A simple but important question:
Do You changed your original ROM to a self-made?
Yes?
What ROM did You use? (Link would be fine)
why You flashed your ROM?
do you experience more performance?
known problems?
would You recommend it?
No?
do you think about doing it?
bad experience with doing it?
Yes, I changed.
1. Touch of HD 2.2 Full Edition.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=460640
2. Because I had to choose one and this seemed to be good choice. (And it was!
3. Yes, my hd seems to work faster.
4. So far I haven't noticed any problems. Sometimes the device won't show thumbnails of pictures in file explorer but it's not a big deal as you need just to change folder and all is fine.
5. Yes, it is worth testing. You should not be disappointed.
No:
1. I do think about changing rom but since I have customised and performance tweaked my HD already I wonder what a cooked rom will do. I know a cooked rom will likely perform better than official but what about a tweaked official with all your customisation and performance tweaks. What's the advantage?
2. Not tried yet.

Exactly my opinion! This post could be mine
What's the advantage? Want to know it too, thats why i opened this thread!
Not YET, but I will later. I would like to be completely familiar with the stock ROM first in order to be able to have a good feel on whether there is improvement.
Honestly, I'm so satisfied with the stock ROM already. Don't seem to experience the problems that some describe, such as it beign slow, etc. I have no freeze after about 10 day of use so far, I find it very very fast.
I do want to flash a cooked ROM because I hope to see improvements in a few areas:
a) inability to make SIM contact hiding registry change stick. I understand that at least one of the cooked ROM has fixed this.
b) occassional stutters in music playing. Not sure if this problem is fixed in cooked ROM.
c) When selecting album, the storage card entry will show up only after I have selected ALL, wait for a while, then go back to reselect. Even then, the Storage Card entry does not always show up. Not sure if any cooked ROM has fixed this yet.
d) I don't like having the battary icon on the TF3D taskbar. I like it to show the date/time instead. Not sure if cooked ROM has fixed this.
e) The standard ROM has switched off the screen orientation UI switch. One needs to switch it on before we're able to assign Rotate Screen to a hardware key. I understand that at least one of the cooked ROM has rectify this.
f) I never like HTC task manager, and had always used Wktask in the past. If the cooked ROM uses Wktask and disable HTC task manger on today screen, I would consider it a plus.
g) I don't like the default calculator skin either but I never use this simplistic calculator anyway. Having a proper skin is nice though. After trying out Panomaric Calc, I think I'm going to stick with it.
h) I wish pressing hardware button twice does not result in dialing the last dialed number as it does now. I know we can lock the device to prevent this from happening while the device is in our pocket. However, once the phone is unlocked, it is easy to dial the last number without me realising it. I wonder if any of the ROM addresses this issue.
i) TF3D color. I wish we have an easy way to frequently change color for every tab, not just the home tab. I also love to see the 3D glassy taskbar and bottom bar back. If anyone know of any ROM that has that, please share here. I know I can flash all of them and find out for myself, but would be nice to know from those who have already tried.
j) I wish the TF3D music program is able to assign songs to a playlist more efficiently. ATM, I have to show the music on the screen, then click menu/add to playlist. This is too laborious. Or perhaps there is an easier way that I'm unaware of?
That's all I can think of ATM. I'm sure it's a matter of time before some of the cooked ROMs make these improvements.
So, I definitely will flash, but don't know when and which ROM yet.
1. Dutty's v1.1 HD Rom
2. Because I'm a flash-a-holic, and Dutty's been making incredibly fast and stable roms for a long time. Based on new 1.19 official rom, which has bug fixes and Dutty has tweaked performance.
3. Hard to say. Except for the annoying freeze problem, I've been fairly happy all along. Mainly, I trust Dutty -- the hodge-podge of settings I was using didn't seem as stable.
4. Only one - once in a blue moon, closing a lot of programs individually & sequentially from the home screens top right task manager button will freeze the device. Another user said this was reproducable, and Dutty is tracking it down...
5. Oh, heck yeah!
In conclusion i must say, that im not convinced yet...
Someone who knows the device good enough should just Hard reset the device and customize and tweak it for his own, with the applications he or she likes and the tweaks he knows (!). This way he or she will get a device completly known by the user.
BackUp this state so you can go to it back everytime you want. TADAAAA you have YOUR personal perfect device ROM
I'm Kinda new to the forum and have only recently tried to add new apps and stuff to my X1.
There is a lot of information here about various versions of TF3D/Manilla and if I'm honest there is a little too much and I'm a bit lost amongst it all.
I should state that I have successfully installed a version of TF3D from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=442154
but have since removed it due to 1 or 2 issues (worst of which was really slow performance when looking at the photo albumn and not being able to see photos taken with the camera on the pictures tab). So I thought I'd ask for some advice before re-trying.
Question 1.
Which is the best version to install from a stability/features included point of view. Also I am not confident with burning a new ROM so would prefer just a .cab instrall.
Question 2.
For the install recomended is there a way to have it as a seperate panel rather than a today screen replacement. Are there any drawbacks to installing as a panel?
Question 3.
Are there any issues when switched to lanscape mode? (there was on the version I used) if so which modification would be compatable with the one recomended.
Finally if there are any other recomendations you have, for example, further modifications to make the TF3D experience more pleasurable, should I not worry about rom flashing and are there any alternatives to TF3D which could give me the polished interface i am looking for.
Cheers all

