Anybody knows is it possible to setup a proxy in android 2.1 (sense)? WiFi at work needs a proxy to connect to web.
Well, I also need such a thing but as far as I know, it ain't possible... I wish it was... As for 2.1, I have no idea if it's achievable but I have a feeling it's not
+1, my university wifi network requires a proxy to connect to the internet =[
I've created a similar topic a while ago.. but no solutions .
With a http proxy 3G data connection I can use only the browser (without download). All the other apps it seems that ignore the proxy settings..
You could try AnyCut (free from Market)
New shortcut -> Activity -> Proxy. Click on the shortcut created on homescreen and fill your proxy there..

Has anyone been able to figure out or locate a cab for adding an Internet Sharing? I found few cabs but nothing that works... Please help! Thanks...
Update, Internet Sharing cab working with T-mobile Web proxy!
Never mind.. got it to work.... I was getting an error message in Internet Explorer when trying to use the cab with Proxy hack from T-mobile similar to this:
HTTP ERROR: $CODE$
$MESSAGE$
RequestURI=/
To fix this, look here. All you need to do is enter your proxy settings & port into Internet Explorer or Firefox and you will instanly be able to use the Internet Sharing...

yes i connect with the proxy on a regular basis, you have to set IE to work with the proxy. assuming you have IE7 tools/internet options/connections tab/lan settings and check the box that says "use a proxy server for you lan" once you do that enter the same proxy from you r phone along with the port ( 216.155.165.50 :8080 ) you will now be able to surf with the proxy, just remember that when your home and connect you laptop to your Wlan or whatever you have you have to go back into the settings and uncheck the box "use a proxy server for your lan" because if you dont IE will still be trying to reach the net through the proxy server and you will have no internet, the only draw back is that you will have to check and uncheck every time you switch connections.
now i never use anything other than IE so i dont know what programs can reach the net on the proxy.

If I remember correctly when I was in Metropcs and with my Hero, I had to use a proxy server and in order to see the option you need to install BetterCut or Anycut and browse for the Proxy app
here it is.....adapt to your needs
8. Install BetterCut or AnyCut on your phone and open it Press New ShortCut And Go To Activity It make take a couple of minutes for it to appear but when it Does Go down to Proxy Setting and Click It. It Will Ask for a Name make it whatever you want to. It should say shortcut created sucessfully. Go to your Home Screen and it should be somewhere on there press it and Edit it For Cricket It should be HostNAME: wap.mycricket.com And Port Should be 8080 and for Metropcs HostName: wap.metropcs.net and Port Should Be 3128.

Hi All
I have HTC HD with Energy BLACKSTONE 28244 Sense2.5 Cookie.2.0 Nov.13 ROM
I live in IRAN , Facebook & Twitter were filtered , I need help to change the proxy of Opera or IE , if possible change Facebook & Twitter App. proxy settings be able to connect to free Internet.
i use WiFi or MTN GPRS to connect
Please help me
Unfortunately it might not be possible.
You can go into Connections, then click on the Connections icon - click "set up my proxy server" and you will see the "Proxy server" and "Advanced" button if there is already one there.
You will need to find an open SOCKS4 or SOCKS5 proxy server based outside of Iran which will be accessible over your 3G network - your mobile provider might block the standard SOCKS proxy ports (3128 and 1080, if I remember correctly) so unfortunately it might not work even if you find one.
Also, all of your 3G traffic is probably being proxied by your mobile operator anyway including DNS requests, which I'm fairly sure is how you're being blocked. You may have to do a lot of work (rent proxy server service) in order to get round the block.
Best of luck...
I recall this being missing in Android 2.x last I dealt with it, but I would have thought they added it by 3.0. And yet I can't find proxy settings anywhere on my newly bought Xoom. Is it just me being blind, or is it really not there?
Yes it is still missing, along with Cisco VPN support...
This makes this tablet pretty useless in a corporate environment... iPad works damnit!
I'm necro'ing this thread, but I found out that HTTP Proxy Settings from the market works just fine to expose the native Setting's Proxy page. I have no idea why it's disabled, but it works just fine for me! I just barely got it working, so I hope the setting is per WiFi network, as I'll have to clear it when I get back home, which would suck.
HTTP Proxy settings is not working with my xoom. Ran the app and it shows a blank Proxy screen.
Restarted Xoom. No change.
Do I need to root?
Not sure if this will work on the Xoom but on my phone I've created a Proxy shortcut using Any Cut. New shortcut > Activity > Proxy. Works well as long as you don't need proxy authentication.
Use Firefox Mobile
Use Firefox mobile and go to the add ons section and install the proxy mobile add-on. After you install it, go to proxy mobile from your add-on and enter your proxy settings.
