Hi all,
I have an HTC Touch HD (1.56). It was tied to Orange Poland, but I have SIM unlocked it with a web service. Now I wanted to try some different ROM (my main language is italian, but english would be fine as well -> as of now I've only been able to partially set language to italian changing registry code, but most of WM6.1 is still in polish). I have tried the HSPLWrapper_Blackstone_156OliNex.exe with no success.
If I just plug the HTC to PC USB cable, ActiveSync wakes up and connects.
I can browse inside, move files, install apps.
When I start the wrapper this is what happens:
1) with advanced USB settings ON (on HTC) the tricolour screen does NOT appear and the wrapper says Connection Error [202]. ActiveSync is ON and ready. -> if I start SSPL-Manual-TouchHD on HTC, the tricolour screen appears, the USB text appears, and on both wrapper and HTC I can see the progress bar at 0%. After a minute or so, the wrapper says there was a problem and shows the recovery procedure (I was never locked on tricolour screen, I just had to remove battery and everything was back to normal). If I try again the wrapper while the tricolour/USB screen is still there, nothing happens, and I get connection error.
2) with advanced USB settings OFF (on HTC) the tricolour screen DOES appear automatically when I start the wrapper, but no matter how fast I am pressing YES on HTC, the USB connection gets killed and ActiveSync disappears.
I have tried 2 different USB cables on different ports (no hub), rebooted PC several times. I have read the 3 wiki pages (HTC_Blackstone_Flash) and the OliNex procedure. What can I do? Can somebody please help me?
EDIT: I am trying this from Windows XP Pro up to par with WinUpdate (.NET 3.5 and everything else is there)
Thanks
You can always try USPL.
But first make sure you follow this exactly:

Two days ago, out of the blue, my Acer S200 F1 Neotouch went dead despite soft resets and a full battery. It is using ROM S200_2.003.01_EN_02, running WindowsMobile 6.5 Professional, CE OS 5.2.21857 (Build 21857.5.0.66) 2009. I have never updated the ROM ever since I bought the S200 last month, and have never intended to.
Twice last month, I did a clean boot successfully, but with some difficulty. Sometimes the clean boot would hang from the start, or hang at the Windows logo, or hang when installing any one of the 25 components. But I still succeeded after some struggle.
But two days ago, my S200 went dead for no obvious reason. A soft reset did not help. I can wake it up for Clean Booting, but the Clean Boot would either hang from the start, or at the Windows logo, or go into endless repetition, or hang while installing a component (e.g. 13/25, the Notification Manager). A couple of times I managed to get a basic Windows Mobile system running on the S200, but it is unstable, prone to automatic Clean Boot, and cannot install .cab files.
I did all kinds to assist the Clean Boots, including removing/reinserting the battery, removing the MicroSD card, removing/inserting the SIM card, plugging the phone into/out of external power, pressing two buttons while resetting with the stylus (or pressing three buttons, or all four buttons). Despite getting the “Clean Boot” display at the beginning, the symptoms are not the same with each Clean Boot. I find it strange that every clean boot attempt behaves differently. I thought that a hard reset would be repeatable and predictable, yet it varies with every clean boot attempt.
Finally I tried using the following two updates:
OS_Acer_3.003c.01.EN.02_WM65_A.zip
OS_Acer_2.003.00.EN_WM65_A.zip
But there would be a “connection error” just before the ROM update window. The problem is the same with three desktop computers: Vista SP2, Vista SP1, XP SP3, despite taking all precautions (e.g. updating the .NET framework to the latest service packs). I have also managed to get the Acer HS USB driver going, whatever it is.
MY QUESTION: Can I do a ROM update without connecting to a computer, e.g. by copying some file to the MicroSD card, and pressing some keys? I read somewhere you can press three buttons (volume down, camera, reset) plus the reset button to enter “bootloader” mode. What is this mode? I did manage to get the S200's LED flashing red. Was the S200 expecting a file with a specific name at a specific location on the MicroSD card?
If the S200's ROM is corrupted, can it be restored or updated? I mean, does flashing the ROM require an ActiveSync connection to the desktop PC? And if the ROM is corrupted, how can it fix itself if it lacks the ability to connect to the desktop? (It takes a healthy pda to do an Activesync.) My old ASUS can flash the ROM via the MicroSD card; I don't know if Acer phones have that feature.
