Modding The Wing w/ Stock T-Mobile Rom. - Wing, P4350 General

Simple question here. I'm guessing i'm one of the very few people here (if not the only one) that hasn't done any hard-spl type modification to my Wing/Herald. So that means I am using the stock T-Mobile rom that came with the phone. My question is, what kind of useful (or just cool in general) .cab files work well with it?
So far I have the slide to unlock, pcshutXP, battery status, digital clock, keyboard skins, a custom black theme and more. I checked the thread with all the .cab files and found all those. Unfortunately, alot of them don't have descriptions so I didn't know what most of them did.
I'm not really looking for anything in particular except something cool that can give me the weather on my today screen and maybe a better alarm program.
Thanks in advance.

right now i have BatteryStatus with the clock extension, then under it HTC Home with weather, launcher, and profile options.
Black WM6.1 theme
Jivetalk - IM program, amazing
removed the tray launcher thing
i can't really think of anything else i've done, i spent forever trying to figure out batterystatus themes and how to get rid of the launch tray, so it seems like i spent a lot of time customizing, but i can't think of anything else.

If anything, I wanna get rid of the T-Zones in the launch tray. But I wanna keep the rest of the things down there. Any idea how? Also, can you give me the .cab file for the HTC Home with weather thing you use? What exactly is it, just weather that displays on your today page? Also, what's the Black WM6.1 theme look like? Any chance of a screen shot or something?
Thanks.

You can use any registry editor to do it. Just go to HKLM\Software\HTC\TrayApplet and delete both keys 4 and 5 there, then do soft-reset.

Yeah I figured I could use a registry editor to do it. Maybe i'll try that. Thanks.

Here's my today screen, you can see the black theme, batterystatus, and HTC Home.

I definitely wouldn't mind having mine look a little similar to yours, lol. Do me a favor and pm me the black theme and htc home. Battery status I already have. Yours might be different though? This is something you did with the stock tmobile rom though, right?

yeah i'm on the stock ROM

Cool, I pm'd you back. I also like how it has "Messaging" on the left side and "Contacts" on the other. That's what I originally wanted to do. I don't need the Calander on there since it's already on my today. A few things though. I use battery status. I don't see it on yours. Am I overlooking it or is yours different? Also, i'd prefer to keep the tray I have on the bottom. That's how I open Palringo and lock/unlock my phone. Unless there's another way do to it on yours. Are you able to change the icons that display on the Today screen?
Also, I have palringo. So I don't need JiveTalk.
And technically, I wouldn't lose any of my data on my phone when I use this right? Cause it's not really updating or anything?

i want the stock
right now im on the touch it 4.1 and i want to go back to the stock rom. ive used the RUU but it just goes to 1% and then the phone restarts and then the process comes up as an error. can anyone help?

BTW wyldstallyns2589, I was able to change the weather to fahrenheit. I don't know how I overlooked it, but I found it! Hit the weather tab, then click on the city. Then, click your city in the list and hit menu on the bottom right. From there, you go to weather options. From there, you'll see where you're able to change it from one to the other.
You've been a big help. Thanks alot, I mean it. My phone looks alot better than it did. Any idea if I can get the clock a big smaller? I like it big, but it being THAT big.. it takes up alot of room, lol.

No problem. the clock will not go any smaller, that is why i have switched to batterystatus for my clock.
and i had palringo, but jivetalk is so much better, i suggest you at least try it out. the only thing it doesn't do better than palringo is when your phone is on vibrate it doesn't vibrate

Is there any way to remove that battery icon...? I use Batti so it's pointless to have it.
I have been waiting for someone to post an answer to this problem since I upgraded a few weeks back. As far as I am aware no one has a solution yet.....

Yeah what was the point if you're just gong to leave the comm manager down there anyway... Also why did they cover the time?! Now I have to have the date displayed on my today screen taking up valuabe real estate just so I can see the time just by turning on my phone. They must have been smoking crack.
BTW does anyone know how to get rid of the comm manager down there. It's one little icon taking up a whole row...!

If I am not mistaken that's the Init_Tray.lnk in your startup folder. If I am not correct, please someone chime in.

Yeah same here. Wish I could get rid of that stupid battery icon. I want to get rid of the time on the today screen and use it for something more useful again.
Screen estate is "expensive" - the person who finds out how to get rid of it will be my hero for quite some time
I'll pitch in 5 bucks(USD PAYPAL).
I got $5.00 on it as well. I haven't upgraded to the latest rom because of this.
I am happy to join the list of wanters
I have been looking around some places and have a thought...... in the o2 Extended ROM there is a CAB file called "Signed_Remove_BatteryIcon.sa.CAB" I can't run this at the moment as I am at work and dont have a sync cable with me......
Anyone know what this CAB does? Can anyone try this before I get home?
The CAB is in the o2 zip on the FTP site, under Extended_ROMs -> o2
This is likely to be the cab that removes the battery icon from the Tray (bottom of Today Screen). This is where the battery indicator lived pre-AKU2 on many devices.
Just so people know, all the tweaks/hacks out thyere right now for this only removes the icon when in other programs, not out of the tray when at the today screen.

