Stuck in bootloader --> Volume down is broken/stuck - EVO 4G General

Edit: Im stuck in bootloader with the only option to press power on is fastboot. and from there i cannot select any options because the navigation is broken. Im looking to restore it to factory so i can take it to the sprint store to have replaced. Please help me! Most likely an autorun from fastboot or a computer pushed through usb command promt that i can take over the phone. PLease HELP!

Have you tried the ruu? Its an executive file that you run from your computer and it restores your phone to stock. I've never had to run it so I cant tell you the exact details of how it works, but that could do the trick. I think there is a way also via using fastboot commands, but someone more intelligent then I will have to provide you with links. Also have you tried putting unrevoked forever s-on on your sd card and naming it PC36100.img then butting into hboot and letting it scan for that? Once it finds it, it should flash it on its own, then once youve done that, you can pull your sdcard again, delete that PC36100.img and put the PC36100.img that returns you to stock on your sdcard then boot into hboot again. It should find that image then flash you back to stock.

Ill try that. My down button is definatly either stuck, disconnected or something. When i press the up button and power it will Vibrate 5 times.
Ok i got the zip to load but my down and up buttons do nothing. is there a way i can have recovery auto run? or edit the hboot so that it automatically runs the recover.img?
Update: It's stuck in bootloader i guess... I restart and the volume down is stuck im pretty sure so it always goes to that. I have it hooked up to my computer, can i push commands through usb to it in bootloader menu...
Fastboot
...
....
Sim-lock
etc.
my only working option is to click power and have the fastboot initiate and then give me an option [1] ........ that i am unable to highlight or get to because of the stuck down button.

Both my volume keys are broken so I took my evo apart and used a thin metal to push the spring that controls the keys and load up a nandroid. Hope this helps.

Load up nandroid?? im so out of the whole evo scene. can i have a link or procedure.... sorry for being a big noob.

If I can remember, running the stock ruu exe will do everything for you without any need for you to do anything with the phone to help it. Just make sure you have the htc sync program installed. Next make sure the phone is on and running (not in hboot or recovery). Plug the phone into the computer with the data cable. Make sure it's only in charge mode. Run the ruu exe. Be patient because it might take some time to start up. Make sure you have nothing running in the background on the pc. No antivirus or anything and I do mean anything. Don't touch or move the phone or cable while the ruu is running or you might risk bricking the phone if the connection between the phone and pc is interrupted. Don't let the computer go to sleep or standby. Make sure your phone's battery has a full charge. The ruu will make the phone reboot into upload mode. Then it will upload all the stuff the phone needs to be put back to factory. It might reboot the phone a few times. This is normal. You don't have to worry about the broken volume buttons interfering with ruu.
Lastly, make sure you remove your sd card before you get to the store to let the tech check it out. Don't offer any additional information. Just tell them the volume buttons stopped working and you did a full factory reset before you got there.
After running the ruu, don't sign into google account so your personal information won't be on the phone and none of the programs you bought will show up in the market. You should have a backup old phone with you so you or they can activate it for you in case they want to keep or swap it out. If they give you a refurb, power it up and test it at the counter to your satisfaction BEFORE you leave the counter and store. I noticed something wrong with the refurb they gave me and I'm glad I didn't walk away. The tech fixed the problem with the refurb (uneven backlighting on the screen). I was able to use my old screen with the refurb's guts and my screen didn't have any flaws in it.
You do what you want but this is my suggestion based on my experience with exchanging a defective phone. I have full insurance and or tep so it was a hassle free experience.

I already have a pre activated but i cannot get the phone to start without going into the Power+Down Menu... Can i run RUU from that? im not able to get it running on Android

I don't know. Something worse could happen but there's also a chance it might work. I am guessing ruu would tell it to reboot into upload mode. If the phone couldn't get into that mode the ruu might stop. This is just speculation. If you knew that the tech wouldn't bust you for having root, then I'd say to just take it in. It's a big risk in my opinion.
I don't know if there is a img file to fastboot flash a stock recovery. I don't know if that would help. Need to figure out a way to get the s-on and push stock back into it, or at the very least get s-on in hboot.
I'm thinking that because if the button is broke, and you can't get the phone past the hboot screen, then maybe the tech might not want to waste anymore time on it and just order a replacement. The hboot screen would be the only thing he could get into. I don't know but I think it could be helpful, maybe, if adb or something else could push an original rom into it at the screen it's stuck in. I think if you tried, if it wasn't working, the phone and adb wouldn't be communicating like normal and adb would not continue. I am guessing pushing a stock recovery wouldn't turn s-on. It would be great if it did.
I would say that talking with one of the devs that has got their hands dirty in hboot and fastboot, might give better advice. Perhaps they know of a way to force things into the phone that the general public wouldn't normally need to know or do. I am no expert. I suggest talking to people that developed in those areas. Didn't toast work with that?
I don't know what else to suggest. I'm running out of ideas.

