htc hd2, who's using voice command\recognition software? - HD2 General

ive tried the voice command software that came with my hd2. and works really well. i cant get it to compose a text message or email... does the preinstalled voice command allow us to compose a text message by voice? are you guys using tell me? which app is the best app for controlling media, text messages, opening programs, calling contacts, viewing appoinments etc with the hd2?
Thank You

Voice cammand is great, Tellme not so much
Voice command, as you may have already learned, works great with no training. You can voice dial, control media playback, hear your next appointment, and have callers annouced through your BT. Absolutely essential for me while driving. It will not allow you to dictate texts however. Thats really the piece that I was hoping Tellme would fill in, but it just doesn't seem to work as advertised on their website. To be fair, I've never seen it used on a device that came with it installed. It might work like a champ on those handsets, but it's never worked at all for me.
EDIT: I see you can't edit the title of your post. . .

Voicecommand not announcing bluetooth?
Crissg. In your reply you mention Microsoft Voicecommand announcing callers in bluetooth headset. Have you gotten that feature to work? I tried to get it to announce calls through bluetooth for two days with no success. Does yours work. If so how did you set it up.

Voice Command
Hi! As a "newby", I can't find any voice command on my HD2. Is it buried somewhere or was it a download. I'm in GB with Vodafone. LOVE MY HD2!!
Thanks!!!

wlm... start, settings, menu, all settings, personal, voice command.
in regards to settings as wlm wrote. is it ok for us to make a folder named control panel, and cut all our settings programs and move them to the control panel folder? anyone do this before?

Not sure. Making a folder with shortcuts to the setting might work, but personally I wouldn't think about moving that stuff from where it lives.

It is a download. Do a search and you will find plenty.

I can make the VC work on the phone just fine, but I have an ANT in the car, for BT.
When I try to talk with no car noise, or with car noise, the phone goes stupid, does nothing, well, beeps some kind of talk back, like dumb ass I did not understand you

Tried everything to get bluetooth voice announce
Crissg, I have checked the box to announce calls actually spent two days with Tmobile tech trying to get Voicecommand to announce over bluetooth but no luck. That is why I was wondering if you have this working on your phone. If so did you do any registry changes. I tried everything

Hi CRISSG,
Thanks - tried to locate it, but it's not there. Must be a download. Is the one you are using a WM app? IF so, where did you find it? There seem to be many apps - some with real problems, and I don't want to go that route!! HTC HD2, on Vodafone.. THANKS!!!!!!!

It is there in the T-Mobile US ROM, my understanding is that not all ROMs include it by default.

It came preinstalled

Looks like the files are in the Windows directory of the device. I'm not educated enough to pull it out in a usable fashion. Have you checked the ROM threads? Possibly one of the chefs has already cabbed it up?
I just realized that I'm almost always the one doing the calling from the car, and I hadn't actually recieved a call on the new HD2 (while driving) to verify the annoucement function yet. I just tested it, and it is ringing in the s9 headset, but annoucement comes over the speaker. Interesting. Commands for calls and media and calendar are working fine. As soon as I can get my wife off her phone, I'll get her to text me while I've got the headset on to test that as well.
Edit: It plays the assigned sound for recieving a text over the headset, but is not announcing the message like it did on my Tilt. Sorry if I gave the impression that it was. Like I said, I use it every day, but I make way more calls than I recieve when I'm in the car. Now I'm with you guys wondering why we've lost funtions that we had before.
Edit #2 Was just in the car, and got a text. It was announced through my Jabra earpiece. So it might have something to do with the BT profile being used, as annoucements didn't work with the s9 that I use around the house.

another HD2 n00b
I have been trying for a few days no to get voice set up. I too am UK with vodafone. No voice buit in. I have bought retail MS voice command 1.6 and it fails to install. Cyberon voice speed dial installs. The next problem I have is that, I want to be able to trigger voice calls vial my bluetooth headset. (plantronics 370 explorer) Neither this or my old Jawbone bt headset will trigger voice calls.
I really want to get the MS voice command to work as it looks great and ou don't need to train it. Any help really appreciated..

For all the uk users just do a Google search for microsoft msvc 1.6.21725
I am using this on my HD2 with no problems.
Announcements of callers doesn't work though.

