Thank you for all the replies. And i guess ill just use this thread to post stuff that i might need help with. so i wont have to make new ones all the time.
Situation #2
When i take a picture it saves it to the gallery folder. But if i end up not liking it, it seems that i have to delete it several times just for it actually delete. Am I doing something wrong here? Or is there another way to delete photos taken from the phone?
Here's a video of what the phone actually does....

And is there anyway to do this? or it just does it on its own? I did see the sideways one after you had mentioned it.....

It just does it on its own... no way to control it, as far as I know.

Just another out of control droid

I think it is a cool little touch, just like when your batter is charged and you run the code to check it status in adb, it gives back some goofy message like "your android device is charged and ready for a new adventure!"

I will try and find the post, should have saved it... but someone in talking about rooting either their N1 or G1 or something pointed out that if your battery is fully charged, and you run a battery status command(I think adb) it gave a read out of the stats, then if 100% charged, said "your android device is ready for a new adventure" or something to that affect... they also pointed out funny things like this are all over.

Linux seems to full of quirky weirdness like that, I recall CUPS had a message about your printer being on fire

Bump! Bump! Bump!

What happens if you delete it, press home, then come back? I think it is possible it is "showing" because it takes some time to not just delete the image, but also clear the cache of the image.
Try this, delete the one time, then hit home, then come back and see if it is still there.

Same way you do for a single photo, and it works just fine. What ROM are you running? Have you tried a soft rest to see if the problem persists?

Stock Rom with 2.1update 1 i have the ATT branded n1 that i just got 2 days ago.
and yes i did just do a soft reset and even turned off the phone....still doing the same thing....
But i did notice that if i delete photos off the camera app itself it deletes the first time. Its just when i open pictures from the gallery app i have to delete it over and over until it disappears.....

Perhaps this is just an instance of "touchscreen calibration issues". In other words, the "up event" for your finger press ends up triggering an inch or two below where your finger touched and so it hits the menu softkey instead.
I get this with the keyboard a lot. I'm typing away and suddenly the keyboard goes away like it does when I hit a soft key. It seems to affect some phones more than others and some people's tapping styles more than others. Try making sure your finger lifts straight up vertically rather than on a diagonal towards the direction of the soft keys.
(With respect to why you are able to delete things more easily in other apps - perhaps because the screen is landscape and/or the control to confirm the deletion is more isolated than when you do what you are doing in the video?)

If you watch the video, though, the delete button line itself highlights... I am not sure what the cause is, probably an issue with the base ROM on his phone? Maybe a bad factory flash of sorts... it forgot a 0 at an odd spot that causes it to take three deletes to delete it from the gallery... not sure.

I've had problems where one button highlights and it looks like I successfully pressed it, but just before the menu goes away another button below it highlights ever so briefly. If you didn't see the other button highlight you would have sworn it registered the first button normally.
Given that the soft-keys don't highlight when you select them, if they are the ones that eventually register the touch then you wouldn't see anything different than what happens in that video...

Yeah i thought it was the screen clicking in the different places other than where i put my finger. but doesnt seem like the case. i hit the confirm delete and it hightlighted it and i ddint see any other icons highlighted after i press that....so i dont think it was that. although i did consider that at first.

Is there any way to remove that battery icon...? I use Batti so it's pointless to have it.
I have been waiting for someone to post an answer to this problem since I upgraded a few weeks back. As far as I am aware no one has a solution yet.....

Yeah what was the point if you're just gong to leave the comm manager down there anyway... Also why did they cover the time?! Now I have to have the date displayed on my today screen taking up valuabe real estate just so I can see the time just by turning on my phone. They must have been smoking crack.
BTW does anyone know how to get rid of the comm manager down there. It's one little icon taking up a whole row...!

If I am not mistaken that's the Init_Tray.lnk in your startup folder. If I am not correct, please someone chime in.

