Hi, all:
I found that G1's browser disable the "file uploads" function. So, If posting an email, you can't attach any files with it. It seems that no setting items related with this issue. Is that the browser development team disable it for security reason?
Seriously, I had a p.o.s. Sidekick, and even that allowed uploads to any site. I believe Opera Mini allows for uploads, but that browser sucks.
hi, CBowley:
I don't understand what you says "I had a p.o.s.", Do you mean you have another app to upload files except Opera Mini?

I apologize, in America "p.o.s." means "piece of ****", describing the "Sidekick", aka "Danger hiptop", I believe Opera mini is the only browser that allows for uploads.

workaround
Funny I came here today for the same reason as op did. I know this theard is a little old, but I do know of a workaround, well sort of, at least for the example that op used. This may work other ways, but I use linda file manger.
Go to the file u want to send though linda. Long press it and options come up. Select "send to", then pick gmail (not email). It will then bring up an email with file attched to it. Just send email like normal now. This works for Any file type. I've tested size up tp 7 mb so far...

I need to know what exactly this program do. since in the manual there is only one sentence that decribe it as to provides info about download status and the downloaded content from the internet.
I tried downloading mp3, gif, exe, zip, rar through internet explorer well it downloads but while downloading and running the Download Agent there is noting.
so what is it for. why so many crap applications such as enroller, midlets manager, voice commander being installed.
The Download Agent might be an operator function to give you access to certain special services, like downloadable ringtones or wallpapers or whatever. Or it could be something to do with MMS. Or it might just be something that HTC includes in their OEM ROM builds and your operator hasn't removed. Dunno.
You can delete the shortcuts in your /Windows/Programs folder, but this won't free-up much space.
:| i thought it was so you could download "updates" without reflashing the whole rom....
there was some rumors about being able to do this shortly before wm5 came out.....for example updating wmp without having to wait for the operator to release a whole new rom
D'oh
I was hoping this forum would tell me what it's for. Have left this post to bring it back to the top of the recent history section in the hope of getting an answer.
slightly off topic, but I would like to be able to download more than one file at once while browsing the net (pie only allows one d/l at a time). is there a browser that allows this or does anyone know a reg key that will let me change this?
also. if downloading a file from xda dev wiki using pie I just get the file 'download.php'. is there a browser that this doesn't happen in?

Get Tweaks2k2 (search in Google and you'll hit it) There's a lot of tweaks, one of them being multiple downloads.

sweet.
cool. ta. i'll give it a try.
I search and found something called PocketDyndns, however i never able to reach the site, does anyone know other programs can do ???
Since I want to config my firewall will only allow me to telnet in, however GPRS is not a fix IP, so I hope i set my firewall to recognize the xxx.dyndnd.org all i need is to update my IP to the DNS record.
Ever heard of the hidden, hard-to-find, brand-new and useless search machine Google? Here you can click on the second link and voila!
i know this thread is old, but anyone got any better leads i swear i been up and down and thru that list but whatever was the 2nd link isn't available anymore.
Nor does there seem to be much else.
It would be very convenient for the ftp, http, inbound via GPRS people if a ActiveSync/"Internet" aware PocketPC/Windows Mobile Dynamic IP app was available.
Any ideas?
Yup, it seems it has been completely removed from http://www.networkdweebs.com/stuff/dyndns/ . The parent directory, which is visible ( http://www.networkdweebs.com/stuff/ ) doesn't contain it any more.
Therefore, mail the dev at [email protected] and ask them how you can get the app. Please also post a message in here too if you get any positive answer.
I just find that site...

Thanks!
It worked on my htc touch pro 2, WinMo 6.5.
Although it can not start with system and minimized to background.

Still looking for one that I like...
So I'm here.. trying to compare the different new WM6.1 ROM's in different tabs..
and my browser keeps pretty much slowing to a crawl or freezing up on me..
I think it's this stupid 'Toyota Corolla' flash advertisement!! GRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stupid Car!!!!
I just got the car and Im happy with it. Just because of your slow browser, dont complain. Have you tried FirFox browser? If yes, then there is an add-on called AdBlock Plus which can block unwanted ads
Regards,
Carty..
Firefox's been slowing down on me lately, too... it might be the fact that I'm on my laptop now that my PC is fried. My laptop is old...
Thats why I use Opera on my PC. Rock stable. Very few websites dont show fine on it. For them, I fire up IE
Sometimes xda-developers itself is very slowwww

I use Opera at work also, and sometimes at home.
My favorite browsers are as follows:
Firefox 3
Firefox 2 with certain addons
Opera
Firefox 2 without any addons
Internet Explorer
Yes... that space after firefox and before IE is there on purpose.
Opera is great and fast but it has a few quirks that bug the heck out of me, not to mention some sites don't work properly on it. Many more sites than firefox, since it's implementation of AJAX is somewhat screwy. Internet Explorer is great in the sense that it never breaks on me, but that's because I don't allow it to get all gunked up.