I just had another idea. What if you could get a pc36img.zip, or whatever it's called, into root of the card and the phone will want to flash it. Only snag I can think of is I think hboot will ask if you want to flash or update or whatever it's called. That might be the down button. Maybe someone could run with that idea?
I would say read the rooting articles and see if you can adapt what they are saying to push stock everything back in instead of trying to root.
Even if you can't get the updated rom to install, if it can be pushed into the phone and the phone is made to boot like normal, the phone "should" try to apply it if anyone can get it to boot normally. I'm thinking that's another way to cover your ass.
If all else fails, then I would suggest to say a little prayer before going to the store and hope for a tech that isn't going to be a **** about it. Don't get an attitude towards the employees because that could make things much more difficult for you. A seasoned dev or a tech might be the only people that could help. Going into the irc channel for the evo and hanging around in there might get you hooked up with someone that could help more than the people that hang in the forums. I don't see serious devs hanging around the forum and bullshitting with the people there. Go where they might be, in irc. Be cool with them, don't be aggressive or flaky. If you are nice/cool with them, they might take the time away from what they are working on to help you.

thanks! were can i go to find this irc? ive gotten a recovery image on the evo's root micro sd in a pc3600 or w.e zip and gotten it to ask me if id like to run it but it wont go any further than that because i cant chose the option. I have a bit of nail glue and im thinking about trying to glue a hair pin to the down button and giving it a pull while i try and run or maybe i can break the button and say oh well... and then from there do it. I dont have any hex or w.e screw driver that are small enough to open the case and do the option described in page one of this forum. Thank you everyone for the help! and keep the ideas coming. I refuse to let this turn out bad, worst comes to worst ill replicate water damage or something and fry the damn thing. then bring it in as a brick.

Any guru's have a quick idea because i want to do this swap.. im so sick of the palm pre. Its like a baby compared to android.

The irc info should be on one of the stickies at the top of the forum. Shouldn't it say something like join us at #evo or something like that.
This is where you can be opening a can of worms, so you've been warned. You can go to sears I think and the tool section and I think they might sell those wierd screwdrivers. I found one that worked for my macbook's harddrive brackets. It's long, has a black handle and generally different colored caps on top of the handle. I kinda doubt radio shack would have it but you could try. Oh, and get a guitar pick to use a the tool to separate the two halves of the phone. I wouldn't use anything else or it might f up the plastic and be obvious you was inside. Maybe look for an evo teardown video somewhere to show you what to expect. Don't force anything!

(hurry help) flash wrong rom

Dear all
i did flash my us version hd2rom but i didn;t notice that the rom igot is for taiwan. Now my phone can;t turn on can't see anything on the phone can't reset. It's totally die now.
Is any one know how to fix it? I just got the phone xd
oh i shouldn;t do this. Really need help now
Not to be rude but you really should have used the search function. Sorry but if you flashed the wrong ROM your bricked. It's just a $550 paper-weight. Send it back to T-mobile and play innocent. Again, really sorry because at this point in time there is nothing at all you can do.
~Jasecloud4
We would need more details as to the steps you've taken to get to the point where you are.
Did you flash the appropriate TMOU HSPL prior to installing the ROM - and where did you get the ROM from? What happens when you try to charge it via USB?
As the other poster said, you shouldve done some homework before potentially effing up your device.
hi guys, I just got a same problem. After I flash a rom from HK my phone just totally die. Can't turn on, can't reset, can't charge. And my pc can't recognized my phone... (I did flash the appropriate TMOU HSPL )
your phone is Dead Learn to read on how to flash before you go blindely into doing it
New users really should wait a week or two before flashing their new phones so as to get familiar with the process.
Thank said, I hope you are able to get it fixed. Stay calm, read posts where others did the same thing and see if you are able to repair it. Do Not rush things.
return the phones and play innocent indeed. next time take time to read stickies and warnings from rom cooks :/
ha i dont own an hd2 im just reading up on them (in case i own one...android ftw though) but this guy sure sounds like a BRICK.
I have unlocked bricked phone with wrong rom.
There is one thing you can try.
Take the sim card out.
take the mem stick out.
Remove the battery for at least 30 minutes.
start phone with volume down pushed in.
if it doesn't power on try waiting an hour or two.
conect to pc and run task 29.
Then flash with corect rom and radio
Damn really sucks bro.. But this is why we must always double check that the Rom is mad for 1024 Hd2(U.S) and not 512... Best bet just tell t-mobile that phone stop working out of nowhere

