Hello.
Now I got a serious problem with my Hero.
I made a factory reset, reinstalled my apps from the Market, changed my APN settings and turned the phone off.
I try to turn it on again - But now it stuck at the HTC logo and keep flashing over the letters like normally.
I get past the HERO and the little android dude just fine, but can't go on from the HTC icon.
Ive tried back + on/off to make a reset, but the same thing repeats. Stuck at HTC icon :/
For sure Im going to take contact to both HTC and my operator (Telmore - Denmark) tomorrow :O
Any one got an idea what this can be? I havent rooted or flashed nor touched my phone in any unoffical way.
Thanks
Best Regards,
Philip

Remove the battery for a while and then place it back and start youre phone again. That might solve the problem.
Ive tried to remove the battery lots of times. "for a while" how long do you mean? Ive had it out like 2 mins or. But ill try thx

Maybe half an houre or so. Its just a tip I read about of some that had a bad factory-restore. Some even left the battery out overnight.
Oh that looks like a bit of hope
Thank you. Ill let rest for an hour or so and see if it works then.
Anyone be welcome if you got other ideas - and thank you Heppieboeddah

Really dont know if this will work for you. I do hope so. You also might leave youre sim-card out while starting the first time. You wrote you changed something in the APN settings...
you can also try removing the SD-card. a broken / incorrectly formatted card can also trigger this behaviour.
Ive tried both with and without simcard and sdcard.
I just putted my battery in again.. still no luck :/
Damn its hard to live without the Hero :O
I had the same problem and had to return it to the supplier. Has been away for over 1 week now. I would be very interested to know what the cause/solution is.
I reflashed it with the 2.7.3 update.
Now it works again!
Hey everyone, my hd2 died (original 1.48 rom), I already tried soft reset, hard reset, put out my battery, charge it and everyhting that came to my mind but when i turn it on it wont go further than the first htc image.
Is there anything i cant do or should i just take it back to the shop?
Thanks
I would take it back, even if you do fix it. You don't want a phone that may still have a underlying problem.
Htc HD2 BRICK Need HELP!!!!!!!
I flashed Duttys_Leo_Sense_2.5_5.2.23554.5.5.0_1.72_Multi-Lang_6.5.5_Radio_2.07.51.22.2_V1.2_WWE into tmobile htc hd2 cause i was [email protected]$kin goin Rom happy and didnt double check its compatibility and my screen went blank black, cant power on, cant go into bootloader, and cant hard reset but when i plug it in to my computer it recognizes it as a device without a driver i saw it in the device manager on windows 7 ulitmate. CAN I SAVE MY HTC HD2??
I KILL my htc hd2 (BRICKED)
I used HSPL2_1024_RUN.exe i flashed like 5 roms within 24hrs i was trying them out and this one made killed my hd2.
for those stuck on the htc boot image
take off the back cover of the phone and press the little red button, this will restart the phone
AS SOON AS you press it, press and hold the volume down button this will bring you to the bootloader
connect the phone via usb to your computer and flash a different radio rom (look first which are compatible with your rom)
if this doesnt work, using the same method flash back to your original rom.

for tmous with 1gb rom NEVER flash a radio with .51. in the code.
still haven't seen anyone recover from this. if anyone has please let me know.
Damn it captain!!!!!!
I just got it on the 24th shhhhhhhh....... ummm i just will take it to TMOBILE i hope i can get an other one, they may not have one in stock or they WONT give me another. i will see as soon as the store opens.
Sorry to hear about people's problems. Just remember if you have TMobile
USA there is NOT a way to flash another rom onto the phone..Just give it time the wonderful folks here are working on it. If your still in your 14 day grace period just return the phone to the store and play dumb. You might
have to wait for another phone since apparently they did not anticipate
how many people wanted this phone and sold out quickly. I know I was there
at 6:30 and the second in line and they only had 5!
Anyway, the most important thing you can do here is DO a search!
I KILL my htc hd2 (BRICKED)
BUT I have flashed roms into Tmobiles htc hd2 like TOUCH_X_TREME_23549_TMOUS_2_30_5_49 among others and they worked! i was just try different ones and i PICKED and I BRICKED!!!!!!!!!!!

sorry? sure about that? seems to me lots of people have successfully flashed their tmous hd2.
It only goes wrong if you
1 - flash a rom based on anything less than 2.10 rom
or
2 - flash a radio with ..51.. in the version number.

possibly, however its worth a try, there are other people that have reported they got it exchanged. the worst theu can do is send you it back un fixed. They can't keep it and make you pay for the fix.