It's the program in your startup, just remove it and it wont load
Yeah same here. Wish I could get rid of that stupid battery icon. I want to get rid of the time on the today screen and use it for something more useful again.
Screen estate is "expensive" - the person who finds out how to get rid of it will be my hero for quite some time
I'll pitch in 5 bucks(USD PAYPAL).
I got $5.00 on it as well. I haven't upgraded to the latest rom because of this.
I am happy to join the list of wanters
I have been looking around some places and have a thought...... in the o2 Extended ROM there is a CAB file called "Signed_Remove_BatteryIcon.sa.CAB" I can't run this at the moment as I am at work and dont have a sync cable with me......
Anyone know what this CAB does? Can anyone try this before I get home?
The CAB is in the o2 zip on the FTP site, under Extended_ROMs -> o2
This is likely to be the cab that removes the battery icon from the Tray (bottom of Today Screen). This is where the battery indicator lived pre-AKU2 on many devices.
Just so people know, all the tweaks/hacks out thyere right now for this only removes the icon when in other programs, not out of the tray when at the today screen.

And that's not even really a tweak/hack, is it? Just enabling the clock on all programs - an option in the clock configuration - does that, no?

Correct.
We need to figure this battery thing out... Is it HTC that releases the ROMS or does Qtek and Imate make their own?
Microsoft delivers the OS and APIs/SDK. More than likely, this is a change by MS. HTC adds the HTC-hardware specific drivers and basic hookups (e.g. all default button functionality, what to do when a built-in keyboard is activated, etc.). All the others do the branding, extrom composition, what's extra in the box, etc.
In the end, I guess somebody might post a quick message on one of the windows mobile MSDN blogs to see what the thought behind this change was, and whether it can be undone in any way.
My guess is that you'll have to roll back to the previous battery driver in order to get rid of it. If someone knows how to extract the driver from the first rom and put it into the second, we might get somewhere.

Wow -- I really like that fact that you told us everything that you had loaded too. That really helps being new and such. Thanks.
Ok .. here is mine.
Basically using the HTC Home Customizer with HTC HomeW6.
I have installed the HTX X-button but not really sure I like it. Open to other recommendations.
Also, I have the Stroths-Codyppc LedKiller 3.1, but it doesnt always seem to work -- real strange. Seems like once I sync up, it deactivates or something. Open to a better suggestion here too.
Edit: Actually the LEDKiller 3.1 does work as it is suppose to. I didn't realize that it would start blinking again if I had a vx msg out there. Ahh, still learning.

My today screen looks identical to yours so I won't bother posting a pic.
Regarding your task manager, I fully suggest wktask. It is customizable like crazy. For instance, I have mine set up so that a downward swoop closes all open apps. In one swoop!!! Tell me that's not convenient.

No you can't..sorry lol..
do you think you could run me through setting up wisbar desktop with that vista theme? I tried once, but just ended up locking up my phone and having to reinstall to be able to do anything.
I would be more than happy to help anyone with Wisbar, either advance or desktop. I have become quite fond of the programs. I will tell you that if you are using any of the new roms of new radios, for some reason wisbar is a little glitchy (they are slow to update their software). I used the vista theme for quite a while, had the windows, C:, sidebar, everything. But its a HUGE memory hog. As much as it was cool to show people that I could open a window on my "desktop", it wasnt worth having to wait 10 seconds to reply to a text message because the phone was loading so slow. I am actually using the vista theme right now on wisbar. Thats what the button on the bottom is. The Vista theme (original, not the crappy knockoff ones) is three pages, the one you see on mine, a desktop one, and a sidebar one. I have just removed the last two. If you are still interested, let me know. I have the original files for the vista theme, i can upload it and let you know how to set it up.
And Mr. Nur, I dont really know what you are trying to say in reply to the question about HTC home. The HTC home on my screen is the EXACT same one thats on your screen. I can customize it using HTC customizer if i want to and I have the 6 tab option as well (i just like only 5 of the tabs though.) So I guess i dont really understand the question. I am running that setup with HTC Home?
Win Ce Cab Manager and wallpaper tsks
Does anyone know how to make Win Ce Cab Manager change your tsk files. Or change the wall paper. What i'm tryin to do is install a cab that'll change my wall paper for me.
The only thing I wan't people to do when they see the thread is download that program and post 2 pics of their phone, i'm just hosting a thread so anyone can show people what there phone look's like after putting time into it..
Mine's not anything special at the moment because I just flashed to the new ROM this weekend and I haven't gotten around to setting it up all the way yet. I will probably not do too much customizing until I get a ROM I want to settle on.

