Brightness up and down? - Nexus One General

Is anyone else's Automatic Brightness a little to sensative? My Nexus is constantly getting brighter and darker even by the smallest movement, it's annoying when I'm texting, or browsing the internet. For those of you who will say to turn it off, here's the thing I love that feature but is yours that sensative? Any Fix?

i have the same problem but lately it hasnt been that bad. are u blocking the light sensor when ur texting?

This has been a common complaint since the phone was first released back in January. Unfortunately, I haven't heard of any tweaks that address it.

It's a feature that simply does not work - yet the phones are shipped anyway. HTC reps I have talked to claim it is a software issue, that will be fixed when a future update is released...

SGS2 Flaws & Possible (future) solutions

Hi.
I'm new to forums, so hello. I hope I won't make you nervous with my thread .
So, I have doubts on buying an SGS2. At first I was "wow'ed", then I read all reviews and watched all videos and I was "wow'ed" even more. But after reading forums I got totally disappointed, beacause SGS2 seems deeply flawed.
I know there are single threads for each problem, but getting through tens or hundreds of "me too" posts is a bit troubling, so I'd like to gather or problems, which are happening on all or at least many SGS2, on one list and ask if they got repaired or is there any view on them being repaired. Also I'd like to ask SGS2 users, who suffer from those problems, if they are really troubling and if they would buy SGS2 knowing 'bout them.
So, the list is:
- yellow tinting (smudge-stain) - I've read opinions that it's just glue, AFAIR I've read opinion that it got off after some usage time. Some claim that it is repaired in newer software, however I guess its hardware issue and I don't have any idea how such issue can be repaired via software. Is it very common, or just some phones are flawed?
- not-fluent gradients - so, I know it's software-related, and its due using 16-bits and bad dithering/high contrast on SGS2 and happens not only on SGS2, but its much more visible on SGS2 display. The question is: are there any official upgrades or custom roms that address that issue? If not, are such planned?
- pink spot on photos - common for many many phones, but we know it can be greatly corrected by software update. Are there any good software upgrades / custom photo apps to address this issue?
- darker left side of screen - just read about it recently... is it common? can it be addressed by software/firmware upgrade?
- random power offs - I've heard that many users complain about their phones going off randomly. Some said it's just matter of dust or dirt... Is there anyone who's phone is power-offing randomly and don't know why?
- high temperature - seems a problem too, due to slickness of SGS2. My question is, if it's really that troubling and if it can cause some defects after longer usage?
I know there are more problems, but they are not that common and can be solved by "return to a shop" method . So I don't list them here.
Once again - sorry for duplicating many posts. I hope that this thread will be useful for other people, who have doubts on buying SGS2 because of those problems.
You know. I agree on paying much for phone, but I demand flawless work. And I rage over every little issue when I expect something to be near-perfect... So... If you could help me to decide whether I want SGS2 or I don't, I'd be glad and thankfull (otherwise, just close/delete the thread ).
Cheers.

User who claim to have it will say every phone has it . Not on my phone and not on many others .

You would have to ask Samsung that question . Again its something i dont notice .

No

Never heard of this one

Who are these many users out of six million some have got to have a reboot especially with some of the numptys who install roms without reading the instructions .
- high temperature - seems a problem too, due to slickness of SGS2. My question is, if it's really that troubling and if it can cause some defects after longer usage?
Only been out three months so who can tell long term .
Very hot never on my phone but i dont play games .
Would i buy another you bet .
Should you buy one a BIG BIG NO you have already found loads of might be problems that you will convince yourself exist on the phone you buy .

Stop and think about it, if this phone was sold defective how could it reach 6million sold. Wouldn't the tech sites be all over it if this phone was faulty.
6million vs 30users on xda and who knows what they did to there phones.

have had sgs2 for 2 months now have not faced a single problem
- Yellow tint is haaardly noticeable. You really have to be careful on a gray screen with low brightness to eventually notice it. It's not a problem at all.
- Pink spot ? I never had this issue, and I still haven't. But as stated, it's fixed in a software update, if needed.
- I haven't noticed any darker side (might be related to the yellow tint, so same reason)
- Random power offs: Haven't got any shutdown or reboot, even with custom ROMs.
- About heat problem, I got it sometimes a bit hot, but nothing preventing me from using it, or holding it.
So definately issues are not a big deal compared to the wonderfulness this phone is.

