Sim Unlock Attachment - Unlock our HD2 without unlocking it? - HD2 General

Was wondering whether anyone's come across this or even tried it on the HD2..
So, the Sim Unlock Attachment (I-SmartSim 2008 for £5.50 on ebay) slides under your SIM card and your handset can then read it.. cool thing is that the handset remains unlocked, so we all get to hold on to our waranty deals..
So, has anyone tried it?
thanks

Anyone? (bumping it up..)

I tried something like it back in the days when i had an (dont know if i eaven dare to say it here ) iphone and that worked well. so i dont see why it shouldnt work on hd2

not using the internet wouldnt be a big problem for me cause i just need to use my Greek sim card when in Greece, and that would be for calls and texts only..
what about the rebel simcard? they even have a youtube video showing it works on an HD2 (even with internet). However this seller (only one result if you search for it on ebay), has one negative feedback from one guy that said it didnt work with their HD2... don't know...

I stuck my Gevey 3G SIm adapter in my HD2 today and it now works on AT&T for voice/SMS. I can confirm the Data is not working. It worked fine when I used to use it on the iPhone 3G back in the days....

I know that you were asking about I-SmartSim 2008 but Rebel Simcard is the one I was talking about. I'm quite sure that they are all the same.Same thing different name. I've tried Rebel Card with my HD2 when I was abroad and it worked all right, except internet. Also my wife had one with Iphone and was ok.Now I unlocked my HD2 and I dont have that problem any more. So maybe for an extra few quid will be better for you to unlock.

These rebel sim cards have been in the market for quite some time.
They seem to work well but you will face hardware problems soon.
First signs would be battery draining. The battery life will drop drastically once you start using it.

mm, that's not good.. but i guess if i want to keep my warranty, shouldnt be too big of a problem coping with poor battery.. it's only for a few weeks every year when abroad...

thanks for that.. dont want to unlock though as T-mobile gave me 2 years cover (the length of the contract) as long as i don't unlock the handset (or hardspl it but there's a way round that )...

HOW CAN i TELL iF MY WIZARD iS UNLOCKED?

hi.. im pretty much a noob.
i bought an MDA off of another forum, and i was wondering if there is a way to tell if they phone is unlocked for like cingular/att GSM. thanks in advance.
Put your Cingular/ATT SIM chip in it and see if it works?
If you don't have an account, buy a cheap pay-as-you-go card with like $20 on it. You'll use it up quickly enough to keep it from going entirely to waste, or you'll have a nice emergency card when you forget to pay your bill.
i do not have another sim card other than t-mobile, and unfortunatly i do not know anybody else who does.
i am trying to sell the phone becuase i dont have service anymore and im trying to pay off the bill so actually BUYING another SIM is kind of an issue...
is there any thing else i could do like maybe on the device to see if it is unlocked.. and if it already IS unlocked and I unlock it again, will that be bad?

No, no harm will be done. Simply get WST (check my signature) and read the CID block and also the SIM condition.
Don't forget to pass by the Wizard's Wiki to know what we're talking about

Search the site. There's lots of threads of people talking about unlocking. I saw one only last night where a guy was recommending someone who did it for him for about £7.

hi mate, ive been in the same hole as you, apaprently my hd2 was too new and had to wait a few weeks for the unlock - my solution - bought a universal/turbo sim off ebay and using that without ANY issues! the way the phone is designed, you dont even need to cut your sim card to fit this in. item number 220538081646 just incase you wanna buy it. best £5 ive spent...

Use Xperia without Sim Card?

Hi people
I jusr recently switched from my beloved HD2 and got an Xperia X10 locked to vodafone Spain
Is there an unlocking solution for this device already?
Is there a way to backdoor meanwhile and be able to use the device without the Sim Card? Since the sim card is not correct it just stands in emergency call option at the bottom and cannot access no syncing options
All help is sincerely appreciated!
So, no answer?
I would love to use mine without SIM

i don't know how it is in spain, but can't you buy just only an prepaid simcard for vodafone? here in holland they are pretty cheap and no need to register your name, adress etc etc, just buy it in store here.
Hmm, actually this is a good idea

