Hi!, I was wondering if there are any programs that makes 2 windows mobile devices connect via bluetooth and act as walkie talkies? One of the phones is not connected to a data plan, or any plan for that matter, but the other is.
Just to note, I've tried googling, but couldn't find any answers.
Thanks in advance.
Tom.
Re: Walkie Talkie
I'm trying to figure out what would be the benifit to walkie-talkie over bluetooth and am coming up blank, Bluetooth only gives maybe up to 35 feet connectivity under normal circumstances..., now wifi on the other hand, well as long as you are within range of an access point then you could skype... in the accessories section there is listed a micro-SD-Wifi, not sure how well it works... but might be an option for a phone without a plan.
Yelling has a longer range than bluetooth. Wouldn't be very practical.

I was about to say something similar
An aplication like that would be very useful for me! To talk bike to bike in the highway or offroading warning my friend from road obstacles and situations like that.. yelling with my helmet on would be very unpractical
but if it was a WIFI walkie talkie or intercom is better using the bluetooth only to connect with the headset that would be great!

You would still be too far away for BT's range.
I mean using WIFI to connect (bike to bike) not BT!
something like this
w w w .webbikeworld . c o m /motorcycle-intercoms/bluetooth-intercom.htm
but using wifi insted of BT or using the BT only to connect my phone to an headset inside the helmet! that would be great!

The Vogue has no Wifi.

Hi, as we'll all end up with an xda2, and they seem set to have built in Buetooth. I thought a thread all about the possitive applications for Bluetooth would be useful.
Can we steer away from the 'why can't it just have wifi' argument and actually discuss uses for bluetooth.
My thoughts are...
Bt gps mouse for the car would be fantastic. allowing you to pass the xda around the car and still have it picking up a signal. even take it outside the car when stopped to plan the rest of your route.
I have a broadband internet connection at home, running from a dedicated server machine, by Bt'ing the server i'll be able to wirelessly surf the net anywhere in my house, that would rock! internet based voice comms in my mobile. guess you could also Bt activesync if you really felt the need, but i tend to charge it at the same time so i'll stilll be plugging a cable in.
Bt headsets could be good. driving along the road and your phone rings etc...
Guess you could Bt contacts and appointments etc
Bt games could be interesting, think theres a worms clone called snails that already does this.
Does anyone know if it'll be able to connect to more than one Bt device at a time? say a gps system and a headset? or my server machine and a headset? Can anyone think of Bt uses that i've overlooked
i hope your house's not so big do not forget BTs range does not go over 10 meters and BT is much more subject to interferences frequencies with other devices than 802.b or g protocol. Even more BT max speed theorically is 2 Mbps, whereas wifi 802.11b is 10 and 802.11g is 54
i guess THAT makes the difference too
BT is more secure ok but within a very limited range and brandwidth, perfect for headsets
You can use multiple devices. BT effectively doesn't even give the full 10-meter specified range (unless it is Class II, 100 meter spec). It is very slow with an effective throughput around 700k. It is fantastic for headsets, and still much faster than GPRS. The GPS thing makes me laugh though...both devices need power, so why not just cable them together?!?
Guess I must be missing something, but I can't see what all the A2DP dramas are about.
I have a new Jasjam and BlueAnt X5 stereo bluetooth headset and I got the skiping problem the first time I tried it. I soon discovered switching off WiFi completely fixed this and then I read about the reg hack to get stereo working.
Now my setup works perfectly.
Is there something wrong with me?
No, join the club. Worked right out of the box for me too.

"Completely"? How? Just keep it off in Connection Manager? Or something else/more? I've never used WiFi on my JASJAM and I still have skipping, even with the WIDCOMM stack.
Its all headset based. I'll add the ?BlueAnt X5 to the rather short list that works out of the box. The other ones I know of are the Nokia HS012W and the I-tech clips.

Shame. Looks like I need to find a replacement for my SE HBH-DS970.
Where can I find your list? Is it "Internal Use Only. For Sleuth255's eyes only." ?

