Now i have a combination of hero-recovery-1.6.2, 6.35 radio and 1.76 spl in my magic, if I want to flash a 2.1 rom, which needs a new radio but do not have the Sense UI, does it necessary for me to change the recovery? Or I can flash the new rom immediately? Another question is what is the difference between hero-recovery-1.6.2 and sapphire-recovery-6.35-1.6.2?
no one knows?

It's the Radio that's giving you grief. Cyanogen will not run on 6.35.x radio. I've been down that road already.
What I ended up doing was reapplying the Rogers RUU from last July and then rooting from there. I'm now running CM 5.0.7 Test 3 and I'm using the radio that was installed on the Dream with the mandatory E911 update. So far it's been 7 hours and my data hasn't been cut yet. Fingers crossed.
If you want to keep that SPL and Radio combo, I've seen mentions of cursordroid as a Rom that will run on it. I'm using SPL 1.33.2005 with Radio 3.22.26.17
I did this on an HTC Magic from Rogers that uses an EBI1 radio, if your phone uses the EBI0 radio don't try to use the radio that I did. I did also see somewhere on the forum here that one of the members has a batch file for performing the changes between the SPL/Radio combos. You'll have to look around.
thanks man,
Downgraded back to 3.22 Radio and SPL
flashed cm
worked like charm
Hey guys I've done a lot of searching and have come up with nothing.
I have successfully rooted my girlfriends Magic 32A and it is now running
Radio: 6.35.10.18
SPL: 1.76.2007
I would like to flash Cyanogen RC2 to the phone but when I try it has an error saying (Type 7) or something at the bottom and just before that it says stuff about H-Boot 1.36 or something similar which I realise is a different version to what I am currently running.
Does Cyanogen not work with the specifications I have? and if not then what can I do to get it on my girlfriends Magic?
It's currently running FroyoRiders rom which installed fine but I want her to have a working camera.
Any help would be great, thanks!
*Edit* I have also tried like 5 different recoveries so I'm pretty sure it is not that!
I recently had similar issues on my Rogers Magic with flashing roms, no matter what rom I tried, nothing seemed to want to flash properly until I reverted back to the old radio/spl combo. Once I did that, I've been able to flash whatever rom I want, of course needing a kernel port for some roms to work on the 32a, but it is a whole lot further than no roms at all
The old SPL was perfected and wouldn't allow me to flash roms... Can someone suggest a SPL and Radio combo that work with Cyanogen 32A and perhaps a way to get that SPL/Radio combo?
No, I'm talking older than that. I'm using the old radio with the spl 1.33.2009, I believe that's the one anyway... give me about an hour and I'll point you to the tool I used
Sent from my HTC Magic using XDA App
Okay thanks, I've got a feeling that you need SPL 1.33.x or something for Cyanogen Rom to install as I have 1.76.x .. However I can't find anything confirming this anywhere. It is safe to downgrade to a 1.33 SPL on a 32A with 6.35.10.18 radio?
Well, for one thing reading the forums would have brought you to the conclusion that new radio and old spl don't play well together. You can only use spl 1.33 with radio 3.22 and spl 1.76 with radio 6.35.
In the sapphire dev forum you'll find a tool to switch radio and spl quickly and safely. Use it to move to the old radio/spl and install whatever rom you want from recovery.

Okay yeah I pretty much gathered that from reading around... What I'm wondering is does Cyanogen actually require the 1.33 spl to install?
Not if you don't need a working camera/camcorder

