Okay so I think I know at least A solution but I'm hoping that someone here will be able to suggest something besides a hard reset.
I've got a Cingular 8125 a couple of weeks ago. Flashed it to the latest imate rom. I kept it from installing the custom imate stuff but did install some of the Cingular cabs.
Now I'm having a few problems with the phone. It's quite a list.
A) I can't enable wifi at all. At one point I could but the phone locked up on me while I was trying to resetup my connection. I had no choice but to soft reset it. Now I can't enable wifi at all. If I click on it in the comm manager to turn it on it will sit there with the spinning wheel like it's enabling then go back to the same icon with the x on it. I've tried turning flight mode on and off, etc but nothing seems to help it.
B) the phone HAS been locking up. It will just sort of freeze and stop responding. Sometimes I'm able to get to the memory settings in control panel and still have available memory (it's usually been around 16 MB of program memory when this has occured) but even so closing everything will often not help. Even if it unfreezes then it will usually do so not much later and often it just won't unfreeze.
C) sometimes I can't close out the phone application. This seems to happen when Magic Button is running. I click to close it and it goes from the phone to my call history. Closing that goes back to the phone again. I can't get to the Today screen. Pressing the red hangup button would sometimes fix it but usually not.
D) voice command is REALLY wonky using my BT headset (Scala 500). Okay, I know it doesn't officially work with BT headsets and I could live with that. But why does it have to be so damned random?
1) Sometimes pressing the button once will get me the chime. Usually it just gets me a lower pitched tone. If the first press doesn't get it then typically a second within a short time will. Sometimes it takes three though.
2) At one point the phone would usually play my selected ringtone and announce the incoming call over the headset. Other times I would only get the default incoming call sound on the headset and the phone and voice command announcement are over the phone speakers instead. In the last couple of days I've ONLY been getting them from the phone.
3) While typically when I'm using the headset with voice command the feedback DOES come over the headset, sometimes it gives me the confirmations from the phone instead
I think there were a few other flaky issues too but this is the majority of them. Also many of them were present before the rom upgrade so I don't think it's responsible for most of it.
edit: oh, one other thing is that after the ROM upgrade I can't get the default input to stay on anything but keyboard. Even if I change it, I turn around and it's back to keyboard again. I'm thinking, though, that there's a reghack for this?
*bump*

I have the same problem with you. Can anybody help?
any solutions i have the same problem
Try this: back up your PIM, then flash phone back to OEM ROM (cingular, t-mobile, whatever it is for your model). Then unlock it again (if needed), and flash the ROM again. If it's still garbage, try reading the thread for the ROM you loaded (chances are you're not the first to experience this problem, and the other testers of that ROM may offer solutions). If it's still garbage after all that, consider using a different ROM altogether. CRacing's CR86 Touch HD and SVI's ANGEL are both quite nice, and VERY reliable for functionality.
Hello,
I have looked everywhere but can not find any setting for it, and i have upgraded to the latest stock htc rom but still same issue:
Sometimes, only sometimes, when I get a new text/sms message the phone beeps about it, but sometimes it just flashes the green light and no sound. When I turn the display on, it takes a second and then! the beep! for a new text/sms is played. It is very annoying, as I can go hours without knowing I actually have a new message.
Anyone else have this issue? anyone know the solution?
thanks in advance,
modano
yea it happens to me too, duno y tho. Sometimes mine vibrate with no sound and the vibration doesn't stop either, just keeps going.
HTC released a hotfix, go check their website.
I had this problem and found a post on this forum which fixed it:

The advanced config tool is knocking around somewhere, should come up easily in a search, hope that helps...
Hey all. long time lurker, first time poster.
I received my nexus one a few days ago, and it has been a blast. However, after charging it last night ( the first time I charged it via wall charger as opposed to USB) I awoke to find it incredibly hot. I let it cool down, but ever since, the vibration has not worked.
I briefly was able to get the vibration on by taking out the battery and leaving phone and battery by the cold window. It vibrated normally on startup, and briefly in the os before turning off. Since, I have had no luck.
Any suggestions? I could, of course, send it off to get repaired under warranty, but i'd rather see what I can do first. I am currently attempting to drain the battery completely and see what that might do. I'm shooting in the dark, I know, but I'd rather try to figure it out as much as I can.
Thanks!
try a factory reset (Settings>about phone), if that doesnt work its hardware problem so send it in.
Weird, i havent had any problems with mine getting hot. Vibration doesnt work on anything? Keyboard, calls, etc. and youre sure you went into settings and enabled it on those?
settings/sound and display.
Enable haptic feedback.
if the phone is in silent mode this option will be grayed out.
I hope it is as simple as that and that it is not damaged from charging.
I'm having vibration problems too, but I don't think it's due to charging, but to me it seems like the vibration is going out. I was using the haptic feedback for the vk, and now it doesn't work half the time, and when it does, it is not very noticeable.
but the bigger vibrations still work, so I'm clueless on it

I know in better keyboard you can change how long the vibration lasts for, Im using smart keyboard right now and I can definitely feel the press of the keys.

