[Q] Do i have 2.1?

About 5 weeks ago my Hero (unbranded and unlocked!) got an OTA update for 2.1. Then i had a KPN sim. After that update i switched network to T-mobile. I wonder if i have the full 2.1 update now looking at the information:
Firmware: 2.1-update1
Kernel: 2.6.29-063c4d24
Build: 3.32.405.1 cl 191507
Software: 3.32.405.1
When I check with system-software updates the phone repiels with no updates available.
If i don't have the full 2.1 update how can I get it? Or, what can i do to install a custom 2.2 ROM with the actual firmware on the phone?

Yes, you do. it says 2.1, that's a big hint.

I thought 2.1 has a two stage update. Because it says 2.1-update1 i assumed that i only had the first stage.
Am i wrong?

no you're not wrong you just misunderstood.
two-part update..
part one - boot rom update FW remains at 1.5
part two - update to FW 2.1
update-1 is just the revision number/version.

[Q] Question - what is JI6 update vs 2.1 Update1?

This may be a stupid question, but what is the different between the JI6 update and the 2.1 update1?
I just got a replacement phone from T-Mob and it claims to have firmware version 2.1 update1 but the baseband version is JFD.
Or maybe I'm trying to understand what things are in baseband vs. what is in firmware. I assume one difference is that its easy to change the firmware, but that does not help me much.

JI6 is latest and 2.1 update 1 is the old version
I really don't know if there was a pre release version 2.1 (without update 1)...
as far as i know, the very first vibrant came with 2.1 update 1 (or JFD), and that's what you have now.
You should get this updated to JI6...

There are no stupid questions, only stupid answers....
Eclair 2.1 update1 is the stock ROM that comes pre-installed on the Vibrant.
JFD is the launch version of that firmware.
The newest revision of the Eclair 2.1 update1 is JI6 which, I'm sure you've seen a thread or two about, attempts to fix many of the issues users were having with GPS/Sync/etc. If you realllllly wanted to simplify it, and I know this is completely wrong but follow me here, you have Eclair 2.1 update1(JFD). JI6 would essentially be Eclair 2.1 update1(JI6).
Since you've got a vanilla Vibrant, I'd suggest you charge up your phone and head over to the Kies Mini page to grab the JI6 update. Of course you could also wait for the OTA (over the air) update if you felt like it.

[Q] No 3G after Froyo OTA

I have a Google ION phone and after updating it to 2.2 OTA I never get a 3G connection anymore. Anyone know what might be causing this? I haven't found anyone else with this problem.
I've also been having trouble connecting to some wifi:s that used to work, not sure if it's related.

That's just lame....
I'm thinking that when the OTA for the Moment came out going from 1.5 to 2.1, there were a few later updates that added some features. ie v.CL14 to v.DI06 to v.DI18 to finally v.DJ07.
How an OS update wouldn't have an updated version of Sense, when we KNOW 2.1 works on these phones is baffling

Unless you're an idiot like me that knows 2 years is too long with one device, so I upped 40 bucks a month to stay Ponyboy gold....

Need Help Please ?

Does any body has a original mango rom as I am having problems with the flashed roms, My samsung focus restarts several time in a day after flashing roms, I had tried all roms uploaded here,
only AT&T original rom works which is stock , also I am not able to update to mango , it gives me error while updating error codes 80090002 and too many error codes.
I had tried different computers and tried several ways , but failed to update to mango.
My phone details are:
samsung SGH i917
Firmware revision number: 2424.11.11.2
Hardware revision number: 3.1.0.7
Radio software version: 2103.10.11.2
Radio Hardware version: 0.0.0.3
Bootloader version: 4.11.0.9

have you try the ROMs from here? :

These are the original stock roms and they worked perfectly but i am not able to update ( getting errors like 80090002 , 8000FFF etc. ) after flashing these roms and without updating i cant use applications from market place.
I had already tried four different pc, tried with/without memory card, hard reset, uninstalling and reinstalling zune , deliting update folder contents and whatever i found on google.

Don't know if you have a Rev. 1.3 or Rev. 1.4 but with mine I have been able to update to 7720 via Zune and then push the updates via Cab Sender up to 8773 and everything is working fine.
If you have a Rev. 1.3 you can try pushing the drivers/radio/bootloader update and see if it fixes the problem.

I had downloaded the cab file provided by you pls tell me how can i install this file, a short tutorial will be a great help.

When is it feezing?
After pushing the drivers/radio/bootloader update?
Try this:
Flash the AT&T retail ROM from this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1131022
After that you should be back on build 7004.
Then, try updating via Zune and it should get you up to build 7720 (Mango).
After you're in 7720, you should be able to push the individual updates from this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1306415 via Cab Sender.
I've done it twice on my device and everything is running smoothly.

after flashing this AT&T rom I am not able to update from zune , its giving me error codes , i had tried 4 different pcs every time its giving error mostly 80090002, i am able to update to 7390 only.
