try RUU back to 1.5 not 2.1

thats what I RUU'ed to... 1.56.651.2 CL85027 release-keys

did you have anything other than the stock radio?

Here's my radio:
that should be baseband, right? 1.04.01.09.21

yea thats stock....hmm debuggings on right?

Yep, I've disabled it, then turned it on after I connect USB, I've had it enabled before i connect usb, i've had it disabled before connecting, and nothing at all.

you try fastboot while usb plugged in?...just had to do this to my boys phone then from there went to recovery and wiped everything and reflashed

how exactly do I do that?

Try this:
Type adb kill-server
Then type adb devices
See if your device shows up. If it does, everything should work at that point.

That doesn't worked. Probably did it 35 times while waiting for some help here.

Beginning to hate the Hero.

So, I dont get any help here? Thought this was supposed to be a community where we help each other. I know I've dealt out my fair share.

The wireless carrier creates the RUU for the phone, not Flipzmode, myself, or anyone else.
Also, not sure it is resolved since this issue is posted in four threads with a bunch of people responding.
If it isn't resolved, try running this RUU from Sprint:

worse then soft brick, HELP!

ok so basically i installed a custom rom, great.. not really.
it wouldn't connect to a network, my usb failed and countless other things were missing.
fine and dandy, rom manager asked me to do a backup of my original rom so i'll just load that... file unloadable.
great.
Miraculously i managed to get a new rom on my sd card and installed it.
got stuck at bootscreen then loaded in to a black screen that only showed the notification bar.
by now i've gotten pretty flustered and figure a battery pull should re set everything and let it load up fine (after all i'm a previous bb user lol)
but no
no, now my phone won't even power on.. even when i plug it into the wall to charge the screen stays black.
holding any button combination doesn't work..
its literally a brick.
is there any way to fix this?
so far all i've found are fixes for "soft bricks"
sounds like i'm a little past that stage...
Ok, take out the battery, sim, and sd card from your phone. Now with the battery out, plug the phone into the usb and connect to pc. Now, while holding down the volume up/down at the same time, but NOT the power button, put in the battery. And there you should have download mode, odin away.
Good luck.

well i had just bought it that day so it was covered under warranty.
i took it back and told them the upgrade to 2.2 did it.
they gave me a new one no questions,
it also helps that i work for them and am their tech guy so they would have given me the phone to try to fix had it been a customer lol.

[Q] Whoops Fascinate Blunder

So I'm in some dire need of help. I have a rooted fascinate (with voodoo) for several months now. I was trying to upgrade to the new EB01 and was getting the no memory for storage error due to me not disabling voodoo. (whoops 1) In an attempt to restore my phone back again I found a fix to return back to a stock kernal, etc. I however was jumping around on way too many threads and flashed my phone with a vibrant rom/kernal. I am now running 2.2 Vibrant on a Fascinate. Here's the real problem, now when I hook my phone up to my computer through usb the phone shuts off. I can't get the phone into download mode to flash again wtih odin or recovery mode. It appears that the volume buttons aren't recognized on my fascinate hardware and vibrant rom. If there's ANY help anyone could offer me that would be great.
Not having a download mode or usb storage that I can fix it with adb/odin is really a huge problem obviously. Thanks!
Sounds like that phone is pretty much done, your best bet probably is to take it back to verizon. If you have a warranty it will cover that, just play it off as you didn't do anything to it.
I really don't understand how people can be so careless and inattentive while flashing, especially after already screwing up once.

Gonna have to be more creative then that...they will pop a battery in and check. And they will know if they can get it that far...

