Call Recording - Time to beat commercial apps.

Guys, I have tried all the solutions for call recording be it Vito Audio Notes, Resco Audio Recorder, LivePVR but no one works fine. They aren't able to record the other party voice unless on speakerphone. So, I thought why not beat those commercial apps and develop a better free solution. Unfortunetly, I dont know much programming, But I know who can do this, yes its you xda-developers. So, gear up to be superior as ever.

Please follow my articles - in them, I've discussed this problem a lot. You will NOT be able to record the other party. Sorry, it's a hardware (or at least API) restriction.
You could use a pc mic next to your ear and record it to a pc. But you have to have a pc nearby.
Here is an imaginative workaround:
Is it possible to redirect from speaker phone to a bluetooth headset?
Something like this:
http://www.freewareppc.com/communication/bluetoothaudio.shtml
Or search "BT Toggle", I am sure there is something like that in modaco.com
Then modify the tool to "capture" + "redirect" to BT

The TeekSoft(?) folks behind many cool utilities have tried this VERY hard - without any success. That is, it's too impossible.

I use pm recorder on my tytn...works flawlessly. However it does not record the other party when using a bluetooth headset and you do not have to have the phone on speaker mode to record the other party.

The lack of BT recording means it's still the mike that is picking up the voice of the other party and there's no direct access to it. That is, the results are inevitably far worse than direct access.
hmmm, i can't make PMRecorder work on my Kaiser, the recordings are empty, not even my voice is in them......

give a try to other recorders. (BTW, AFAIK the Kaiser isn't able to record the other party either, so, it's pretty much useless to even give it a try.)

AGEphone Mobile with internal Speaker VoIP for the Touch HD!

We recently confirmed (thanks to kdomo!) that you can use the internal speaker for VoIP calls on your Touch HD. AGEphone Mobile the only softphone that supports this on the WM platform! Please take a look at my signature and this thread for more information
I tried it, but just the external speaker is working.
Any idea?
The log is in the attachment.
Thx
Is it possible to use bluetooth headset using this VOIP client?
I have not bluetooth headset but the option exists.
With headphone working nice.
is possible.. but only the "Bluetooth Advanced Audio" Profile.. this results in: you can hear voice over the Headset, but the phone grab your voice.. There is no option to using the Mono-Headset Profile.

Out of our FAQ:
2. Does AGEphone support Bluetooth headsets?
There is no official support for Bluetooth Headsets yet, but you can make most of them work with AGEphone Mobile using a little hack. There is no need to change the audio device in the settings for this at the moment. You only have to use a little tool called "BTAudioToggle.exe". For further information about this utility please refer to this thread. The package you can download there contains "BTAudioOn.exe" / "BTAudioOff.exe", but using "BTAudioToggle.exe" does the job just fine.
Once you have downloaded the utility, please go to "Settings - Other" and enter the path to the "BTAudioToggle.exe" file there under "Execute on Connect" and "Execute on Disc." without any further parameters. If your BT headset is paired properly with your phone AGEphone Mobile will automatically switch output and input to the device whenever you accept a call. It's probably of note that "BTAudioToggle.exe" only works with the Microsoft Bluetooth Stack.
Hi Falk,
I switched on the "Switch Speakers during Call" function.
So the internal speaker is working very well!
The log file is in the attachment, I am waiting for the free serial number.
THANK YOU
Good to hear that it works using the internal speaker! I have just sent you your key and hope that AGEphone Mobile will be of good use for you. As for everyone else, please enjoy the only WM VoIP software that supports the earphone

So, you only have to check the "Switch Speakers during call" option in order to use the embedded earpiece, and could make call without any echo heard by the other party?
Yes, that's exactly how it works! The echo may or may not be completely eliminated depending on the phone model. There's also no leap of faith here though as we have a fully functional (call time limited) trial version available on our download page. Just take a look at my signature for more info.

I'm already your existing customer, and love this product. I tested it a few months back and did'nt take me long to know that this is what I have been looking for.
Just noticed that I'm still on 2.62, and the latest is 2.7. My license key will still work, right?
There is no echo. My opinion the quality of sound is excellent.

It will always have echo if you use the external speaker. This is because the voice of the person you call will loop back to the microphone. At present, with my Athena, which only has external speaker and no embedded earpiece, I have to use wired headset to prevent this echo.
With embedded earpiece, I expect that echo, if any, would be extremely minimal. My guess is, if it happens, we could minimise or eliminate it by adjusting the volume so that the microphone will not pick up the voice from the embedded earpiece.

It will, no worries! So far all keys from 1.X onwards are still valid and we have no immediate plans to change that. If we ever decide to give out new keys you will see a notice on the page and in the main thread here on XDA-Dev.

We're happy to hear that as on some models there will be a minimal echo because AGEphone doesn't support any accoustic echo cancellation (read below if you're interested in the background). eaglesteve is right when he says that this echo can usually be managed by simply lowering the call volume a bit. Which is a good keyword: We have experienced very low call volumes on some devices, ROMs when the speakerswitch is option is enabled. Please let us know if that is the case for anyone here.
-------------------------
Background: The normal phone application usually is heavily optimized for the model it's used on. There are companies that make a living by selling sophisticated accoustic echo cancellation solutions. Most more generic solutions simply use too much processing power and thus a lot of older devices can't make any use of them. That's why we decided to go with the speaker switching as it seems to be a decent compromise between usability and cost (time, money, CPU resources).
Falk,
Is there any possibility of recording the phone conversation into voice files?
Right now you can only set this on a general basis in "3. Audio (page 2) - Record Calls". We plan on making this option available in the main GUI on a per case basis later on.