True. Remember the gmail problem which used to happen on opera(now, that problem is gone though). AJAX is implemented fine on latest opera, though still not on IE standards, but, its quite there.
To me, it provides the fastest browsing experience

AJAX in Opera is implemented the proper way, yes, but websites don't write Ajax in the proper way, they write in the way that IE supports it many times.
But Opera IS much faster.
Keep in mind, those ads, as annoying and a pain in the ass as they are, keep this website free.
I used to run a forum/community type of site similiar to this one a few years back that had about 30,000 members ... and you have no idea how much it costs to do so. This site is considerably larger than the one I owned... and Between paying for transfer and storage ..etc... it gets expensive... and keep in mind you make cents per ad ...
So i think its something we just need to accept... or maybe donate to xda, so they can get a more powerful server or less ads.

hey guys, don not know, whether the problem may cause on other pages... but there is an issue with the website studivz.net.
I wrote more than three times to the sony ericsson-support...but they answered me to make a hard-reset and use opera mobile instead of internet explorer.
I thought they're just kidding me...because I wrote them that there are few people having the same problem USING OPERA on studivz.net...
ohere you may see the problem with a black col that becomes bigger and bigger each time I press any link on the page...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7cKCJ25a6zE
perhaps anybodyy of you know how to work around...
got the same problem on meinvz and other pages aswell.
just keep in mind ... the opera version u are using is still BETA. it has plenty of bugs (hardcoded text block formatting f.e.)
well ... we'll see what future versions and browser bring here.
I'm trying to contact opera...but there seems to be no support-mailaddress available?!
I sent the link to the German Sony Ericsson-support as well...hope they'll answer seriously...
and I noticet the support-team of studiVZ.

Does it need flash or anything? I can't see anything using the dev tools
Have you tried netfront browser?
the 3.5 "concept version" is one of my favourites, not to everyones taste but might be worth a try.
http://www.access-company.com/products/mobile_solutions/netfrontmobile/browser/35_wm_tp.html
Obviously leaving a message on the opera forums would be a good thing as well.
I found a support-mail-contactmailer on the webpage of opera and informed them about this issue. sent the link to this video as well.
perhaps I'll give the netFront a try...but I'd more like to use the opera...
the page doesn't use flash...but ajax. for opening message-windows (in the video you may see, it doesn't work with opera...)
well, I installed the new official rom and this issue has gone.
works find now. but ajax-messages won't open at all.
is there anything I can do?
and I hate that you have to zoom in before you are able to click a link/input-field in the new build of opera.
hope they make this "feature" checkable per box in the settings.
or anybody may find out, what to change in the registry.
another fine thing would be a tutorial that describes how to set opera opening tabs in the background instead of making new tabs active.
especially on ebay this is bugging me.
and at last I think it would be great to set the identity of opera as desktop-browser. I hate google-, gmx-, or especially ebay-mobile... if I could choose the identity of opera all would be fine
Hi guys I was very frustrated every time I want to read Engadget on the new opera mobile 10 without using Turbo mode. I spend lot of time looking for a solution trying to spoof agent and others but no way to get the real version...instead everytime I get a text only version for wap devices.
Finally I found the solution:
In opera10 goto to the web page "OPERA:CONFIG"
goto NETWORK and scroll down for "HTTP Accept"
there put this text:
text/html, application/xml;q=0.9, application/xhtml+xml, image/png, image/jpeg, image/gif, image/x-xbitmap, */*;q=0.1, application/youtube-client, application/x-obml2d, multipart/mixed
PS:This solution can be a workarround to others sites with the same problem too.
I hope this will be usefull to someone
it's a pain in the ass typing it all, but it's worth it thanx for the tip. now if there would be a fix for the text flow/break
My biggest issue is the crap zoom (needs at least a zoombar if pinch to zoom isn't an option) and camera not working with Opera running in the background.
Also, for engadget (I'm on there all the time), you can just scroll down and hit view desktop/full version. Also, you can add something like ?m=false (it's not that exactly, and I can't check it at the moment) and it will change the default mobile version to the full version.
However if your tweak works for all sites, then hats of to you! And I need to get on that later tonight.
You dont need to type it!
connect your HD2 to activesync, and go to the folder where you installed opera 10, got to the folder profile and then edit the file "Opera.ini" (in my case it is \Storage Card\program files\Opera Mobile 10\profile\opera.ini)
There, under [Network] add the text like this:
[Network]
HTTP Accept=text/html, application/xml;q=0.9, application/xhtml+xml, image/png, image/jpeg, image/gif, image/x-bitmap, */*;q=0.1, application/youtube-client, multipart/mixed
Save the file to the HD2 and that is
(I first do this the hard way...typing all in the HD2 grrr)

Can you gimme a page with the text flow/break problem? I will try to find a solution to that too. (still none of the pages I usually go show this bug)
Thanks Shagratt.
BTW, to everyone worried about entering all that text, most of it is already there as the default, all you have to do is add the last part listed below to the end and save.

Not exactly, I think the most important one is removing the wap part (engadget must use this to detect mobile devices), but in my opera mobile 10 there was only a empty space, so I have to write all.