Really ? so my SG2 is just one of the fews that has yellow tint, pink spot, leaked light on home button, random high temperature issues ? so should i demand samsung to replace my SG2 ?
So I must be one of the 30 unhappy XDA people who post their problems, right?
Yes I have pink spot and the phone sometimes gets really hot, that's the two pissues I have but they don"t really bother as much as THE VOLUME of the in ear speaker and headphone volume output is very very low compare to any other phone I own (owned).
I have 4 friends who have SGS 2 and all of them complain about somehow low volume or muted sound, so I am sure it's not just me. (please don't post about using volume + or re setting the values by Samsung secret codes - tried all that, it doesn't work)
So if Samsung adress this issue with their next update I will be very happy.

Guys, thanks for posts, but lets stick to original form, which is: (future) fixes for problems and if they are a big deal for ppl who has them. These are all common problems (some are typical of all SGS2s) so there is no use in just saying that you have them or arguing on how common they are. I don't read XDA only, also other (not-english-language) forums, so these are based not only on XDA (tbh, they are based mainly on other sources).
Please, I wouldn't like this turn into flamewar.

Maybe get one of these if you don't mind spending a bit of extra cash.

Yellow Tint Issue:
Its there on a lot of phones, A lot of people say this is a non issue because they cant see it on their phones ( or they have visual impairment ), they also fail to understand that the issue affects each phone very differently, with my personal experience of 30+ phones only 6 (AFAIK) had extremely minimal yellow tint.
My phone has a yellow tint, after knowing the 2.3.4 removes the tint I've stopped the replacement request already as it is pointless. It maybe a non issue to you or to the other 5,999,999 buyers but its there.
Gradient issue:
Some say its a rendering limitation on the GPU it self, others say it can be corrected at a kernel level by putting the render mode to 24bit.
Pink spots:
Software issue, I dont think samsung has any intentions to fix this, since this is a common norm with modern day cameras on mobile phones, this is a non issue for me.
Darker left side of the screen:
A lot of phones or maybe even all phones suffer from this issue from 0 to 20% brightness, at 30% it even outs a tiny bit, at 50% its non existent anymore.. My Galaxy S never had this issue even at 0% brightness, a non issue to me.
Random Power offs:
Never experienced it actually but I know a friend who had this issue got this unit replaced.
High temperature:
Different phones give off different heat profiles, I've been playing a lot of HD games on my phone and Its barely even warmer than playing Angry birds, on my friend's phone his heats up pretty good but not to the point that its alarming.
Despite all of these issues, I still love the phone. What bothers me the most is the screen issue though, none of these were on the Galaxy S and with the Galaxy S2 the general public has accepted these issue to be normal ( which baffles me ). Just dont let the people who wanna run statistics in your face tell you different.

Theres no fix yet and I really doubt samsung will which such a small camera issue, its practically not there if you dont look for it.
If you wanna know about this then take a picture of a white sheet of paper under automatic white balance you should be able to see it even on the viewfinder mode.

I honestly believe that there are more than 30 ppl in XDA having issues with the phone that includes random shut-off, overheating, camera issues, screen issues and battery life issues. But I guess those people who got unlucky with their phones are people who dont know how to use it right since the other 6M buyers didnt have issues at all. Issues are always a minority else the phone would never even hit mass production.. Even the GPS issues on the Galaxy S which was covered by techsites, they were a minority but that doesnt mean their issues are invalid/unrealistic/made up.