The funny thing is that I am not a person who experiments with ROM flash updates and things like that, although I am semi-computer-literature (I program in Delphi to create some freeware). I didn’t intend to add fancy things to the S200; I just want a stable pda for five or six programs (e.g. a Bible program).
The flash ROM restoration/update problem seems to be a problem with Acer than with Microsoft. I think I should have bought an HTC instead. But I could not afford the Windows HTC I wanted.
Any advice? Any URL with the proper information? Thanks in advance. If this problem is solved, I will try to be useful and constructive for the XDA-Developer forums.

Download ARTS's rom and unzip.
Put the S200 to bootloader mode (camera + power at the same time - light will be blinking red) and then connect it to your PC. Run the "ACER_EUU.exe" & flash a new rom...enjoy...
At the begining i also got connection errors becuase i didnt used the original USB cable that came with the device. This could be a problem if you are using another cable that doesn´t have the full pin layout.
P.S. What Bible program are you using?
Thanks Stress Analyst
Dear Stress Analyst,
Thanks for your helpful advice. The problem has been solved. For the benefit of those who run into the same problem, here is what I did (I am summarizing this from memory, so I may miss a few things):
- I downloaded a file called "Arto's Sense rom 2.1 (3.003c, 23554, 2012).rar". The size is 162,841,490 bytes.
- I unzipped the contents of the .rar file into a folder.
- I put the S200 in bootloader mode by pressing and holding the camera and power buttons, while pressing the reset button with the stylus. The LED started flashing red. I connected the S200 to my Windows XP SP3 desktop, and it caused the Acer HS-USB driver to be installed.
- In the aforementioned folder, I ran “Acer_Euu.exe”, and was led through a series of windows. Just click, click, click ...
- When flashed, the Arto ROM was nice and interesting on my pda, but a bit too funky for a middle-age man like me. So I decided to install the Acer update instead.
- I unzipped file “OS_Acer_3.003c.01.EN.02_WM65_A.zip” and ran file EUU_Acer_S200_3.003c.01_EN_02_03.03.08_3.003c.00_20100202.exe
- After flashing the updated Acer ROM, I checked the version number, which was CE OS 5.2.21883 (Build 21883.5.0.783). The earlier version was Build 21857.5.0.66. The new version seems to run faster than the old version. Here is what I think were the problems with the older version 21857.5.0.66:
- The old firmware does not do a Clean Boot very well.
- The old firmwave has problems connecting to the Acer update.
Arto's ROM overcame these two problems, which meant that I can use it as a temporary bridge to the updated Acer ROM.
Thanks for your help, and best wishes,
Benjamin
Bible programs
Dear BrainMaster,
I am using Olive Tree and Laridian Pocket Bible. I like them both, but for different reasons. Olive Tree is faster and has Greek and Hebrew texts. Pocket Bible has better typography and a good collection of commentaries. I find myself using Olive Tree much more often than Laridian Pocket Bible. I am not using mobile e-Sword because it doesn't work on my S200.

Hi everyone! This is my first post and I would like to thank You all for great job done on this forum, I'm rather beginner but already gathered a lot of knowledge by reading various posts
My first post will be about HTC Universal, that came to me few days ago. From first look it's an amazing piece of hardware and I would like to make it working, because (obviously) it is not
Uni's characteristics:
Black O2 XDA Exec
NAND Flash - DiskOnChip G4
Uni's behaviour:
after turning on is showing bootloader screen with some artifacts and following info:
R 1.17.00
G 42.53.P8
O D. 08.81 TML
can access bootloader menu (three yes/no settings, KITL) - same artifacts are here too
combination of backlight+power+reset gives black screen
hard reset doesn't change anything, screen with O and X is ok, with no artifacts
device is not recognized by PC so I cannot flash it (dev 0000, ven 0000 on windows / cannot enumerate on linux) - USB transmit lines are ok because situation changes after choosing KITL mode (every other is unrecognized)
Already done:
I thought it may be damaged USB port, but I succesfully managed to make it work after choosing KITL mode from bootloader menu (backlight? + reset). It doesn't accept any commands through mtty but at least installed in windows as HTC Sync Device (not remember correctly?) and showed some prompt in console (KITL$ ?).
