ok well i have the sprint touch... and i love to slingbox to it. THe sports are really choppy but i mean im getting a 300-500 kpbs connection all the time. So i know the speed is fine. I set motion to high on the settings, but... still its rlly choppy. I heard it was a directdraw problem, and is there anyway to fix it. Possibly on the Slingbox end or? what? or spm program, or a hack to wm6 to make it go to another codec, or just a fix in general for wm6??? anyone???

Please don't make me teach you the differences between GSM and CDMA networks.

I am not getting into a discussion over this!!! What I was saying is that there are so many people complaining about HTC yet we all still have them so we must like them.
Either stop winging about it and accept that HTC have got a number of things wrong or go and get something else!!

No way man.. I'll f*ck with her as much as I want then I'm getting a new one. LOL
Same goes with my phone.
I won't go with "we all still have them so we must like them" crap.

Um, you can mod the iPhone and it's amazing. Blows my slow Tilt away. Glad I use both cause this Tilt is the size and shape of what its almost good for. Paper weight!
Back to the topic at hand...
I don't know how the encoding of the slingbox works, and if you can modify the encoding settings, but i managed to stream from via VLC with the following scenario:
My Dreambox -> My PC (VLC Transcoding to qVga) -> Internet -> WiFi -> HTC Herald (VLC Client).
I don't remember the bitrate when i tested it, but my connection at home caps at 256Kb upload, so that means the stream was on a somewhat lower bitrate.
If you can modify the Slingbox encoding settings and play with them, maybe drop the quality somewhat shouldn't you be able to view the stream?
ps. if something above doesn't make sense, i just woke up

lul @ gay..
dude, there's golden era ppc world besides htc stuff, too.
problem is, that usually, htc machines are crap with omap or samsung cpus.
all bout that.
It seems like my (newish) HTC Touch Rom with WM6.1 doesn't use DirectDraws at all.
I did some remote debugging on it, and while I am not a mobile programmer all indications were that this was a sigificant change from WM 6.0. (I.e. call stacks during video playback newer show directDraw, while in the past they did).
Personally I really like my Vogue. It seems to get the most trash talk of all of the HTC's, but it works for my needs tastes better than anything else I have owned.
To be fair, my last phone was back in the WM5 days, so that last statement is not exactly a fair coparison.
Hello guys , i hope a post this right
I am going to buy a new phone soon and I am looking on this HTC HD and i have read a lots of reviews and watched many videos , and I am now wondering should i buy this or the HTC Touch Pro or antother HTC?
I have read many posts at this forum and I have som problem to choose
Sorry for the bad english
I think nobody is able to answer this question for you at all. Its a good device, but HTC Touch Pro is also not as bad .
It all depends on what you need. If you are sending out a lot of emails and text messages, the Touch Pro might be a better choice because of the hardware keyboard. I say might because the large screen of the Touch HD makes using a SIP very effective as well.
But if you are looking for a multimedia phone, the Touch HD is the way to go.
So why don't you start by letting us know what you need it for?
Well ,
I send alots of sms but I think you will get use to the on-screen keyboard, just you get use to everything else.
Surf on the web is also a thing I do much... but the thing i do most is listen to music , and take some photos but not that much.
Whatch som movies never hits wrong.
This post was messy xD hope you understand
well it looks like the Touch HD will suit you just fine
But i wonder one thing, is it many problems with it? many says is god and many says its bad , but what i have seen the most can i find here , many solutions and fixeses
Overall, it's the best device around! And XDA has many tweeks, fixes, & even cooked roms!!
Thx guys , all thats is left now it to get the money xD
Yea man, after having the VOGUE, DIAMOND, and TOUCH PRO (which im still trying to sell) the HD is the phone i would and will go with. Thing is, i am on sprint, so once i get the phone imported, i will have to jump ship, but after having some hands-on time with the phone, trust me, it will be worth it. It's a shame that this phone isn't coming to the U.S. but, as far as rumors go......the G2 maybe an equivalent of the HD????

why don't you head over to the tweak thread. lotta things hidden you might want. like gps photos. extra camera modes etc. etc.
Congrats on getting the HD2 mate!
I recommend Experiment 13 game its a really good laugh!
I love playing about with Shazam as well, always using it when a random song comes on in a movie and i want to know who sings it!
but i'm still new myself and learning what apps are best!
Congratulation from my side as well ;-)

Don't be shy. just try everything you think it might be of any use to you. Take a note of your favourites and then go for a hard reset once you think you have the baby there where you need it to be. Then go for all your favs.
You will have a bunch of fun ;-)
Cheers,
LEE
I would recommend fpsece, a playstation one emulator. this app just simply rox. http://www.fpsece.net/ donators version is even better - multitouch and save state.
Thanks dudes will take a look!!!
I've seen shazam on the iPhone so would like to get that for my HD2!

