I have a tip. Be patient. Darch has already said that it will be included in his next release which will be very soon. I would just sit back, relax, and wait for Darch to do his thing, because there is no reason to pre-invent the wheel that will be invented very shortly lol

I agree with ya there, I'm not trying to discourage you in any way. I am only trying to save you some work that you don't need to do. If you wanna keep trying to learn, more power to ya
On another note, I have only used those two methods you linked in the first post, so if those don't work, I wouldn't know what else to try... Sorry I couldn't help out

I think it may have something to do with what his rom is built off of, not to sure at this point, but it's got element in it that I have never seen!
I guess I just sit back and wait

Well right now a kernel exploit would be nice. Or a test signed img from HTC, if anyone has some inside contacts at HTC than start asking them if they can hook you up with a test image.

yeah a dump would be a good start.
Seems like for the popularity of the phone there is a shortage of devs on the root...wish there were more a commoner like me could do...
Isnt the incredible already rooted?
Nope there are some uncomfermd reports but...... picts or it didn't happen.

are you just getting new ones via the warranty? It'll be a while before I can get a replacement if mine is bricked. They are all sold out here.

If the Defy can do it, why can't we? It has a locked bootloader too. I bet I sound pretty stupid because there is something I'm missing, but oh well...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1033654
A quick glance says that they're using update.zip files to clobber /system, so they're not touching the bootloader. So this should be doable, although I believe that our CWM could use some more work.

To tell you the truth, I was thinking somewhere along those lines also.

If it's doable, there probably is someone already doing it, just keeping quiet till a working version is reached. This phone is quite new, I think we just need some patience...

Ahh. And another thing, anybody know what "2nd init" is?
Wow. Didn't know that was possible. That'd be awesome if we actually got CM7!

Haha thanks. Yea I tried "2nd init" and "2nd init androrid" and couldn't find that. I wonder what you searched...
Anyways this is 2.3.3 they have running on the Defy, and I had no clue this was even close to possible. We got some pro dev's? Pay the guy who ported Cyanogen to the Defy money for an Atrix and money for a monthly AT&T bill and maybe he'll do it

Wish I knew how to do this stuff. I'd be all over it if I knew.
I posted over there asking if he would mind stopping by our forum or the IRC channel and giving us a few pointers. We'll see if he does I guess...

Assuming he's talking about Quarx. The TC of the Defy CM7 topic.
I wonder if he'd be willing to give some devs pointers. Or even attempt this himself
It all starts here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1026853
We'd have to port that before anything else...
He says something about Korean developers... Ah ha! That's what has been missing from this equation all along!
Yeh, you are probably right. And as next step would be understanding the current cm7 defy port and maybe try do to the same thing using cm7 harmony as a base.
I could try doing it, I'm a quite experienced java developer (6+ years) and wouldn't have problems learning it BUT, as I already sold my old Nexus One, Atrix is my current phone and I don't wanna risk it... =/

Well everyone,
I regret to inform you all that my time with my beloved Vibrant has come to an abrupt end.
Due to finally being hit by the EU bug, and with my vibrant's port being broken and being unable to mount to my pc....
I'm afraid that my time is over. Although I will continue working on fixing my phone in the coming weeks, maybe fate is
just telling me that it's time to move on Sigh.
It's been a pleasure guys, I'll miss my vib, and the wonderful community. Not sure what my next device will be...my upgrade is coming up, so I guess it's time to start shopping :/

Flashed it like I've done a thousand times before, and BAM
hit me with the bug. Followed Wood's thread, only to realize that after repartitioning my SD I needed to
be able to connect to my pc and put an ICS zip on my SD.....xD (I know, I know....shoulda read ahead)
Thats awful. Maybe you will find a phone for parts or something.

As many of you know, I had a kernel named Singularity. I chose to cease development. As users still want the kernel, I am looking for someone to take over. If you are interested PM and if I decide your serious Ill give you the source
I would love it if someone would take this over! I don't know Jack about coding but have been very happy with the kernel. Maybe one of the kernel devs could build it as a side project to their own or at least go through the code and give some feedback as to the viability of adopting it...

its not on xda anymore and the source isn't either.
I wish i had the time and ingenuity to take it.
But I don't.
If I were to do it updates would be inconsistent and I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to keep it up nearly as well as apophis did.
But thank you @apophis9283 for the offer to allow someone to take over

I just added cpuquiet to my source. I am going to test it and just post source here for anyone who wants it. I dont need one person to carry on the kernel, everyone can have access and it will go on that way. Have fun.

Yeah that was Yoinx. Hes a great guy, I actually didnt know that some phones had a lower bin. This was my first kernel. You said neo-era. I thought you were talking about neo the developer who is now a mod. He actually tought me about android. Neo has been an amazing friend for almost 4 years. I stand by Yoinx. Great guy and highly intelligent. He was the one who taught me about kernels.
I will be updated the kernel soon. This in no way means I want to do it for the masses. Just stuff I'm doing for myself but you have my source and you can compile it yourself.
