Need a broken Mogul - Mogul, XV6800 General

Hi there.
I'm looking for a spare htc mogul if anyone has one lying around. Mine works fully except the charge port is broken so it will not charge. I want another mogul so that I can use it just as an external charger to charge my phone's battery. I dont care if it is broken just as long as the charger works (screen cracks etc. are ok). Let me know, if you have a Paypal account I can send shipping money. Or if you are in the Seattle area we can meet up.
Thanks!

I've got you covered E-mail in PM

Hello, have you found one yet? I have a desktop cradle if you'd like, it will charge a phone and spare batt. @ same time.

XDA II charge or not to charge

Having major issues with my 3 month old XDA.
1. Will charge when using the home charger
2. Will charge when using cradel connected to 1 of my 2 PC's
3. Will not charge when using cradel connecting to my other PC
4. Will not charge when using cradel connecting to my MAC
5. Will charge when using cradel connecting to my PC Laptop
6. Will not charge when using the O2 supplied car charger
In every case the phone thinks it is charging i.e. the green charging light comes on and if you go to the battery control panel, it even says "charging".
XDA repair centre have had it for 2 weeks, flashed the rom and returned it. Still doing it.
Have demanded a new phone form onestopphoneshop.com who have refused due to it being more than 28days old although it has done this from new.
Aaarrrrgggghhhh!!!!!!
Can anyone help?
Have you tried another battery?
Since the hardware 'logic' seems to be doing something (light goes on, software gets charging signals) the chances are the battery is faulty . . .
Why some chargers do work and others dont: Could be the charging current that is higher on chargers (incl USB port of one of your pc's) that make this battery charge.
Battery...could be I suppose, but I have been digging further into this and have found the following.....suspicious!

Hello,
I have a very similar problem to that described in the website you listed.
My phone works fine with its supplied cradle and charger, and charges fine with my work and home PC's, with only the USB cable plugged in.
I bought a charger/ sync cable off the web hoping to not have to carry my cradle home each day and it causes huge problems.
First off it doesn't sync at all - but does cause problems with activesync giving me error messages once it is unplugged saying 'Can't access COM1'
Worst of all though it turns the LED to orange for charging, and when you go to the battery screen it says charging, but instead it actually discharges the battery! This is also the case when I use the cable with the wall socket plugged in.
Just spoke to XDA Repair centre, they have done a total cop out and said that they do not support anything that does not come in the box!!!! That means my car and my computers!!!

Have just bought a new 1400mah battery, will be here in a couple of days, will keep you posted.
I have found that the battery will charge if the xda 2 is about 70% full but lower than this and it will discharge the battery via usb.

Just want to make sure, is it 1400 mAh? because the standard one in the imate (xda2) is 1200 mAh.

It is indeed a 1460 battery to be precise, I have been told that they are very rare, think they are the ones that are going in the new XDA II i, s, III or what ever it is going to be called.
It should last 25% longer, cost £25GBP. Will let you know how I get on with it on Monday after a weekend of testing.
Back to the charging problem, do you others who have the same charging problem all use the O2 supplied USB cradel. Is there anyone else using an alternative charge and sync cable that works better???
Just a thought.
I have been told more by the XDA repair centre. It seems that the output through various USB ports vary in ampage, surely some sort of regulation should be made into the cradels/chargers???
not sure if this is relevant but
if one does not connect the power connecter to the cradle
then the xda will be forced to charge using usb
and some motherboard have issues giving enough stable power
more so if you have connected more then one usb device
to ports which share the max 500mA that usb can give
also not all motherboard can charge over usb when
the pc is off it all comes down to if usb is powered with vsb+ 5v
some motherboards have jumpers to control this
canaero - Where did you buy the battery from? Is it exactly the same size, or is it slightly thicker?
I have ordered a mini-sync charge cable from boxware in the states; on their website, it says it is compatible with my ORange SPV M1000, but we'll see when it gets here.

Well, I am using the cradle and I do not connect it to the power supply, here it goes, it takes a lot of time to charge my imate (xda2) if it is connected to my notebook, while it takes about less than an hour to charge the imate if the cradle is connected to my PC!!