Modding The Wing w/ Stock T-Mobile Rom.

Simple question here. I'm guessing i'm one of the very few people here (if not the only one) that hasn't done any hard-spl type modification to my Wing/Herald. So that means I am using the stock T-Mobile rom that came with the phone. My question is, what kind of useful (or just cool in general) .cab files work well with it?
So far I have the slide to unlock, pcshutXP, battery status, digital clock, keyboard skins, a custom black theme and more. I checked the thread with all the .cab files and found all those. Unfortunately, alot of them don't have descriptions so I didn't know what most of them did.
I'm not really looking for anything in particular except something cool that can give me the weather on my today screen and maybe a better alarm program.
Thanks in advance.
right now i have BatteryStatus with the clock extension, then under it HTC Home with weather, launcher, and profile options.
Black WM6.1 theme
Jivetalk - IM program, amazing
removed the tray launcher thing
i can't really think of anything else i've done, i spent forever trying to figure out batterystatus themes and how to get rid of the launch tray, so it seems like i spent a lot of time customizing, but i can't think of anything else.
If anything, I wanna get rid of the T-Zones in the launch tray. But I wanna keep the rest of the things down there. Any idea how? Also, can you give me the .cab file for the HTC Home with weather thing you use? What exactly is it, just weather that displays on your today page? Also, what's the Black WM6.1 theme look like? Any chance of a screen shot or something?
Thanks.

You can use any registry editor to do it. Just go to HKLM\Software\HTC\TrayApplet and delete both keys 4 and 5 there, then do soft-reset.

Cool, I pm'd you back. I also like how it has "Messaging" on the left side and "Contacts" on the other. That's what I originally wanted to do. I don't need the Calander on there since it's already on my today. A few things though. I use battery status. I don't see it on yours. Am I overlooking it or is yours different? Also, i'd prefer to keep the tray I have on the bottom. That's how I open Palringo and lock/unlock my phone. Unless there's another way do to it on yours. Are you able to change the icons that display on the Today screen?
Also, I have palringo. So I don't need JiveTalk.
And technically, I wouldn't lose any of my data on my phone when I use this right? Cause it's not really updating or anything?
i want the stock
right now im on the touch it 4.1 and i want to go back to the stock rom. ive used the RUU but it just goes to 1% and then the phone restarts and then the process comes up as an error. can anyone help?
BTW wyldstallyns2589, I was able to change the weather to fahrenheit. I don't know how I overlooked it, but I found it! Hit the weather tab, then click on the city. Then, click your city in the list and hit menu on the bottom right. From there, you go to weather options. From there, you'll see where you're able to change it from one to the other.
You've been a big help. Thanks alot, I mean it. My phone looks alot better than it did. Any idea if I can get the clock a big smaller? I like it big, but it being THAT big.. it takes up alot of room, lol.

Sounds like someone got caught by their significant other talking to someone they weren't supposed to be talking to. I suggest deleting those emails/texts that you are looking to keep secret... not that I am encouraging that kind of behavior to begin with.

If I am on the programs tab and hit the 'Display Switch' icon that installs when you use PS ShutXP, it shuts the device, but when you turn it back on, it brings you right back to the program menu.
So how can I use the home button? The device screen is off. When I turn it back on, then I have to press the home button? That makes no sense.
There should be a way where if you are on a tab, like the weather tab, and nothing is presed for 10 seconds, it brings you back to the home screen.
I dont mean to come across so sarcastic, but since you think you had the perfect response to the original question, I had no choice.