I didn't really know what KITL is so i googled for other methods of unbricking and found amazing discussion between scholbert and roglio in topic about rescuing uni from scratch via JTAG. So I remodelled my adapter to the same as Wiggler2 and connected to mainboard. However, my situation, if I understand correctly, is not the same as scholberts or roglios was. I have working IPL and partially working SPL, that is, I think I have
Is there any method of writing SPL into ram and running it in this situation? Maybe then USB will be working and let me flash new firmware? I found solutions like this for some other HTCs but I don't really know how to load something into RAM, because it looks like it is unaccessible at the moment (errors in openocd, zeroes readed by urjtag). I'm working with newest openocd version, it recognizes PXA270 without problem, same as urjtag.
Or is it possible to restore Uni via KITL mode? Maybe I try to download software required in topic about Hermes and run it at some free time, but I have to connect my old windows box to internet
I'll be very thankful for every answer and I hope that this Uni will work once again
P.S.: I'm sorry if some of statements are not understoodable, I lack possibility of using english daily and practicing it, so my english is little poor
Best Regards, Karol
#------
Ah, yes, I forgot. Not black screen after combination of backlight+power+reset, but Serial + v2.01. Does not react to USB. If I connect USB first, then reset, it's "USB v2.01" - device not recognized. The same with SD card inserted -> reset -> "USB v2.01" -> took card -> unrecognized...
Welcome to forums,
Have a read on the thread just above this one, you´ll find almost all you need
Hi!
Thank You for your answer. I have already read this and other topics regarding "stuck at bootloader" and other problems, and tried all the provided solutions, with no luck
The main problem is usb not working properly. I'd rather not suspect hardware damage, because it works in KITL mode.
#---
I've done some more research. Downloaded and installed Platform Builder, and following instruction for hermes (changing only processor type) tried to run system through KITL, but with no success, image (awfully small - about 900kB) was downloaded to device, but there was no answer from it - KITL screen have not changed.
After few tries I focused on another method - based on tomal's SDFlash_G3. I took 416 byte header found later in topic about SDFlash (OllieD's) and connected it with decrypted official nk.nbf image from O2 and later with one from tomal's rom.
My device was reacting kind of strange while trying to recognize rom from card. For first, it haven't tried at all, not until I !removed! MMC card! (instead of this later I was hovering the sd card slot pin responsible for card detect).
Then, there was two scenarios:
first, when I took card too fast after entering bootloader, it showed message about too short rom
second, where I waited some more seconds, it showed error about sections=1 and not allowing to update
So I searched about this section=1 error and found that it is incompatibility between 416 byte header and rom image - header points that there should be more sections in rom, but there is only one.
Don't really know how to change it, is there any documentation about header structure?
In topic about SDFlash_G3 there was mentioned that this method is "without 2nd device", but I haven't found anything about "with 2nd device", is it worth giving a try?
Can someone provide me with mmc/sd card image (compressed of course) with backup from G4 Universal device done with d2s command?
I'll be very thankful for any help.
Best regards, Karol
Hello there,
my "new" Venue Pro arrived yesterday and i just started to test it.
It had a very old firmware, not even mango ... so i startet updates by zune.
After the third update (for wlan problems, i think it was the "latest" wp7 update) i get an error .... so i restartet the phone an tried again, no success.
I read a lot, not even the microsot update tool could help. So i startet the recover in zune over settings, updates.
The update startet and now i always get an error by 61%. I read a lot again, i even tried to backup it from another comuter (copied image %appdata%\Microsoft\Microsoft Phone Update) but the same problem.
So, my "new" phone doesent start any more ... it just loads to the bootloader ...
I tried to get any offiziel firmware to flash the device to "standard" but i seams hat MS dont want this.
I knew a little bit about flashing WM6 devices (HSPL & custom fw) but with WP7 devices i dont really understand what to do in this situation.
I hope you can help me! Can i download the dell firmeware someware to recover the phone? maybe someone have a "personal recover firmware" for me?
Thx
If your device can load into download mode (that you called "bootloader") it can be restored to 7004 T-mobile branded version and later update to 7720 via Zune. This is only one available firmware on the public.
Look at this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1411300
THX!
I will try ... downloading ...
