If I remember correctly when I was in Metropcs and with my Hero, I had to use a proxy server and in order to see the option you need to install BetterCut or Anycut and browse for the Proxy app
here it is.....adapt to your needs
8. Install BetterCut or AnyCut on your phone and open it Press New ShortCut And Go To Activity It make take a couple of minutes for it to appear but when it Does Go down to Proxy Setting and Click It. It Will Ask for a Name make it whatever you want to. It should say shortcut created sucessfully. Go to your Home Screen and it should be somewhere on there press it and Edit it For Cricket It should be HostNAME: wap.mycricket.com And Port Should be 8080 and for Metropcs HostName: wap.metropcs.net and Port Should Be 3128.

im on my phone browsing the web and i really need an internet sharing cab for my wing. i had one when i had the omega final rom but i jus downgraded to the touch it 4.1. if you have one could u please post it... thanks a mil!
Has anyone been able to figure out or locate a cab for adding an Internet Sharing? I found few cabs but nothing that works... Please help! Thanks...
Update, Internet Sharing cab working with T-mobile Web proxy!
Never mind.. got it to work.... I was getting an error message in Internet Explorer when trying to use the cab with Proxy hack from T-mobile similar to this:
HTTP ERROR: $CODE$
$MESSAGE$
RequestURI=/
To fix this, look here. All you need to do is enter your proxy settings & port into Internet Explorer or Firefox and you will instanly be able to use the Internet Sharing...

yes i connect with the proxy on a regular basis, you have to set IE to work with the proxy. assuming you have IE7 tools/internet options/connections tab/lan settings and check the box that says "use a proxy server for you lan" once you do that enter the same proxy from you r phone along with the port ( 216.155.165.50 :8080 ) you will now be able to surf with the proxy, just remember that when your home and connect you laptop to your Wlan or whatever you have you have to go back into the settings and uncheck the box "use a proxy server for your lan" because if you dont IE will still be trying to reach the net through the proxy server and you will have no internet, the only draw back is that you will have to check and uncheck every time you switch connections.
now i never use anything other than IE so i dont know what programs can reach the net on the proxy.

Thanks to Duprade - Link to a working cab for Internet Sharing.
If you don't get the icon, look at this thread for individual zip files and neccesary reg entries! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=300247
Good luck everyone!
Hey all
I have been using Palringo for a while now and I was tired of waiting for them to add a way where I could use a proxy server (T-Zones) or Wifi.
In order to do this you would have to access the registry and some users don't want to do that. So I created a quick application to take care of this.
I hope it's useful for someone.
This application requires .NET 3.5
UPDATED:
I found a minor UI update issue.
thanks...
I'll give it a look, thanks!
i tried it and now i cant connect to palringo lol...not sure if have cf net 3.5 tho, i think i have only 2.0 NET version

That's strange. All the application does is set the registry settings that palringo uses to connect through a proxy server.
Are you able to access the registry?
If so locate the following:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Parlingo\Settings] (These are the values used for US T-Zones Proxy)
Key="Connection/Proxy/Host" Value="216.155.165.50"
Key=Connection/Proxy/Port" Value="8080"
Key="Connection/Proxy/Type" Value="1"
NOTE: (The above settings are for US T-Zones Proxy only)
You should see these settings. If you set "Connection/Proxy/Type" ="0" That will allow you to use your Wifi connection.
^thanx i'll try that fix when im not lazy , i don't really use palringo much
can u make so that i can enter a proxy usernameassword inputs???
do u think ur prog will make palringo connect if it uses the wap port 80 to connect?
i can only surf the goam.com rogers APN thru a proxy server and i don't think palringo can connect

You don't need the wap user/pass on goam.com for the proxy.
Ip address : 172.25.0.107
Port : 80

If you are using a proxy server that uses port 80, all you need to do is set the port to 80 and set the host address of your proxy server and your good to go. Palringo will use your predefined connection to access the internet which will handle your connection to the proxy server.
Just wondering whether anyone is able to get it to work with Rogers goam.com APN?
I have created the 3 new keys in the registry, and I tried all the combinations of different ports and proxy type.
If anyone is able to get it to work, can you please post your setup here?
Thanks!
i tried posting this question in the particular thread for the opera 9.5 version i'm running (15233) but for some reason opera is compressing images down a lot to save on data (i'm assuming) for example, an image that i save on my phone from a website which normally be sized at 100k on my computer, or on my buddies fuze running opera, will be 25k on my phone. so when or if i try to zoom in to check the details in the pic, or if there's writing in the pic its completely garbled and unreadable. does anyone know if there's anything in the settings under opera:config to fix this. i've check multiple times and can't find a thing.
Wrong section for asking questions, but I think its network related
There's a compressing proxy between you and the origin server.
You using Turbo mode by any chance?

actually no, the release i have was is at least 2 months older than any releases featuring turbo mode. but this makes perfect sense. i'll see if there's anything in my phone under the proxy settings under opera:config. by the way, i just downloaded you're gfxboost .6 this mornings, seems to make the zooming in opera 9.5 a lot faster/smoother...only downside is my phone freezes whenever i go into landscape now. looks like i'll have to uninstall.
ok...i'm not sure if anyone out there has is running on att...but these are the settings i have right now under opera:config--->cache
enable http 1.1 for proxy (unchecked)
enable start with http 1.1 for proxy (unchecked)
ftp server (wireless.cingular.com:80)
http server (wireless.cingular.com:80)
https server (wireless.cingular.com:80)
proxy servers (blank)
use ftp (checked)
use http (checked)
use https (checked)
use proxy on local names check (checked)
does this sound ok to anyone?

well, wrong forum or not...u helped direct me to the answer, thanx chainfire. as soon as i got home i IMd my friend and got the settings on his fuze. trick was removing all the proxy address settings, and having only "enable http 1.1 for proxy" and "use proxy on local names check" checked. thanx for the suggestion.
is there anyway to connect to a http proxy that needs a username and password? when i had a ipod touch i could connect to my schools http proxy and use my username and password to browse the internet. On my htc hero i found a way to set the proxy but not the username/password it requires. ive searched all day trying to find an anwser but cant.
Have you checked with sprint? Not sure if it is possible with android. Also may be specific to the browser you are using.
i dont have sprint
I think I recall Dolphin browser having a proxy setup option. May get it from the market and check it out.
Anybody knows is it possible to setup a proxy in android 2.1 (sense)? WiFi at work needs a proxy to connect to web.
Well, I also need such a thing but as far as I know, it ain't possible... I wish it was... As for 2.1, I have no idea if it's achievable but I have a feeling it's not
+1, my university wifi network requires a proxy to connect to the internet =[
I've created a similar topic a while ago.. but no solutions .
With a http proxy 3G data connection I can use only the browser (without download). All the other apps it seems that ignore the proxy settings..
You could try AnyCut (free from Market)
New shortcut -> Activity -> Proxy. Click on the shortcut created on homescreen and fill your proxy there..