Well not removing the voodoo is something that tons of people have done according to all the posts I've seen people writing. Mistakes happen, it's not like I haven't rooted/flashed before I've done it a dozen times this boo boo just happened to be the mother of them all. And yeah I have a feeling that if I walk into a verizon store I'm SoL due to the VIBRANT that plasters across the screen upon booting. Just wondering if there's a work around for the usb portion of it that maybe someone can pull out?
So you have no adb and you are having a hard time getting into download mode.
Do you have:
- Recovery?
- cwr?
- is the phone useable at all? Can you get wifi, write or at least read your sd card, etc.
Your only hope in the end is when you get odin working eventually.
You _might_ be able to clean up with the mbr patch from this thread, provided you can install and run terminal emulator (as a substitute for adb shell) on the phone itself... but that is really iffy.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=804784
Swyped w/ XDA App. When in doubt, mumble.
The phone turns on perfectly fine, goes into normal vibrant 2.2 mode so wi-fi is a go. I downloaded rom manager and can get it to go to a stock recovery however I can't use the up/down volume keys to navigate through the recovery, I can only reboot it again from there.
I agree that installing a voodoo incompatible kernel is a common enough and human mistake. As far as flashing full blown Vibrant, well I wish you didn't do that.
Just to be clear, in your case, you would want to get your phone into download mode ANY way you can. If it crashes when you plug it in, try to get download mode running _before_ you plug it into a computer.
I wouldn't give up just yet, there is still hope that there is something left of download and recovery modes on your phone.
There is a USB rig that you can read about how to build (fairly simple) that will force download noise by plugging it in.
It is remotely possible that you can flash something via kits to get yourself back on track, but that may only make matters worse.
Is there perhaps an app that launches download mode? (never heard of one)

Ditto. Also I can get access to the sd card however the usb situation comes into play again, when I plug it in I hear the connection bing through win7 but then the phone shuts off immediately. Phone is in usb debugging mode and allowing all connections etc.
I looked up a few ways to get into d/l mode through vibrant work arounds but none of them appear to work either, again I fear that it's the volume up/down incompatibility with the fascinate that's holding me back. Looking bleak thanks for the suggestions

That is good news! If you can somehow get CWR to run, you don't need volume buttons to navigate CW Recovery, it'll launch from rom manager. If you can do that, you can get to download mode.
It may still take some tricky fingers too get the volume buttons working again, but at least you can work on getting rid of the other carrier's badging.

Stuck in bootloader --> Volume down is broken/stuck

Edit: Im stuck in bootloader with the only option to press power on is fastboot. and from there i cannot select any options because the navigation is broken. Im looking to restore it to factory so i can take it to the sprint store to have replaced. Please help me! Most likely an autorun from fastboot or a computer pushed through usb command promt that i can take over the phone. PLease HELP!
Have you tried the ruu? Its an executive file that you run from your computer and it restores your phone to stock. I've never had to run it so I cant tell you the exact details of how it works, but that could do the trick. I think there is a way also via using fastboot commands, but someone more intelligent then I will have to provide you with links. Also have you tried putting unrevoked forever s-on on your sd card and naming it PC36100.img then butting into hboot and letting it scan for that? Once it finds it, it should flash it on its own, then once youve done that, you can pull your sdcard again, delete that PC36100.img and put the PC36100.img that returns you to stock on your sdcard then boot into hboot again. It should find that image then flash you back to stock.
Ill try that. My down button is definatly either stuck, disconnected or something. When i press the up button and power it will Vibrate 5 times.
Ok i got the zip to load but my down and up buttons do nothing. is there a way i can have recovery auto run? or edit the hboot so that it automatically runs the recover.img?
Update: It's stuck in bootloader i guess... I restart and the volume down is stuck im pretty sure so it always goes to that. I have it hooked up to my computer, can i push commands through usb to it in bootloader menu...
Fastboot
...
....
Sim-lock
etc.
my only working option is to click power and have the fastboot initiate and then give me an option [1] ........ that i am unable to highlight or get to because of the stuck down button.