Yes, there is: Please go to to Menu - Settings - Audio (page 2) and select the according option. For now there is no way to turn on and off the recording on a per call basis, but we plan to improve that in a future version. For a complete reference of AGEphone Mobile's options please refer to the manual.

I dowloaded the 2.71 version from AGEphone website.

In - Call Recording

Hello everyone - Can someone who has an HD test out the incall recording software and perhaps post an audio file.
This is a key feature that I'm looking for as my nokia currently has this feature.
And no, it's necessary for my career, i'm not a pervert who goes around recording conversations for kicks
Discussed here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=442220
Lucas - thanks for the link to hte other thread...
however, what i'm trying to establish is whether the HD allows for in call recording without the use of speakerphone.
Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance.
Sorry, thought this was clear from my other posts - no possible on HTC devices.
sorry, but i can't agree with that opionion. Some time ago i've got Asus P750 and it was possible to record conversations without turning on speakerphone.
Ok, edited my post, selected non-HTC devices supported it in the past, but no current HTC ones. End of story.

Surur is correct - Like hte HTC Advantage, the hardware is slightly different on the touch HD allowing software access to both earpiece and outgoing mic audio. Therefore, one can record conversations without hte use of the speakerphone.
I just need to establish what the quality is like of the recording and what featrues are built into the software.
someone who has the device please assist! thanks in advance.

I purchased the latest Resco Audio Recorder and use it on my Eten x500. It has a feature which records all your calls. No beeps etc... And you can customize it so that you can use different audio formats and sound quality. It works fantastic!
Please, please somebody test this on HTC Touch HD
I'll test it tommorow. My HD is going to me
I'm also interested in calls recording.

Tried audionotes. Failed. Other party is not recorded.
so what exactly then does the in call recording feature do? Anyone have any more insight into this issue?
Now that investor Mark Cuban has a major insider trading case in the U.S. centered around a phone conversation, maybe a call recording software for WinMobile and other systems would come in handy. This one records speaker output and your input - speaker output is ok but not great - but hey, sometimes you might wish you had at least a audible recording - a wav file that could be enhanced later. Works on HD. http://dontknowme.at/http://www.nch.com.au/trx/index.html

It is a software that automatically fires up itself whenever a call is connected, and it records your phone conversation, so that you don't need to take down notes on a piece of paper. It creats audio files that you can go back to listen to, and serves as a record or proof of your conversation with the other party.
Well, at least there is the last resort of turning on the speaker phone. Audio Note will surely work if you do that.
But I hope we can find something that can record when the embedded earpiece is used.
Should clarify that with the Trx offering other party is audible without turning on the speaker.
Does anybody have a program "In Call Recording" in HD? Look at http://www.theunwired.net/?item=videoview-hands-on-with-the-htc-touch-hd-windows-mobile-smartphone time 11:50, ICR icon. Thank you.
just letting you know that I use Audio Notes Touch for this (on my Omnia) - works superbly
- no need to be on speakerphone mode
- can record calls automtically even when Audio Notes Touch is not open
- AVLS
- can be used as a notetaker/sound-recorded

Call recording - does Touch HD's hardware allow?

As title really.
I've done a search on the forum and it seems there is software available that will record calls, but this will only work if the hardware itself supports it. Does anyone know if the Touch HD will work with any software to support call recording?
The other work around I discovered doing a search on the forum was to put the phone into speakerphone mode and use call recording software, but this is obviously not ideal.
So, what's the best way to record calls on the Touch HD?
Thanks

You got it in one. Thats currently the only way.
Not quite
Resco Audio recorder works fine for me, once configured it collects all calls as mp3's in a folder of your choice (e.g. on sd).
it's not freeware though, but no speaker needed.
Not technically sure about the Blackstone, but I have both a Polaris and Raphael. I've seen comments about both of those phones being unable to record, yet I've never had a problem recording with VITO Audio Notes (without using the speakerphone trick). It's also a commercial product. If both of those phones can do it, I would suspect the Blackstone is probably also capable.

@speed_pour,
Please can you explaine the speakerphone trick, I also use vito audio notes! Today I see this trick, without using the speakerphone, for the second time also in this post, but I have no idea how it works!
I can only record both voices when I activate speakerphone in settings, if I don't, I only can record my own voice during a call????!!!!!
Thanks in advance!

Don't know what to tell you, I just made a call 5 minutes ago on that phone, and without turning on the speakerphone it's still got both voices on there. The other side's voice is much lower volume, but it can't be sound bleeding over because it also works when I'm using a bluetooth headset.

Always use speaker

This must be in there somewhere! How do you configure the D2 to always use the speaker? When I've got the D2 in the cradle on my car dashboard, I want to be able to answer a) by tapping the entire screen (none of this sliding malarkey when driving!) and b) always use the speaker as this is perfectly adequate for a converstation.
Cheers, Rob.
PS. WM6.5 and CoPilot is often running.
Hi!
I would like to ask if you had any luck in finding a solution to this problem. I'm also very intrested in answering calls with loudspeaker turned-on by default. It is so frustrating (and dangerous) to manipulate with D2 when driving just because we need to tap something to turn the loudspeaker.
Regards,
Nol
Try searching for Touch Incall Screen Tweak, it should solve the problem with the speaker.
It seems that after some additional research I may have found a solution (need to test it, though). Here's the link for the future auto-speaker function seekers:
err... I don't have rights to post links (lol), so others should look for thread Id: 521987, "OldSAP Speakerphone" by THEMADSURFER, and
for "Auto Answer Auto Speakerphone - myCar Profile" - this should do the trick.