Thats great thanks for this. Appeared to install fine. Not sure if it insatlled right though. I can find it in setting>other>voice command. Looks only to be settings in here. I can't get it to run or prompt for voice.

try pressing and holding the green send key

Thanks for this. I have a green "Talk" button when in phone. Pressing this or long press just call the last number.
The button on my Jawbone activate the voice, which is cool, but the button on the plantronics explorer still does nothing. I guess it is something incompatible with this. Typical eh as this is my favourite headset for out walking. It is great on a windy day.

Microsoft Voice Command V 1.5 On JasJar NOGO

Can anyone tell me of a way to get MS voice command v1.5 to work on the JasJar. I can install it but it does not work right. You can play the media player, however if you try to say call "whoever" the contacts comes up and its blank. If anyone has seen this issue please let me know.
Thanks,

Are your contacts on your SIM or in your devices phone book?
Works fine here by the way.
I have the same problem
Stu
They are on the phone not the sim. This is Windows Mobile 2005 not 2003

right, the contact summery comes up but it's empty - the content of the notice field you can see - and you can say "yes" and voice command is calling your contact.
MS Voice Command 1.5 is not supported for WM5

MDApro
It is a bit sketchy
I can launch programs great, i can call people fine. change brightness.volume and I get announcements such as battery is running out
the only things that don't work is showing contacts and hearing the spoken callerid.
It is going to come down to waiting for an update
I thought mine was working fine too with WM5 but after several days of resets and minor other problems, I finally cleared the device and didn't reinstall VC and now it runs a lot better. so bottom line... VC 1.5 causes problems on the universal... although it seems to work ok.
Uninstall MSVC
Anybody know how I can uninstall it, and get it out of my settings control panel. I used the .cab installation.
I had to use the Erase memory icon in Programs... it clears the entire unit and sets back to factory defaults.
Please anybody try VITO Voice2Go on JasJar. It's a new voice control application for Pocket PC. Supports all languages.
I personally use this program on my i-mate Jam, and it works fine. Want to khow how does it works with Universal.

MSVC and Contacts
Has anybody overcome this problem? I just revisited this, and it does appear to work for everything, including dialing the contacts.... but.... I cannot get it to show a given contact. It will open the contacts list, even repeat back the phone numbers its dialling, but will not show the contacts individual details, at all.
Any feedback? Perhaps delete all contacts, and resynchronise them all?
Regards
Simon
It must be just the Jasjar as I had WM2005 on the XDA II and never had a problem.
I couldn't even get the US Version to work, I eventually got the UK version on and working but I have the empty screen issue in contacts.
Voice Command works fine for me. The contact is blank, but the program itself works fine
Well I guess it's better than nothing! I was always under the impression that Voice Command was actually integrated into WM5; seems not.
Hopefully 1.6 will address these issues...
Voice command work well with the 1.51
I have cyberon speed dial installed by default on XDA Exec, it works fine
Am I right in saying that "cyberon" is not the same as VC, you have to record something for every contact you want to use it with.
When you have alot of contacts, even the thought of doing this is stupid, maybe if it was just your family including Grandma that would be fine but when your running a business and your ringing different people all day.........
Maybe I am wrong, i have never used it......

I feel the same way, I did a Google search and nothing, what is 1.51, are you trying to manipulate us into thinking there is a fix to our problems bought on by micro$oft.
Please let us know.......
Oddly it worked perfectly on my dodgy beta WM5 on my BlueAngel :S