Correct.
We need to figure this battery thing out... Is it HTC that releases the ROMS or does Qtek and Imate make their own?
Microsoft delivers the OS and APIs/SDK. More than likely, this is a change by MS. HTC adds the HTC-hardware specific drivers and basic hookups (e.g. all default button functionality, what to do when a built-in keyboard is activated, etc.). All the others do the branding, extrom composition, what's extra in the box, etc.
In the end, I guess somebody might post a quick message on one of the windows mobile MSDN blogs to see what the thought behind this change was, and whether it can be undone in any way.
My guess is that you'll have to roll back to the previous battery driver in order to get rid of it. If someone knows how to extract the driver from the first rom and put it into the second, we might get somewhere.

Basically using the HTC Home Customizer with HTC HomeW6.
I have installed the HTX X-button but not really sure I like it. Open to other recommendations.
Also, I have the Stroths-Codyppc LedKiller 3.1, but it doesnt always seem to work -- real strange. Seems like once I sync up, it deactivates or something. Open to a better suggestion here too.
Edit: Actually the LEDKiller 3.1 does work as it is suppose to. I didn't realize that it would start blinking again if I had a vx msg out there. Ahh, still learning.

My today screen looks identical to yours so I won't bother posting a pic.
Regarding your task manager, I fully suggest wktask. It is customizable like crazy. For instance, I have mine set up so that a downward swoop closes all open apps. In one swoop!!! Tell me that's not convenient.

No you can't..sorry lol..
do you think you could run me through setting up wisbar desktop with that vista theme? I tried once, but just ended up locking up my phone and having to reinstall to be able to do anything.
I would be more than happy to help anyone with Wisbar, either advance or desktop. I have become quite fond of the programs. I will tell you that if you are using any of the new roms of new radios, for some reason wisbar is a little glitchy (they are slow to update their software). I used the vista theme for quite a while, had the windows, C:, sidebar, everything. But its a HUGE memory hog. As much as it was cool to show people that I could open a window on my "desktop", it wasnt worth having to wait 10 seconds to reply to a text message because the phone was loading so slow. I am actually using the vista theme right now on wisbar. Thats what the button on the bottom is. The Vista theme (original, not the crappy knockoff ones) is three pages, the one you see on mine, a desktop one, and a sidebar one. I have just removed the last two. If you are still interested, let me know. I have the original files for the vista theme, i can upload it and let you know how to set it up.
And Mr. Nur, I dont really know what you are trying to say in reply to the question about HTC home. The HTC home on my screen is the EXACT same one thats on your screen. I can customize it using HTC customizer if i want to and I have the 6 tab option as well (i just like only 5 of the tabs though.) So I guess i dont really understand the question. I am running that setup with HTC Home?
Win Ce Cab Manager and wallpaper tsks
Does anyone know how to make Win Ce Cab Manager change your tsk files. Or change the wall paper. What i'm tryin to do is install a cab that'll change my wall paper for me.
The only thing I wan't people to do when they see the thread is download that program and post 2 pics of their phone, i'm just hosting a thread so anyone can show people what there phone look's like after putting time into it..
Mine's not anything special at the moment because I just flashed to the new ROM this weekend and I haven't gotten around to setting it up all the way yet. I will probably not do too much customizing until I get a ROM I want to settle on.

Theme critique

I've been working on this... it will eventually be a full theme, skinning the today screen, cube, media player, ect.
This is how it looks right now..

One of my favorite aspects so far is the theme can be easily "customized" by changing the background to almost anything else, and everything else still looks nice.
I'm trying to figure out how to change the top bar.. I'd like to change it to black, but still keep that kind of "3D" look that it has now unlike the other themes ive seen which have a flat black top bar.
The AIM icon can be fixed up a little bit, It came out a little more grey than i wanted.
What i'd like, but i dont know how it would work would be above the icons i have on the bottem id like a sliding bar (kind of hard to explain, it should look something like [ ] [ ] [ ] ) and each one of those boxes will be a picture that when hit will act a speed dial. Preferably id like the boxes to be greyscale till pressed and held down it turns to color.. Anyone know if this can be done?
Suggestions, Ideas, Feedback welcome..
Great!!
Keep up this work!

I like it so far. I think that the clock text (12:06 AM) should look nicer if its smoothed out. The edges look really pixelated. Some way to make the text flow with the theme would definately be a plus.
i think it would look great with a flat black bar. also, if you integrated some sort of icon(s) showing if BT or wifi is on, this theme would be bomb.