If he's thinking about getting a phone of this caliber, he chose it because of other features, which are far more significant then a "darker left side". I don't blame the OP, I read a LOT before buying it, because it's an expensive phone; but what's the point of asking all these? Some people have it, and they complained, some don't, they didn't... so at most you will get some random answers depending on your luck and which people reply to your thread. If I'd say yes my phone has a yellowish tint, would he not buy it anymore? Is this so decisive?
There are ****loads of threads which already discussed it; reading them all is lots of work, but asking this has the same results as you would open a thread like that and read 10 posts randomly, you just take a small sample and reassure yourself that it's a good phone, or the opposite.
Okay OP, let me tell you, this phone is the BEST you will ever get. I don't have any of the problems you said, expect the pink spot, which I never noticed until someone pointed it out. I know other people who have it and they don't have the problems either. Take my words, go and buy it now, it's awesome. Weee.
You sound like your the one *****ing
You know this thread wasn't meant to be about existance of flaws (which exist) but primarly about if there is a fix for them or if the fix is coming. Maybe I stated it wrong in original post (now as I read it, maybe that is the case).
EDIT: I am getting SGS2 later this week or the next week for 99%. I'll just check at the store if the yellow thing isn't a dealbreaker. If no, I'll get it. Of course any feedback on main topic (which is (upcoming) fixes) is welcome!
Cofalik, any normal person researching the SGS2 will get scared after reading the threads here. I've got the pink circle and yellow tinting, but the problems can be fixed/improved with software. Besides, they are difficult to detect (when not specifically looking for them) and only show up in certain conditions. I never had any heating problems or random reboots.
The phone is fanstastic. I think you're gonna love it.
However, if you don't, please blame someone else.

Issue Poll (How many of you really have it?)

Hey guys! I thought I'd start a poll to see how many Note owners have issues. It seems that a lot of people complain, and it may seem exaggerated. Let's find out.
THE POLL: 2 phase poll
Are you having issues?
Please elaborate in the thread.
the 2 threads thats posted, theres only about 5 people with issues.

That's why I started the poll, to actually see how many people are having issues or not. I showed this thread to my room mate, and he laughed and said "I'm sure some of them are Apple employees trying to steal some thunder" lol.
Regardless, I've taken the plunge, and I hope I get a good one, but just to see, I read a lot on this forum and I see a lot of negative remarks, which worried me, and I'm patient enough to read a lot, so I'm sure there are others who are less patient and just want to know what the real situation is... hence this thread's creation
Interesting!
Biggest issue with any device is the internet. You have to take what you read with a grain of salt. If I listen to the internet I wouldnt have a house full of nice things.
Wouldnt have ended up with my favorite vehicle dodge magnum or my plasma tv if it was up to the internet. Years later they all work perfectly till this day.
All in all, people tend to post more when there having issues then when not. If I created a thread about how awesome the note is, it would maybe get 20-50 post if your lucky and sink to the last page of the website. If I made a thread about something negative about the note I would have a 100+ post and 100000 views.
If majority of the galaxy notes in the world had issues, you wouldnt have to visit xda or android forums to find out. Good luck with your poll.

I don't see any harm in having this poll either. I think it'll reaffirm more than it will bother. Especially since it takes all of 3 seconds to vote and hit the back key.

No issue so far. The only problem I face is kinda "short" battery life. Got 5:30 at most with non-stop heavy usage. So I have to charge it twice a day. And the charging time kinda slow due to big battery capacity.

Wifi signal dropped
Got my note last week and right off the bat I noticed my wifi signal kept getting dropped (as in auto turned itself off). At first I thought it was just a freak accident, but after having to repeatedly turn on wifi I realized something was wrong; I re-setup my wifi connection settings a couple of times, did the OTA update avail to my unit (unlocked, unbranded version) and even did factory reset twice but to no avail. I guess I should say factory reset seemed to fix it the first time, but the problem came back after close to an hour of testing. Thankfully I just bought it so I returned it to the seller who claimed after testing for 2 hrs my problem never flared up, but still decided to send me a replace thank God! I hope this isn't the case with the new handset I will be receiving in a few days, but I wonder if anyone has had this?
btw the wifi connection was setup to a secured network so it wasn't about being booted off for too many devices to my router
got no real issues, some battery drain problems that i can easily detected and destroyed thats all.
I have problem with Android OS eating CPU when Wi-Fi enabled. Disabling it helps. This is a software issue, I had the same with my SGS2 once a while.
until the screen everything is near perfect! with the screen i have the same issue as with my first galaxy S2: one side of the screen has a tint and is considerably darker at low brightness levels. (S2: left side, yellow tint; Note: right side, blue tint)
I used to have "sleep of death" issue but not anymore since I flashed the latest KL3 firmware.
Seems i may have some problems with call clarity, but i don't really care as i only use it for that in emergencies. Also this may change with the addition of a blutooth headset or if i get some more practice calling people/being called on it.
I bet most of you have units with the horizontal lines appearing. You just gotta look closely at low brightness, lol. These statistics don't look appealing to me; I've seen over 10 Notes all over India and all have identical issues. No difference, lol. Go Figure.