Voice Command won't dial on the MDA

Whenever I use MS Voice Command, it'll recognize my dial command and take me to the contact, but then it craps out. I'm using the phrase 'call John Smith'. This is only for contact with a single location phone number.
However, whenever I try to dial a contact with multiple locations (Home, Mobile, etc.) it works after prompting for the location.
Has anyone else seen this?
I just did a hard reset and only installed MS Voice Commander. This still happens. So it's not a conflicting program.
WTF? Am I the only one here?
Alright...
First, I have 8125, not MDA.
Now that that is outta the way.
In your voice command settings (Start > Setting > Personal TAB > Voice Command)
Under the "Phone" settings, what is checked?
If "confirm when calling by name" is checked then you need to say YES when it says "call John Smith?" If you don't hear it saying that then maybe its on silent. I also had an issue with the stock 8125 ROM (because it was soooo slow) That it asked me "Call John Smith?" but took a second or two to open the contact info on screen, and it wouldn't accept the answer I gave it till the contact was open. So I had to wait a second or two after it asked before I could answer it.
Just somethings you can check out. GL getting it solved, and if it NEW then maybe exchange it, just in case you have a faulty mic (doubt it) or something.
Later; Lew
I always have a hard time getting VC to work. Just uninstall and reinstall until it works... That's about it. Sometimes it takes me 2 or 3 times.
is this good program?
I saw a blurb on voice command....is this one of those must have programs for my 8125? Will it work through the bluetooth headset? What doesn't it do that will keep me from wanting to install it?

MUST HAVE! Yes, it will work through headset. Just need to do a little tweak (at least on the TMo MDA) so that the headset button activates VoiceCommand.
The only downside is that you will look like an idiot walking around talking to yourself. "Call Bob Brown. Mobile phone. Yes, go ahead and dial the number, please." "What time is it?" etc.
Is there a trial version out?

[REQ] Voicemail stand alone application

I wonder if there is an application that would pick up my phone after some rings, and plays a message and people can drop a message.
So I will have a voicemailbox with recorded messages which I can point and click at, save them, listen again, etc. Just recorded als .mp3 on internal storage. Maybe even callback options, sms-back options etc.
I really hate dialling that voicemailbox number, choosing 1 and 2 to listen messages. I have no overvieuw of messages etc.
The app looks fairly simple to me. Does it exist already?
You're searching for some kind of on-device visual voice mail
I would really like to see this at this moment my voicemail is nothing more than a question to mail me or sms me but most people do not like that
one question when your phone is off or you are out of range what would you like another app to take it over?
This is a nice idea...
See it more as a secretary app. instead of a voicemail app.
Where you're in your car and you don't / can't talk.
Perhaps something with different messages you can choose from (you need to make them yourself?)
Something like "Hello this is <insert name>, I'm driving at the moment, please leave a message after the beep" *beep* The person leaves a message that will be saved as mp3 file for example.
@WvanWaas
When out of range, your 'standard' voicemail will take over.
But when in meetings, or as said, driving, it would be nice that the persons message can be stored on my device.
The ultimate thing would be that this program can dial my voicemail, automaticcally send DTMF tones (time and pattern), and store eventually new voicemailmessages locally. The number of new voicemails on my network is available (since manila uses it too).
With Telfort home-phone, I get emails with .mp3s of voicemail messages (VOIP). Thats really good.
With vodafone UK I was using vodafone mail - voicemails automatically appeared as emails with WAV attachments.
Was very handy
There dont exist any programs?
the only app is isecretary. it doesnt work on diamond though
I use www.youmail.com and also wrote a simple client to parse through my emails and just list my voicemails in a UI.
Youmail also does speech to text transcription so you don't even have to play the sound file-- just read it.
It not for outside US I guess...
It looks promising...
It exists for Nokia phones
I have not found an application as such for the diamond but I know that it exists for Nokia. With the Nokia N95 there is a built in application that works as a voicemail. Of course only when there is coverage and the phone is working.
The application picks up the call after some time (configurable) and plays a greeting message that you have previously recorded and after the beep, the caller can record his message. The application saves that recording and whenever you are available you can playback that message.
Hope to find one for Diamond.
Yup, my T-Mobile voicemail charges are silly, plus I'd like to have more control and functionality from my voicemail. An included blacklist filter would be handy too.
I have a Touch Pro (Raphael).. Is there really nothing around at the moment that will work? That's kind of strange.
Just kick this one up once more ...
This type of app could cause some expensive long distance charges if you were outside of your local calling area though, no? I'm thinking your phone would need to be connected to the call in order to record an .mp3 voice message locally on the device, whereas carrier voicemail can be received regardless of where you are anywhere in the world without costing you as the user a fee to receive a message.
I see that Touch HD can record calls.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=457808&page=4
A simple application which auto-answers, plays a file, records a message and nicely puts them in a list, so I have total controll of my voicemessages?
That would be well killer-app... I'd pay for it, simply because I need it.
i realy want this app too!!!!!
Sounds nice to me as well
+1 here....