Thanks but that leads me to one of the things i was confusedf about.
In the TF3D in Landscape mode thread it is stated that support for the app has been discontinued due to the release and porting of Manilla 2. So should I be using that? if so where can I get it?
Thanks to Sonny
Just wanted to bump this post to see if there was any other advice out there.
I did find the x-panel which look like it may have potential but just wasn't feature filled enough yet.
Cheers
Try TF3D 2 Beta 3
Ah! Just had a ton of pop-ups and now have to type all of this out again..!
Okay, will try to keep it short this time.
Try Daran_Clarke's TF3D 2 (Beta 3). It's taken from the new HTC Touch Pro 2. It includes the official HTC landscape view which works very well. You can install the CAB from here...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=448178
Some advice though. The Right Softkey function gets changed when you install this so the function is to take you to the Today screen, rather than the option above it on the screen (such as Contacts or Menu etc). You can change the Button settings but whenever you restart the machine, this gets reverted back, so that it takes you to the Today screen.
Himuraken was kind enough to point me in the direction of a .dll file which corrects this problem. It's called ManilaToday.dll. There will already be a file named this in the Windows directory on your phone, which you will need to delete. You can't delete this from your PC using ActiveSync. You need to use the FileExplorer on your X1 and browse to the Windows directory. Once there, select 'Menu' then 'Show All Files'. It may take a minute or so to display anything because there are so many files there. Delete ManilaToday.dll and then use ActiveSync to copy the new one across to that same location (Windows directory). You might need to set the Right Softkey button function to Right Softkey, but then when you restart it will keep this setting. You can get the new ManilaToday.dll from here...

Now just if someone could make a Panel for this new TF3D 2! May be awkward tho, as I think there is a new Panel Manager with the new R3AA roms. The Panels designed for that don't work on R2 roms, such as the Growing Panel. So we need someone to make a Panel for this on both the new and old Panel manager! Doubt it'll happen though, and I doubt I'll have the R3AA rom for quite some time. O2 in the UK took literally about 5 months to release the R2 rom!

Sonny
Thanks again to Sonny I'll probably try that next.
I had i little bit of success with the original Touch-it install now though. I istalled the version 2 of the album app which seems to work much quicker that what is packaged in the Full CAB.
I still have 1 issue tho i wonder if anyone can help?
I want to be able to see all my pictures on the Photos and Videos tab without having to use album app. Currently only images in the my pictures tab display, I'd like to see images that have been taken with the camera whether they are stored in mypicture/camera/100xperia or on the memory card /dcim/100xperia/.
Is there anyway to change this?
Nevermind I sorted it now. Everything is working nice.
Now if only the lanscape app would work properly it would be perfect. Maybe a move to the install Sonny suggested will give me everything I'm after