This problem happened on a swap I tried (my screen has dust under it) and I called HTC and said I was sending the swap back because of this and they said it was fine. Give HTC a call, I think its a hardware problem
Thats how mine was, it was charging and got really hot, now when i get text messages it doesnt vibarate but if i get a phone call it does.
a couple of times, when i charged overnight, the phone gets hot. i think if it has a "running" app, it does this.

It's completely normal for the phone to get "hot" when charging or running apps with heavy power utilization... basically anything demands a decent amount of power.
However, it shouldn't get so hot that it's uncomfortable to hold or that parts start failing... that would indicate a defect with the phone and would necessitate an exchange through HTC.

Yes, in fact all notification vibrations fail now (GTalk / GMail Vibration notifications fail). This happened to me just today. Sigh.
Update: Notice I said all notification vibrations. It's specifically notification vibrations. All other types of vibrations such as haptic feedback and phone calls work fine. Only vibrations that pertain to the notifications / notification bar do not happen anymore. I don't think this is a hardware issue. This happened just recently. Could it be due to the new (OTA) update? Something broken?
i can't get mine to vibrate when a text comes in, no matter what settings i use. it will vibrate when a call comes in. i text a lot, so that would be really handy to have it work (like it should) when i'm out and it's too busy/loud to hear the phone but, not sure if i want to send it back because of this...
That's crazy I've never had a phone that vibrates stronger.
I've updated my post above. It's not about the vibration of the phone but just on the notification vibrations. Somehow it just stopped all of a sudden.
Looks like this person might've had the same problem:

(I can't post links since I'm a new user)
Shall try a hard reset and see how that goes then. Rather reluctant to try it but here goes..
Update: Nope. Still no vibration for notifications after doing Hard Reset (using "Clear Storage"). I have even tested this using the API Demos app from the Market. Under App -> Notification -> Status Bar -> Vibrate button there is no vibration to be felt.

use the search function, lol. if you are having problems with notification vibration, download the 'sound manager' app from the market. start it up. press menu > vibrate settings. set it up how you want. fixes the issue.
I searched, but I kept searching for the "vibration" keyword. That thread only shows when you search "vibrate" .. or "notification vibrate". My phone is with HTC now. I don't understand why a Hard Reset doesn't resolve the issue...
fixed

it fixed the problem i had : no vibrations only on notifications ..
never had such a fast phone, thanks to google, timothydonohue, cyanogen and all modders...!!!
Hey guys/gals!! Long time reader here (my 8525 is still going strong). I searched the forums and couldn't find anyone else with this problem yet.
When I'm in a call, the touchscreen doesn't always work. Sometimes it will and most of the time it won't. I can hit the home key, and the I can navigate through Sense just fine, but when I go back to the in-call screen none of the touch buttons work (thus no mute, speaker, etc). I thought it might have been one of the BSB Tweaks, but since the problem is intermittent I really have no idea.
I'm trying to narrow it down to see if it only occurs when I use the phone book, but it's also doing it when I receive a call. I can slide to answer just fine, it's only the in call screen that's non-responsive. A soft reset fixes the issue for 1 or maybe 2 calls but then it does it again. Driving me nuts!
Appreciate the help!!
FIXED!
While a search on the forums did not find the answer, I started reading other posts and found "Tap Time" option on BSB Tweaks seems to be the culprit. I just turned it off and so far made/received several calls now with no issue!

bingo! it took me about 20 minutes of messing with BsB to get it to work again. thankfully, i love my phone and wasn't as tempted to throw it out of the window as say my old G1...
Ok, I get that the screen is supposed to blank out when the receiver is held to ear. However, when I pull the receiver away, it is still blacked out. Should'nt the keypad turn on again? IE need to punch keypad buttons for voicemail etc. Is there some setting I'm missing here.
I'm running the latest TMOUS Energy Rom. Also have BsB tweaks installed as well. I looked over those settings again, can't seem to find anything affecting the screen blank out.
Also, the other problem I have. Using visual voicemail, when hold the phone to hear the message, my ear will cause the delete message screen to pop up.
Sometimes, also when talking on the phone, Ill get the screen you would get when pressing the windows start button. Very frustrating.
So, is there a setting I need, that turns my screen back on when I pull the phone away from my ear. Is there a way to lock the screen from any actions, when using visual voicemail, or talking on the phone?
I did a search of the forums. I couldn't locate anything related to my issues.
Any help appreciated.
Best,
David
try to press a hardware button to get the screen back on again.
I don't use voicemail so not sure how to solve it.
Hello Dr. I do punch the hardware button. I do get the screen back...however, when I do that; the screen wont blank out again, hence I end up opening other menus or programs.
Thanks for your input. After over 80 views, and 1 response; I don't hold too much optimism a solution will be available...but I'll keep checking, in case I do get lucky.
Its linked to the proximity sensor, you might try posting in the TMOUS Energy Rom thread as someone there may have a resolution for you
Proximity sensor always works back on my phone, but I have stock..
if you really need a custom ROM, try Dutty's for a change, it's really close to stock so it might do the trick for you.