its possible that all India units had a bad production line. And if you REALLY need to look that closely, why would you care if it's not noticeable? This is always true with cars, your body (as no one is completely symmetrical), or anything hand made. this is no different, but if you can't notice it yourself, and you use it happily, then why bother yourself FINDING AND LOOKING for issues?
If you have to look closely then thats not a real issue, but yeah even upon closer inspection the screen should not have any of those since the lower end SAMOLED devices dont have it.
On my end the main issue I have is the lines as well but you dont need to look for it, at any brightness level its visible even at 100% but its been approved for a screen replacement anyway.
A small issue is on the ear piece but I've gotten used to this on samsung devices since the galaxy S1, the volume on the ear piece is EXTREMELY low.. my older and cheaper phones have about 3x more volume and about TWICE the clarity.
Touch screen sensitivity is rather poor compared to the Galaxy S1 ( pre 2.2 update ) it has the same sensitivity level as an untweaked Galaxy S2.
Gamma levels need to be worked out, the HD screen is moot.
No issues yes.. Owned it for two days only..
If you included the pink spot on the poll that would probably be the most selected issue.

I had a similar issue, however I tracked the problem down to my setup. A couple of weeks after acquiring the Note, the wi-fi started to turn itself off 'on it's own'. This happened for several days in a row, so I thought there was a problem with the phone, however...
I use an application call Llama to automatically switch on and off my Wi-fi when I enter or leave my home GSM cell (there's only one cell in the village where I live!). I'd been using this app for well over a year on my Desire without issue, so I'd automatically installed it on the Note. It turns out that that the cell tower was either faulty, being fixed/upgraded or both. I told Llama to spend 5 minutes relearning the cells in my area and the problem has now gone away

My Xperiz Z3 (D6616) Experience

Hey everyone,
So, I've acquired my Z3 from Tmo on Oct 29th, the day it was released. Thus far, I've pretty happy with it. The battery is amazing, although I know it will last me over a day, or more, I'm stuck in my old habits of charging...which I am attempting to get used to better battery life. Anywho, here's my cons with this phone:
-I was using a Samsung Galaxy S3 (T999). The touch screen worked great. This phone though, I've had delays or my touches not being noticed. More so when I first turn the phone on to the lockscreen. If I give it about 10 seconds, it will respond to all touches.
-Along the same lines as the lockscreen not acknowledging all my touches, this also happens during various games or apps. Playing Arcane Legends, for instance, when I attempt to move, sometimes it doesn't. If I retry two or three times, it will then start working.
-I also get crackling sounds during calls, not all the time, but it is often enough. Also, when I have the touch sounds enabled and speakers plugged into it, it often also makes crackling sounds.
-Had many more settings to choose from when I was using Cyanogenmod 11 on my SGS3. I would figure this to be the case, but I do miss some settings, especially some Security-based ones. Maybe there are secret menus?
-I also wished that the LED was brighter... in my opinion it is really dim.
With all that being said, and knowing that Android L is on the way in a few months, I'm more than willing to wait to see is these issues are resolved. If not, I'll be getting a hold of Sony support to resolve these issues.
I'm curious if any of you have had these issues and if you've found workarounds.
As far as the pros, they outweigh the cons noted above. Battery is awesome, responsiveness if awesome, the overall experience is awesome. Works well with anything that I throw at it and its still goes beyond that.
Thanks,
Johnathan

I'd like to also add, that as far as functionality of the phone itself, the rotating flaps for the exposed ports seems to be a little flimsy and can easily break. This worries me a bit that if they are accidentally snapped off due to slight mishandling... you'll lose your waterproofing.
Also, I don't like that the volume options when using the volume up and down buttons isn't more granular. For instance, when I wanted to increase the SMS notification volume, I had to go through Setting instead of having more volume options when the buttons are pressed. Did I miss a setting?
Considering getting it replaced to see if that's the issue with the touchness delay or crackling sounds.
Thanks,
Johnathan

The phone comes with an extra USB cover, won't lose anything. MicroSD/Sim shouldn't come off very often. I don't think you need be concerned.

