Hi everyone,
I am having a slight issue. I flashed my rom today to one of DCD's roms, and I have done everything to setup the internet, mms, ect., but I am currently trying to setup my gps to work in google maps, and I have done everything i needed to do in qpst, i installed the agps cab, but right now when I try to go to the connection settings, the "external gps" option is not showing up. If anyone has an idea of how to get this to show up please let me know. Thank you for your time in advance.

Okay, so my Hermes is acting up. I'm on Shamanix's 3.62 ROM, radio 1.54.30. Everything works great and I can get programs like HTC weather to hit the net, Avantgo, or any other programs at any time to hit the net when I'm connected. But when I start IE it shows at the bottom of the screen where it's trying to load, but instead of the KB number going up, it stays at "0" and the page never loads. No matter what site I try, it never loads. I have done I don't know how many soft resets. I use the "disable" and "restore" cingular proxy cabs when I hit wifi networks, but that's definitely not the problem. Over media net, I can log into MSN messenger at any time and it works great. If the proxy isn't enabled, I get a message saying I can't connect to messenger. I don't know what the deal is. Any ideas? I've searched through everything I can find to try and figure out why IE won't load!! Thanks!!
Same problem here...no internet through PIE. Media Net screwed up? I am on F-32 WM6.1 rom. PIE ran fine for few weeks then just died....

That's how mine has been. It happened earlier this week, and somehow PIE came back after several soft reboots. If anyone knows how to fix this, short of reloading the rom, I would definitely appreciate knowing. Thanks!
Hey all,
Try the following...
1st, backup up your device using SPB Backup or Sprite.
Next, do a hard reset.
After your device reboots from the initial setup, try using your wifi to connect to the internet.
Now try IE...
Does IE work? If so.... it's just a settings issue in your Connections settings.
Restore your device using the backup created in step 1 if you want to get back to where you started or just setup your Hermes again from scratch. I know it's a pain in the butt but it does solve the issue
Good luck
No need to Hard Reset. I can connect fine with wifi...just not through media net for some reason...No settings where changes, it just quit one day. Since then I have tried all sorts of different connection settings. I can get my email without any problems, but can't connect to any websites under PIE.
Okay, it definitely has something to do with using the disable cingular proxy and PIE. I have hardbooted my hermes, reloaded the ROM, and everything worked great over medianet. Then I just tried the disable and restore cingular proxy, and the issue just came right back!!! Man, if anybody know whether there's an issue with those two programs, please let me know!!
Anytime I turn off wifi connection and try to connect with 3g after it there´s no application can get any access to internet.
Even softreset or deleting and typing new ISP settings don´t work except hardreset until I turn on wifi and turn it off again.
Really weird!
Can anyone help me please!?
Thanks!
I had an issue recently that sounds very similar. I altered some wi-fi settings, specifically to have a fixed IP address on my home network and when I was away from my network, 3G stopped working.
My fix was to use the wizard to set up my data access again from scratch (Start - Settings - Connections - Connections Setup). After this, everything worked again. Not sure if this'll help, but might be worth a try.
I still don't know why one affected the other, but if I go anywhere near my data settings, it happens and is repeatable.
Problem fixed with original rom
Thanks for answer, but I tried your advice couple of times before.
No result!
but its the same, I have static IP at home too and connection works fine but after disabling wifi no internet connect available.
Now I flashed original HTC rom and I have no problem anymore. It has to deal with the cooked roms of Dutty (both versions v1.7 and v1.8 extreme).
I would like use one of these roms but I have to fix that!
I've had the problem and was fixed by - in connections... "Programs that access the internet use:" was "My work network" -ie wifi.. instead should be "Internet over GPRS"
changing it fixed it.
i find it annoying it should have "Try wifi first, if no access THEN use the Expensive data plan"
I´ve had tried that options too...no result!
But it has to deal with your hint I think. Maybe my settings don´t effect like it does with your handheld. Maybe something´s wrong with writing settings in registry?
I have a same issue.
there´re lot of people having that same issue....
Maybe Dutty by himself is able to give us answer?!
I´ve flashed Dutty´s 1.9 now but I have same issue again.
What´s wrong with my settings?
Same settings worked very well in original htc rom.
What the heck is going on?
Have installed Tom Tom software which works OK but evertime I use it it makes a data connection via Edge or gprs.
How can I stop it?
The same thing happens if I have a wifi connection to my network it also tries to connect via Orange.
How can I stop this as I do not want an unwelcome bill in a while?
If it means disabling something so that I can not connect to internet via gprs that would be fine but seem to be unable to find a setting.
Thanks
Hi
I no expert but sounds like AGPS kicking in. Do you have Location Settings option in "Settings\System"? If yes you can turn this off, if not then dunno, maybe someone else can guide.
You could also install the "HTC No Data" utility, search the threads here or Google it.
Cheers
Proper Job!!!
Seems to have stopped it dialling up with TOM TOM
Just need it to not dial up when using wifi now.
You may wanna try searching for and installing MoDaCo NoData... Works great for me...
Sussed it.
In network settings instead of havung it set to Orange Internet set it to Work Network and works OK.
Proper Job.

Yep, NoData is a great app.
Blocking the internet connection. And saving some battery..
I am running CM6 nightly 08162010, everything seems to be working fine, however, my GPS functions are not working, it will not lock on my location and/or say location currently unavailable. Anyone have this problem and know how to resolve. Please advise. Thanks in advance.
Go to settings, location make sure have both boxes checked. My Aria by default had "Use GPS satellites" unchecked.
If that doesn't work... I don't know.
i've had this for a long time for my kaiser and used it previously on my tilt2.... heres the problem... i've since tried to reinstall on my tilt2 but now it won't use the gps (just keeps scanning bluetooth). normally i would just hook it back up to the computer and re set it all up... but i kinda forgot to back up the program (i just have a copy of my sd card) and i have a new computer.... so now i'm SOL? any help would really be appreciated. i can't really afford to spend any money to fix this....
thanks

You need to enable the GPS Intermediate Driver. Touch the signal strength graph at Garmin XT home screen, select disable bluetooth GPS, touch "use GPS Intermediated Driver" radio button, select done, then accept changes. I would recommend that you use the Quick GPS tool prior to doing the steps above and be sure to have windows manage access to gps automatically (in windows settings menu).
sadly theres no option for that.... when i hit enable/disable it automatically goes to bluetooth. no options. :/
Settings>System>External GPS>Access>(x) Manage GPS automatically>Ok =]
already checked off... hmm
A forum search for "garmin xt intermediate driver" results in a number of hits.

Do you happen to have a trial version?