Ahh, no there was meant to be a comma in there... switching off WiFi, (comma) completely fixed it.
Yes just in Comm Manager.
Thanks esseff. What excitement a single comma can cause . . .
I guess I'll wait for AKU3.3 before deciding for a replacement for the DS970.
I can also confirm that the Nokia HS-12W works right out of the box.

I don't have any problems with my I-Tech R35, but there are reports from other people who do. I always try to keep the number of simultaneous tasks down to a minimum, and close apps as I go along. Being tidy, and not loading the device, I intuitively believe helps reduce problems.
I don't think it's quite as simple as just being a headset problem, although it's certainly a contributory factor (another is definitely the distance - inversely proportional to distance squared - the headset unit is from the phone unit when using a2dp over bluetooth).
I have an idea for a program in PPC phone.
-I want to use one ppc device and two bluetooth headsets.
-With a program i want to talk from the one to the other headset. (image two people on a bike going for a trip and not talking for 2 hours).
I'm talking something like walkie-talkie but not with two devices but two headsets and one device.
Is it possible ??? ...and i'm not talking something like [email protected] program because it needs 2 ppcs.
\Thank you
Would you have enough range on Bluetooth to do this?
(image two people on a bike going for a trip and not talking for 2 hours)
I think that is less than 5 meters.

That would be the greatest idea for motorcyclers (means me 2) . I'm waiting for just a confirmation if it is possible... of course having program would be much nicer...
good idea
is it possible to travel with your mates with your bikes and stay close in 10 metres range ??
with my mates every time we go somewhere we travel with speeds round to 160-260 klm/hour....
you think is safe to stay close in an othere bike with theese speeds??
i dont think that is a good idea
check for something like this
http://www.alan-germany.com/lpd/lpduebersicht.php3?vid=1273936179
with hands free each one and with working range up to 2000m
or theese with range up to 15miles!!

but we are asking for a tool to communicate with your passenger, that is sitting just after you .
To talk with another bike I think the WIFI connection would be more useful or even GSM (GSM is probably not possible to programm).

ok then check this out

i'm talking allways for an extra source of communicating with passenger and with an other bike..
but if you have a wife isn't a good idea talking with her...and on bike
The whole idea is to use one PPC device and two bluetooth headsets. Just the program to open a communication channel between the two headsets like the "bluetooth router v1.05).
I think its not difficult for a developer to create such a program.
I used the "bluetooth router" when i was driving the bike and i had the iGO on.
I was not watching the screen but i was able to listen to directions while i was trying to find a road. That was when i got the idea about the bluetooth communication.
I'm going to drive 160 or 200 klm /h and having conversation with my mate (wife/girlfriend/whatever) but in slow speeds you can speak or make a comment in something you see at the road or even listen to some music.
Its very boring without talking.
Please answer ... THANKS
hmmmm....
...possible with two devices and two headsets, using THIS....
Yep, you would need two devices and two headsets. Don't believe you can communicate with 2 headsets from one ppc simultaneously.
bump...I'm riding,too. It's quite interesting!
Hi guys I got the Arc and absolutely loving it..but got a small problem..I cannot connect the bluetooth headset the phone does not find it..The 1st time it was connected to a N95 and worked fine..Now I have unpaired form the 95 but still the arc does not find it when searched..Any solution..

Yeah it is for the phone option...I connected it to a N95 first could that be the reason?? is there a way to reset?
you got to just search in the bluetooth option in settings right??
Still got the problem..
I think the issue is due to the lack of knowledge on how to "pair" the headset with the phone.
@OP, you have to press the power button and hold it until you see two arrows circulating.. then you will be able to pair with the phone.
Try reading the manual for better understanding

Probably.
At home I connect to my home phone over Bluetooth and at the same time to a Bluetooth speaker. Your phone should have Bluetooth connections for phone, media, and data sharing.

AAhhh.. a Light Bulb moment .. I think i was asked to assign all those when i set up my Phone with the Car !
So i need to un-assign DATA from the car , and assign it to the Garmin. I`ll see how that goes..
Thank you

Again, probably. The data to the car is for phonebook migration so your car shows who is calling you. But that should be a one time operation.