Elysian893,
I am not concerned for my own experience, however I can see where this can be an issue.
Waiting for my DK48 magnetic dock to arrive, which will alleviate my concern.
Thanks,

Johnathan,
I've experienced some crackling/popping when on a call without using my headset. After a reboot though, it seems to have gone away. The last 2 days, my battery began lasting no more than 5-6 hours. I thought that it might have something to do with an app, so I began experimenting and found that the Sony Photo upload service was hanging, and also Lookout was scanning everything constantly. I uninstalled Lookout and disabled the Sony uploads and things seem to have returned to normal, although I will need another day or so to evaluate.
FWIW, here is my review I posted over the weekend:
___________________________________________
Never owned a Sony phone but now I "have a Sony for my Owny" (older folks will get this line)! I must say - I am in love with one caveat - that being a locked bootloader. Pretty disappointed in that however I was happy to read a page or 2 back that I will likely still be able to root which is really all I care about. That said, the bloatware on the D6616 is minimal, so aside from liking to try out new ROM's and removing ads, I guess I can live with that one "caveat".
The phone itself is gorgeous - in fact, I told my wife that it's almost as sexy as she is (yeah - I take my phone's pretty seriously )! I love its size - I had a OnePlus One which I was pretty happy with, but being an average size guy (that's being generous), I found it really difficult to use it with one hand. The Z3 has a slightly smaller screen size vs the OPO, but the overall build size is proportionally smaller as well, making it even more attractive size-wise. Of course, the other side of that coin is that the OPO has a non-slip back in the 64gb version which was really nice, however I see that wearing out over time. The Z3 is slippery meaning I will likely cover the beautiful beast with a case - but we'll see if I end up keeping a case on it. I've always been one to believe that if you have insurance and a beautiful device, covering that device with a case is counter-intuitive. I'm torn on the case thing - time will tell.
The phone is incredibly smooth and responsive, the speaker is pretty loud and sounds good, and the camera is arguably the best available on a phone. Not sure I like all the options the camera offers - many or pretty hokey - but the picture quality is just brilliant. Overall, this phone may last me more than a year which would beat my last two phones. You see, I have "NewPhone-itus" and it's a serious case!
If anyone has any questions - fire away and I will do my best to answer!
I'm surprised at the z3 hate on xda. With all the complaints about the camera, build quality, software issues, etc, I find myself getting paranoid looking for problems with the phone. The truth is that it's a pretty great phone so far. Great battery, great camera, fast and responsive, and yes, as sexy as shermcraigs wife ?. A week in and I'm happy with my trade from my m8.

Its not that the phone itself is bad per say, its the lack of consistency/quality control. I am on my 4th one here due to various issues from indented frame to bad camera to light bleed to massive screen gaps. Thanks to T-Mobile 14 day policy I was able to through so many phones. A rep had to open 5-6 phones to give me a good one when I got my third only to find it has a massive ligh tleak on on side. The one I got today thank god is finally issueless so far at least. My local T-Mobile store is sending many back to Sony, they are actively opening boxes, checking for defects and returning before even giving to customers.
I have owned phones from practically every company, this is the first time I have had to return a phone, let alone 3. All companies have issues with initial batches but this was just too widespread. I am sure future batches will be rectified, its one of the down sides of immediately adopting a new model as soon as release.

But you have to pay for restocking fee of $50?

I would seriously doubt it - he was exchanging a bad unit,
not returning. Big difference.

No fees, because its a defect and you are asking for the same model. Fee is only if you switch models.

Did you do it within the first 14 days?
Maybe color change constitutes the equivalent of model change.

My sister exchanged her white GS4 for another white one due to yellowish tint on top, they did it for free. I think because you just wanted a color change and there was no defect they charged you.
I have T-Mobile.
My only gripe is that there is no Group MMS built in. It really, really sucks. And it is causing me to return this phone in a few days. I can use Textra (or Google Hangouts) for Group MMS, but it will not send them out when WiFi Calling is enabled. I know there is a "WiFI Calling fix" option specifically for T-Mobile phones when using Textra, but all that does is disable WiFi when sending/receiving MMS messages and then re-enables it. That completely defeats the purpose of WiFI Calling if you're not going to have service in a certain area.
Group MMS is extremely important to me. For whatever reason, only stock messaging apps have the capability of utilizing T-Mobile's WiFi Calling to send/receive MMS. (SMS works fine).
My HTC One m7 had the ability to do it with its stock messaging app. So, for now, I have no choice but to return my phone, fight the $50 restocking fee, and go back to my paid off HTC One. I am speechless that this phone does not support it.