No where did I say I had the perfect response.
Yes it could be useful in the scenario you are stating.
However I clearly said that you would not achieve secrecy from emails or messages that you want no one else to see. An auto back to the home tab - I don't really see this as a valid solution to keep unwanted eyes from your phone.
But in the scenarios you stated, I'd gladly use it. There have been many a time I have hit the power button on the programs tab and turned it back on to find the programs tab again - then slid my finger to the home tab.
But aren't we just being a bit lazy at the end of the day ?
I'm not sure but I think when you use the default WM lock behavior, the screen goes back to today screen when it's locked

Hope you don't listen to music through TF3D... it would be constantly switching back to the home screen. If you were doing something like driving it would just add an extra step that would make you take your eyes off the road to change tracks.
"There should be a way" sounds a bit like a demand. Are there other features that the people from this forum SHOULD make for your phone? Remember you are asking for help. No one is entitled to other people's modifications. We are lucky enough that there are so many nice people here that are willing to help. Just like the help that was being offered by stating that the home button would do what you wanted. Granted he misuderstood what you wanted but he very well could have just misunderstood and then decided not to take time to try and answer you.

Sounds like someone got caught by their significant other talking to someone they weren't supposed to be talking to. I suggest deleting those emails/texts that you are looking to keep secret... not that I am encouraging that kind of behavior to begin with.

thank you all for your nonanswers and cooprate.
I don't have anything to say
but iam satisfied that the lonely and final solution for all your PPC use which Mr.Beherrschen suggested .
examples :
- if you think to secure your personal data dont look for locking app. simply delete these data.
- if you want to save power for your device simply turn it off.
- if you want your manila auto go back to home tab simply delete all other tabs.- if you can - or sell you diamond as i will do .
and much much more .
bye

Trouble with green line appearing on screen

Anyone got this super irritating problem where u try to touch the screen to activate a button or swipe, but only a green line appears and what u want is not done?
Input was set to TP, but trying to hit the buttons to switch between text and numeric (the top bar) results in it.
Not sure why.....anybody have any idea?

I assume you're using Swype?
If so, you should really be asking those guys the question. It looks like a bug with their software.

Nope....swype has been banished from the phone. Unless it leave remnants behind?
Besides, it isn't active, how can it cause such a problem?
It doesn't just happen at the keyboard area....it happens all over the phone/screen. Even in the Sense interface until a reset makes it go away. It comes back randomly, pretty rare, but it's still irritating.

Okay - I just assumed that because you mentioned swiping and I don't recognise the keyboard.
So you're saying that you can sometimes draw green lines over the Sense UI with your finger? If so, it's definitely a piece of software you've installed, as that's never been seen before and I'm pretty sure it would have been picked up by now.
What did you install last before this started happening? And how often does it happen?
No problem.
I guess as much, but I can't really figure out what is the problematic app. Swype would be my guess, but it has already been uninstalled.
It actually came up a few weeks ago, that was when Swype was still present. But after a reset it went away. Now I have uninstalled Swype and replaced with TP4, and it came back right during a MSN conversation.... You can imagine my frustration in having a conversation when I couldn't swipe and press buttons properly.
Just trying my luck to see if anyone has encountered similar problems.
Finally found someone with the same problem..anyone else?

Trying to find out the culprit app/cab so that it can be gone FOREVER.
OK...it definitely has something to do with the handwriting input. Appeared after a hard reset with no apps/cabs installed.
Hard to replicate, soft reset will make it go away until it decides to rear it's head again. Very infrequently I might add....another point to chalk up to HD2's list of bugs again.

How do you enable handwriting input? I've never seen it anywhere on this phone.

HTC Asian ROMS have a function that allows one to write strokes to create characters. I do not suppose it works for writing alphabetic languages........
