Hi Guys.
Been lurking for a while but this is my first post. I have tried to do as much self research as I can, lots of searches and link chasing etc but feel like I have gone as far as I can on my own. If I have missed something obvious, or just been plain stupid, then I apologise in advance, but we all got to make mistakes, right?
Ok, I have been trying to get weather Data for custom cities on my polaris (with manila2d). I have been able to edit the XML and the custom cities show up in the list in the weather tab, but when i try to update, it says unable to retrieve date. This only happens with the custom cities, all others work fine.
I have tried to follow various threads relating to editing the connection, both by connection setings, and pocket hosts but still have no luck.
I then tried to follow the various stages of N2A's thread, but it seems the only current working way involves a patched HTChome.dll, which I believe manila does not have?
I read into editing the registry to get weather to work in TF3D and tried to do something similar, but again, nothing.
I have managed to get it to work whilst running TF3D and WeatherDatabaseEditor but was not happy enough with the running(bit laggy) of TF3D to use it day to day so reverted back to 2D, and WDE does not work with 2D.
So I now seem stuck. At the moment I am runnin SPB shell (with weather) with a diamond theme, on a second today screen as a sort of work around, but its hardly perfect.
Have any of you guys got weather to work with Manila 2D, or have any sugestions for further reading?
Thanks for any help
James
What ROM you running? most of the custom ROMs have this built in (already working).
So I keep reading, but out of the ones I have tried, none seem to work, though it could just be me being inept. Currently running 3lite3 Full but just about to try KhanX Touch Navia 1.5, fingers crossed...
Is working well with Shiwani's R1 diamond, which seems to be a nice rom btw.
Thanks for help
James
hey, I'm new to the forum, and have never tried any mods or anything, but I found out that I can turn the screen of my phone around from the meny, but each time I go out in touch flo again, it turns back.. is there a way to make touch flo and windows to turn as I turn the phone? using G-sensor, like with images Sorry if this has been posted before, but I tried a search, and thanks for answers or links to answers
The stock TF3D is simply not designed to work in landscape (you get ugly stripes on the right third of the display if you try...).