Hey mate, I just got mine too. I'm also on Vodafone. Would I be right in saying you signed up as a business customer?
Any chance you've figured out how to update the firmware, because Vodafone haven't released an update yet..?
Hey Tuffy,
I got mine from Phones4U for Free (24 month contract tho!!)
I signed up on HTC.com for e-club and they release ROM updates on there dude.
I installed Experiment 13... Got it from freeware pocket pc, its pretty sweet game for free!!
if you install core player you will dont need a converter for the most of video formats!!

Unless your video is over 1008 pixels wide.... unfortunately core player won't support that and you need to encode it at a lower size

you need 2.5 for windows mobile 6.5.
Here you go.. found this today! go to the link and you'll find a cab for the stock HD2 youtube, it works perfectly on my touch pro 2. There are other great goodies to download from the link, thx to kurniawan77...

These are cab extracted from the HD2 and most of them work perfect on my touch pro 2
The YouTube cab is the one that came originally with the HD2 and similar/if not the same to the one that came with the touch pro 2. I tried it and it worked perfect!!!!
thanks to kurniawan77..
ENJOY!
tjworldgreatest, you are the best! of course that worked!! flawlessly, finally I don't have to cringe while watching some videos..I was never into the full user experience on Youtube, so I really don't care about my login stuff anyway..
does the hd2 version of youtube bring anything extra? i might get bored and install it.
^^not that I could tell..Looks exactly the same. Both versions are still 2.6..

Oh Yeah....
Your going to get that on any of the ripped HTC YouTube versions....they dont support landscape, expect for when the video plays.
With search and what not in the menus, you have to use on screen keyboard.
They arent meant for our devices...
the stock version of youtube for rhodium has landscape support.

Are you going to trade it for some snapdragon android?
yes yes yes this phone is ten times better than what i expected it to be.... compared to my g1, this is heaven.
except when it freezes randomly for a couple seconds unexpectedly...
I have had WM thru my last 3 phones (Dash, TP2, now HD2) I will be keeping my HD2 and LOVE WM

+1
Also, coming from G1. Still getting used to WM.
Wasn't thrilled the first few days, but that was just due to the learning curve. I'm now aware of how customizable WM is, which is great. So many ROM's, so many skins means that we can dial in our phones (no pun intended) the way we want them to be.
The screen and responsiveness on this thing is what is keeping me on it more than anything, though. Plus, I love the HTC music player, photo and video player, and calender. Great looking apps.

just noticed the new section for tmo-us.
I don't like the looks of the custom roms so far...we'll se in the future.
I'm so in between right now.
I was at the TMo store and googled if the HD2 was getting WinMo7 and the first few links said yes, so I bought it (impulse buy, I was there to change my calling plan).
I really was going to get a Nexus One because I like Android but as other posters have said, after the WinMo learning curve, again (this is NOT the first WM phone I've had) I am in between.
This has an amazing screen, hands down. But really, that's where the differences end for me (besides WM and Android)
-Both have XDA devs and their amazing custom roms
-Both have (well HD2 will have) a huge following
Tough call. I miss my apps on the iPhone but that's all I miss with it. Where are my updated RTS games? Or a good (and cheap) TD game for WM6.5?

Yes, but man... does it cost an arm and a leg.
I'm definitely keeping it, I'm using international HD2 in UK
Through my experiences in the old days with Hero and 3GS, I got bored really quick with android and iphone os, but not with HD2/Winmo now. I found myself to be kind of loving to tweak my phone. I love the open-source and customizations of Winmo, still finding a lot to do with my HD2.
However, I really miss some apps and games from android or iphone os, such as: Plants vs Zombies, Angry Birds, Layar Reality Browser and especially Tunewiki. I heard a winmo version of Tunewiki is in developing process, hope it will come soon.