Load up nandroid?? im so out of the whole evo scene. can i have a link or procedure.... sorry for being a big noob.
If I can remember, running the stock ruu exe will do everything for you without any need for you to do anything with the phone to help it. Just make sure you have the htc sync program installed. Next make sure the phone is on and running (not in hboot or recovery). Plug the phone into the computer with the data cable. Make sure it's only in charge mode. Run the ruu exe. Be patient because it might take some time to start up. Make sure you have nothing running in the background on the pc. No antivirus or anything and I do mean anything. Don't touch or move the phone or cable while the ruu is running or you might risk bricking the phone if the connection between the phone and pc is interrupted. Don't let the computer go to sleep or standby. Make sure your phone's battery has a full charge. The ruu will make the phone reboot into upload mode. Then it will upload all the stuff the phone needs to be put back to factory. It might reboot the phone a few times. This is normal. You don't have to worry about the broken volume buttons interfering with ruu.
Lastly, make sure you remove your sd card before you get to the store to let the tech check it out. Don't offer any additional information. Just tell them the volume buttons stopped working and you did a full factory reset before you got there.
After running the ruu, don't sign into google account so your personal information won't be on the phone and none of the programs you bought will show up in the market. You should have a backup old phone with you so you or they can activate it for you in case they want to keep or swap it out. If they give you a refurb, power it up and test it at the counter to your satisfaction BEFORE you leave the counter and store. I noticed something wrong with the refurb they gave me and I'm glad I didn't walk away. The tech fixed the problem with the refurb (uneven backlighting on the screen). I was able to use my old screen with the refurb's guts and my screen didn't have any flaws in it.
You do what you want but this is my suggestion based on my experience with exchanging a defective phone. I have full insurance and or tep so it was a hassle free experience.

I already have a pre activated but i cannot get the phone to start without going into the Power+Down Menu... Can i run RUU from that? im not able to get it running on Android
I don't know. Something worse could happen but there's also a chance it might work. I am guessing ruu would tell it to reboot into upload mode. If the phone couldn't get into that mode the ruu might stop. This is just speculation. If you knew that the tech wouldn't bust you for having root, then I'd say to just take it in. It's a big risk in my opinion.
I don't know if there is a img file to fastboot flash a stock recovery. I don't know if that would help. Need to figure out a way to get the s-on and push stock back into it, or at the very least get s-on in hboot.
I'm thinking that because if the button is broke, and you can't get the phone past the hboot screen, then maybe the tech might not want to waste anymore time on it and just order a replacement. The hboot screen would be the only thing he could get into. I don't know but I think it could be helpful, maybe, if adb or something else could push an original rom into it at the screen it's stuck in. I think if you tried, if it wasn't working, the phone and adb wouldn't be communicating like normal and adb would not continue. I am guessing pushing a stock recovery wouldn't turn s-on. It would be great if it did.
I would say that talking with one of the devs that has got their hands dirty in hboot and fastboot, might give better advice. Perhaps they know of a way to force things into the phone that the general public wouldn't normally need to know or do. I am no expert. I suggest talking to people that developed in those areas. Didn't toast work with that?
I don't know what else to suggest. I'm running out of ideas.
I just had another idea. What if you could get a pc36img.zip, or whatever it's called, into root of the card and the phone will want to flash it. Only snag I can think of is I think hboot will ask if you want to flash or update or whatever it's called. That might be the down button. Maybe someone could run with that idea?
I would say read the rooting articles and see if you can adapt what they are saying to push stock everything back in instead of trying to root.
Even if you can't get the updated rom to install, if it can be pushed into the phone and the phone is made to boot like normal, the phone "should" try to apply it if anyone can get it to boot normally. I'm thinking that's another way to cover your ass.
If all else fails, then I would suggest to say a little prayer before going to the store and hope for a tech that isn't going to be a **** about it. Don't get an attitude towards the employees because that could make things much more difficult for you. A seasoned dev or a tech might be the only people that could help. Going into the irc channel for the evo and hanging around in there might get you hooked up with someone that could help more than the people that hang in the forums. I don't see serious devs hanging around the forum and bullshitting with the people there. Go where they might be, in irc. Be cool with them, don't be aggressive or flaky. If you are nice/cool with them, they might take the time away from what they are working on to help you.