Yeah thats exactly what I did this afternoon, until theres a solution it will be fine. Anyhow I found a site link that for 15€ they send u the IMEI code.
Hope that does the trick
In xperia x10 is same Satio in Spain. It needs a sim card because don´t work.
Hi ,
Debranding the phone should resolve this issue with branded devices ,
but i update the firmware to generic version but without succes any advice
Unlock it and you will be able to use it w/o a SIM

Rebel sim problems

Hi
has anyone used a rebel sim yet - im trying mine on a streak (o2) obviously, with a vodafone card. All it does is flash up the dell logo and then reboot....are there different types of rebel sim also.....the chip on mine is to one side whereas all of the videos that ive seen show it as being in the middle so have i got the right one??
thanks to anyone that chips in...
on rebelsim's site they have a specific section for the dell streak, or if you have a generic or older rebel sim they have a programmer dongle to change the mode of the rebel sim chip

Apparently he's filled out the form and been told itll take 10 days...i do have another come-back - im off on hols in 6 weeks to florida - so if i cant then ill pick one up there sim free....
Treble 4 - does your rebel sim card have the chip at the top/in the middle. Mine has the chip at the top and to the side - do i even have the right rebel sim card....does it need programming or something??

I think you have the wrong rebel sim buddy, the only i have has the little black chip at the top in the centre....
Cant see how it would stop your device from booting up though unless it is short circuiting the bootprocess somehow?
well, as i said earlier (or in another post) they were un helpful, pretty abrupt and theres no where on their site that i can find to get a swap out/returns address. (unless any one can find the link).
Its not so bad anyway as the guy that i bought it from told me that he bought it outright and has applied to o2 for an unlock code and has chased it up and has been assured that he should have one anytime soon....fingers crossed.
I hope he gets one because he will be the first.....

dont bother with paypal they turned me down flat
why isnt possible unlock with program or other method?
Well, not out of the woods yet....the guy i bought it from had a mail back from o2 this morning. They basically said that theyre not prepared to unlock it (even though he bought it outright) for 3 months from the purchase date, so, technically ive got to wait until the start of september. He's obviously complaining and im trying to ask a favour of our o2 sales rep ( we use a corporate blackberry server, phones and dongles through them at my workplace ) - he's put the request in but said "have to see what comes back..."
Fingers still crossed....at its worst ill have to wait 6 weeks for a code...but i cant see what the hassle is as he bought it outright in the first place.

"Your sim card does not allow a connection to this network"

I just got this message on my phone and I have no idea how to fix it, I searched Google and tried just about everything I can. If I take my sim card out and put it in another phone if works great, I put it back in this phone and it doesn't work. Ive tried manually searching network, nothing. I've tried reflashing carbon ROM stock kernel and radio, nothing. I've tried toggling airplane mode, nothing. Wtf is going on here? I like this phone but I've never had so much trouble with a phone.

Sorry I think you may need to do a factory reset. Try backing up as much as you can off the phone and do the reset. GL My wife's touch 4g had the same issue when switching sim cards from her work blackberry to the touch 4g. Because the phone was brand new, there was no issue in doing a factory reset with the sim card installed.

its a real micro sim card, and i tried the resetting thing. no luck.
i just got off chat with tmobile and they said its due to the fact of non payment (i guess i shouldnt buy a phone from craigslist anymore)
so i assume theres no fix for this

bad choice buddy , should have bought it straight from google ORRR , asked the owner for the imei so you can check if its clean , im a big craigslist person too , but you have to check things like that , i bought a xbox 360 for cheap that was in mint condition but it was console banned for hacking/piracy reasons.
EDIT tmobile is cracking down on people who buy phones for cheap on a contract and dont finish paying , they will block your phone from their networks.

Wow that sucks. So does that mean the IMEI is blacklisted on tmo for non payment? Did the tmo chat say anything about new owner and such?

tmobile wont care if you claim to be a "new owner" or if you even tell them you bought it from someone who jacked you off , if its blacklisted he's out of luck , the best choice he has is to contact tmobile and check the IMEI

Hi there...
just got my Nexus yesterday. I'm from Brazil and a friend of mine got it from Play Store (unlocked, I guess). Here we have 4 main carriers, mine is OI. My Sim card works great in other devices (tested on Iphone 4S and Galaxy SIII). The device shows all 4 carriers, but when I tap on "OI", I got the same topic message.
Any ideas???