Exact same thing happened to me and I couldn't do ANYTHING with it wouldn't turn on couldn't get it in boot mode and essentially what your going to have to do is.........send it back and play dumb and get another sent out to you!! Other than that you are truly sitting on a good looking paper weight!!
I'm glad someone pointed out that at least it's a nice looking paperweight...lol
I did the same thing on my 1-day old HD2 with the HK Rom.
Went to the local mobile phone repair centre and had a techie guy work on it over 2 hours and still couldn't get anywhere. He was suggesting me replace the Flash Memory however I insisted there must be a way without messing around the hardware.
In the end the techie called his bro (supposedly the original factory) and was advised that there is no bootloader just as yet....I was asked to wait a few weeks and see...
I am in the view that this brick can be unbricked but it just will take some time for people to develop the techniques and have the appropriate hardware/software in stock...
PLEASE DO READ CAREFULLY BE JUMPING INTO THE WATER. Everyone is busy but this is the price - a $580 paper weight!
might have a second luck
why dont u hold the volume up and volume down buttons at the same time. then power on the device and do a hard reset. or just run task29 try to get the phone to get picked up by task29. and re-rom it. just a thought. dont know if it will work.
or third luck
how about you turn off the phone. push the volume down button power it on. and run one of the CleanEx roms while in the boot menu. give it a try it might work. its not like something worse can happen.
(make sure sim and sdcard are out)
1. make sure ur phones off
2. hold the volume button
3. while holding the volume button power on the device
4. just check if u even have ur spl on hspl (optional)
5. download a CleanEX ROM
6. run CustomRUU.exe
and see if that fixes it. and if that doesn't work just try the same steps but before you get to step 6 run task29 first.

Tried all means already except for Task 29. Will do some research then give it a try.
I'd recommend you to follow advices from senior members. In my case I bricked my 2 day HD2 TMOUS because I follow a sugestion about a ROM from another member of this forum. I asked twice if that ROM was compatible with the TMOUS HD2!!! I installed the correct HSPL version then installed the ROM and bricked my phone. There's no way to fix, take it to a T-MOBILE store and play dumb, make them call customer service and you'll get a new phone in 2-3 days, it worked for me.

Vibrant USB Connection Issue

Hello XDA Community!
I made a post about this issue before, but have more details so hopefully someone can help me figure out this issue.
My phone even when unplugged from my PC continuously says USB Connected/ USB Debugging in the notification menu.
Also, when I try and reboot the phone, instead of booting even to the Vibrant logo screen, the loading circle continuously blinks on and off, without actually booting.
As I type this, I am not holding down the power button, and the loading circle is blinking on and off by itself....
I used to be able to turn the phone on into recovery mode in the past, but now when I try to reboot into recovery I get a big yellow picture that says "Downloading"
The only way the phone will turn on is if it is plugged in.
I am fairly certain that this reboot issue and the USB issue are correlated in some way.
Did anyone else have this issue with their phones? And if so, how did you solve it?
Another thing I have just discovered...
When the phone is on and idle, the USB Connection notification will constantly blink on and off, which is why I think the phone would do the same when trying to power on!
Is this a hardware issue or a software issue?
I have not flashed anything in a very long time before this issue started happening so I believe a restore is unnecessary .
Someone please help me! This is very annoying, not only do I have NO notification bar because of the constant USB Connection notification turning on and off, I cannot turn on my phone at all unless it is plugged in!
ACK!
Take it back
I carry the insurance, so personally if this was happening to me I would not even mess with it. It sounds like you have a genuine problem with the phone and it needs to be replaced.
If it is possible to do try a nandroid backup of your phone to make getting back to where you are on your new device easier. Then take your phone back to stock with the recovery image here -->
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=734475 (Thank you justanothercrowd)
One you have a stock device see if you are still having the issue. If you are take it back as defective. Even if you don't have the insurance, that sounds like a factory defect and should be covered by the factory warranty. The insurance just makes the process easier and makes sure they just give you a swap out at the store rather than having to wait for repairs. It also covers things the warranty does not, such as screen breakage - which is the specific reason I carry the insurance.
Ah crap wish I had insurance.... Do I have to do that whole odin procedure or is there a one click un root procedure as well?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Nevermind i just read through that link you posted. So when i go to a t mobile store do i have to unroot or can i just hide my root applications until i get a new phone?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I actually have not had reason to go back to stock, or even use odin yet at this point. My only roms were .zip files that I flashed via clockwork recovery.
I would say that your best best it to just follow the instructions on justanothercrowd's thread very carefully and deliberately. You are already having issues with reboots and your USB port, so this is not the time to deviate into experiments.
So to cut you off and just answer you next three questions:
Q) Can I just . . .
A) No! Just follow the directions exactly.
Q) But can I . . .
A) No! Just follow the directions exactly.
Q) Do I have to . . .
A) Hey look, Just follow the damn directions exactly!
Sorry, I can't help much beyond that. You chose to modify your phone and risk that you would not have issues, just like the rest of us here. In your case you did have issues. Now you have to get it back to stock so they don't have any reason to claim you caused this or that your warranty is void. I hope all goes well and it works out for you. Let as know and keep us posted. Good luck.

