hello,
I have a question concerning .net framework 3.5...i was attempting to start cooking, but ran into a problem when trying to download framework and its service pack. First I used the hyperlink. Then I went to microsoft and clicked the easily found "download" button(only 2.8 Mb)...Well that didnt work, then I found out that it was a update pack, so on the same page closer to the bottom it says full version.
I downloaded the full version (something like 200Mb). I ran the .exe and it wouldn't make it to the end before it would tell me that I needed to open-> control panel->programs->turn windows features on or off-> and select microsoft .net framework 3.5.1
Well that was already selected...attempted it several ways and still receiving the same error.
I also found that windows has had a problem with windows 7 and .net fW. It suggested I give my email...it then sent me fixit link and that link would not load.
I have looked at some other sites to see if I can figure this out, but havent quite got it yet.
Thanks in advance
Jake

Hi All,
I don't have this phone, at least not yet.
But I'm trying to help a friend. There is an application he uses that requires eMbedded Visual Basic Runtime to be installed. The problem he has is that the Cab file won't install on the ATT Tilt 2 at all.
Is it possible that Visual Basic is such an ancient technology that it won't run on this device or newer ones?
Has anyone else encountered such problems with installing the Runtime CAB?
Any solutions?
Raudel
I installed it awhile ago on a 6.5 EnergyROM, and don't recall having problems with it. Try redownloading the .cab from here and see if that works. Sometimes the cab files are just bad and need to be redownloaded.
Nevermind...
Thanks for all the help DaveTheTytnIIGuy and especially RaudelJr!
This was me being too busy to pay attention to what I was doing.
As of this morning I have the embedded VB installed and all apps working on the Tilt 2 running stock rom wm 6.5 21xx.
I was trying to install the runtime to the sd card... oh well...
Thanks again,
ggg

13. Install Compact Net Framework 3.5 to Make Old Apps Work Again
Some apps you may have used on another phone will not work on the Leo unless you install Compact Net Framework to your phone. Download the cab from the following link and install to Device only - not Storage Card and then reset. http://justpctech.com/PPC/NETCFv35.wm.armv4i.cab Also make sure your phone is using the 3.5 as default and not 2.0. Go here: HKLM/Software/Microsoft/.NETCompactFramework. Change the DWORD data of entry 2.0.7045.00 from 1 to 0. Next Change the DWORD data of entry 3.5.7283.00 from 0 to 1 and then reset. This disables 2.0 and enables 3.5. Also some apps need the file NETCFv35.Messages.EN.wm. Here is the link to download the file: http://www.mediafire.com/?ommgm3gz13z Install the NETCFv35.Messages.EN.wm.cab to device after you installed NETCFv35.wm.armv4i.cab and reset./QUOTE]

Thanks for this. I used the 2 .CAB files which I obtained from the modaco site (still haven't installed a registry editor - my bad).
It worked without issue (apart from when I needed to figure out how to soft reset my HD2!).
I've got BSB tweaks working now.
I previously only installed 1 of these cabs, but i guess there no harm installing both if they serve different purposes.
Problems installing Net Framework
Hi Guys. I've got myself into a bit of a problem here. I downloaded an app. When I came to run it, it crashed saying I needed to install net framwork. OK, so no problem as I thought I had it installed already. I checked my installed programs and I could see it was already installed.
So, I uninstalled the app it and tried to reinstal the cab version of Net Framework. But, as soon as it starts the installation process, I get an error message saying that it's already installed in ROM. I rebooted the device thinking that would sort it, but it didn't,
Worst of all, now a load of other programs don't work because they can't find net framework 3.5
Ooo errr - anyone got any suggestions?
Thanks
Steve
check the registry and follow above directions, make sure it's pointing to 3.5 if already installed and not 2.0
net Framework
Hiya
Thanks for replying. Yes, I did follow the above instructions and yes, I have made sure that the registry is pointing to the correct version before I posted my query.
Any other thoughts
Steve
Okay, I've been playing with my new Rhodium quite a bit-- and I keep encountering a number of "Installation of ____ was unsuccessful" errors when installing various programs that worked on my original AT&T Tilt.
The perfect example was just now when I tried to install "Resco Explorer 2008 Trial" from the cab file off their website. I've also encountered this type of error when installing total commander and a number of others on skyler17's "Software worth installing on the TP2" post. I've hard re-set a number of times with the same results. Yet, only a few others like Skype & Swype install just fine.
Are the errors a publisher certificate issue with WinMo 6.5?
Any ideas of how to work around these errors?
My current device info--
Phone: AT&T Tilt 2 (HTC Rhodium)
ROM: Stock, AT&T 1.59.502.5 (67150) (9/25/09)
Radio: 4.48.25.50
Thank you for your help!
Note: The only "advance" thing I've done is flash the "Rhodium-HardSPL_V2_00R3_185HSPL", but I'm still running the stock AT&T Rom. (The stall in me flashing a new ROM is mainly b/c I'm having trouble finding a full stock AT&T copy to re-flash in case I don't care for some of the cooked ROMs-- but that's another issue...).
Okay, how about this-- Is anyone else have these issues or is it just my device?
I'm having it but only on one application I am trying to install.
It states that it doesn't have authorised permissions or something like that. All the other apps can be installed normally though.