He's correct, since it sounds like you're on a stock ROM, you will not be able to do this since you have the 'old' manila. You would have to flash your phone to one of the cooked ROMs which has the new manila which (among other things/improvements) supports landscape. For more information, go to the Blackstone>Rom Development section of xda and read up on the stuff through the wiki.
any special roms you would recomend? I heard about the tf3d2.. sounds interesting! got a link to a rom that is made off that one?
Once again, "go to the Blackstone>Rom Development section of xda and read up on the stuff through the wiki." You'll find everything you need there, almost every ROM cooked in the last couple months has the new manila, not to mention that the cooks clearly state in their thread which manila their ROM is using, so you will have no problem finding what you want. Even moreso, there are threads in the ROM section which break down the different ROMs by various categories, including manila used.
Hiya Guys, I've recently installed HSPL on my HD2 and i've tried a couple of different ROMs, so far i've realised i'm not a big fan of the graphical soft keys, much prefer the text ones!
I'm looking for a little but of advice. I am looking for a ROM which is close to stock but does not have HTC messaging as i am fed up of the SMS problems.
Which ROMS do not have the HTC messaging? I know people dont like reccomending ROMs and i am happy to try any/all, i just cant find them!
Thanks,
Martyn
dont know if theres a rom without manila sms. i know dutty made one for hd, but i dont know if he has one for hd2. Did you search for one? If you cant find one when you search, then prob there isnt one out there.
Take a look at Freyberry's ROMS. IIRC he has a version that may be what you are looking for.
WB
After the latest SMS hot fix. I am running problem free with my messaging (at least as far as i have noticed lol)
I tried all the patches but still had the issue, if anything it seemed worse for me!
the one I am running at the moment is Miris XtraLite which would be perfect, except i prefer to just have the text icons for the softkeys whereas this has the windows logo and rounded icons.
Can i just change these icons somehow?
Hello, my name is R and I'm an addict, to flashing, that is.
I had the Rhodium until the 24th when the HD2 came out and I was second in line at the store and was the first one out of there with a brand new HD2. (I know, the other lady had issues... lol...)
Anyway, I installed Cookie's Home tab, System SEVEN for push email, Garmin Mobile XT, Quick Menu and Total Commander on the phone, and it has been running better than the Rhodium ever did, even when I installed the cooked ROMs in it, so much so that I'm afraid to flash a cooked ROM on my HD2 and spoil it...
The things that I miss from the cooked ROMs:
1- Excluding the music tab and the pictures tab from rotation (NRG's Rhodium ROMs with Manila 2.5 can do that, and if i install MaxManila I know that it does that too, but I only ever used MaxManila for the extra links on the home tab and Cookie's Home tab does that with less bloat)
2- NRG's theme with the raised windows buttons instead of the flat ones in the Stock ROM.
3- I just read one of the posts below and remembered how sweet threaded emails were on the cooked ROMs, but System SEVEN didn't play nice with any of the 6.5.5 ROMs, and even some of the regular 6.5 ROMs, so I always had to reflash because the ROMs would freeze after a few hours and I would get an "Application Error" message that didn't go away, even uninstalling SEVEN didn't work... Why do I need SEVEN? I have three hotmail accounts, one personal and two business, and POP3 just doesn't work well, at least not with hotmail (or live mail, however you want to call it) and I haven't found anything better than SEVEN for configuring multiple hotmail accounts for push on windows mobile. Kind of lame when you think about it, because hotmail belongs to M$ and WinMo only allows one windows live account, and blackberries allow several windows live accounts, all with push...
Things that never worked on the Cooked ROMs and work perfectly on the stock ROM:
1- Facebook Integration: On the cooked ROMs, facebook integration kind of worked, I could link my favorite contacts to their facebook profiles and get their facebook pictures on my contacts tab, however, whenever they called me I saw their Outlook picture instead of their facebook picture, and I had to manually add the Outlook picture every time or I would get the generic gray avatar picture instead. On the stock ROM, I always see the facebook picture everywhere
2- On all the cooked ROMs that I flashed to the Rhodium, regardless of the version of Manila, I had to go to task manager and terminate outlook all the time because if I went to the email tab and tapped on Inbox and I was on an account other than the one that was open in Outlook (say I opened my hotmail inbox, then went back to the home tab, then back to the email tab and selected the exchange account and tapped on Inbox) Outlook would hang and I would have to restart it all the time. On the Stock ROM it works flawlessly, Outlook never hangs.
3- For the life of me, I never could figure out how to close Total Commander on the 6.5.X ROMs
4- I use Garmin Mobile XT, and while it worked, whenever the main GUI was open, it left a gap on the top between the GUI and the status bar or however you want to call it.
The Stock ROM is so good and stable that I'm not even going to flash anything until the Stock ROM is available to reflash.
Anyone knows how to exclude the music and the pictures tab from rotation (BSB Tweaks Rotation doesn't play well with rotating manila on the stock ROM, however TX_Total_Landscape.cab from the Touch Xtreme ROMs works perfectly), or anyone knows how to modify the default theme and make the windows buttons raised as in the NRG's themes, I would appreciate it if they let me know. (Some will say search the forums, but I've been searching for 6 days now and haven't found anything)
My two cents.
Peace!
Three row Landscape keyboard
When I first got my Rhodium (OK, TMO US HTC Touch Pro2) I loved the landscape keyboard, it only had 3 rows of keys and was very unobtrusive and functional. Then I started flashing and I really really really (as my 5 year old would say) dislike the new landscape EZInput keyboard layout. I have searched and searched endlessly for the original three row keyboard, but I've had no luck, there is one, but it's only for VGA devices, and I did dump my Rhodium ROM, but I haven't found a way to make a cab out of the dumped modules for the original keyboard (or any other modules for that matter), there are a couple of tutorials here and there, and I have followed them, but maybe because I have windows 7 they don't work, or maybe I'm doing something wrong.
Case in point: does anyone know where to get the below keyboard and install it on the HD2?

When I first got my HD2, my fingers were all over the place and I couldn't click on anything accurately. I really missed my Rhodium but figured that I would adapt to the new capacitive screen and the HD2 didn't have the "Align Screen" available in its settings. I must say that I was still struggling with it until today that I found this and I was able to align my screen and now I can tap anywhere with great accuracy and my days of missing my Rhodium are gone...
Yet another one
And this is the last one...
I will update this thread with the CABs that I install and the ROMs that I flash, and even the CABs that I make to make my phone run smooth and fast...
I don't understand the reserved for future use... Can't you just update the initial post?

