Is there a way to enable sleep during a call? Right now if I am on call and I want to put the phone to sleep (turn the screen off) it would end the conversation.

Something is wrong? It should turn off when put it up to you cheek? sensor might not be working?
I am sorry if I didn't provide enough information. All that works properly. Its just that when I use the phone with my car's bluetooth I want to be able to turn off the screen to preserve battery life. But instead it ends the call.
well my handset if nothing passes in front of the sensor then after 10 seconds or so the screen turns off anyway. however if something passes in front and then away again, screen comes back on again for around 10 seconds or so.

My THD keeps running out of battery power and it has taken me untill now to work out why.
If the THD is OFF and the phone rings it turns on, but when the call is finished IT STAYS ON and because I keep in my shirt top pocket every time I move it restarts the "turn off timeout" and I use up battery power.
Surely the phone should work this way:
THD ON when phone rings, it stays ON after the call is finished.
THD OFF when phone rings, it turns OFF when call is finished.
Is it possible for it to do that or can anyone sugest a solution.

I think if you keep it locked in your pocket you can still answer calls although it is in a locked state. When the call is finished it will go back to being locked automatically so you don't need to worry about activating anything on the phone in your pocket and it will go to sleep according to the settings you have made.
You can enable the AutoLock function so that you won't accidently touch it (although it got some bug with backlight).
Or you can use S2U2......(but it drain powers too).

I like the sensor lock, much nicer to make a rotational pattern to lock/unlock the phone. Makes the slide to unlock look outdated.
batery problems
I do not think you understood what I was saying.
Auto turn off is TURNED ON
Keylock IS TURNED ON
When an incoming call "wakes up" my sleeping unit and I have a conversation on the phone, when I finished the call and press "end call button" the phone does not go back to sleep. It should shut down after the preset time of, in my case, 30 seconds. But because the phone is in my top shirt pocket every movement of my arms or body causes the screen to be touched and the 30 second closedown time starts all over again.
What I have to do at the moment whenever I finish a call is to press first the "end call button" and then the "turn off" button. What I need is one button that will end the call and shut the phone down as well.
Hi guys,
before i goto sleep i usually call my partner, i plug the hands free in and speak away.
But the screen likes to randomly turn on and off, i believe it has to do something with the automatically on when not next to your ears...
Now this is great, but id rather not waste unnessecary battery life whilst chatting away...
Is there any sort of "tweak" for this?
You're probably right. Your room with the lights out is probably playing tricks with your proximity sensor. My suggestion is to not apply any tweaks to disable the sensor because it is actually really useful. Next time you call with your headset, just manually press the power button to turn off the screen. This way your proximity sensor won't be able to tell your screen to turn on no matter what.
Hi guys,
how do you turn off the screen, when you are having a conversation via the headset?
Now I have to walk with the phone in hand instead of putting it back in my pocket. Also if the phone is in my pocket and I receive a call, then when the call is finished the phone doesnt lock resulting in calling random people.
Thanks.
I have the same issues.
Anyone with a good solution?
there are some utilities going round that enable you to shut the screen by the touch of a button... can't remember any of the names though.. sorry
I find when talking on my bluetooth headset, when I place my phone close to my pocket the screen turns off automatically, hence being off when in my pocket. Take the phone out, the screen turns back on.
Using shipped ROM.
Try it.... when talking on your bluetooth, place your hand over the phone (top of the phone has the sensors) and see if the screen turns off.
I got a question. When you're talking on the phone, does your screen goes off in 10 seconds, then 2 seconds later, the screen turns back on, then turns off in 10 seconds, and keeps going..
Cuz while I was talking on the phone using bluetooth, I just happen to noticed this and even using my finger to hide the proximity sensor, it does the same thing.
[EDIT] When I'm on a call and then hit the home button to get to the main screen (still on call), then it turns off like normal and it won't turn itself on. But for some reason, in the "Call Window" it just repeatedly goes off and on.. Hmmm
Problem 2: When I'm on a call, and have my phone in my pocket, when someone phones me, my leg would help me 'accept' the call. I did a test. When I'm on a call and block the proximity sensor, the screen locks up (which is fine) but when someone phones in (call waiting), the screen is accessible again even though the proximity server is still covered. This makes it so that it would still accidently accept the call when someone phones in while still in pocket.
Can anyone try it and see if it does it on your phone?
Yes mine does that. It sucks because frequently, I will hit the hang up button with my cheek. Annoying.
I hope they fix this asap...
its very annoying, mine does the same thing
hey everyone,
this is the first post on xda!(wow)
anyway, i got my fascinate at local verizon store on yesterday (9/11).
so far i love it.
I just wonder if i could turn off the screen while i am on the phone with someone.
When I was on the phone, I pushed power button to turn off the screen.
and it did go off, but in few seconds i went back on!
so i pushed the power button again to turn off the screen.
and it did turned off again but back on in few seconds.
is it impossible to keep the screen turned off for whole time?
thanks.
The screen should turn off when you put it next to your face, and turn on when you take it away, while on a call.
To check if your proximity censor is working, call your voice mail, and put your hand above where the ear piece is, and the screen will turn off, if it doesn't, then that would be a hardware fault and would require a replacement.
wow thankx frostman89
