Nexus N1 Dock do video ? - Nexus One General

I got the Nexus 1 and the dock, it came with cable for Audio, I also have a cable for audio and video (from the N97) does the Nexus and dock support video to a TV or stereo ? or is it just audio from the dock ? how about the nexus itself will if I hookup the cable for video and audio will it do it or just does audio ?
thanks

Have you ever seen audio AND video out of a 3.5mm plug? Nope...

Never mind

What ? !!! Are you serious or joking ? as I posted above I have a cable that came with the Nokia N97 it is a 3.5 mm plug, and YES it does audio AND video at the same time, its a feature on the Nokia's called TV out, this has been offered on the Nokia's for a while now, some models even include the cable for it (like mine did), I have watched many videos from my N97 AND N79, hooked up to a TV and get audio AND video from the 3.5mm plug, I just wanted to know if anyone knows if the Nexus Dock do video or is it just for audio, I have not tried it because I am afraid I might screw up something on the N1.

Most of Nokia phones use the 3.5 mm jack for TV out... I've used 5800 and it does use the 3.5 mm jack for video out....

Research is critical, video out from a 3.5mm plug has been around for years

I'm about 100% positive that its audio only, if you look at the specs for the dock it has no support for video out
check out the info here

Fair argument... I should have researched. I've never actually seen video and audio out of a headphone jack... but fortunately, my lack of research in this case doesn't change the fact that the desktop dock doesn't do video. I am intrigued though...and now I'm going to Google it, lol...

The real question is, why hasn't anyone besides Nokia done this?
Absolutely NO reason whatsoever for any phone to come out nowadays without TV-out.

Apple have done it aswell...
I know for a fact the iPod video had this. The Classic and iPhone may well do aswell

Bluetooth is amazing!!

Specifically the sound quality when streaming music. Wow is all I can say. I stream music to my motorcycle helmet (Chatterbox Xbi2) and have lots of listening experience with my Garmin Zumo GPS and my 3GS iPhoney. I must say that my i9000 kicks both their tales by a huge margin. I fidelity of the sound is fantastic, a tiny bit of base is lost but holy moly the rest is awesome. I'm not sure if it can attributed to BT 3.0 or what but I don't care, I am happy. Good job Samsung.
agree
i used to stream a lot of BT using previous phone, but the BASE on the i9000 is almost intact even after streaming

Yay. Finally something nice to say about sgs. Mind you we are the only phone with bluetooth 3.0 out so far. Nice

Bluetooth streaming in BMW
I have an Iphone 4 and a SGS and except for the stuttering on my radio. (which the iphone 4 doesnt do) the sound is really really good and is MUCH better than iphone 4 streaming quality. I am very pleased with the quality. I believe Froyo will fix it. . Still cant dial out using Bluetooth on SGS
there are tricks to dial out using BT
and it will depend on your headset or the car deck function keys
or voice activation key

Is it then worthwhile to buy a BT headset?
I mean, will the sound quality of a good BT headset, be as good as a wired headset? And wich one?
I have no idea...
I've been an avid fan of Samsung's Yepp line of MP3 players. They have some of the best quality audio output on the market. WAY WAY WAY better than iPod's.
It's not surprising to see their know-how transfer over to their high-end Galaxy line.

I haven't tried a household bluetooth headset but if the quality is the same as my helmet one I would consider it over a corded version if the circumstance required it. I'm interested in trying out a bunch now just to see.

Playing Angry Birds and Nova on a huge 103cm screen

Hi guys. Last night I managed to get a TV-out cable from a friend (with Nokia Xpress something ). It's just awesome. I've played Angry Birds, Fifa, Nova, Quake everything is amazing really And the movies in 720p are superb.
You mean you can output HD? What cable is that.?
I thought it outputs composite or something..

What is the length of the cable?
The standard cable is too short to hook up to a large screen ~ basically you are sat right on top of the TV.
Any extension cables I have tried don't work... the signal gets lost in the extension cable.
Photos or it didn't happen

It's a standard TV out cable, wasn't the quality too poor? Some games I found playable with this kind of cable but it was not a pleasant experience to watch phone home screen at that quality.
The quality seemed great. I don't have something to compare to.
In my case it's not of HD quality, just like you would watch a DVD movie using SCART (analog) connection instead of a HD movie with HDMI (digital) connection.
Of course it looks cool to see the game on big screen, that bit of makes up for low resolution of the picture (VGA-like).

