I went to Verizon to try and noticed that the new Droid Incredible does an absolutely amazing job at rendering text and pictures while zooming into webpages. The text are kept VERY smooth and the pictures are NOT pixelated while zooming.
Unlike the HD2, when you pinch to zoom on a particular text or picture, the zoomed-in text or picture remains choppy until you release your two fingers from the screen.
Is there a fix for this? In terms of hardware wise, it is so identical to the HD2 but why is there this problem?
Can anyone provide a fix?
I am using Opera 9.7, Btw.
rebump. fix?
Seems like no one seems to know or already know the answer. Maybe that's why no one is answering?

I didn't know there is a turbo mode in opera 9.7. Where is it?
I am not using Opera 10, BTW.

Is there a way to increase the zoom rate when pinching in Opera? I usually have to pinch up to three times to zoom in enough on, for example, a link...
'Double click' to zoom in will give you enough space to click on a link.
I guess, but I'd still like to increase the degree of zooming when pinching. That's why I asked how to increase it and not if there were other ways to zoom in. But thanks anyway.

There is a reg tweak to allow you to click on links in non-zoom, that may help? Its in the sticky at the top of the page.

This reg edit allows you to tap on a link without the need for zooming in first.

Thanks both of you. I did know about that particular tweak, though I probably should have been more clear regarding my problem. Zooming in on a link was merely an example. When zooming in, I generally like pinch zooming better than double tapping; it is more precise and you yourself can choose the degree of zooming. However, I'd like to able to get the zooming just right with only one pinch instead of multiple.
I'd like it to be more like, forgive me for this, the iphone, but only regarding safari mind you!
+1
Isn't there anyone who can help with this one?

Sneak bump. Perhaps someone could speculate whether it would even be possible or not?
*bump* again.
Big bump!
This is something that I'd REALLY like to change too!
bump bump bump
Like an iphone???
So you would like to have no choice in how your browser behaves?
Or you would like the choice to change it to similar to Safari?
Luckily in WM you have countless possibilities.

We don't want a ****ty iPhone.
All we want is faster zooming.
Yes, there IS countless possibilities, thanks to WM. But HOW do we increase the zoom rate when pinch zooming?
yep, that would be a nice tweak ...
biiiiiiiig bump
I guess there should be some configuration. Have you tried set Zoom config in opera:config?
I can't find anything.
I can set the zoom rate for HTC Album and other stuff, but not for Opera.
May I ask this again? Has anyone found anything in the meantime?
Hi,
Ive been using Opera Mobile 10 since the 3rd beta came out and I totally love it. The zooming works great and I dont really miss pinch to zoom.
Sometimes though I wish I could click links while zoomed out (I know theres a registry edit for 9.7 but I didntvfind anything for 10, I even checked about:config) or disable the zoom completly on some sites where it isnt needed in the first place (google.com/reader/i/ for example)
Can anyone help me with this? Its driving me insane XD
Thanks in advance
Is there really no one who could help me?
I only want to get the iPhone google reader to be displayed in opera mobile 10 so its actually useful
Another problem Im having is that the text is displayed way to small (see screenshot)
---edit---
So it turns out I cant post an attachment from my HD2. Ill post one when I get home.
Hello there,
I use Opera Browser on my hd2 but i am tired of this..the pictures while browsing is too low quality i think because of opera turbocan i disable this annoying thing or i cant? i want better quality pictures
ps sorry for my bad english
Are you on t-mobile by any chance?
Because if that's the case then that's how it is, their servers compress pictures to a ridiculous extent to make browsing faster (save money), there's nothing that can be done about it

In the opera address bar type "opera:config". Either quicksearch "turbo" or click on User Pref and scroll down to turbo mode. verify that it is unchecked. I assume you are using opera 9.7.

You can turn off turbo in the settigns...
Read the post above to disable turbo. If it doesn't help, or is already off, then your network does the same as TMobile.
opera
any of you have the same problem as me?
Basically, I want to do a smaller pinch-to-zoom gesture in order to zoom in a lot! I don't want to stretch my fingers across the entire 4.3 screen just to zoom in only 40% of the way. I want to get up to 100% using a smaller gesture.
Is there something that I do not know in the registry or an app that can allow this to work?
Can anyone provide me their experience with a smaller gesture, but more zoomed in?
Rebump again.

Maybe you need to specify what version of Opera you are using. I know that the normal reg edits don't work for Opera 10.
im using opera 9.7

maybe its just not possible
I'm not sure if this has been already. covered... but i don't know exactly what to call it... but when i browse using opera.. and use eitherpinch to zoom or the double tap... the page on the screen starts shaking and moving.... like it jumps from one part of the page to another... has there been any fixes or tweaks to at least reduce it? and also do you guys even know what I'm talking about... thanks
hmm... can someone at least tell me the proper name for what i am experiencing so that i can research it myself?
let me answer your question. this problem is caused by text reflow. Period. thats it. that is the answer. you try to zoom on something, you get there, but then the screen jumps all the way to the left for some reason/ yeah. that is reflow at work. and it sucks.
i tried to find a way to disable it for many many days. re-bumping my thread again and again.
there is a way to disable reflow, but it comes at the cost of ugly webpages. usually text are aligned in a way that is not natural.
Search my threads. I am still trying to find a way, but I hoped i answered your question.
let me know if you find something better. =)
You need to download the newest build of Opera 9.7 from this forum. I have build 3600, and it is very smooth. Pinch-to-zoom works properly, text reflow doesnt cause the web page to jump all over the place either.
The update is just an exe file that you overwrite in the Windows directory.
try this. Worked wonders for me
I'm using the 3600 build as well, it's still not perfect in regards to the jumping but it is massively improved.

I have this installed as well. Its is a conbination of registry hacks to improve the smoothness of Opera. But the main tweak is to change the virtual screen size to 1024 pixels wide. Although you would need to change it to 1020 pixels to ensure that double-tap continues to work in portrait view.
The cab previously posted comes from this thread and page: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=627441&page=6
Here is another link for Opera Smooth tweaks, which I also installed: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=626157
Maybe a combination of the above and build 3600 will change your opinion...