We must have been typing at the same time LOL.
There is a thread on unrooting, and basically it is just deleting a few things. After doing this you should not have any non-stock applications on the phone and there would be no reason to think it was rooted unless they went digging on the file system. Personally, I would delete those telltale files just in case, it looks a little suspicious to bring in a phone that looks like it has not been used since you bought it, but they have no proof you did anything and you can claim that you first did a factory reset to see if it would fix the problem.
Just want to keep this thread going, as I am having the exact same issue as the OP as of today. It happened out of the blue, and I haven't flashed anything new to my phone since JI6 was released, other than that, it's just a stock, rooted phone.
Hoping someone has an idea, but I will likely get it replaced under warranty, since the GPS has never worked either.
damnit damnit damnit I really wish I had warranty.
Random question about clockword mod recoveries.
If I were to do a backup right now, and save that file to my computer, could I restore that file later on a different phone after I root my replacement?
I don't have that many mods flashed, and I know all of the apps can be synced, but still it would be sooo convenient .
I believe that is how it works, so yes. It should be no different then when you clone a hard drive to put the image on multiple computers for easy distribution.
It is (just like the cloning metaphor) hardware specific. Just like I could not purchase a upgrade computer and expect a cloned image to work, don't expect to create a Vibrant backup and restore it on a Captivate.
That said, you should be able to restore your backup to new (identical) hardware.
By the way, what is the warranty on these? I thought it was a year for defects. I didn't think the Vibrant had been around long enough yet for anyone to be off warranty.
it should be a year, but there was also the option for a purchased warranty. I did not purchase a warranty, so I should be good on just my manufacturer's defect warranty

so i was in the process of doing a custom splash screen last night. i went through all the instructions on how to push the custom splash through terminal. everything went how the instructions said, but once i reboot it my phone turned off and never came back on. it doesnt power on, boot into recovery, nothing! i put the phone to charge and the red light comes on on the top left but when i take it off the charger it stays on.
i been rooted for about a month now and i was running cm7 build 8 when this happened. i just want to see if anybody has any idea on what going on. i tired everything i can think of. taking out the battery and normally powering on and nothing. taking off the battery and volume down and power to boot into recovery and nothing. taking off the battery, sd card, sim, putting back the battery and doing both normal power on and to boot into recovery and nothing.
First of all you just hijacked the guys old dead thread and second it sound like you just bricked your phone. As there is boot animation and there is slash screen. Seems like you flashed wrong thing. If the screen don't even turn on its dead then.
Sent from my HTC Glacier
Don't flame the poor guy! He's got it bad enough as is! And he didn't flash the "wrong thing" there are several threads on flashing splash screens in this phone's forum. Cut the guy some slack. He knows it may be bricked, he's just hoping it's not. And he was hoping for someone to provide some possible help. Not be be given **** for not opening a new thread.
i thread jacked because the thread was old and didnt want to clutter by starting a new one when im having some what the same problem. but no i pushed the splash image. i had already flashed a boot animation a few day back. i had call of android running on my phone as a boot animation. i just want to know is theres other methods of reaching hboot or recovery.
First of all don't put words in my mouth as my post does not contain any flame, second when I said wrong thing I meant he may not have meet the requirement for the splash image if he did correctly then obviously he would have had it up and running. Best thing for him would be going back to the original thread where he downloaded the image and asking the OP and troubleshoot it but at this point its to late all he can do now is warn others.
But if his phone is not old lol he can social engineer and play the victim card and send it back to HTC but first would be trying TMo saying he didn't get the POST OTA as he had PRE OTA and when he try to install the OTA it went blank and act like he has no idea what is going on, as he simply just want the phone to work or he will cancel service and do acting best of his life.
i already know i probably super bricked it. becuase ive bricked it before but not like this. i was able to fix it very quickly before. its like if the phone just doesnt have a battery. im just going to wait to see if anybody else has any more input. if not ill head to the tmo store see what they can do.

