music player + opera 10 = lag/crash!! - HD2 General

I've just realized a big problem with opera 10.
Indeed, if I surf the web using opera 10 while listening to the music using the HTC music player, music lags and, in the worst case, the telephone crashes.
This problem doesn't happen if I use opera 9.7 in the place of opera 10.
Do anyone has the same problem?

hi,i notice this on my HD2 too. When i'm using the HTC music player and open Opera 10 sometimes the music stops for 2-3 seconds and some kind of lag appears in the browser. This happened to me only a few times and never to the point of a system crash.Maybe you have more apps in background.I'm using the last version of Touch Extreme rom if it helps you.
With Windows media player the problem not happen.Pd:excuse me for my bad English,i'm a spanish user.Regards.

Testing................. No lag for me, everything works fine.

Maybe the problem it's 3g related. In my case the hiccup occurrs surfing one heavy website and when the 3g connection turns to GPRS.When the website was completely load the music player worked fine and it only happened on more time under the same circunstances. For me it's ok.

Which ROM do you use?
I use Michy's 1.2, based on windows mobile 6.5.x
I've just done another experiment; I have the lag problem when heavily scrolling the page. The problem occurs even when the internet page is completely loaded, even when using wifi, so I don' think it is 3g related..

Is there anyone with this problem?

Hi!
I got Music player crash for ~2 secondes too , i did not try Opera.
And this crash is very often.
Rooted G1 UK
CyanogenMod 4.2.15.1

my HD2 crashes with opera 10 + music player
My HD2 freezes when i'm listening to music and when i'm surfing with Opera 10. Can't figure out why, i hardreset a couple of times. Don't have much apps.
Every time it gets stuck and then it reboots. Pretty annoying!
I use
Dutty creme de la creme V5 NLD
radio: 2.12.50.02_02
little note:
Got the same thing with Android marc 1.5
I just tried flashing another rom (artemis) same problem, maybe HPL or radio bug?

After loving Opera 10 for a while, I've gone back to 9.7 due to the random crashes.
If it is set to full screen, when minimised and then maximised, the start bar (including all the network, battery icons) disappear, leaving a black bar.
If it is in landscape and the screen switches off, the phone locks up or freezes for a few moments only to have the phone stuck in landscape.
If I use 9.7, I don't have any of these issues.

I don't want to switch back to 9.7

Music will pause/skip for me when I browse heavy websites (eg: Engadget, Kotaku, pocketnow) in Opera 9.7.
I've been putting it down to Opera being too much of a CPU-hog; when it's busy rendering the page or doing javascript, I suspect it uses up 100%, starving the music app (the sense music player in my case) of CPU time.

Same problem here
I am listening HTC player and browsing in landscape in Opera 10 pretty often, and when I touch accidetly back(<-) HW button, middle of the screen freezes, on the bottom and top are black bars, bottom menu is changing when i press MS button, but nothing else. I can't even turn it off, I have to pull out battery. I never noticed it with 1.66 ROM, but now I am on Duttys Redemption.
Probably the reason is some ROM tweek in register which has these consequencies.
It is pretty anoying. Since then I am extra carefull when I am browsing

I'm getting a weird error with the music player also, for some reason it only plays the first 10-15 seconds of the song and then nothing. I have to fast forward for it to play another 10-15 seconds.
Don't recall changing any settings on the phone, using a stock tmo hd h2

something wrong with HTC music and surfing?
What i tried:
ROM Dutty's Creme de la creme V5 NLD
radio: 2.12.50.20_02
Playing music with HTC music and surfing with opera 10 = HD2 crash
Playing music with HTC music and surfing with Opera 9.7 = HD2 crash
Playing music with HTC music and surfing with internet explorer 10 = HD2 crash
Rom dutty's creme de la creme V5 NLD
Radio: 2.10.50.26
Playing music with HTC music and surfing with opera 10 = HD2 crash
Playing music with HTC music and surfing with Opera 9.7 = HD2 crash
Playing music with HTC music and surfing with internet explorer = HD2 crash
Rom Artemis V28.0 NLD
radio: 2.12.50.20_02
Playing music with HTC music and surfing with opera 10 = HD2 crash
What should ik do? What is the f*ck problem with my HD2?
Also upgrade HSPL from 2 to 3, nothing works.