That's provided you're using Beta 2 or earlier of the TF3D cab.
Hi all,
Newbie here
EX iPhone 3g user now HD user
I would like to ask, is it possible to change the People Tab on the HD to one like on the Touch Pro2 as an example.
I would prefer to have squares of faces than the flip faces that there are now.
all the best...
Any help is appreciated.
chill.
If I understand you correctly, you are referring to the difference in Contact tabs between Manila 2.1 (also known as HTC's TouchFlo 3D), and Manila 2.5 (known as HTC Sense), which will come out on the new HTC devices such as the Leo (also known as the Touch HD2).
As far as I know, the only way to use the new interface is to flash a ROM that has Manila 2.5.
I currently use Dutty's Leo R6 with WM6.5 and Manila 2.5. I really like it.
You can find it here. You'll have to register to be able to download it.
BTW - Welcome to the forum!!!!!!
Thanks Chris Cross,
This is what I am looking for.
Hope I have explained it right.
Not sure what Manilla 2.1 or 2.5 are, but thanks.
If I was to install the Dutty rom, would I loose any features ? Could I return to Original rom if I needed ?
Sorry for too many questions..
chill....
Yes, that is a picture of Manila 2.5.
Okay, I'll explain what Manila is.
Windows Mobile phones have a generic windows interface. HTC came up with their own layout and called it Manila. The more common name was TouchFlo. First was TouchFlo 2D, then came TouchFlo 3D, and now the new one is called HTC Sense (I guess they wanted to change the name now. ). In terms of your phone, you will see that the name Manila is still used (for example in registry settings etc.).
So, when you start your phone, it automatically goes into the Manila layout from HTC. In other words, the whole concept of having the slider at the bottom which takes you to the different tabs (and each of their sub-menus) etc.. is the Manila interface. Other Windows Mobile phones that are not from HTC don't have that (unless they have tried to copy the concept).
So, Manila version 2.1 (=TouchFlo 3D) had a Contacts tab with the little slider on the right, to switch between contacts (or you could flip through them too). Now, Manila 2.5 (which ships with the new HTC phones) changed that layout to look like what you are referring to - i.e. the big square pictures. You see 9 right away, and if you flip up, then 6 more appear for a total of 15. That is just one of the layout changes that are new in Manila 2.5. You will also see a new change in the Home tab, where below the clock, you now have Quick Links. They also look like squares and you can link them to a contact or a program for quick access directly from the home tab. Like I said, there are several new changes like that in Manila 2.5
I'll leave it at that for now. I need to stop for a second, but I'll come back to this same post and give you some info on flashing a new rom.
EDIT: see post below for info on flashing roms

Flashing a new rom means that you will completely erase the entire drive on the phone and you will install a brand new system. So... yes, you will lose everything that is in the internal storage (but not in the SD card).
You can go back to the rom your phone came with (referred to as a "stock" rom). To do that, you would have to flash (= install) the stock rom, and once again, you would lose everything you have at that point and you would end up with your phone as it came out of the box.
There is also backup software you can buy to backup all your programs, files etc.. in case you ever flash the stock rom again and you want things the way they are today. As far as I know, you cannot (or at least - should not) use that backup file on a rom other than the one that was installed when the backup file was created.
I have had my HD for 11 months. I flashed a new rom for the first time about 2 weeks after buying my HD. I think it is totally worth it. There are a lot of rom cooks out there that do a great job at making solid, stable roms. Dutty is definitely among the most well known and respected for the quality of work he does. He tries to keep his roms as close to stock as possible, but he makes changes that improve the speed and overall user-friendliness of the rom.
You do have to keep in mind, that if you flash a new rom with Manila 2.5 and Windows Mobile 6.5, some things might not work 100% right away because those are new releases. Dutty is constantly updating his rom to fix any known issues. Whenever an update is made, you flash that updated rom - and once again it means you lose your settings. But, the benefits of having a nicer rom outweigh the cons of having to set up your phone as you like it again. Eventually, the rom becomes really stable and you can go months without needing to flash anything.
If you are interested in flashing Dutty's new rom, let me know and I can give you links that explain how to do that.
All sounds very interesting. I'll chew on this a little.
Its not like I am unhappy with the HD, but just the People tab is a little frustrating to use.
I'll have a good look over at the roms section, and if I do give it a shot, I'll be knocking
I have flashed a HTC Touch before. A bit scary doing it, but went OK in the end.
The phone was freezing up, and was out of warrenty, so nowt to lose.
If its a similar process, then not to scary after all.
thanks
chill......
Yeah, it's the same thing. It's not too scary, but you just have to make sure you read about how to do it the first time, so that you don't make big mistakes. Technically, you could turn your phone into a brick (i.e. permanently dead), but that's really only if you somehow cut power to the phone during the process (e.g. if you unplug the cord or start with a low battery). If you just follow the steps - you'll be fine, and it will take about 10 minutes of actual flashing time. Once you have done it, you realize it is no big deal.
Check out the ROM threads - especially this tutorial!!! Depending on what type of ROM you have right now, you might need to do extra steps before flashing a newer version ROM. It is all explained in that tutorial. And Dutty's latest Leo R6 ROM can be found here. You can follow any developments or bug reports and fixes etc. regarding Dutty's Leo ROM in this thread.
Also, you might want to look and see if your stock ROM is available for download (in case you later want to go back to it - but I doubt you will). You can also go back to other stock ROMs if you want.
Just ask if you have questions.
Thanks a lot.
I've only been here 5 minutes and all this help. Nice place here.
There are Lots of Roms, so would need to chose carefully. I have been trying SPB Mobile Shell, which is quite nice. Not a full replacement rom, but a nice touch.
Thanks again, I will read on.