I do not see a little red button under the back cover. I am in the US, just bought phone, slightly used of course, no warranty. It suddenly went dead this afternoon while charging, will sometimes try to power up but will just keep flashing that one screen "stick together" over and over.....
Tried another battery, same thing.

Mine is doing the same thing . . . in the US, the reset button is right next to the SD card slot, and it's yellow. Mine wouldn't come on Friday, and I started a web chat with Tmobile to see if they would exchange it, and then it just came back on. They said as long as the white sticker at the top of the battery compartment is still white (proving you didn't get it wet), then they will exchange it. It worked fine for me the rest of the weekend (AFTER I did a hard reset, and got it running great!!). This morning, I locked it while running MobiTV, then I couldn't unlock it, so I pulled the battery. That was 2 hours ago, and it still won't come on . . .
If it doesn't come on before I leave work, I'm taking it to Tmobile tonight!!
UPDATED 20 minutes later: Just came on . . . no rhyme or reason why?? Just started after MULTIPLE times of taking out and putting back battery, SIM, and SD card. Got the same error that I've been getting the last couple months on reboots (services.exe)?? When I did a CleanRAM, it free'd up 3.36MB . . . so SOMETHING was hung up, but nothing was running in the task manager??
Generally, few task managers show what's really going on with the phone's memory. Use an advanced task manager which will allow you to control the actual processes running on your device, Google for the names of those which seem to cause mischief and terminate them (if possible) or try to find a solution.

Hey I am also Tmobile User and I have flashed a few ROMS luckily I have not Bricked my phone (knock on wood.) I was just wondering how your return went? I have insurance on mine and figured I would just take it back if that happened. I just didn't know if that would work? Did you ever get a new one
Another update . . . used my phone all afternoon, and tried to charge it, and it wouldn't charge??? Luckily, my husband has the same phone, so I checked his with the same charger. Compared the two phones, and the prongs that hit the battery were bent back. I folded them back down, and now it can charge again. Makes me wonder if that is the problem with the phone not coming back on? Maybe putting the battery back in so that it wasn't hitting the prongs has been keeping it from turning back on . . .
i was updating my vibrant phone in kies and i thought the file was still being downloaded when i received a call.
i took the call and got off as soon as possible.
when the installation finished it started to reboot but never made it and i have not been able to get any kind of start-up screen at all.
i am totally bricked.
before the update i was able to get into download mode but no more.
no two button or three button combos work.
i am leaving the battery out all night and will try again tomorrow but i am not hopeful.
moral of the story is take out the damn sim card when updating so as not to screw up the download.
sigh.
anyone have any ideas what to do with the boat anchor besides trying to talk t-mobile into taking it back.
Same thing happened to me a while back.
the only way of resurrecting your phone if its COMPLETELY bricked is to use a JIG box... Google it... Otherwise its basically paperweight and if you have insurance call it in lost or stolen.
You corrupted the bootloader.
all the jig boxes say they get the phone into download mode.
however one of the ebay vendors says:
If your phone screen is always black, turn it on and if it stays completely black, then sorry, but NO USB jig will help you.
so i don't understand how the jig will help me since i cannot get any response from the phone at all.
how is the jig wired.
do you know.
thanks.