Backlight off corrupts musicplayback????

Diamond2 of course, with WM6.5 (official HTC Rom)
I have four audio-players on the phone
Windows Media
HTC Sense player (frontend for WMedia)
S2P (I believe that this is also a front-end for WMedia)
Nitrogen (I think that this is totally stand-alone?)
The only player that is not affected by this bug is of course WindowsMedia, which I really don't like to use. The others are so much more userfriendly (and cool).
When the backlight turns off (either automatic, or because I turn it off), playback will continue for approx. 10 secs, then stop. When I use the power-button to turn light back on, sometimes the player is simply just frozen - other times playback continues, but it's mangled - it's like there are two playing processes competing for the same space (the sound audibly doubled and there are strange pops and eeks and noises).
Sometimes I am able to close the player, but the whole system has become unstable and won't launch the majority of apps I have, never mind the player it self - launching that will give me an eternal view of the spinner and a frozen WM6.5 - hard reset is the only option
I have spent hours upon hours getting my phone just right - and I haven't installed anything that I didn't install when the phone was WM6.1 - I'd HATE to have to flash the ROM again.
I've searched these forums for a post describing this, but no luck.
Anybody out there have an idea?
Could it possibly be something to do with the memory card and card power management? If you put some tracks in internal storage, does it work properly?
I had the same problem as yours when i used any rom with win6.5
Now i'm using tess 2F rom and every thing is fine
any other Rom keeps getting me the same problem
I don't know why, but i'm waitng for the official W6.5 for the MEA to launch then i will investigate this issue deeper
Maybe my SD (lexer) try using another one maybe it could help
If you get any solution for this problem Plz PM me

Why hs there still audio stutter during youtube?

Hi
I have had my HD2 for 1 week now. I have noticed that when I have my Wifi connetion and am watching a youtube video, there is still stutter which continues until the video has fully streamed. This is exactly the same problem I had with the touch HD and this lingered until I changed to Duttys 6.5 ROM and then corrected. How do I stop this and will I have to wait for a custom ROM to develop? I find it strang that HTC hae allowed this to hapen twice.
Thanks
I havent noticed any problems with youtube on wifi or 3g. You tried enabling wireless n? ormade sure you dont have like 20 apps open in the background?
Yes, I did no 39 on hints and tweaks.
I get this problem all the time too, especially with windows media player. Even when I am on the tube and its in airoplane mode with 1 or 2 small programs running.

General Stability- What is your experience?

What is your general experience regarding stability with the T-Mobile hd2?
Mine so far has been lack luster. I love the phone, I just wish it was actually stable. My experience thus far has been-
Hangs at lock screen about 2-3 times per day
Texting occasionally lags heavily..
Music app has frozen once
1-2 times per day won't respond after returning lock mode, requires reset.
All the problems I have can be resolved by turning it off and on. So far, I've found myself resetting the phone 4-5 times per day. Anyone having the same experience? Any tips? It's been frustrating. Such an awesome phone, but sometimes it just locks up for no reason and I can't even make a phone call.

