Take a close look at your X10.... - XPERIA X10 General

just above the 'S' of the sony ericsson logo, and slightly to the left, there appears to be a small hole similar to that on the other side for the notification led....
also, just to the left of the notification led there appears to be a larger hole - is this a front mounted camera (activated by furture updates)??
Or are they just sensors?

Just had a quick look in the manual. It's the light sensor.

RTFM Dub!!!!!
Cheers r_ketting

it comes with a manual???

Notification Light Leakage?

Hi,
When charging, the amber light comes on and just above that where the top of the screen meets the metal frame there appears to be a leakage of light giving the impression the phone is not sealed properly or i cant work out if its a reflection of the amber lite hitting the metal frame, i pulled out the plug and had a close look under sunlight and i could not see any miniscule gap but it is a bit weird, just wondered if anyone else identifies, if not then there must be a tiny gap and the top of the phone cant be sealed properly, i have only had it 2 days and its BNIB.
Feedback appreciated
Thanks

Few questions about X2

As a fresh owner I have a few questions:
1 - The lower right corner of the front panel wobbles (?), moves slightly on touch, I can press it for about 1mm (see the attached screen). It is especially annoying when pressing OK or dial off (or whatever the button is called). Is it normal?
2 - The screen has a slight green tone (hue), can anything be done with it?
3 - LCD has noticeable light leaking near the bottom side, again, is it normal? (Well, the screen does not work now anyway, gotta flash the phone.)
Thanks

(1) I have no issues with this, seams fine on mine
(2) I cannot notice any hue, maybe you have a faulty unit given the blue colour and the movement of the panel.
(3) Yes LCD light is noticible, I also get leaks through the optical pad when I have the notification LED's on
1. I got some small loose on the front pannel upper area, it's especially felt when You hold the phone in one hand and work with Your thumb pressing the screen or just put the phone to You ear. You feel then the pannel moves a bit down. Maybe thats normal or just the build quality is not so good at all.
sounds like you have a faulty one. mine is solid as a rock. the loose screen and the green hue could be related. there shouldnt be any discolouration at all and i can only see it getting worse to be honest. where did you get it? if its somewhere reputable then id take it back and ask for a decent one while its still in warranty.
i do have tiny bit of light leakage near the buttons, that does seem common.
Mine is well made too, no hardware problems.
I have a silver one, solid as a rock, light leaks are present though...

two tiny holes beneath the screen in the top right?

Hey guys,
I've been staring at the top right of the Galaxy S wondering what the two small holes are beneath the screen (just about a centimeter left of the ear piece), it almost looks like a hidden LED, but I can't be sure... Does anyone know?
Zas.
proximity sensor?
Yeah, proximity sensor and light sensor, just found the details after running through the rather bland documentation.

X2 screen problem!!!

I have a problem with my Xperia X2 when i tilt the device to see the upper limit of the screen (which lies prior to 3g camera) while the screen lights ,there is leakage of light above the display as the display not settled in its place well...
Any one have this problem also??
Please any one have X2 just examine it and tell me?
That's to know if i can return it on guarantee...
Hi!
I can see some light in the area you describe, but only when I tilt the phone so that the viewing angle is about 15-20 degrees. It has never bothered me.
Thanks Prydplante for reply, but is this light more near 3g camera or near the sensor or equal through the upper limit of the screen?
Any one can answer me?

No one have X2!!!
Hi!
When I tilt it from 90 to 0 degrees viewing angle I first start to see the light at the 3G camera-side. This happens at about 15 degrees. When tilt it further I also see the light in a small area under the "S" in Sony Ericsson, at about 10 degrees. Tilting it further I can see a little light along the whole upper edge of the display. But this is not important to me.
Really thanks Prydplante for reply and hoping more efficient build quality from Sony Ericsson in next windows phone mobile...

Moto Display and IR sensors

Coming from an S3, I was looking forward to Moto Display and hoping it would work flawlessly enough to compensate for the lack of a notification LED. Unfortunately, I'm not totally satisfied.
It looks to me like there are 3 IR sensors: top right, bottom right, and bottom left. The top right sensor seems to work as it should; waving my hand over that portion of the phone lights up the display about 90-95% of the time. However, the bottom sensors are worrying me. The faint red light is visible emitting from the bottom left sensor, but not the bottom right one (assuming both are IR sensors). Worse yet, even though light is visible from the bottom left sensor, waving my hand repeatedly over that area lights up the display only about 10% of the time.
In summary: waving over only the bottom portion of the phone fails to activate Moto Display well over 50% of the time. I have to target the upper right corner, and even then there are occasional misses.
Does this sound normal, or like a defective unit? What an annoyance -- I don't really want to return it just because of this, but Moto Display should not require effort to activate, in terms of targeting a specific corner of the phone (and having to wave multiple times on occasion).
I cannot satisfactorily answer your question, I just wanted to +1 your experience with my own. My Moto X Pure behaves the exact same as you describe above. Would also like additional confirmation as to whether this is "normal."
Mine works fine and both of the bottom ones faintly glow red.
Mine is the same as above, I can see all three emitters glowing.
AFAIK there are three emitters (one at the top and two at the bottom) and only one sensor (at the top) so if you're moving your hand over the bottom of the phone it would have to be further away or angled towards the top to bounce the IR to the sensor.
If you can only see two that might be an issue though.

THANK YOU -- this is accurate and very helpful. It had never occurred to me that the bottom two were simply emitters. Angling my hand up toward the top of the phone as I move it over the bottom area works at a much higher rate than before.
It does seem that my bottom-right emitter may be inactive, which might explain why I have a slightly tougher time activating MD reliably than I've seen in review videos. But knowing how to angle the hand has increased my success rate enough that I'm not going to worry about it.