You can try the jig it may work for you connextion2005 sells for 8 bucks. You can try to push the bootloader through adb, don;t know you exact situation. If those don't work then you could return it and clam under warranty that the it got jacked up when updating on Kies, and get a new phone. (refurbished one probably)
Good luck
This happened to me a while ago and i could not get into recovery or download mode at all. I did the search on the forums, and there was a way to get it back into download mode. Just search it and it might work for you. i'm sorry i don't remember the method itself but good luck.
EDIT: this is not it, but try the "no-boot method"

I've never used kies just like I never used activesync .
the no boot method didn't work for me.
i will probably try the jig method one of these days but i don't have much hope for that either.
airplane mode is a good idea when updating..
should be mentioned more often.
what do people use instead of kies for updating and backups.
thanks
i made my own jig with a 301k resistor and a usb connector and there was no joy.
i think i am dead in the water.
i am thinking of getting a phone with a broken screen and swapping out the screens.
is that a tough job?
Was updating using Odin when, as my luck always proves out, a circuit breaker tripped and cut power to my PC. The phone seemed to be frozen on the "Download Mode" screen (30+ minutes of zero activity) so I pulled the battery. Upon reinserting the battery I discover that the phone is 100% unresponsive. I've tried every trick google could produce for me with the exception of the "homemade jig" method as it seemed fairly clear that the phone needed some semblance of life for that to be effective.
So, my question is... WTF??? I've soft modded wiis, hard modded xboxes, hacked PSPs flashed hundreds of phones and generally revel in futzing around in this manner of endeavor and have NEVER bricked a device (even after some incredibly stupid mistakes). This just doesn't make sense and I haven't seen sysmptoms such as mine presented in any of my web searches. Any ideas???
I'm not saying your not a modder, but you should know to have a UPS hooked up to your dev box, for me its a laptop, so...
Anyway, try removing the battery for 1m, press power button with batt removed, now start up Odin, plug the phone in (batt removed still) and see if the phone connects. I'm sure someone will pop in here and provide links to several threads that describe different methods to help you fix this, I would but I'm sorta busy...

Keep the battery out for like a half hour and then try again. That has worked for some people.
Or try the mysterious button that may or may not exist. I know I'd be pushing the heck out of it just in case.
Thank you so much for your quick input... I tried precicely that 3-4 times (google search turned it up) and it was a futile endeavor.
And yes, I am fully aware of all the proper precautions to take, unfortunately I am also fully stupid with frightening regularity (well, maybe just lazy and reckless), I seem to have become a tad cocky as I have never really had to face disaster before today.
It won't happen again!
plug phone into computer without battery. Then hold power and 1 to go into download mode (still no battery)
That there is what I've seen as most effective thing to work on bricked phone's.
cool... I just popped out the battery and will let you know the result in about 40 minutes...
this happened to me recently, i found a post with the solution being to pull the battery out of the phone hold down 1 and the power button at the same time before popping the battery back in and it will send you to the proper screen to odin back to what you need, worked perfect for me
oh crap I editted my previous post. i forgot to mention go into download mode...
It's --
Remove battery and plug into computer. then go into download mode WITHOUT Battery still.

there is no hole in the back case of my device. I've had my device powered on and bent the **** out of a paper clip trying to push the 'hidden magic button' to no avail.
YMMV (false hope ??)
Cool, didn't know that little button existed!
I bricked mine the same way a few weeks ago and tried every trick in the book over the course of 2 days. It was truly bricked. I don't have insurance; however, my phone was under warranty. Since I couldn't get the phone to boot or anything I figured there was no real way of telling what went wrong. I sent it in for warranty repair and 10 days later, the phone returned in working order. Work order says they replaced the main board. I marked the phone before returning it so I know its the same phone and it works fine now.
And before anyone says anything, I know, I'm an evil bastard. But I figure it's payback for a samsung flatscreen that died 6 months out of warranty.
I've done this, leaving my battery out for 20 mins or so, and leaving it out while going into download mode worked for me. I don't know why but sometimes I can't even get into download mode with my battery in.

it doesn't..
to prove this (or dis-prove it).. go into clockwork and make a nandroid backup (you know, just in case)...then boot normally and while you're looking at your home screen, jam a paper clip in there as hard as you can. Your device will do nothing.