I've found it pretty stable. I have no problems... just as stable, if not more, than any of my previous WM devices. It'll lock up occasionally when I'm experiment with certain apps or settings, but never on normal usage.
Before I flashed to a custom ROM I had all kinds of problems with the phone. It was laggy and was almost unusable. After flashing to a custom ROM all those problems went away. Now I haven't had any problems with the phone and it is very stable now. I would recommend you flashing to a custom ROM if you haven't done so already.
Coming from an HD, I have been using custom ROMs for over a year. However, I haven't yet flashed a custom ROM on my HD2 simply because I have yet to find any problem with the stock ROM (mainly since it's completely up to date and the cooks are using it as their base). So far, I've had only one...maybe two freezes. I'll definitely start flashing custom ROMs once there's an update to manila, but till then, I'll prolly stick with this one (or until i get bored).
(Also, I am a very heavy user, so I'm pleased with just one freeze a week.)
Using stock rom, occasionally using Task Manager to kill something that's sucking CPU, but otherwise very stable. Only hit sleep-of-death twice so far, and rebooted only couple times to fix extreme lag from something unkillable and hidden.
Using my own 8GB SDHC class 6 (instead of crappy 16GB class 2) to cut down battery drain, and using only external GPS. Lots of registry tweaks to turn on power-management, and using BsB Tweaks.
Besides Opera 10 constantly screwing up virtual, runs mostly fine with Garmin Mobile XT, Google Maps, iGo8, Navizon (wow!).
No Problems, What a fine piece of Hardware.

Hello all,
I have had great stability out of this phone thus far. Only problem I had was a cab that I installed gummed things up for a while, uninstalled it and soft reset and all was good again.
Like any phone, if your going to tweak it or install cabs, do one at a time. Then test the results. See how it effects your phone.
Most of the complaints you hear are unfortunately from people that really don't know what their doing or dont do the research before doing stuff and just dive in installing everything they can get there hands on, and then the end up complaining in the end, giving a phone a bad rap.
Just my 2 "Sense".

Bing shuts down and sometimes crashes with stock T-Mobile USA HD2 Rom.

