Hi,
I just rooted my N1 and I have a question about flashing different themes.
For example, I am running the latest cyanogen mod with the kspec theme. Lets say I want to try the NexTHEME. Do I just go into recovery and flash the NexTHEME zip file or do I have to restore back to original cyanogen first to ensure whatever changes kspec theme did would be gone before I flash NexTHEME?
Thanks!
Well it could work over the top, but if there is an element that the previous theme themed and the newer didn't you will still have bits of the previous mixed in with the new.
It's better to reflash cyan's base then the theme over the top.
A nandroid backup would be best to have just in case too.

There are two types of metamorphs. The Cyanogens and the Froyo ones. I am on both. Which morphs should i choose.
Well, from my limited understanding, Froyo is the name of the 2.2 operating system, while Cyanogen is the "style" or build of the rom. There are also Sense and AOSP builds, and even hybrids are possible. For instance, punk.kaos' rom is a Cyanogen/Aosp hybrid. I have used a Metamorph made for a Cyanogen rom on it and was able to change most of the things. So, I would just double check which style of rom you are running then go with the newest version of Metamorph style you want and see how it works. Sometimes it takes a few times for it to "take", and other times it might mess up your phone so always make sure to do a Nandroid back up to be on the safe side.
Now that we have working CM 5.0.8 ports to our hero, does that mean that we can just take a g1 or magic theme and flash it?
Mod please move this to Q&A or at least the theme section...
I guess so but I'm not completely sure. The resolution is the same and probably also the apks so I can't see why not but again I'm not sure. You can try it out. Nothing will happen as long as you've got a nandroid
put simply..no they wont work..They have different framework-res.ap files, services.jar and others that are port or device specific
Themes based on the CM version you are using DO work as long as they are MDPI(Hero,g1,eris,etc) not HDPI(nexus, desire, etc).
There are some in Android Themes section of this forum, worked for me without problems.
If you want a theme meant for AOSP G1 rom...you cant for the reason mentioned above by Bonesy.Probably they wont even work across the diferent G1 roms.
Only themes based on the CM version you are using.
I just got my orange san francisco today and was a bit laggy so i've decided to enjoy cynogen mod (2.3) from here. My question is, after flashing this, can i just restore nand backup and it would get me back to 2.1? is that it?
also would my phone have 2.3 after installing cynogen or is it just a theme for 2.1 stock roms?
Sorry for these questions but i've never used cynogenmod so just wondering...hope you reply soon.

I don't own an S5 yet so I can't test out the current theme options but I'm hoping somebody can answer my question. I prefer the look of stock android over TW. As AOSP roms are fully working yet, is there a way to make the S5 look like stock android?
I know I can use a different launcher, many of which probably have a stock android theme. But.. do these themes change everything to look like stock android, such as the settings app, pop up windows etc? I looked in the Alliance Rom thread which has many theme options but I couldn't see a stock kitkat style theme.
Hello, i have been using pixel expirience room for a quite some time now I also installed stormbreaker kernel. However i would like to go back to stock rom. Im not sure what do to, do i delete everything and just flash miui or there is somthing else to do first ? keep in mind storbreaker kernel is installed on my phone.
Miflash tool
Well, you can flash stock rom in your custom recovery like any other rom (from what i remember your custom recovery will be replaced by the xiaomi stock one) but i recommend you to flash xiaomi.eu rom, its like stock but better... (and you will not lose your custom recovery), and lastly i don't really recommend a miui based roms, if you want a lightweight rom i can recommend POSP.
P.S. When you flash any rom it doesn't matter what kernel where you using since you replacing whole system that have it's own kernel...