Automatic brightness annoyance

Coming from an iPhone i've always used automatic brightness and have found it helpful. Since using it on this phone I have found it either dims too much or not enough, always bright and dark even if I am in one spot. It's much more noticeable on this phone.
Is anybody experiencing similar?
Yeah I feel the same, the auto brightness is not sufficient especially indoors. At night with the comfort view turn on I just manually adjust the brightness to around 30%.
Yup it's pure garbage, often times it will read 0% indoors. Guessing they did it to save battery life. Hopefully an update fixes it.
yea, the G6 has without a doubt, the most annoying auto-brightness I have experienced on any phone I can immediately recall. It's honestly amazing that something as remedial as auto-brightness is something we are still discussing in 2017 as it relates to a flagship phone no less. I am an Android fan, but I do appreciate Apple's ability to at least get the little things right. I want to love the G6 and in many ways I do, but sadly I will be returning mine because it simply frustrates me in some pretty basic areas.

I actually have seen that in the past however, I just don't think that in 2017 we should have to be installing 3rd party apps on a $700 phone just to get something as simple as auto-brightness working properly. It's kind of sad.

I understand what you mean, a premium device should feel PREMIUM. But I won't be returning it because it's the best android device and LG Phone I've used period. I know its annoying but I rather trade the brightness issues that can be easily fix with a 3rd party app without rooting, unlike Samsung's annoying message telling you each time that your volume is too high wild listening to headphones. Sometime you need to justify it with other annoyance from other manufacturers.
I'm coming from an iPhone 7, and I honestly haven't noticed any problems with automatic screen brightness. My only gripe is that the minimum brightness is too high for night reading, but I figured out that this can be resolved by turning on the battery saver if I'm using the phone on the dark.

Does 6T Disappoint you ??

I realize I. might upset the hardcore Fanboys here, but I'm a little disappointed in my OP6T,The phone is great, but I feel it hasn't got as much support as it's predecessors in terms of updates so far and it's software experience so far has just been okay,

The only thing that bothers me is the absence of a LED NOTIFICATION light.
Camera could have been better but it's usable.
Other than that, the device itself is amazing.
Before the purchase I had big concerns because of some bad reviews and some comments in this forum (no headphone jack, annoying fingerprint scanner, missing led, screen brightness).
However, after using it, I have to say, that it is great. It is the best phone I ever had (came from multiple samsung devices: galaxy m, galaxy s5, galaxy s8+).
I noticed, that I dont miss any of that things mentioned above with the OP6T.
So for me, it was the other way around: Before purchase, major concerns. After purchase, I feel really happy with the phone.
One thing I don't like about this device is the fingerprint it lags sometimes other brands like oppo and vivo phones have faster fingerprint responsive in display fingerprints.

Love my 6T. No disappointment. But I really wish they had I included the notification LED also.

