Hi, I am interested in putting a few books on my HD2 to read. I converted them using calibre to .PDB format which is what Barnes and Noble eReaders use for their format. I put the converted file, along with the cover image in the folder /my device/program files/ BN eReader/Books. Is this not the right area to put them in? They do not show up when I open the eReader application. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
I could be wrong, but I think the format the program uses is EPUB.
Can I ask you if you could post a tutorial of the conversion of the files (including the cover image)? Or, at least, a place with a nice tutorial.
Thanks!

no tutorial, but u just find the book u downloaded, then there is a button that says convert and u can change in settings what format. (ePub) is most popular.
I also want to mention, as my own thread was never answered.... there is a built in Reader from HTC that reads ePub.. i have been able to activate it by clicking on a ePub file but it only works ONCE after a soft reset... anyone know how to find the reader as a program?

Do you not have a HTC Reader Sense tab, or a start menu icon?
You could try HTCEBookList.exe in the Windows directory.
What exactly are you trying to do?

umm.. no i don't actually... which Rom do you have or is it a cab?? i have NRG's rom (tried all 3).
and i will try that, thats the answer i've been looking for i hope, but I am trying to open the reader as I please. Not just randomly, and not by having to go into my file explorer and clicking on a epub file.

You could use a file explorer like Resco's or Total Commander to create a shortcut to HTCEBookList.exe and place in in your start menu. You could then add it as a quicklink too.
If you want a cab file, see my previous post, #4, and also the indexer to add more books.
As for the rom i'm running, my current signature info is up-to-date. I didn't realise the NRGZ28 was not cooking in the reader tab in his current roms.
Hi everyone.

I think NRGZ28 removed the e reader tab to increase speed, but its available as an add on from his thread if that helps anyone
Hi! I converted some ebooks using this process, but I cannot make B&N Reader see it... is there a specific place I should put the files I can be seen by it? I currently trying to put in its ebook folder in "my device" location.

Skin cabs just install like other cabs. Just copy and paste thru Activesync to your Storage Card. Then run them from your phone. Soft restart and go.
Enjoy !!!!
Found some more:
Okay I took off the Directory Assistance .cab. Too many people having problems with it. Getting PMs with complaints, so I just took it off.
Two more:
If I find more I will post them.
these are all great... but is it possible to get a few descriptions??
thanks for your effort in uploading all of this cabs and zips
One note:
HTC Equalizer. After .cab install does not show up anywhere. Place this shortcut in Windows/Startmenu/Programs folder and it will.

Hi, would be happy to explain any of the cabs, do you have a question? My goal with this thread was to keep it short & sweet. Just .cabs so Wing owners would have a place to go get them. Most people are not into alot of reading.
Thanks!

some people don't use my favorite messages and want it off their phone -- this cab will do that -- removes my faves.
what I like about directory assistance cab is you can do a reverse lookup. If someone calls you and you have their phone number on your caller ID, plug in the number on reverse lookup and it shows you who it is.
Thanks for the quick response. I have the myfaves plan, but don't use the plugins and all the other myfaves stuff on my phone. Will this remove all the myfaves junk? And if it does, I still won't be charged for calls to and from those people, right? Hope these questions make sense.
This is a great thread, by the way. Thanks for all your work.

Hmm not sure how T-Mobile charges for my Faves. I don't have it on my plan so I wanted off my phone. Not sure answer to your question. sorry. If you have the plan I would suggest Not removing it from your phone. If you wanted to experiment you could remove them and see what happens but you may have to do a hard reset to get them back.
Thanks
Suggestion for .cab files
This is probably obvious but I'll suggest it anyway.
Once you have all the .cab files you want. Make a folder (named Cab Files) and put the folder on your micro SD Card. Except the disable delete cab.cab. Just put this one on your Storage Card and Run It First.
Then run all the .cab files from your Storage Card/Cab Files folder.
They will stay there and if you ever have to do a Hard Reset if will be really easy and quick to restore your phone the way you want it.
If you have a 4gb or 6gb micro SD card it will hardly take up any space at all.
The Adobe Reader LE that is preinstalled in the ROM hasn't got the option Reflow. I have tried to install the Adobe Reader that came with the diamond, but the cab seems to change nothing. Anyone got somehow the reflow option for reading PDFs?
Thanks in advance for your help.
I have installed the Diamond cab and this added the reflow optiond and worked fine. In this ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=460640 is the reflow problem solved.