So, i downloaded VenuePro_flash_GLEOS2A_US_TMO_SIGNED_SWV0105_LP0030_RV001_RETAIL.ffu and thought, everthing is getting fine.
But i had no idea how i can install this!
I´m reading hours and hours, tried to use UpdateWP.exe (crash on 2 computers, where NO MS Support tools are installed), Windows_Phone_7_Backupv1.9, MangoB2-ZuneClient, Zune 4.7 .... no success.
Could sombody please tell me, how i can install this on Windows 7 x64? I dont know what to do ...
I get this message when i try to updatewp it;

As i said before, there is no (more) Microsoft Update Software on my computer and on the second there never was it.
Mybe i could handle it with the "MangoB2 Updater" .... but i cant download this anywhere.
I really have no luck :-(
Do not panic yet. You have different versionsof zune or updatewp /missing files
Deinstall everything related to zune.DONT TOUCH EVERYTHING RELATED TO MS SUPPORT TOOLS, IF ITS INSTALLED IT DOESNT INFLUE ON PROCESS!!!
Install Net framework 3.5, 4;
Install Zune(take it from zune.net);
Install wp7 updatetool from zip attached here here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1306415 with proper x64 file.
Follow those steps after connecting device in download mode:
Extract command prompt to C:\program files\zune\
go to directory to “C:\program files\zune\ and run Command prompt. Type in : “UpdateWp /list” and your phone should show up there.
If your phone is listed (it should be) and your download is done and extracted, copy the VenuePro_flash_GLEOS2A_US_TMO_SIGNED_SWV0105_LP003 0_RV001_RETAIL.ffu file over to the” C:\program files\zune\” directory.
Type in: “updatewp /ffu VenuePro_flash_GLEOS2A_US_TMO_SIGNED_SWV0105_LP003 0_RV001_RETAIL.ffu” enter, update should start.
YES IT WORKS!
Great, now i can start my dell venue pro again and even updating is functional.
But why can´t i change the display language? I tought i´m able to change the display language in this roms? In all WP7 phones (in germany) i could change the language at the first start (and after a reset).
*argh!*
On this site i found language packs, but that is a little bit ... argh?!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1306415
so it´s over ... i send the phone back ...
Thank u very much 4 helping.
Hi guys,
I'm probably being really daft and missing something really obvious but I've been going round in circles for about a week on this now without any success and starting to tear my hair out. Proficient enough at flashing ROMs [the joys of HD2 ] and been working in IT support and consultancy for 20 years so the PC side is OK too - have tried searching through the various threads on here along with Googling but can't seem to find anything conclusive regarding my situation and hope someone could point me in the right direction.
Orange M5000 - rebranded HTC Universal, obviously
Pressing Power + Lamp + Reset does not appear to take me into the bootloader - I don't get a screen saying 'SERIAL'
I get a screen offering the following options:
Boot Options:
Enable KITL
Clean Registry Hive
Format Storage
with the following at the bottom of the screen:
R 1.03.00
G 42.36.P8
D 1.30.90 WWE
Using the small curser keys and button below the screen I can select any of the above options and select YES or NO
Pressing the button changes to another screen with a white background and the following options:
Select KITL Transport:
USB KITL
SERIAL KITL
Ethernet KITL
Select KITL Mode:
Active
Passive
And I can get no further...
I realise that we're probably missing something really obvious and/or basic out but for the life of me I can't find the answer! Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide.
Cheers,
David

Thanks for the prompt response! Had guessed that problem would be something basic we were missing
Now we've come across another!
We can get into the bootloader fine with it showing SERIAL and when we connect the cable it changes automatically to USB. But...
Trying to run MaUpgradeUt_noID always gives an Error 150 ROM Upgrade Error - tried running as Administrator - no change
Its interesting that the picture in the utility is not of a Universal - dunno if this is relevant?
If we try to use the ROMUpgradeUT that is in the ROM directly, we get an Error 101 Connection Error
Picture in this instance is of a Universal however - again, dunno how relevant this is?
We'll get there

Works fine for flashing my HD2 via the usual methods.
Guessing there's either something we're missing in terms of running some compatibility settings [although we've tried] or that it may be a driver issue. Drivers noted in the thread about flashing Uni from Vista won't install however...