I bought the McLaren edition, thinking I would have a nice phone for about two years, BUT, my phone suffering from considerable oled uniformity. The fact is that it has the absolutely worst oled screen I've ever seen. And it takes away all the joy of using the phone. I'm super mega disappointed just because of the bad screen.
Notification led missing, but replaced with Plus Beat app. Of course i prefer notification LED.
Camera it's good in day light. At night i sleep.
The updates are GOOD. 6T just caugth chinese hollydays. What phone gives you updates once at 2 weeks ? (open betas)
Fingerprint and some other apps lags because of deep sleep, baterry savings.
Only BIG disappointment for me it's front camera! I never do seflie. It's LAME !
Interesting to read your comments, having come from op3 and last year went from the 6 to 6T,I am disappointed not least because the 6 is a better phone this year than the T, besides the battery life,
really wish they could have fitted in the led somewhere and kept the rear fingerprint scanner, also feel like they just put the in display sensor there for the sake of it,because they ran fresh out of selling points, I'm not even sure they'll keep it for the 7,
Also there has been a lack of quality updates for the 6T in terms of optimizations for camera and fingerprint,
I'm keeping my eye on the xaomi mi 9 thinking that thing is gonna be cheaper than the 7 and comes with a whole load of awesome features like 48mp camera, quick wireless charge.I stick with OnePlus for community and betas, but there prices are gonna be mental soon compared to competition.
Not sure OnePlus is worth settling for anymore when compared to competition
I'm disappointed in the dropped *Universal Audio port* 0 reason for this.. The notification LED 0 reason for this, the inferior FP sensor that gets slower every time I use it and just repeatedly rejects my left thumb no matter where I place it or how many times I re enrol it..
The garbage single speaker and output over the type C port, I thought they would of improved the DAC by now. Luckily for me I bought a KZ Type C cable that has it's own bundled DAC so it's a little better than the one included in the phone.
The garbage camera software and budget Sony sensors... Still cutting corners and making same old mistakes. They wanna be premium now and charge almost flagship money. Yet can't give a good camera experience.
Buggy OOS same old bugs that ruin the experience.... No camera blobs what they promised in the OP3 and no source for the FP sensor is just taking the p**s, Luckily we have gcam ports and Talented devs to port the fp sensor functionality to AOSP based roms.
For me if they don't improve the audio or camera won't be buying future devices. OP3 launched at £309 with basically the same experience, Yet the OP6T is £499 and still paying for the same old "Mid range hardware and cut corners" nothing warrants the price increase.
never!
I've had the McLaren edition for about a month. Whereas I can understand some of the common complaints others have about the device, I personally remain very happy with my purchase. I have had a lot of fun with this device and the pros about the device far outweigh the cons.
I find that these days it is hard to find the perfect device for me mainly because of the development community which is very important to me. The inability to unlock bootloaders and have a robust development community on other devices immediately rule those devices out. At this point, I feel I'll stay with Oneplus devices or try out a Pixel at some point. I just feel that what you get with Oneplus for the money provides a very high ROI.
So, no, I am not disappointed and am rather having fun learning new mods and enjoying my sleek special edition device. :good:

In today's world all that light does is stay permanently on. Back in '05 it made sense before there was a new notification every 10 minutes for something or another.

I completely disagree.
Every Android device I ever had before was able to use that light plus the Light Flow app, to silently notify me of different types of notifications. Blue for emails from friends, purple for email to my account shared with wife, yellow for commercial things like bills, red for incoming texts, white for voicemail waiting. Flashing in sequence for combinations of these.
No ring, no vibration to distract a meeting, and I could discretely look down at the other wise dark phone at any time and know what's up, or see it from across the kitchen.
It used almost no battery and was completely unobtrusive.
Bring back the LED!

Only with the in-screen fp sensor. It's a gimmick that solves no problem and is sub-standard compared to rear fp sensor that preceded it.

Well, you should check out NoLED app. You can do most all of the above! I have every type of notification color coded and the dot(s) appear on the screen (and moves around to prevent any burn-in). Doesn't seem to use a lot of battery for me. :good:

So far I am loving the 6T! I just went to the Verizon store and tried to talk my wife into letting me buy the S10. I do my normal routine and explain to her,,,as she is ignoring me LOL,, that the new S10 has all these new features and improvements. But, what really happened is that I talked myself out of buying the S10. I just couldn't justify spending 380 (which is what it would have been after trading in my older S9 and the Teacher discount she gets). The ram was the same, storage size the same, touch wiz in any form can be a pain (even though the new UI is pretty good I have to admit). It just wasnt that big of an upgrade to me. After putting a wireless charging receiver inside the case of my 6T now I have wireless charging, I am completely content.
this phone sucks....
i don't get why so many said its good phone or the best phone at all
i am actually having problem with dual sim, it won't lock to my data sim and it keeps on switching to the non data sim after i leave my house and wifi get disconnected so i have to manually switch back to my data everytime, its so annoying
also the finger print its a joke...its better off using face or pin
bluetooth keeps disconnect occasionally when it connected my car's bluetooth, not sure why and not sure why sometimes works
vibrate is very weak that missed all the calls and notifications
double tap to wake up doesn't work 100 percent of the time, maybe 80 percent work
with this price point, its sucks, its a super annoying phone
Must be worth something for TMobile to be offering a trade in value of 390 for it if you're buying the Galaxy S10.
I'm not disappointed as I did my research and knew what to expect from the phone from this price point. I do miss the stereo speakers set up and led notification but other than that it's a good phone.
If people want all the bells and whistles then they are going to have to spend £1000 on Samsung or Huawei. There are competition out there for OnePlus at the similar price point but they also make compromises sadly, like the Mi 9 looks great on paper but still mono speaker and early reviews say it's laggy.