I have the AT&T Tilt 2
stock ROM 1.59.502.3 (67150) WWE 09/25/09
Radio 4.48.25.20
Have applied the same "Rhodium-HardSPL_V2_00R3_185HSPL" without issue, and also have not yet changed up my ROM. I have tweaked the TF3D though.. applied Co0kieMonster's HQ wallpaper patch and using HDWall. Installed (removed, installed, etc) numerous applications without incident other than a warning the cab's are unsigned, they let me install and work just fine, though.
.
Okay-- I figured it out.
The software installations issues were from an older Microsoft .NET Compact Framework (v2.0.7045.00) that the AT&T Tilt2 comes with.
Why the Tilt 2 is not shipped with the newer MS .NET Compact Framework (v3.5.7283.00) is beyond me. The real challenge was getting the new .NET to fully install & run properly. After a bunch of reading-- here is the proper way to get it to work.
To install Microsoft .NET Compact Framework 3.5 on your device:
1. Download .NET Compact Framework 3.5 from Microsoft
2. Run the downloaded MSI file and let it install.
3. Connect your device to Activesync/Windows Mobile Device Center and finish the automatically launched installation on your device.
4. Soft reset your device. (this is a must)
5. Open a Registry editor and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\.NETCompactFramework where you will see two entries for the (now two) existing version references: the old one, which came with your device and the new one you just installed.
6. Change the DWord value of 3.5.7283.00 from 0 to 1 (thus enabling it) and all the other values (i.e.: 2.0.7045.00) from 1 to 0 (thus disabling it/them).
7. Soft reset your device.
8. Congratulations! You have upgraded to .NET Compact Framework 3.5.
Thank you pocketnow.com for the guide.
Advanced Configuration Tool v3.3 now runs as well as all my other software I was having trouble installing/running.
Here is the Registry Editor 0.9 beta I used (free from TouchXperience.com)
Hopefully this will help other with software installation issues and other users having difficulty installing Microsoft .NET Compact Framework 3.5.
I installed a few apps on my HTC tilt 2 with at&t from some sites. Everything was working fine for a while until my phone started slowing down and freezing alot, so I did a soft and hard reset and it fixed the freezing problems but when I run most of the apps, I get this message, ' This application requires a newer version of the Microsoft .NET Compact Framework than the version installed on this device.' Then it says quit and I hit it and this message comes up in a box, ' .NET CF Initialization Error ' and in the box it states, ' The application failed to load required components. If the .NET Compact Framework is installed on a storage card, please ensure that this card is in place and launch the application again. If this fails, a re-installation of .NET Compact Framework is recommended. Support info: -2147483643 (80000005)' So i downloaded it and get a message saying, ' NETCFSetupv35.msi' and in the box it states, 'There is no application associated with "NETCFSetup35". Run the application first, then open this file from within the application.' I don't know what I'm doing wrong but any help or advise will be appreciated. I don't know much about my phone but I'm pretty sure I did everything right. It all worked before when I installed the apps? Thanks in advance for your help.

Yeah it sounds like you had CF 3.5 on there before but somehow it didn't stay after the hard reset (which indicates it was installed sometime after the phone was first purchased).
The file you downloaded is to install it from your PC, not the phone. Put the cab file I attached here on your phone, run that, and it should resolve the issue
Thanks for your response, when i click on it it get a message saying, 'FIle download failed The requested header could not be located.' i've actually been getting that message a few times with other downloads too. would you know what that means? thanks again for your help.
run this from your computer. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...49-3c6b-42f1-9fd9-0041345b3385&displaylang=en

Hmmm no, never heard of it, and basic searching turns up nothing but lists of odd HTTP error codes, that one included. My guess would be an issue with your browser on your PC, but I really couldn't say for sure.
You can also just run the file Rhodium500 linked to above, it's the same .msi file you put on your phone in the first place but couldn't get to run from there...it's an automated installer that just handles everything from your PC instead of you putting the cab on the phone manually.
thanks alot guys, still have no luck and since my phone is under warranty, i'm gonna get a new one. I got 2 htc tilt 2's and only mine is doing this? i'll be back.
dude getting a new touchpro2 wont help... i dont think... like the guy who posted the attachment said, just install it and it should work. if u cant download it use your friend's computer or the library
Dude I had the same problem and if you wait a few mins Ill find it in the microsoft website so you can try downloading from there. Just run it on your computer, then connect your phone with active sync. Go to programs> More> Add/Remove programs and click on the little box there. (I am not sure if the menu goes like this, im actually sure that it doesnt, but for some reason my phone wont connect the WMDM right now so i cant tell u) anyway dont return the phone just because of that cuz the new one might have a problem thats actually harder to fix
I dont remember where I got it from but Ill try to find the original place where I found it.
Heres the file
Microsoft Website
You can download it straight from their website. Its free and it doesnt hurt
thanks, just tried it and had no luck?? i can't even return my phone until the 12th so i'm still trying to figure it out.
hey everybody, I reset my sync center/active sync and re downloaded that from the microsoft website and it seemed to have fixed the problem. I appreciate your help very much.

Just a hint; it seems that either resetting the device or ActiveSync seems to solve a lot of problems sometimes. Had the same that my device didn't want to accept new Exchange-settings I made on my PC. After resetting both, it worked flawlessly.
I am trying to download trapster which I have done and made an account....BUT for some reason when I go to use it on my phone...it says I need a "Newer," Version of the framework.
I try to download the framework 3.5 on my phone AND on my computer but it says that it ISNT a executable file on the phone or something.
Can anyone help me with these two apps please...
Oh and I also searched the forums found 2 threads with "Trappster," In the name but NOONE said a step by step process on fixing said problem...they dont even have it on the main page of trapster.
bump.......
It sounds like you downloaded the desktop version of .net framework, you need the mobile version. Just put the attached cab on your phone and run it from there. Do a soft-reset, and then try running trapster again.