I do apologize for using the word flame. It was too strong. But I get fired up when people criticize instead of offering insight. If you had posted the above paragraph first, I wouldn't have had any issues. This is good and viable option. Albeit a last resort, but much better than criticizing for thread jacking. And I am the OP of the thread that he's using and am doing EVERYTHING I can to help him figure out a way to get this resolved.

ok, I just got caught up on your issue. I am going to do a little research and see if I can come up with anything to maybe help. Do you have adb set up? What recovery are you running?
Same thing happened to me, flashed a rom rebooted and the phone never turned on again.
thanx every one for trying to help. i tried everything i can think of and i could not get that phone to power on at all. it was completely dead. so i went to the tmo store by my pad and they gave me a brand new one. now i just need to gain s=off on this one which i cant do for some reason. i dont know why since it was fairly easy to gain s=off on my other mt4g. ill figure out though.

Sent from my CM7 Glacier using XDA App
Hi.
I had the same problem on my htc glacier (mytouch 4g) which was turn it on, stuck on the htcwelcome screen, keep loading and then turn off automatically. My phone is rooted and cusome flashed to the new htc 3.0 sense when this happened, i did a back up and restore to the oem mytouch sense and now it is working just perfectly. So if your phone is rooted you might give it a shot and hope it will work again
i had same prob kinda

anyways what i was geting to is that i called tmoble and they said it sounded like a hardware problem if you can plug it in to wall or car charger and nothing.. when i plug it into a usb on pc i get
hsusbs or something so u all might want to look into that.
i have s mytouch 4g it wont boot
i rooted my mytouch 4g ussing gfree and then i installed sense 3.0 rom and it worked then force closed left me in bootloader then from there flasheed cm7 worked good for 15 days then said force closed again then never turned back on aghain now when i plug it back in it tells me cannot install drivver software and it recognizes it as qhsusb_dload any solutions or its a gonner contact me at [email protected]

[Q] Whoops Fascinate Blunder

So I'm in some dire need of help. I have a rooted fascinate (with voodoo) for several months now. I was trying to upgrade to the new EB01 and was getting the no memory for storage error due to me not disabling voodoo. (whoops 1) In an attempt to restore my phone back again I found a fix to return back to a stock kernal, etc. I however was jumping around on way too many threads and flashed my phone with a vibrant rom/kernal. I am now running 2.2 Vibrant on a Fascinate. Here's the real problem, now when I hook my phone up to my computer through usb the phone shuts off. I can't get the phone into download mode to flash again wtih odin or recovery mode. It appears that the volume buttons aren't recognized on my fascinate hardware and vibrant rom. If there's ANY help anyone could offer me that would be great.
Not having a download mode or usb storage that I can fix it with adb/odin is really a huge problem obviously. Thanks!
Sounds like that phone is pretty much done, your best bet probably is to take it back to verizon. If you have a warranty it will cover that, just play it off as you didn't do anything to it.
I really don't understand how people can be so careless and inattentive while flashing, especially after already screwing up once.

Gonna have to be more creative then that...they will pop a battery in and check. And they will know if they can get it that far...

Well not removing the voodoo is something that tons of people have done according to all the posts I've seen people writing. Mistakes happen, it's not like I haven't rooted/flashed before I've done it a dozen times this boo boo just happened to be the mother of them all. And yeah I have a feeling that if I walk into a verizon store I'm SoL due to the VIBRANT that plasters across the screen upon booting. Just wondering if there's a work around for the usb portion of it that maybe someone can pull out?
So you have no adb and you are having a hard time getting into download mode.
Do you have:
- Recovery?
- cwr?
- is the phone useable at all? Can you get wifi, write or at least read your sd card, etc.
Your only hope in the end is when you get odin working eventually.
You _might_ be able to clean up with the mbr patch from this thread, provided you can install and run terminal emulator (as a substitute for adb shell) on the phone itself... but that is really iffy.

