Hello there,
I use Opera Browser on my hd2 but i am tired of this..the pictures while browsing is too low quality i think because of opera turbocan i disable this annoying thing or i cant? i want better quality pictures
ps sorry for my bad english
Are you on t-mobile by any chance?
Because if that's the case then that's how it is, their servers compress pictures to a ridiculous extent to make browsing faster (save money), there's nothing that can be done about it

In the opera address bar type "opera:config". Either quicksearch "turbo" or click on User Pref and scroll down to turbo mode. verify that it is unchecked. I assume you are using opera 9.7.

You can turn off turbo in the settigns...
Read the post above to disable turbo. If it doesn't help, or is already off, then your network does the same as TMobile.
opera
any of you have the same problem as me?

So I'm here.. trying to compare the different new WM6.1 ROM's in different tabs..
and my browser keeps pretty much slowing to a crawl or freezing up on me..
I think it's this stupid 'Toyota Corolla' flash advertisement!! GRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stupid Car!!!!
I just got the car and Im happy with it. Just because of your slow browser, dont complain. Have you tried FirFox browser? If yes, then there is an add-on called AdBlock Plus which can block unwanted ads
Regards,
Carty..
Firefox's been slowing down on me lately, too... it might be the fact that I'm on my laptop now that my PC is fried. My laptop is old...
Thats why I use Opera on my PC. Rock stable. Very few websites dont show fine on it. For them, I fire up IE
Sometimes xda-developers itself is very slowwww

I use Opera at work also, and sometimes at home.
My favorite browsers are as follows:
Firefox 3
Firefox 2 with certain addons
Opera
Firefox 2 without any addons
Internet Explorer
Yes... that space after firefox and before IE is there on purpose.
Opera is great and fast but it has a few quirks that bug the heck out of me, not to mention some sites don't work properly on it. Many more sites than firefox, since it's implementation of AJAX is somewhat screwy. Internet Explorer is great in the sense that it never breaks on me, but that's because I don't allow it to get all gunked up.

True. Remember the gmail problem which used to happen on opera(now, that problem is gone though). AJAX is implemented fine on latest opera, though still not on IE standards, but, its quite there.
To me, it provides the fastest browsing experience

AJAX in Opera is implemented the proper way, yes, but websites don't write Ajax in the proper way, they write in the way that IE supports it many times.
But Opera IS much faster.
Keep in mind, those ads, as annoying and a pain in the ass as they are, keep this website free.
I used to run a forum/community type of site similiar to this one a few years back that had about 30,000 members ... and you have no idea how much it costs to do so. This site is considerably larger than the one I owned... and Between paying for transfer and storage ..etc... it gets expensive... and keep in mind you make cents per ad ...
So i think its something we just need to accept... or maybe donate to xda, so they can get a more powerful server or less ads.

Hi, all:
I found that G1's browser disable the "file uploads" function. So, If posting an email, you can't attach any files with it. It seems that no setting items related with this issue. Is that the browser development team disable it for security reason?
Seriously, I had a p.o.s. Sidekick, and even that allowed uploads to any site. I believe Opera Mini allows for uploads, but that browser sucks.
hi, CBowley:
I don't understand what you says "I had a p.o.s.", Do you mean you have another app to upload files except Opera Mini?

I apologize, in America "p.o.s." means "piece of ****", describing the "Sidekick", aka "Danger hiptop", I believe Opera mini is the only browser that allows for uploads.

workaround
Funny I came here today for the same reason as op did. I know this theard is a little old, but I do know of a workaround, well sort of, at least for the example that op used. This may work other ways, but I use linda file manger.
Go to the file u want to send though linda. Long press it and options come up. Select "send to", then pick gmail (not email). It will then bring up an email with file attched to it. Just send email like normal now. This works for Any file type. I've tested size up tp 7 mb so far...
sorry that my English is not good, hope u guys understand...

Can you give us a URL that examples your problem (and maybe a screenshot in Opera where you've scrolled right to the bottom)? I've never seen this before.
screenshot 1 viewing by PC, can see whole screen to the bottom
screenshot 2 viewing by hd2, but can't show the lower part
screenshot 3 viewing by hd2, enlarged but can't scroll down to show bottom

on the other hand, what is the semi transparent icon at the top right hand corner use for??
Okay - your problem looks like an old problem that web developers face. It looks to me like a simple case of cross-browser compatability issues with CSS. You know how some web sites work in IE, but not in FireFox, and vice-versa. Well this looks like the same thing.
Does it look the same when you look at that site in IE on your phone?

I understand your frustration, but if I'm correct then it can't be helped. Not with the version of Opera that you currently use anyway. Maybe it will be different in version 10, but that, of course, doesn't support pinch-to-zoom, which is the main reason I have not migrated to that version.
I may be completely wrong about this, but I've done quite a bit of web development and this really does look like a browser compatability issue to me, especially since it renders fine in IE and SkyFire.
Sorry to not have good news. Maybe Opera 10 will be better for you, if you can live without pinch-to-zoom, but maybe that will still be the same.
Sorry mate
Hi,
Ive been using Opera Mobile 10 since the 3rd beta came out and I totally love it. The zooming works great and I dont really miss pinch to zoom.
Sometimes though I wish I could click links while zoomed out (I know theres a registry edit for 9.7 but I didntvfind anything for 10, I even checked about:config) or disable the zoom completly on some sites where it isnt needed in the first place (google.com/reader/i/ for example)
Can anyone help me with this? Its driving me insane XD
Thanks in advance
Is there really no one who could help me?
I only want to get the iPhone google reader to be displayed in opera mobile 10 so its actually useful
Another problem Im having is that the text is displayed way to small (see screenshot)
---edit---
So it turns out I cant post an attachment from my HD2. Ill post one when I get home.
I went to Verizon to try and noticed that the new Droid Incredible does an absolutely amazing job at rendering text and pictures while zooming into webpages. The text are kept VERY smooth and the pictures are NOT pixelated while zooming.
Unlike the HD2, when you pinch to zoom on a particular text or picture, the zoomed-in text or picture remains choppy until you release your two fingers from the screen.
Is there a fix for this? In terms of hardware wise, it is so identical to the HD2 but why is there this problem?
Can anyone provide a fix?
I am using Opera 9.7, Btw.
rebump. fix?
Seems like no one seems to know or already know the answer. Maybe that's why no one is answering?
