(Pic from the 'Post your ScreenShots' thread)
Why do apps added to the homescreen not display text properly?
In the pic above the 'WiFi Buddy' icon is losing the letter 'y' at the end.
The 'Blapk Market' icon is losing all letters after 'Ma'.
My display does the same thing. In the programs page the icons display correctly. When added to a home page, it seems that all text after about 9 letters disappears.
Is there a solution please?
it's because the name of the icon or program is too long for the icon. It only supports a certain width. if the name is wider than the icon, it does that.
If it didn't do that, the icons would overlap and it would look bloody awful.
highlight the icon using the trackball and you'll see the name start scrolling.

My trackball doesn't seem to do anything on a home screen. I can't highlight anything........
yeah, my bad, just saw that myself. I am sure it used to do that on a magic though....although i only playued with one of those for a short time, so i could be wrong.
but yeah, you would have thought they'd scroll

Hey, i have another question. I am left handed so it's quite annoying for me sometimes to scroll down pages because the scrollbar is at the right side of the screen.
Is there anyway to move the vertical scrollbar to the left side of the screen...?

Not to sure about this, though you can modify size etc of these scroll bars using Advanced config. But I doubt this helps.

Increasing the size isn't really working for me as i still have to move my hand over the screen. But i don't think this is possible yet, cause i can't find anything about this
It's as easy as a spin...

OK, now you can flame me ...
I'm wondering if someone knows of a particular type of application and if they can point me in the right direction? I'll make a request in the appropriate app thread if this hasn't been developer yet.
I'm looking for a sliding app drawer/folder/carousel/dock (whatever you want to call it) that goes on the main home screen.
I guess it's best to illustrate what I'm wanting. Here's my current home screen:

I know my clock is big, but I figure whether it's a clock or a home screen filled with widgets, that give us very little room for shortcut icons.
Where my 4 icons are below the clock, I was wondering if there as an app (or widget) where you can put more shortcuts, then, kinda like the home screens slide left and right, you could run your finger over that drawer or dock and just the icons would slide left or right giving you more choices. I put the arrows there to kinda illustrate what I'm after.
I know about "Launcher Dock", but that popups a transparent dock of it's own, and although it's nice, it's not exactly what I'm after.
I've searched the market, but searching that thing turns up absolutely useless results. I've search for menu, slider, dock, drawer, folder, and lots of other terms to no avail.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.
Quick and dumb question:
I just put this widget on my homescreen and noticed the voice search button (the mic on the right) is now an orange and green circle with a mic instead of the standard graphic when using quick search (square button with a grey mic).
I don't remember it being like that and only just noticed since I didn't have this widget active, is this a change with the OTA update google rolled out or is something funky with my phone or was it always like this and I was blind?

Any thoughts on how to fix?

Just noticed this is only when I'm using Home++. Anyone else with this?
It's something with your phone.. mine still looks like yours used to..

Wow, I wonder what could have caused this. I did the manual update - maybe I should do it again?
Just to make sure here are pics attached. The orange circle is what I have, the other is what I think it should be.
Actually, it should just look like the first one, but with the grey microphone icon instead of that orange circle. The second pic is the "Quick Search Box", which is different than the widget...
I think reflashing the update MIGHT work... only one way to find out.
I posted about this forever ago in the Rhodium forum. Never got an answer or any replies, no +1's, nothing.....
Now we have a couple hd2's and so i bring it to leo forum attention:
is a way to cut down the space in the typing area. See screen shot. Any ideas how to edit this?

Looking at your screen pic, you are pressing return/enter key after you type each word. (key near bottom right).
Yeah no kidding. That was to show my point. Take out all those words and the typing space remains as big as it is there in that screen shot. Its like they set the typing space to 5 or 6 lines before it expands, when it should be set to 1 typing line and expand as needed.
If I remember right, the tilt2 or the fuze this was a reverse problem, meaning there werent enough lines, and someone found that I think it was in the .css file there was a setting to change to make the box bigger, maybe its the same setting. I dont have the time right now, but I'll look later, but do a search in google for htc sms box enlarge setting, if you have trouble finding it, I'll see later and post a link.
Here's a nagging Android riddle I'd like to understand just out of curiosity, as opposed to researching an 'issue' that needs to be resolved. We all have better things to do (laundry, pull weeds, floss) than to make a case out of this post.
I'll ask anyway.
In my graphic the shortcut on the left shows normal behavior from the Settings widget in Oreo. The shortcut on the right, however, just showed up on the home screen out of nowhere. I'm clueless about how it got there and why it has color. Is anybody familiar with this?

I think it's a spyware from mobile-tracker-free.com . Coz I used it before and it comes as the name of WiFi in the settings to avoid attention of the user.

It's not spyware. But mystery solved. The peculiar green shortcut is an Oreo feature.
In my case it showed up by accident. Here's how it's done on purpose:
Long-press the Settings app icon until a pop-up box appears with a short list of widget items that can be dragged to the home screen. In my case there are only 3 options -- battery, data usage and wi-fi.
There are similar effects by long-pressing other apps like Gmail and Messages.