No, it's just not proven. Some people swear by it, some say it's a myth and some say it depends on when your phone was made.

Hi guys,
Tried searching for my problem, but though I found some similar stuff, noone had quite my problem.
I was checking my Nexus S after a trip and it was with the 'emergency only' message. This sometimes happens to me, not sure if it's due to the roaming activation or caused by a bug where the radio subsystem crashes after a long period without network.
Anyway, I proceeded to my common solution: Turn off and reboot.
Except that after the phone was off, it would not turn on.
It doesn't even vibrate. It doesn't show anything when connected to the wall socket or to the computer. It's just completely dead.
Now, I'm not even sure if this is a hardware or software problem. Any idea on how I can debug this?
Here's what I've tried:
1. Take the battery out: no changes (even tried leaving it out overnight).
2. Charge the phone overnight: no change.
Next step: I'll go to a store and try a different battery... meanwhile I'm without my primary phone which sucks... Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance!
Try booting your phone into the bootloader. Hold the power button and volume up button simultaneously.
If it is not the battery, i can see what else you can do, a "dont turn on" phone is a dead end...

Sounds like something is wrong with the hardware then. Have you brought it the store? Might need to get a new one on warranty.
I have the same issue with my old Blackberry 9000. It worked fine up until I stopped using it. Left it in a drawer for a few months. Went to sell it to Sprint. Wouldn't turn on. No LED, no nothing. Worked fine months before when I was still using it. To this day I have no idea what's wrong with it and it doesn't turn on.
Why not get an external battery charger and charge the battery up and then test it?
All true, and after trying with a new battery I'll have a bit more information.
But what strikes me as odd is that I didn't leave it in a drawer - I didn't even let the battery run down... it was just a damn reboot! I shut it down, and then couldn't power it up again (try and imagine THAT happening to you). It would be odd for the battery to be sucked dry all of a sudden...
I have a feeling that there's something else... maybe while shutting down something burned out in the power circuitry....? =S
No one ever heard of anything like what I'm experiencing? It sucks to be the only one!
Thanks for all the help so far, guys!
If you can get to download mode nothing is lost. Just flash new image via Odin.

Never heard of that happening, but it's a possibility... Still, I would first attribute it to a bad battery and try that first

With a new battery (that works on another nexus S) still no luck. =(
I still can't find anyone with this problem. I feel like the unluckiest idiot on Earth.
I assume I can't get to download mode since I can't even get the phone to report it is charging (it used to do that even if off). Do you want me to try anything, though? I'm open to suggestions until Monday. Then I'm taking it to Samsung. Hope they can recover my pictures.
BTW, my receipt doesn't have the IMEI and a customer service rep told me I need it on the receipt or they won't give me free support. How can I get it with the phone off?
Regards and thanks to all who responded,

Did you try flashing a different rom? Or radio/
I haven't experienced this myself but I'm very interested on what happened. Did you guys flash any custom ROMS? or Radios for that matter?
This looks very similar to what i have. I just got my nexus s GT-i9023, it doesn't boot into fast boot, recovery, download mode or normal. The most activity i have got so fare is when i take the battery out, put it back it, and try turn the phone on it will sometimes flash then do nothing. I have looked every ware. When i use "./platform-tools/adb get-state" it returns "unknown". Any help would be great.
What i think i did was this:
- Unlocked bootloader, this worked
- restart
- installed clockwork mod with fast boot, this worked
- wiped data
- wiped cache (correct me if i spelt that wrong, or anything else)
- flashed cyanogenmod, this got an error but i didn't notice it the first time and i can't remember what it was.
- flashed gapps, this didn't work, when i restarted the phone it said that the installer for gaps had quit.
- restarted
- flashed cyanogenmod again, this is when i noticed the error
- restarted, didn't change anything
- wiped data
- wiped cache
- flashed i9020t recovery, this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1061855 i think this is what stuffed it up because my phone is i9023
- wiped data after flashing, thats what it said to do, i thought it was strange but i went along with it.
- wiped cache
- reboot
- now doesnt work.