X1 saying name of caller when phone rings

On my Nokia N95 it would say the name of the person calling me. Can you do this on the X1 ?
do you mean like displaying the name of the person, even if their not saved in your contact list? like how the caller id does on a home phone?

No, the phone would speak out the name of the person calling. So if Joe Blogs called my on my N95 I would hear 'ring, ring, Joe Blogs, ring ring, Joe Blogs...........'
well...back on my blackjack II, i remember when i upgraded from wm 6.0 to 6.1, there was a new program up there called "Voice Command" that allowed you to do this. So I'm guessing it'd still work on the X1 since its an official microsoft program. So just try googling "Windows Voice Command"
Yes, get "Microsoft Voice Commad" and check the settings. By default it should be set to bluetooth only, but you can change it so it reads the name even without the bluetooth. I like it a lot with bluetooth, cause you can set it to also read your text to you
Yeah, but I can't find an answer if the BT on the X1a and MSVC has the same issue as on the Touch Pro, where if you have it say the name of the incoming caller, it won't. You get a corruption sound. Normally that a bell sound. So normally you get "<your ringtone> and in the background of the ringtone, you hear "you got a call from 888-8888"" Or instead of the phone#, you hear the name if its in your address book.
When its broken, you hear your ringtone and in the background a small beep"
here is the link: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/downloads/microsoft/about-voice-command.mspx
give it a try and let us know.
even i like that feature on nokia phones
My Voice Command doesn't work properly on incoming calls either. It doesn't say the name of the caller, or even the telephone number. I have seen it work perfectly on an Omnia. Odd that it doesn't work on the X1!

You need MS Voice Command or something similar for X1 to talk.
The current version of MS Voice Command combined with the current WM6.1 build does not announce Caller ID even though the feature is there. Reasons...I don't know. All of the other voice funtionality works great though, including reading of SMS and MMS messages among other things.
caller anouncement doesnt work on the x1 and i dont think anyones has come up with a solution to it yet.
Same
It attenuates my rintone every so often as if it's going to say the name but it never does.
Certain versions of WM don't support caller announcement. I think it is explained on the MS website for Voice Command.

