below
Hi,
Quick info about my items:
- 100% factory unlocked, 100% genuine Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9500 in original sealed boxes. I have both colors: White and Black.
- I have EU, UK and US version of the phone with 64GB. You can use them in any country with any sim card.
- The phones are bought directly from factory and also this is the reason why the prices are low. They all have 1 year international warranty.
- I can send them with DHL, FedEx, UPS, Royal Mail or your preferred shipping company. The items are sent from my warehouse in Glasgow.
- Free Customs. That is right... Free Customs. I gathered a lot of experience sending items internationally and Customs are not a problem anymore.
- As you can see in my description: Pickup is not available at this time as i do not hold stock on hand for security and reliability reasons.
- I will provide IMEI and custom photos ONLY after i have payment confirmation from eBay.
Minimum order is 2 (no exceptions). My stock is greater than 20 and also you will get great discounts for bulk orders. How many phones do you want ?
Thanks

just recieved mail from seller i cant understand much english is this a cheat?
here his e mail
They are out for sale in April but the stores already have them. Some buyers asked for IMEI so i`m including that info.
In order to complete this transaction we will use eBay payment process through eBay Buyer Protection.
How it works?
Once i start the transaction, eBay will send you an invoice with payment instructions.
Through this system the buyer pays eBay and not the seller. You will send the money to eBay by Bank Transfer. After you confirm your payment with eBay, i will receive a notification to start the delivery.
Delivery maximum time is 6 days and you have 7 days of inspection. The inspection period starts once you have the items. This means you have 7 days to decide whether i get the money or not.
In case the items are not as i described them, the transaction is canceled and eBay will send your money back in 24 hours. If they are as i described them, the transaction is completed and i will get the money from eBay.
I found this the best way to deal through eBay instead of Paypal. Also you can actually see and test my items before i get the money.
I had problems with Paypal payments made from stolen accounts and now everything i get through Paypal, even if it`s a good payment it`s frozen in seconds. Paypal is not an option for me anymore.
Let me know if you like this method.
Thanks

That has SCAM written all over it. You would have limited protection if doing this thru bank transfer rather than PayPal.