I guess I could...
People who plan to include a lot of data in their thread and lots of responses usually reserve a space or two on the thread. This is because some forum restrict the size of a post you can make, even editted. So for instance, each post can only be 500 characters and no more. This allows them to include more information (characters) at the beginning of the thread.
Try this Rom, not sure you will ever come back to stock Rom, give it a try

This is the one I also might try after a month or week of the stock rom, i'm waiting for us to be able to reflash the stock rom...i don't even have the HD2 US yet but it's coming...and i have tons of cabs ready for it...so I would love the auto-install feature of that rom...but yeah, that facebook picture thing would be big for me as well...and on the stock rom some games lag a tad, so i will be using the 3d driver patch cab. and see if it helps.
I just flashed back to stock myself....I've yet to find a custom ROM that was as bug-free as stock
I just wish they'd release an official 6.5.x update. I'll miss the taskbar on the bottom of the screen, threaded emails, nicer stock apps (I prefer Titanium to Sense)....
stock rom....
does anyone know where to download the stock rom for warranty purposes?

There was a link floating around here right after release. Not sure what happened to it.
You can find the stock rom here, under the Leo 2.10 folder, have flashed it myself after testing a few custom roms:
http://www.4shared.com/dir/22189940/b8552fa0/Shipped_Leo_ROMs.html
I find the stock rom really nice too. However I do wish I had a stock 6.5.X to go with though. I miss a lot of the little things in 6.5.X like threaded email, Start button on the bottom, Beautiful menus, and the general ugly is gone.
Yes, one wonders why HTC released the T-MO HD2 with the old version when they will soon be releasing the so called HD Mini with 6.5.3.
The Stock ROM is nice and suitable for your average Joe but for cell phone enthusiasts it is a memory hog and full of bloatware. That said, it would need to be stripped to be worthy of its own thread.

I have to agree with the bloatware part of your statement. However, every cooked ROM that I used had it's own bloatware. Now, I know this is preference, but for instance, I don't like Opera, I prefer plain old IE, however, Opera is installed in all Cooked ROMs and there is no way to uninstall it. There are several other things that I would take out of every ROM, including the Stock of course, but I just havent have time to learn how to cook myself yet. I will soon, though... matter of fact, I'm dumping my ROM right now and will see how I can manage to "clean it up" a little bit and see what happens...
I'm a cell phone enthusiast myself, or at least I consider my selft to be one. My first Phone was an MDA, then I had a Wing, then the Touch Pro2, and now the HD2, and I flashed and customized each and every one of them...

Well the last updated ROM should be ending in 2.10.531.1
Thats the one I'm looking for.
Thanks for you link.
Hello. I am the proud owner of a new HD2. I have also had a TP2 for about six months and they are very similar except for the much bigger screen, the loss of a physical keyboard and much better speed.
I have already Hard SPLd the device and it is running Energy's newest ROM (I have been using his on my TP2 for months and love them) just for the faster speed (supposedly) and better icons across the top. I am also running the newest version of SPL Shell which I love so far.
However, I would really like the thing to auto rotate. I am used to the TP2 rotating for me or at least when I snap out the keyboard. I BsB came with the ROM and I have it trying to rotate SPL but it is not doing what I want. For one thing to register the program you just have to run it and shake. I did this and it looks like it appears in the menu. I can get the carousel to rotate (with some shaking and effort) but that is about it. Any suggestions?
Gyrator is what you are looking for....http://www.google.com/advanced_search?q=+site:http://forum.xda-developers.com&hl=en&lr=&as_qdr=all
Alternatively find and install BSB Tweaks.
WB
Actually he said he has BsB and that it does not work.
I don't know what do you mean by 'carousel'. Anyway .. calibrate your G-sensor first. Then you will have to reboot after the shaking (ie. close BsB, and it will ask for reboot, say yes).
He probably means SPB Shell (which has the cool carousel) and I wonder if BsB Tweaks works with that. Wasn't it made for Sense specifically?