I've googled this problem an no one else seems to have it. I'm presently running the stock T-Mobile HD2 ROM (2.10.531.1) and have downloaded the Bing application directly from the Windows Marketplace. When I'm using Bing for navigation it sometimes crashes (rarely) but mostly just shuts down (always). I immediately go in to task manager and see that Bing has shut off completely for no apparent reason. I don't really want to flash a new ROM right now because I misplaced my unlock code and am still stuck with at&t. I suspect it may be a problem with the ROM, but really have no idea what's causing the problem. No other programs display this behavior and I have no problems whatsoever with the phone or OS. Any insight into this problem anyone? Thanks in advance.
I'm on a stock 2.13 ROM and Bing does crash/close on me occasionally. It's inconvenient when it does, because you have to start it up, choose your last destination, etc.
Try uninstalling the app and then reinstalling it again.
@p_synthesis
Thanks for the response. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the application a few times through a Bing cab that was floating at XDA and have also done the same with the Bing app directly from the marketplace and I get the same problems. I have also installed on the storage card and on the internal memory, and still the same problem. Well at least I know I'm not the only one with the problem. This is a fairly major problem as it causes a major inconvenience when using the navigation.
Yeah, mine is doing the same thing, HD2 is stock except for cookies. Although, strangely I was using the navigation today for couple of hours and it didn't crash once. Sometimes seems to get hung up when losing signal momentarily at the same time it needs to do a reroute, although in that instance the app locks up but doesn't disappear. I've only had bing navigation for a few days but as long as doesn't crash too often, and Microsoft puts a little more time into this app to polish it up a little it will be something handy to have. Things they can add to Bing I would like would be to display the current speed with the posted speed limit, options on font sizes, and API to allow other meta data to be displayed if available (speed traps etc). However, I think when Google gets around to adding navi to the WM platform they will have the product to beat. I have a Garmin Nuvi now which I pretty much utterly despise hence I will be using my HD2 for navigation for the time being using Bing. I definitely need to get a adapter for car use though as the HD2 really sucks down the power, even more when the GPS is active.
Problems with Bing turn by turn with voice navigation.
Don't feel bad. Bing has died on me regularly while using voice turn by turn directions on both the stock rom and on elegencia......my theory is it's getting to areas of no net signal, panics and the program exits...would seem to me the stupid program could cache the whole trips from the beginning or at least give a friggin beep when it's gonna die and offer to "resume" from where it left off on restart. Sometimes I give up and just have it print me the directions....been eyeing google maps more and more.
Bing shuts down on HD2.
Thanks for your replies gentlemen. Thing is I never had this problem on my HTC Touch Pro. I was running an NRG WM 6.5 ROM on that Touch Pro and never encountered one single problem with Bing, whether it was a 5 min route or 200+ road trip. I find it amazing that such a popular/useful app on the Windows Marketplace is so glitchy with such an important and popular device. BTW I too have Cookies Home Tab, but I shut down Sense and run SPB Mobile Shell and still have problems with Bing. I will flash to an NRG ROM in two weeks, and will report then.
i have been having the same problem on my tilt 2. the only time i have been able to get it to work is when i have a stock rom or close to stock. if its a rom that can recognize my phone as a tilt 2 bing navigation always works great. i can never get it to work on energy roms : ( m.bing.com wont even load right on energy roms cause the site cant tell what phone im using. drives me crazy cause i love the energy roms but i really want to use bing!
I have been having the same problem as well. Closes after about 10-30 seconds of navigation. Stock rom with tmobile HD2.
Uninstalling and reinstalling bing fixed it for a day, now nothing I can do fixes it.
Been using waze as a secondary, but I would love to find a fix for this.
Bing gets update, maybe fixes crashes?
I just installed the latest version of Bing which can be found at this link (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...ce-cadd-4c37-b3a6-14b7d72626f0&displayLang=en). I haven't had a chance to test the navigation because I'm at the office, but everything else runs very smooth even after toying around with it for about 5 minutes (previous version stalled or shut down on my HD2).
I've only been using the latest version for a very short time, but so far it seems to be much better. I used to get a crash basically every time I used the turn by turn. I was using it quite a bit today, and not one crash. Hopefully that will continue. I'd definitely recommend updating to the latest version if you haven't already. Can't find anything new in the latest version though. Anyone find a change log?
Peace
Dan
Crashes on latest Bing update
Hate to report that on my way back from home Bing crashed during navigation on the latest update. It was fine for about 15 minutes, then the screen froze and I couldn't exit the application. I had to perform a soft reset. This is really frustrating and only reinforces my hatred towards Microsoft for releasing such buggy ****.
I've noticed this too, however, for me it seems to only happen when the phone becomes hot. As soon as the phone cools down it works fine for me. If you have AC in your car hold it in front of the air vent for about 30 seconds and soft reset and it will work fine. As long as it is kept cool it wont shut down.
Also try using navigation without plugging the phone into a car charger as it seems to generate a lot of internal heat while charging. Besides you should get 2-3 hours of navigation if you start with a full charge and that should be more then adequate for most trips.
I don't know why it shuts down automatically but this seems to work for me
Alternatives.
I haven't tested extensively but the Dutty N4S Legacy HD2 ROMS seem very stable with Bing. Here's the link (http://htcpedia.com/htc_dutty_legacy/reviews/rom-builds.html). Or you can try an Android build and use Google Maps navigation, also extremely stable and a pleasure to use and explore. Here's the link (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=787189).
I have the same problems with both bing and google map, the phone reboot itself after about 10-15 minutes of navigation, I have latest stock ROM with original SPL, OS: 5.2.21913, Radio 2.15.50.14. I have no additional application installed.
I believe this hardware issue since i know many people has the same annoying problem.
HD2, T-Mobile, USA

Music in background = lag?

When playing music the phone starts to lag, sometimes even scrolling throw homescreens isnt smooth, games are running 2 times slower than normally, poweramp or stock htc player - almost no difference, lag remains, wtf? Is it known android bug?
btw, i am on official 2.2.1 rom, so i cant try any other roms yet