That's really good price and I guess the battery performance should be better, I heared the xda3, or xdaIIi or whatever (the new model), the battery power is 1490mAh. Please let us know your experience with the new battery.
The new battery has just arrived and I am charging it now. It says 1400 on the front plus a made in china sticker on it.
I got if off ebay from SIANS Mobiles spares and repair Tel: 07743 787858 or www.siansmobiles.co.uk
Good luck
IT WONT CHARGE!!!
just a quick one, i arrange for around 60 XDA's to be used in my company and i can tell you that not one of them will charge in any of our company vehicals or charge via the cradle.

Yikkkes, O2 must listen to you as you have bought so many, say you will send them all back and cancel the contract and see them squirm. Let me know what the outcome is, because leagaly you can send them back and get our of your contract under 'not fit for purpose'. Do it around the time of the new XDA, who knows!!!!
There really is an answer to this somewhere, I have bought this new high capacity battery and it is still not charging when it says it is. I am off to the Microsoft site to see if I can get them to point the finger and the XDA.
Used the new 1400mah battery all weekend, performed very well considering I used it as a sat nav for 6 hours on Saturday continuously with the backlight on for all of those 6 hours.

Beware Everyone !! Brando Cradle !!

I bought a Cradle for my TyTn II from Brando Web site. they are located in Hong Kong. I have been dealing with them since 2000.
they usually provide good service.
However this charger did not work, AC or USB part. I emailed them and they were kind to send me a replacement in 1 week.
Again still not charging or connecting to my computer. I skipped the cradle and tried the USB cable only still not working.
I emailed them back and they want me to ship both units back to them. I understand that there is a problem with certain connections charging or connecting with Kaiser an I tried to tell them that; I don't think they believe me.
Do Not Order this Cradle since it will not work !!

Uh thanks for the warning, I almost bought the same thing.

Stupid question, but does your Kaiser connect to your computer with ANY USB cable? I'm using a cradle (from Talkietech.com) which looks identical to that one with no problems at all. Works with both a USB connection (though I re-used an existing cable) and just with the wall power plug.
If the provided USB cable isn't working, try one which you know works....
Richard
It's not only the USB cable but also the charger included.
any other USB cable works on my computer though.
Brando contacted me again yesterday they will send me a third unit. I will post once I get the third unit.
cheers.
Also returned one of these for same reason
I returned one for replacement because the led lamp was blinking like crazy. The replacement connects to my usb alright but I have not done any extensive testing of the charging performance.
Inserting the phone is also fibbly because the slot is so wide, you need to take aim and align phone before inserting. This is a real bother. Do not buy it
I bought a Boxwave cradle for a 8525 and it's light blinked and failed within hours, I returned it.

I think all these cradles (Kigidi, mobile planet, Brando) are all from the original manufacturer. They do work, but not out of the box. You have to shift the battery around left to right while inserting them to have the contacts line up properly. Cheap quality.
I bought a cradle that looks exactly like that one off eBay. But it came with a second battery for Brando's price for just the cradle alone. I've been using mine for a little over a month, and am very happy with it. The USB cable only serves for charging and connecting to a pc. To charge the second battery in the charger 'tray', the AC power adapter must be plugged in as well.
Mine also has the tricky alignment issue when inserting the kaiser, but I'm used to it. Also because of the position of the kaiser's stylus, there's no access when cradled, so I rigged a mount on the side of the cradle for a spare stylus.
Hands down the best thing about my cradle is the charger tray and second battery. It's so nice to have a fully charged battery available at any time for a quick swap. The battery that was included is only 1300 mAh, opposed to the stock 1350 mAh battery, but it fits perfectly, and I I don't find the 50 mAh difference noticeable. And considering the $24 price tag fI paid for battery and dock, it seems a steal. At this point there's no way I'm going to shell out $50 for the 1650 mAh batteries now available, but If I din't have the dock and second battery I probably would have.
I see that the pricing is up $5, still a deal:

brando.com shipping
This is unrelated to the topic, but I was going to order from Brando.com and was wondering how long the shipping took. It says 7-20 business days, and I was hoping it would be on the shorter end of that. (shipping to PA)
Almost every charger didnt work with my TyTn II (after I burnt up mine original one on UPS). I just went to market, looked for highest wattage supplying adapter and it was LG's 5.2Volt 5W adapter. And it recharges my TyTn II like a charm. There is something bad with recharging TyTn II.
The old motorola charger and such going-around-boozo's worked with my Vox and Excalibur but not this beast.
Interesting
i have had one of these for over 2 years. its on my desk at work. the original mains adapter packed up a long time ago and i have an old tandy one attached now. does have the random blinking lights with phone and spare battery connected, but it works.
as said before, cheap design but very handy to charge phone and battery together.
just have to be a bit lucky when you buy i guess.
despite title, i would say buy.
@dark_prince: could be the charging socket in the phone is wearing and needs bit more power to kick it in. have you tried to clean inside socket with compressed air and contact cleaner, might help.
but maybe we just have to accept that our phones are really old now and dont work as well as they used to (i know the feeling)