Do you mind sharing the cab? Maybe is different from the one I have used...
Thanks in advance.
Could I install another adobe reader LE 2.5 cab file on top of the original one to restore the reflow function??
http://rapidshare.com/files/165965387/Adobe_PDF_2.5_Diamond_version.cab
The one in this topic has reflow.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=3067793#post3067793
Since I am afraid of deleting the adobe reader LE on the ROM, so I used another way to resolve this problem.
I extracted the exe. file of adobe reader LE from my diamond (2.09M instead of 2.01M of HD ) and placed it manually under a folder in programs. In order to avoid confusion, I named it as adobe readerLEv25.exe. The I placed a ink. of this revised version in the startup. Now I can have reflow again!!!
Not working

genesicgaogaiga and sproxy,
Thank you for your tips. I have tried both cabs, and I think they are the same I found previously... Its not working for me, I do not know why. The installations seem to be fine, but then everything continues the same way, without reflow option anywhere. I have also tried to install the diamond version in the storagecard, and after restarting (every installation ask for it) I cannot find the program in the storecard, and pdfs are open with the same version without reflow.
I also tried to install the version 2.0 download from adobe.com. Doing so, it is launched another this version but after telling you are etering in rflow mode, it crashes and is automatically closed. In short, I cannot open pdfs files with this other version.
Any ideas?

hi,
check your registry.
current_user/software/adobe/adobereaderle.25/ EnableReflow 0 to 1!
no install or messing around with other cabs needed.
what bugs me, is the "performance" of the reader. on my old herald dragging the pages was very smooth. on the hd i have the feeling of "3 line" mouse scrolling, which is very unprecise. any solution for that?

You need a registry editor like the one I attached.
Once installed, run it and find the keys you need to make the desired changes. Keys are like "folders" in the registry.
It works

I'm trying to replace my stock blue tooth icons with a couple cools ones I found here but when I try to add the new bt on mode bmp file to windows it says it already exists, would i like to replace. When i click yes, it says I can't replace the original file. I know there is a way around this or an application that lets you overwrite. Can someone please help me out?
Thanks!
p.s.
Did a search and found everything but what I'm looking for.:
Use TotalCommander (free - available here: http://www.ghisler.com/pocketpc.htm) or Resco Explorer (not free) which allow overwriting files in the Windows directory. I did the same for replacing the BT icons with coloured ones.
Hope this helps,
Martin
Where do you find those color icons you are using instead of the original ones? Does anybody have a full set of color icons to share?

I'm not sure what you mean... There is a TotalCommander CAB file available from that link. Install it directly on the phone.
(Depending on what phone you have, you almost certainly want the first one in the table for ARM and XSCALE CPU's.)
Hi!
Is there an app, which monitors the clipboard? I was reading a large text and found it really annoying to copy an important part, switch to word and paste it, then back to reading and the hole thing all over again...
I am thinking of an app, that creates a list of what has been copied automaticly. Does anybody know something like that?

This should have been posted in general... oh well
The wildfire has a built in pdf viewer which scans your sd card, and also comes with a version of quickoffice which scans your sd card for word, excel and powerpoint files, but cannot edit them
Thanks man.. yeah i noticed it..but when i zoom the pdf, the text does not get adjusted to the screen.. instead i have to scroll which i find irritating as i do not find the continuatity of the line properly... .. so can you give me some gud PDF reader which automatically adjust the words to the screen as it happens in the internet browser(default)
I think that you can go to menu->zoom-> wrap text. Or something like that. Works on my phone.
Download adobe reader from marketplace for pdf's bro and quickoffice for docs.