Swyped w/ XDA App. When in doubt, mumble.
The phone turns on perfectly fine, goes into normal vibrant 2.2 mode so wi-fi is a go. I downloaded rom manager and can get it to go to a stock recovery however I can't use the up/down volume keys to navigate through the recovery, I can only reboot it again from there.
I agree that installing a voodoo incompatible kernel is a common enough and human mistake. As far as flashing full blown Vibrant, well I wish you didn't do that.
Just to be clear, in your case, you would want to get your phone into download mode ANY way you can. If it crashes when you plug it in, try to get download mode running _before_ you plug it into a computer.
I wouldn't give up just yet, there is still hope that there is something left of download and recovery modes on your phone.
There is a USB rig that you can read about how to build (fairly simple) that will force download noise by plugging it in.
It is remotely possible that you can flash something via kits to get yourself back on track, but that may only make matters worse.
Is there perhaps an app that launches download mode? (never heard of one)

Ditto. Also I can get access to the sd card however the usb situation comes into play again, when I plug it in I hear the connection bing through win7 but then the phone shuts off immediately. Phone is in usb debugging mode and allowing all connections etc.
I looked up a few ways to get into d/l mode through vibrant work arounds but none of them appear to work either, again I fear that it's the volume up/down incompatibility with the fascinate that's holding me back. Looking bleak thanks for the suggestions

That is good news! If you can somehow get CWR to run, you don't need volume buttons to navigate CW Recovery, it'll launch from rom manager. If you can do that, you can get to download mode.
It may still take some tricky fingers too get the volume buttons working again, but at least you can work on getting rid of the other carrier's badging.

IF there IS any hope for you (which i doubt), i advise you get on the fascinate irc and seek help there.
apparently I meant JIG, not rig:

This is still your best avenue.
===========
(irregardless of whether usb is plugged in)
From regular recovery (blue) to download:
Press home button (to reboot) while hitting volume down
-- I don't think this will work for you since your volume buttons don't seem to work regardless of mode --
So, battery pull/hold vol down while plugging into usb won't get to dl mode for odin?
good day.

Pretty much, I'm boned. Thanks for the suggestions though. My own darn fault

So....totally bricked my tab.....

So, as I cant leave things alone.....come on, who can right?.
Verizon Tab....
Im a Droid X kinda guy, we dont have Kernals (thanks Motorola ) so sometimes this stuff gets confusing, so many options right....
Flashed the VZW Kernal after a few attempts, worked, started messing with Roms, ok cool. Started backing up using CWM, ok cool.
Here is where **** goes wrong....
Started tweaking rom, went to reboot, typical boot loop, no biggie, Odin and Heimdall are my best friends, infact at this point I think my 4 year old has seen me use them enough that she can do it, lol.
decided to nuke and repave, but the usual factory files failed halfway through, wtf?, so I got the Phone---!---PC icon, whoops.....
Did some heavy ready/searching, seems there is not to much out there for detailed info on this.
Found a few posts scattered, one was a system dump, and the person said he flashed everything to repair, so I decided to follow instructions, big giant huge EFF-UP !!
What I know now, after all is said and done......
I flashed the bootloader.
Well, now I know.
So, it happens that VZ tech was nice enough to still send me a replacement, I tell them the truth, they know my DX has the GB leak, wifes Dpro is rooted/rom, etc.
Lesson....
um, dont flash boot loader? ha ha ha.
Oh, I did crack the Tab open, took battery out, looked inside, real ***** getting back cover off, looked real good at cover, possible to airbrush/change colors though...
The tab is not really bricked if you can power it on. There is still a way to "unbrick" it.

Phone-!-pc icon is download mode, so you were not bricked. Usually, just reconnect to the pc and flash again.
Where did you get the three blade screw driver to open your tab?

Tab doesn't turn on anymore after accidentally flashing bootloader, no response. not even if I plug it into wall. button commands dont work either.
I have a wood shop, and alot of tools.

You're not the first to do that. Use three wall charger for at least four hours, and try again.
In the stickie section (you can see that part of the forum if you view with a pc) there are some instructions involving some button sequences and the usb cord. But you may have to send tab away to samsung for a clean flash with a JTAG Box.
What is the name of the 3-blade screw driver, and where can I get one? It seems gorilla glass is a farce.

New one arrives tomorrow, Im not going to worry about the bricked one, Ill send it back.
Dont remember the name of the screwdriver, I have alot of strange small tools, large collection of bits, you can get away with a regular small bit.
Taking the back off was a huge *****, you wont break anything, just a pain. Battery is huge, and a good majority of the weight.