[Q] HTC Touch HD T8282 can't turn on or charge

I am facing a problem with my SmartPhone HTC Touch hd T8282, I had it working with no problem, everything was just great about it. Suddenly today when i went out i picked it out of my pocket and i saw it was off, since than it did not turn on at all, there is no sign of charging when i plug it to the power.
Please help me on this.
If you can't still charge your phone, buy a universal lithium battery charger similar to this one:
http://www.bestofferbuy.com/universal-cell-phone-lithium-battery-charger-with-usb-power-port-ac-110v240v-p-26225.html?SSAID=389818&utm_source=shareasale&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_campaign=affiliate1
When you receive the charger, you will need to adjust the two posts so they make contact with your battery's terminal contact points. Connectivity will be indicated by the tell-tale lights coming on green. This universal lithium charger can be used via a USB connection or alternating current (a/c). I'd recommend using a/c.
These chargers cost less than 2.60 USD either at this Chinese vendor or on eBay. I have three of them (one in the office; one at home and another in my travel bag). They work great!!!

Using the Battery power points? (USB has broken)

Any ideas on the pinout for the 3 pads on tha back of the phone, my micro usb has busted, and I need it powered up.
Cheers in advance
+1
My usb isn't completely broken, I can still transfer files if I hold the cable end in a funky position, but it's useless for charging. But I feel like I could whip up a charge-only port on the back if I knew which contact did what.
Maybe some info from car cradle or powermat users?
Those are the only 2 devices which use the 3 contacts right by the battery, as far as I know
Hmm, I cant fathom it, surely sumone knows what the three contacts are?

I did, months ago.
But if I knew for sure what voltage/polarity to put to which contacts, I wouldn't have to pull my battery out to swap it with the one in the charger every day. I don't like being at risk of bending my battery pins all the time, or worse yet, stressing them and having one break off.
The external charger works great and all, but I need a charge cable. And the powermat is out of the question for me, how does my phone lay on the mat and charge when it is usually in my hand? I'm not gonna waste my money on something so impractical, especially since I'll have a charger and port set up an hour after I see which contact needs what volt/pol.
Could somebody with the car dock please put a DVOM (digital volt/ohm meter) to the battery contacts of the dock and see what contact is +/- and what voltage?
Thanks for any help anyone here can give.
Bump... cant find a pinout for the 3 contacts anywhere. Can somebody help by testing the voltage/polarity on the powermat battery/cover contacts?
-HD2 Android-
Ive been trying to figure this out forever. The orginal dock it the only thing that used them. No other dock or powermat does. Unfortunately the dock never made it to the consumer and there were only a few out to some sites early. Working on getting he right person at HTC or finding someone who has the phone apart and can trace them out.

[Q] broken micro usb port (direct charging)

hi,
well i managed to snap my charging port inside my hd2 and well, i get nothing when my charger/usb plugged in... im wondering about directly charging the battery whilst being able to use the phone at the same time... ie having the charger contacts on the phone and battery at the same time... wondering if this is possible as i dont want to damage the battery/device...
also what would i need to hook to each contact? i know positive n negative poles but is what the middle contact??
any help with this would b much aprieciated... thanks
luke
p.s i couldnt see anything that would help me in the other forums i looked at
Yuor best bet is to buy a 2nd battery and a battery charger from ebay then use 1 battery whilst the other charges.
Its not to expensive to repair, if thats the only fault
i see ur from england too so do u know any cheap places that can repair this fault? links if possible... thanks
any joy? I found the following two websites but am now weighing up my options.
htcphonerepairs.co.uk/HTC-HD-2/Charger-Port-HD2.html
simtekworld.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=529
I have a similar problem. Don't know how or why but for some reason it suddenly stopped charging on Friday night. £50 to get it fixed is a bit excessive.
I wonder if a battery charger might be a better option?
EDIT: the answer to my own question (so far, at least) is "YES". Bought a cheap charger and battery off ebay and both are working well (touch wood). It's a pain in the butt having to change battery and not being able to charge it in my car but it's also quite useful having 2 batteries.
