I got a question. When you're talking on the phone, does your screen goes off in 10 seconds, then 2 seconds later, the screen turns back on, then turns off in 10 seconds, and keeps going..
Cuz while I was talking on the phone using bluetooth, I just happen to noticed this and even using my finger to hide the proximity sensor, it does the same thing.
[EDIT] When I'm on a call and then hit the home button to get to the main screen (still on call), then it turns off like normal and it won't turn itself on. But for some reason, in the "Call Window" it just repeatedly goes off and on.. Hmmm
Problem 2: When I'm on a call, and have my phone in my pocket, when someone phones me, my leg would help me 'accept' the call. I did a test. When I'm on a call and block the proximity sensor, the screen locks up (which is fine) but when someone phones in (call waiting), the screen is accessible again even though the proximity server is still covered. This makes it so that it would still accidently accept the call when someone phones in while still in pocket.
Can anyone try it and see if it does it on your phone?
Yes mine does that. It sucks because frequently, I will hit the hang up button with my cheek. Annoying.
I hope they fix this asap...
its very annoying, mine does the same thing

how do i stop this? i'd like the phone to automatically lock or something to prevent this from happening. it appears that first, the screen with all of your apps opens, then my cheek or whatever hits a program. any ideas? thanks
Does this happen when you make a call, or when a call comes in?
If you phone is locked and you get an incoming call, after you answer it remains locked except for the calling options (i.e end call, flash, etc.) but I'm not too sure if you dial out though but ive never had this problem...
this happenes to me too. my cheek will hit the screen and either open things or call someone else while on the phone. It is annoying.
This really should not happen, as the device has a proximity sensor that should turn off the screen when the device is held up to your face. If you make a call with the phone held in your hand and you cover up the top of the phone, say the top 2 inches, with your other hand, does the screen blank? It should. If not, the proximity sensor may be bad and a replacement is in order.
Hi,
I realised that sometimes when I am talking on the phone I could accidentally disconnect a call with my cheek. I know there is supposed to be a proximity sensor thing preventing it from happening. But still it happens now & then. Is there any apps to lock the screen while on call? or a sliding "OFF" button? So the call won't get disconnected that easily with a touch while on call?

also looking for something like this.
While in a call, press the home button or the power button. That will prevent you from hanging up.

First check you have all the latest software updates. If it is still a problem send it back (if its under warranty)!!
The proximity sensor is meant to turn the screen off when the phone is by your face and this deactivates any buttons that could be pressed. When you remove the phone from your ear the screen should automatically turn back on. If the screen is on when its next to your ear there is something wrong. You should not have to use an app or press anything so I suggest getting in contact with HTC asap.
I am using the European Tab, but that probably makes no difference.
For security, I lock the phone automatically after 3 minutes of inaction. This works fine for all apps except phone. Strangely, after dialling (or after picking up a call) the phone first turns off the screen, and briefly thereafter locks the device, within 10 seconds. I can continue the call, but as the screen is off, I can not hang up, unless I first switch it on and enter the password.
I have not found a parameter to influence this behavior. But I know it is not related to the proximity sensor, as the effect happens the same way even when not moving the device from the desk.
Is this a confirmed behavior or does anyone know a cure? It's ok if the screen goes dark, and even if you must turn on via power button, but the password?!
Thanks for any help,
Rolf

It happens to me lately after I flashed a new Rom but I highly doubt that has anything to do with it...it feels like a proximity sensor issue, and a autolock issue as well . I am Clueless sorry
This seems to be happening a lot to me. Sometimes when I hold the phone with my shoulder, I'll start face dialing, and when I pull the phone away for a second the screen is off. What's even stranger is that I was in a call just now and did the face dialing, and for whatever reason a "button" was being held (the DTMF tone for a button was going off) while the phone was nowhere near my face, I was looking right at it, and the screen was off!
Anybody else experience anything similar? It's really annoying. I'm not sure if anything is wrong with the prox sensor or what, but I checked it and it is perfectly clean.
same here, happens to me daily.
Hi, I just got my Galaxy s8 about 3 weeks ago. I've had very little in the way of problems with it. Well, except one thing... Everytime I make a call on it the screen will wake up at random. It doesn't matter if it's a call from the installed phone app or hangouts. I thought this might have something to do with the apps edge so I disabled that. Didn't fix it. I thought it might be the home button so I put it on the lowest sensitivity. Didn't fix it. I frequently call while laying in bed (who wants to hold a phone up all the time?) so the phone is between my head and a pillow. When the screen wakes up it clicks and than shuts off after five seconds because I turned on the keep off when in pocket or whatever it's called in settings. Before I turned that on the screen would stay on and buttons would get pressed usually ending up with me ending a call. I still think it's the home button but I'm not sure how to fix it. It anyone has any ideas or has the same issue please let me know.

Its the proximity sensor.
Sent from my SM-G955F using Tapatalk
Proximity sensor is working though.. I have no way to test it properly but if I place my hand near it the screen goes black and when I move it it lights up again. It also doesn't make the click
Had this bug on every device
So it's just a bug? No fix currently? I'm just wondering because I haven't seen anyone talking about this specific issue before ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I'm also suffering from this issue