That's the same cable I have.
However, back to my first question.... what about the closeness of the TV, don't you find using this cable you are sat too close the a large screen?
That's why I tried several extension cables, all of which lose the signal.
One thing I can say using the TV for games playing which I found is games such as Need for Speed ~ On the SGS yes they look great but if you connect to a TV to play the game and set the visuals to where you are sat inside the car you ACTUALLY see the car lurch from side to side.... The screen rocks and it makes it much more playable.
If only one could find a way to sit further from the screen it would be better.
btw... this is not me playing but my Granddaughter.
Cable gives very decent picture quality, just like the first xbox would.

Samsung's new dock for Galaxy S phones. I wonder if it'll work for the Epic?

http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/03/samsung-htib-audio-dock-soundbar-ces2012/
Samsung unveils new HTIB systems plus audio docks with Galaxy S and iPhone support
While it's hardly pulling the curtain back on its entire CES 2012 slate of products, Samsung's earliest preview for your AV pleasure is an updated range of HTIB systems and sound bars, as well as two new Audio Docks that support Apple devices as well as its own Galaxy S phones and players. The DA-E750 Audio Dock (pictured above) is the first to include Samsung's "hybrid vacuum tube amplifier technology" which it claims raises the bar for mainstream audio products, by delivering the clear sound output of digital combined with the natural sound of a vacuum tube in its preamp. Both docks will play from and charge both Samsung and Apple hardware, as well as stream music wirelessly via AllShare or AirPlay, although the DA-E670 lacks that high end vacuum tube tech.
For your entire home theater needs, the new HT-E6730W 7.1 Blu-ray 3D HTIB features the same vacuum tube tech as the DA-E750, while the HT-E5500W boasts an iPod dock and 3D sound effects. Finally the HW-E550 Surround Sound Bar also produces 3D sound with vertically mounted speakers and comes with its own wirelessly connected subwoofer. One other new feature this year is the "Disc to Digital" integration in the HT-E5500W's Blu-ray player which will give users access to streaming copies of eligible discs just by registering into the player. It sounds like it's powered by Ultraviolet, although we'd expect to hear more about that closer to the show. Check after the break for press releases, and the gallery for a few pics of all this hardware -- if you know anything about Samsung, you know the onslaught has only just begun.

These guys already answered, but yes, definitely time. I use mine all the time for when I travel. Nice to be able to crank the volume on videos and watch it on a proper TV in the hotel room.

yeah my phone has mhl and i still run stock based ICS with 4.2 framework added for the reason of being able to use the mhl, if my tab can run hdmi I might consider upgrading my phone to 4.2 base since the reboot with added framework takes forever.

I use a 30$ device called iPush. It's available on ebay and random online stores. Basically you hook that up to HDMI and to your wireless network, install an app on your TF101, and you can watch movies, etc wirelessly on the TV. It's limited to what the app can do, it's not a full hdmi interface but it's pretty nice nonetheless.

Because the quality if perfect and you don't need to leave your device by the TV or have a 50 feet cable. Check out Miracast. It's also a DNLA and Airplay adapter.

[Q] Using external microphone (2pin) without adaptator cable?

Hello,
I just bought Olympus M52W microphone.
I have galaxy note 2 (rooted) and i would like to take videos using this microphone.
At the moment, it works using a 3.5mm 4-Pin to 2x 3-Pin 3.5mm Headset Splitter Adapter but i was questionning if it is possible to record sound without it.
As I know, the internal connector of galaxy note 2 is 4 pin jack :

As you can see picture of mic in the link above, the 2 pins doesn't correspond to 4 pin of phone.
Is it any way to change assignements of phone's pin to correspond of microphone pins? Or it is hardware dependant (as i think...).
Thank you for answers !

No, it isn't.
You'd have to rewire your phone internally.
Why not retrofit your mic with a 4 pole plug?
Also, if you are just using a tiny electret mic, why do you think it will be a lot better than the internal one?

I will try to make adapter with 4pin male jack and 2pin jack female wired for mic ofc.
I tested the ME52W and the sound is much better than the internal.
I searched over the net but i couldn't find this type of adapter.
I only found 4pin to 3pin adapter (headset to headphone) but not headset to mic at the moment.
You're making this harder than it needs to be just to skip using a wire?