Since I've never used one, I am not too familiar with freeware for it. But, I did find this website. Their program "Avatar" might be what you are looking for. The author also has a thread for Avatar on XDA Forums. It definitely seems worth the try.

Hi, I'm new to this site and have a couple questions. I'v been mostly interested in making my Imagio look more colorful haha, adding new icons, sliders, taskbars and whatnot. I'd like to find a Backround in all tabs cab or a easy tutorial to do this but I cant find it, Iv searched many, many sites and tried a couple cabs and cant find anything! . One of the cabs made my phone inoperable and i had to clear my phone and the other messed with my clock. Can anybody point in the right direction. I'm guessing i have Manila 2.5? I dont even know how to check..Its stock, no ROM or anything. Any help appreciated.
I guess a good place to start would be to look at your manila version.
Go to your "Settigngs" tab, then scroll to the bottom and look in the About Section, for your Software versions.
I can't say for sure, but in theory it's still just Manila. Perhaps Max Manila will work on the Imagio? If you don't mind risking another hard-reset you might want to give it a try. I'd have a go but I don't have an Imagio
Max Manila can be found here in the Blackstone Themes and Apps section. Choose the version of Max Manila that matches your Manila version and let us all know how you go.
yah ill defiantly give it a try, Iv done about 10 hard resets over the last 2 days messing with different apps and tweaks, loading now...and I just realized I have 2.1, I have the scroll bar and everything but I don't have those 4 extra tabs and thats 2.5 right? I tried 2.5 yesterday and went back to 2.1, I think..which is stock version if i'm not mistaken? I liked the interface and everything but it was to slow for me, Ill wait till the official version comes out. But seems as every backround for all tabs cab, it'll work for the backround but there's always something else it messes up. Ill post a pic of my Device Info, not sure which is related to the version of Manila. Whats up with the radio version too, any out there worth upgrading too?
Hey guys, I've been having a very annoying issue since updating to the latest energyrom April 1st 25344 build that I never had previously. After updating (I was previously using the March 26th build w/ no issues) I have noticed a sharp downgrade in resolution and graphics (wallpaper, text) on my home screen, including slider graphics and text.
The graphics and resolution are perfect on the lock screen and start menu, just the resolution on the home screen is the issue. When I switch the theme to windows default titanium, the graphics and resolution on the home screen becomes crisp and clear....switch back to htc sense and no matter what wallpaper I use, etc., the graphics and text become blurry/poor.
Please refer to the links to example pictures below:
Perfect resolution/graphics on lock screen - crisp and clear
http://s77.photobucket.com/albums/j73/Darkjin/?action=view¤t=ScreenShot2.jpg
Same background using home screen using Titanium - crisp and clear
http://s77.photobucket.com/albums/j73/Darkjin/?action=view¤t=ScreenShot3.jpg
Same background using HTC sense w/ nrgrom Apr 1 - pixelated poor resolution
http://s77.photobucket.com/albums/j73/Darkjin/?action=view¤t=ScreenShot1.jpg
I have tried everything I can think of to try to correct this and get back my crisp and clear home screen when using htc sense theme. I have even re-flashed to different energyrom builds, completely different custom roms, and even flashed back to the stock rom found on these forums (2.10.0). The home screen graphics downgrade stays even when I flash to those various roms! Before I updated to the newest energyroms, everything was crystal clear. This all happened right after I updated to the new April 1st build. I've posted numerous times on the energyrom thread, but no one seems to know what the issue is.
A few other notes: Before I flash I have ran task 29 format, and after flashing the custom rom, I've made sure no apps, fonts, etc were installed. Nothing I do seems to fix this issue. I'm using a T-Mo US htc hd2 w/ hspl2.
Please, if anyone is experiencing similar issues or know of any fixes any help would be greatly appreciated. I really don't want to have to keep using titanium as my main theme just so I can have some crisp resolution and graphics on the home screen =(
I don't mean to address something off-topic here, but I'm interested in finding the theme, ROM, or .CAB file you used to redesign the standardized lock screen.
Care to enlighten me? Thanks.
Otherwise, I don't have any input for your problem... trust me, if I knew... I'd be more than willing to offer assistance.
there is a 3d driver u need to install but its the same on any rom... i use an all blk screen so there is no notice till the weather updates to the sun being full then u can see it but we all experience it but if u dont seach no one will help u..... look for the 3d driver for the hd2 i hav found it for the hd1 and ive seen it for the hd2 but its no biggie to me i hav and all blk theme...remember hd2 3d driver ... goodluck with that