[GUIDE] New guide for VOIP/SIP on WM6..all files included

I spent a couple hours sorting through blog posts, downloads, cabs, blah blah blah... with the goal of getting my forsaken Treo Pro (WM6) to use VOIP through my office's SIP/Asterisk setup.
To save you all some headaches, here's the distilled version of what I found to be the best combination of software and quick hints for install:
I started with this blog post, to give credit..
http://voipguides.blogspot.com/2008/05/voip-sip-client-for-windows-mobile-6.html
But I used different software... so I've included a zip with the package of all the stuff I installed to make the damn thing work.
1) Install all of these:
- voipdrivers.cab
- custelvoip.cab (works better than MajikVOIP.cab)
- sipconfig.cab (originally named SipConfigTool_2_0_1.CAB)
- audioroute.cab (from http://www.teksoftco.com/index.php?section=freeware)
I've also included setupvoip.cab .. which is a fancier SIP setup tool, and may work better than sipconfig... but I used sipconfig originally, so that's what I'm writing up here.
2) Restart your phone
3) Run sipconfig ... enter all of your sip configuration details, and also use the menu option to enable VOIP over 3G if you desire it.
4)Now go start -> settings -> personal -> Phone. Choose ther Internet Calling tab. Set the option for "whenever available".
5)On the main/Today screen you will see a phone icon with description VOIP ( you entered name of provider VOIP in (step 4). It'll show you the status of whether or not it has registered with SIP. A Hint, you might need to trick the phone into connecting to 3G first... e.g. by browsing the web... otherwise WM6 at least doesn't seem to auto-connect to 3G for SIP.
6) After connecting using 3G or wifi, You will see the status displayed as VOIP: Available.
7) You can now make calls as normal, or receive calls in.. and everything is routed through VOIP.
8) You'll notice that many WM phones will route the audio through the rear speaker (annoying) .. which is why you installed audio router from teksoft... it adds a little icon on your top system tray to let you change between earpiece and rear speaker for audio. There's a bunch of audio switchers out there. This is the best one by a mile. And it actually works.
Cheers,
Andrew Eross
Thanks for your effort. Similar tool is already posted as Schap - Setup voip Tool -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1364611
Thank you!!!
I've looked around for a guide as clear as yours. You've the best guide all around... Thank you a bunch...
Thanks for your great job. I new on Windows Mobile so I need a lot this kind of help.
I download and followed your installation procedure on a HTC 3G+, T3238 (chinese version of the HTC 3G, manufacturer HTY Taiwan)
Works well, Hope others also will be successfull
By the way, is there an also simple way to sending DTMF tones for remote control of my answering machine? When I try to send numeric keys after the call is connected it looks like I start a new connection with numbers actually for remote control of my answering machine.
Hi, I'm also in the club that has browsed hundreds of post looking for a setup of VOIP and also looking for a solution on good incoming sound level when using Voip on phone. Your files solved all my problems!
Phone: HTC HD2 Norwegian with Rom 1.66. Use the Norwegian company www.iplink.no for VOIP at home / office and (now) on my mobile phone.
Made my own ipdialplan.xml which can be found attached to this post.
Done some testing calling people through Voip: after approx 1 minute the connection falls down. I looks like I'm still connected to the other part (interface shows that a call is going on) but none of us can hear the other part. I then have to cancel the call in the phone interface. Make new call to same person, after approc minute the connection goes down again...
Is there some kind of registry setting that controls this "timeout"?
Hi, this tools does work also on windows mobile 6.5?
I know that on the HTC Fuze some of the wmvoip.cab installs breaks the GPS - anyone test this yet?
THanks!

I've done everything you said, but I can't find the option to show internet calling is available. I have Kumar 1.5 installed, and am about to try another ROM (maybe Laurentis, the SIP drivers are cooked in). What are you running?

Best Voip All in one solution. Try This
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=596682
I tried last night to no avail. I am guessing that using a WM6.5.x ROM stops me, because I can't access the right settings (start-settings-personal-home or phone) because my settings button takes me straight to the black screen of text version. I even tried to go to a 6.5 ROM (cooked with VOIP drivers in), and even then I couldn't get the VOIP phone icon to appear on the today screen. Every time I selected it from the Internet tab in the setting, it would just ignore my changes.
I would love to get this working with a nice cooked 6.5.x ROM, and am not giving up yet, but man is this frustrating. As a side note, I am learning lots about the workings of WM.

thanks for the reply. i have also installed i was able to receive incoming call but unable to make outgoing call. are you able to make outgoing call?
Okay, I feel like an idiot, but I figured out how to enable the internet calling tab on my HD2. I am still apparently learning lots about WM6.5. After I disabled Sense, I could add tabs to the today screen. I did everything right, but the voip tab just either says searching or not active. And it somehow disabled my data connection. Not sure anymore, almost through trying ROMs. Is everyone else running this on a stock ROM, or are there certain features that interfere with this?
VOIP almost working
I've implemented Internet Dialing and have SIP configured my my provider and I am able to receive calls. But, I notice that when I dial out a "9" is put in front of the number I'm dialing making it impossible to dial a number correctly. How can I change this?

You need to edit your ipdialplan.xml. It's in your windows directory. Basically it is set up by default to dial a 9 and in area code 425... If you look at it you should see where to edit it... There's also a utility knocking about here to set up a basic one for other countries...
Can't svae ipdialplan changes
I can open Total Commander find the file and make the changes to ipdialplan.xml by taking the "9" out of the 10 digit plan and the 7 digit plan, but I can't save the changes. I get "Error, could not create file" every time.
It's either open or write protected. Edit on the PC. Copy it over with a different extension. Rename the original, and then rename the new one to the right name.....
I have this very strange problem.
I have tried to install all this, but it works only partially.
Outgoing calls work and the receiving party can hear me. However, I don't hear them. Also, on incoming calls my phone doesn't respond at all.
Does anyone have any idea what is the problem?
I'm having a Topaz @ WM65.