thanks! were can i go to find this irc? ive gotten a recovery image on the evo's root micro sd in a pc3600 or w.e zip and gotten it to ask me if id like to run it but it wont go any further than that because i cant chose the option. I have a bit of nail glue and im thinking about trying to glue a hair pin to the down button and giving it a pull while i try and run or maybe i can break the button and say oh well... and then from there do it. I dont have any hex or w.e screw driver that are small enough to open the case and do the option described in page one of this forum. Thank you everyone for the help! and keep the ideas coming. I refuse to let this turn out bad, worst comes to worst ill replicate water damage or something and fry the damn thing. then bring it in as a brick.
Any guru's have a quick idea because i want to do this swap.. im so sick of the palm pre. Its like a baby compared to android.
The irc info should be on one of the stickies at the top of the forum. Shouldn't it say something like join us at #evo or something like that.
This is where you can be opening a can of worms, so you've been warned. You can go to sears I think and the tool section and I think they might sell those wierd screwdrivers. I found one that worked for my macbook's harddrive brackets. It's long, has a black handle and generally different colored caps on top of the handle. I kinda doubt radio shack would have it but you could try. Oh, and get a guitar pick to use a the tool to separate the two halves of the phone. I wouldn't use anything else or it might f up the plastic and be obvious you was inside. Maybe look for an evo teardown video somewhere to show you what to expect. Don't force anything!

Came in. and i opened the phone up jiggled the down button got it unstuck and then I was able to re-flash a custom rom so im just going to use this phone untilll it really ****s the bed again.

Phone bricked?

So while i was at work today, I was just browsing through twitter on my phone and randomly it force closes, so I tried to reopen the app and it forces closes again and im like . So I thinking of just going to the market, uninstall and reinstall, when i opened market it force closed. Basically everything i opened force closed and so i was like ok ill just reboot.
After the phone turned off, it just stayed off, I cant turn it on, it won't charge(well it might but the led is not lighting up), nothing is working. Though when i do plug it into my computer my computer recognizes it but fails to install any drivers.
Any suggestions on what I could do from this point? Thanks in advance.
what rom were you on?
Try taking the battery out for like 10 minutes and put it back in. Never happened to me, but I have read posts where this has worked.

Sounds like a failed emmc, if you can get adb to recognize it check it. But random fcs followed by no boot definitely sounds like a failed emmc.

if you can't go into the OS, then go into recovery,
use adb and type
Code:
adb shell
cat /proc/kmsg | grep mmc0
I wouldn't worry so much about the emmc. I think that's a prob with newer phones(might be wrong on this). None the less this seems to have different symptoms. Your biggest concern is getting into recovery.
Can you boot into the bootloader?
If so do you have the Eng spl?
Use either that or adb to boot in to recovery
Adb reboot recovery
Fastboot reboot recovery
If neither of those work but you can boot into the bootlader try running the PD15IMG.zip
It will reset the phone and you will have to reroot but atleast you have your phone back. Let me know if any of this works please. If not we can go from there
He said his phone won't turn on at all. I don't recall that being a symptom of the failed eMMc chip. Probably a good thing though, will make getting a replacement less of a headache.

I know I'm hoping he just forgot about hboot
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA Premium App
Yeah I can't access recovery at all. I can't get my computer to recognize the phone through adb either. Im just going to call tmobile and see what i can do
So random update, I gave HTC a call and they gave me a RMA # to send to them to check the phone out. So sent it in(bout a week and a half ago) and they told me they would call me after they found out what the problem was and discuss cost of repairs. So today I wake up to find my phone at my door and everything is working again. No idea if they are going to charge me or not but this is how i fixed my problem lol.
I also purchased a SGS4G for the time being and am loving it. Now I don't which phone to keep X.X
If they sent it back without a call then your only out the shipping to them. Done 2 now, both were that way.

306sh bootloader has been found!!!