I don't mind letting you know what I did. First off, I use a custom energyrom. It's one of, if not the most popular custom rom for the htc hd2 (all versions meaning USA and international). The lock screen you see is built into the newer versions of the energy custom roms...meaning you don't need a .cab, etc to separately install it if you choose to use this rom. You can download energyrom here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=591784
You don't need to search for a tmo-US version...all of his roms work on US hd 2's...he just left the tmobile stock folder (cabs) out (you can dl those cabs separately, there is a specific thread with the stock tmo us cabs in the forums).
If you want to stay stock or are using a different custom rom that doesn't have the lock screen feature, you can find the necessary .cab file to install this feature here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=637671
Scroll down the page and you should see the dl link for it amongst the tweaks. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the tip buddy but I've always had chainfire's drivers when using energyrom. Are you sure that is the issue? That was one of the programs that I auto-installed using the built in xda uc feature in energyrom after flashing. Even without it, the home screen graphics have always been crisp and clear so I doubt it has anything to do with that.
When I re-flashed back to the stock rom, I still had the low-res home screen...and chainfire's drivers are not needed for the stock rom...it's more tailored to help when playing gl games and watching videos (for stuttering, etc).
Thanks for trying to help...I really have searched all day for any answers...trust me..anyone else have any other ideas? Currently I have used task 29 format, re-flashed to stock rom, and have absolutely nothing installed on the device...but the low res home screen graphics have remained.
sigh..
Seeing how you look like the only person in the world with this issue , I wanted to chime in saying that I have the same problem. I am using a Telstra HD2 and have been on Energyrom for a long time. I tried the same steps you did... I even flashed the stock Telstra ROM from storage card- which theoretically should blow everything away but I still saw the same issue. Since this was the old Telstra ROM, I was shocked. Then, I reflashed HSPL, and new roms, but to no avail. Hope someone at least recognizes the issue and comes up with a solution.
i am on the STOCK Tmo US rom and i have had pixelated fonts from the very start. it bothered me the first day and then i forgot about it until i saw this thread. now it bugs me again
kind of sucks, pixelated fonts on this gorgeous screen.

Yea...I hear ya. I think I might know what the issue is...but I'm not positive yet. I believe nrg did some compression with the graphics on the April 1st rom, to increase performance. While I was using the March 26th build, I had been using hd wall because I wanted to use a nice high-res background that was fully transparent at the very top and bottom portions of the screen. Since I didn't want to go though the trouble of making my own hd wall screens...I had been using pre-made hd wallpaper (.cabs) from here ->
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=601369
I installed the HQwallpaperpatch, than downloaded the .cab file of the wallpaper I liked along with the original wallpaper. I made sure to set the original picture as my background, than installed the .cab to get the transparent top and bottom portions of my homescreen.
I believe due to the compression that was done in nrg's Apr 1st builds, the hd wallpaper patch/wallpapers were no longer working like they were in the previous builds. So if you would like you could try to revert to a previous build, download hdwallpatch and try one of the .cabs from that link..it may work. When I get the time I will try it myself and post if it worked or not.
I came to this conclusion after I saw my friend's htc hd2 on stock rom. I was very surprised to see that his home screen was a bit pixelated....so I thought to myself...maybe it was because I was using the hdwallpatch and hdwallpaper that I had a crisp high-res home screen. Maybe the home screen was always a bit pixelated and I had just not noticed...
Hope that made sense!