Ah okay so the other radio is required for the camera drivers. Which would explain why it doesn't work on this FroyoRider rom then I take it?
Thanks for your help. I'll try use this Radio Switcher to go to the other version then flash Cyanogen RC2
*Edit* Just to make sure, does using the "Flash Default SPL, Radio, Recovery" on Radio Switcher get me to the right 1.33 version? Or do I need to find the custom files somewhere?
Open the latest version of the tool (3.5 I think) and click flash old with your phone in fastboot and connected to your pc. All the files you need are included in the archive.
I also had this issue trying to flash RC2 on my Rogers Magic.
Please be aware that if we flash the old radio Rogers will block data.
Is there any way to keep the new radio and get around this flashing issue? I'd love to try CM6 but not without data!
I'm happy to provide any logs or whatever.
Greetings guys,
I have a HTC Magic 32A, right now running on the 6.35 Radio and would like to now what should be better: keep that radio or try the 3.22 radio with froyo roms. I don't know if there are such a straight choice, so sorry if it is a stupid doubt. But I just would like to use my divice as fast as it can be.
Today I'm using 6.35 Radio with the lattest RCMagic ROM and want to test the Froyo ROMs. This could be a better configuration?
Thank you,
The 6.35 radio is not compatible with the kernel used in custom Froyo roms for the HTC Magic.
So, if you want to use Froyo on the HTC Magic you'll need to flash the 3.22 radio.
Some say that new radio is better reception and ect.
In my experience, it's absolutely the same... so it's kinda up to you to chose what to use!

Better than downgrade, you just flash a cm 6.1 rom, then do not reboot Continue flash a port package for radio 6.35 !
thanks
Hi,
I decided to try the froyorider rom. The only problem is the camera.
But I can live that. The good thing are: 420 points at quadrant benchmark and more then 4k mflops.
Thank you,
Is there any way to change HD2 radio 2.xxx.51 to 2.xxx50 for flashing new roms..? Or another saying will it cause a problem if i change the radio version 2.xxx.51 to 2.xxx50?

To flash a radio only (without the stock rom), you need HSPL installed at your device.
You will brick your device if your device is TMOUS and you flash it with radio 2.xx.51.xx.

Yes, but you should make sure that your current spl is not spl 3.03 since that will cause conflict if you install hspl over it
Good luck
if you are spl 3.03 you must downgrade to SPL 2.10
You must downgrade your Rom to a Rom with an SPL 2.10 or lower in order to install HardSPL 2.08. Try to find a 1.48, 1.66 or 1.72 Rom from your carrier and flash via micro SD Card to downgrade the Rom and SPL, then install HardSPL 2.08 and flash a new Radio to meet the requirements for flashing Magldr.

im going to send back my hd2 for my screen fix. i have installed back to stock rom with 2.15 radio and uninstalled the HPSL, will that void the warranty? coz i forgot the version of stock radio already. One more thing, if i installed wrong SPL version will it void the warranty as well? thanks for the help......
The best thing to do is find the official ROM for your HD2 and flash it. Seeing as you said you have reverted back to SPL already flashing the official ROM for your HD2 will give you the correct Radio, ROM, and SPL version. Then you know you will have no warranty problems. If you have a T-Mobile HD2 just download the office ial update from T-Mobile.com, you can. type in T-Mobile HTC HD2 update in Google and you will find it. If you have another model HD2 like the EU or any other model besides the T-Mobile HD2 just go to HTC.com and find hour official ROM there, you will have to type in your serial number to find the correct one for your HD2. Look under the battery cor your serial number.
i had downloaded the stock rom from htc website using my serial number. when it comes to HTC logo, it shows that my radio version is 2.15 which is i installed it for android nand. it didn't revert back my radio version. and SPL version will not change unless u change it right? i not quite understand. help please. my stock rom is RUU_Leo_S_HTC_WWE_3.14.405.2_Radio_15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14_LEO_S_Ship. Thanks for reply.

The Stock ROM flashes the correct radio SPL version, and removes the custom HSPL.
That rom comes with 2.15 radio which is why you think it didn't change. If that rom flashed and works, your rom and radio are fine. To check spl, look in bootloader. If it says anything other than 3.03.0000 then use hspl4 to set 3.03.0000
Currently i am using SPL 1.42 HSPL to intall my stock rom. I forgot which SPL version is my original SPL, i mean SPL 1.42 or SPL 1.66. How do i know which one is the stock SPL?
Spl is specific to the rom. 3.14 roms require spl 3.03.0000 which is why you should use hspl4 to set it. (NOT 3.03.hspl)
If you had flashed that rom from SD it would have set spl 3.03.0000 at the same time, but you used USB, so next step is manually set matching spl.
ok.. i understand now. thanks for everything..