Let me start this off by stating, I have found bootloader, but am unable to access it. Please keep reading because maybe you can. I'm running windows vista on a rather old laptop with just a gig of ram on a dual core, my computer is not fast enough to install the driver needed for fast boot (bootloader). I'm assuming you have basic knowledge of adb, if not please study up before you proceed
You will need to have
java, se developer toolkit, and SDK tools all installed. Look up tutorials on how to enable adb if your not sure what to do.
Sharps usb drivers
https://sh-dev.sharp.co.jp/android/modules/driver_eng/index.php?/sharp_adb_all/download
Steps
1ut phone into debugging mode and connect to PC
2: open your SDK directory and navigate into platform tools folder, once there hold shift + right click, click on "open command window here"
3.type "adb devices" should display bunch of numbers (your serial number) and say device next to it, this confirms adb is set up correctly
4. Disconnect phone and turn off
5. Open your device manager and make a mental not of where to sharp driver is
Next steps you have to be fast for, may take a few tries but your at no risk of hurting your phone so don't worry if you mess up a few times
6. While the device is powered off hold volume up + power, this will make the led at the bottom turn white for a brief period of time, there is sum confusion on if it turns blue or white due to me saying it was blue when I initially found this button sequence, it is white OK guys not blue, might have a blueish tint but the led is white in this mode mmkk.
7.plug in USB
8. The computer will prompt you to install a driver in a pop up window, it may work for you to just use this prompt but I had faster response just exiting out of this and double clicking the "unknown device" in device manager.
9. Click install driver
10. It will promt to identify what kind of device it is, click andriod.
11. It'll prompt to search for you or browse and find it yourself, click browse.
12. In the next window click "let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"
13. Click "have disk"
14.click browse and locate the folder with your sharp drivers, click "andriod_winusb" then OK, it should show 3 different drivers its going to install, one of which labeled bootloader, click ok it'll have a big pop up window just click yes on it.
The driver begins to install but the led turns off before it can and then disconnects. But now we know for sure where its at and a vaigue idea of how to get it, I know this isn't going along very fast guys and sorry I can't spend more time looking into it than I am right now. I believe Sharp didn't make the bootloader accesable through button sequences, we have to access it through the adb command "adb reboot bootloader" command after the drivers installed.
a big step
Amazing!!! Thank you for say about it!
Great
Seems like we are getting somewhere
keep this thread clutter free
We need a designated 306sh thread, all the 305 users flooded our original thread with unlocking and using in different regions, even though it clearly stated just 306sh users. So if you have a 305sh get off my thread, don't post here, Im serious I'll get mean, a lot of issues I had with adb were already being tested and the knowledge was posted. Just hard to obtain with all the 305 clutter. If your not testing and all your posting is a thank you, please just click like, though it is nice to read those lovely comments and thank yous but we need the thread clear for those willing to test their phones and post results. Don't post you agree, like the comment as I said if it doesn't directly pertain to testing there's no reason to post.
Canada Unlock
Hey guys, I just bought this phone (306SH) and I am from Canada.
I really fkn love this phone, it appears to be better then my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 with it's style, speakers and even the screen is solid. Do you guys think there is any hope for a unlock in the near future? I bought the phone because it was dirt cheap and I was hoping in the near future I could switch when the time was right. Let me know your thoughts and where we're at right now with unlocking it.
Thanks
No. Clicking "Let me pick from a list..." then "Have disk" and selecting a driver location just shows all the available drivers in that location. It doesn't verify against the hardware ID (USB\VID_XXXX&PID_XXXX&REV_XXXX).
If you click "Have disk" and open iPod drivers, it'll show iPod drivers. Did your phone magically turn into an iPod? Probably not.
i use adb for 306sh for a long time -_-, and how to unlock boot, i tried adb reboot bootloader and reboot recovery, it just turn on again -_-
GUYS!!!!!!
Guys i contacted kingoroot and they said they are working on supporting the 306sh, cant wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