Can't remember exactly where it is, but to get black bars (black with the 3d effect) you need to change the "BaseHue" value to 160... I can't remember where in the registry that is, but it's somewhere! I'll dig it up when i have the time...

Looking for enhanced taskbar icons as used in EnergyROM

Hi All,
Sorry if this is n00bish question...
I had EnergyROM 2.1 standard installed and loved all the customisations, but pretty much hate TouchFlo so when the new version of 6.5 came out i reflashed but this time with the Titanium edition.
However the Titanium isn't just without touchflo, it also doesn't have the cool icons as the standard version, which means no 1 percentage battery and no nice graphics.
Even worse the titanium extraction isn't totally white icons, there was the fancy one for the speaker left over but the rest monogram white black, so had to install the stock white icons cab to get consistency.
Anyway, can anybody tell me:
How can I install the icons as found on the top taskbar of EnergyRom Standard?
How can I have the percentage of battery being displayed?
Many thanks is advance.
I'd like to know this too. I'm using SPB Mobile Shell so have no need to TouchFlo, but I do miss those icons!
Shell does have a battery widget that shows me the level to 1% accuracy (assuming is it actually accurate, but that's another topic!), but I'd definitely like the USB/Sync/WiFi/GPRS/HSPDA/Bluetooth icons to match the volume one, which looks out of place now!
I was also hoping that using the Titanium version would fix my problem with broken Contacts links in the phone dialer, but it doesn't. I think this issue is more down to SPB than the ROM though.
these links are what you seek:

yea thats cool no worries glad 2 help, I often use google and would search something like "colour taskbar icons WVGA". WHich reminds me this site has some good ones too: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=54514
These cabs to install a new set of colour icons are great however you may find you like some of the icons from one cab more than others and so may want the speaker icon from one mixed with the bluetooth icon from another. It is possible to replace these icons (which are just .dll system files located in the Windows directory). The link I provided has a lot of info on how to do this...

great tip, didnt realise they were only dll's. That's gonna make it easy for me to customise.

ask in his thread m8y and someone may create a cab for you

I got what you were saying. Cheers for all your help.
Seems theres another guy in the same position too so should help highlight the issue (don't want to bother or annoy the Chef though as He does a fantastic job).
I'm not 100% sure, but I believe this is the one:
Brain's Taskbar WM6.5
Look to see what are the files that topbar icons use.
Then flash energyROM and rip off the files from the ROM...
not quite but they certainly are a good stopgap until I locate the real deal. I actually quite like these though
It's the numerical battery which is impotant, which these have.
Bizarrely it's the speaker from this pack which appears to be embedded into the Titanium version of the EnergyRom, must have just been a bit of a sloppy build.
Thanks.
Is there a cab for a transparent taskbar? I've tried everything and none seem to work.

How would I go about ripping the taskbar icons out? I have Energy Rom installed on my Rhodium, but i want these task bar icons, primarily for the 6 signal bars: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=570186
I have a TP1 to flash this ROM to and rip it off as you say. Please let me know how! If I have to dump the ROM please tell me how to create as a .cab file and I will share it.
It is most likely the tsowen custom taskbar. Search for my previous posts--I've uploaded them twice.

This is my favorite custom icon set, although currently I am using the default white icons that came with the leaked TMO ROM.

LauncherPro FTW!

I just switched from sense to Launcher Pro Beta, and I must say that it is amazing... It's just so much more predictable and useful, not to mention faster and smoother. On top of that, from what I have heard, it is great for battery life, just switched so I haven't had a chance to test that out yet.
If you haven't given it a shot yet, download it from the market and try it out, I promise you will not regret it. Its MUCH better than sense. I never had a problem with sense, but I just figured Id try something new, and it paid off...
P.S Does anybody know if the new software patch that came out today will be included in any of the developers roms? I'm not to sure how that stuff works.
ADW.Launcher is also a worthy alternative, imo. Very customizable.

There should be an updated DamageControl out tonight built off the OTA.
And yes, LauncherPro is definitely the best launcher that I've used! I love it!
I downloaded this from the market to try it out but it doesn't look like anything has changed. How do I switch to it and possibly back?

Press the Home key, and you should get an option to select between HTC Sense, Launcher, and LauncherPro. If that doesn't work, just download Home Switcher from the Market.

There we go, thank you.
I loved the extra speed and how the shortcuts were laid out. I also liked that you didnt have to have the writing under each icon. BUT I missed my full screen calendar, toggle widgets, etc. So Im back to sense. I dont have access to these when using a different launcher. Am I doing something wrong?

You can't use HTC widgets outside of the Sense launcher. However, there are replacement widgets in the Market for almost everything you are missing. For example, Pure Grid Calendar Widget and Weather & Toggle Widgets.

I played around with it after that post, but just couldnt get it how I wanted it AGAIN. So Im back to sense haha. I really need 6 icons on the dock at the bottom to avoid extra icons on my home screen. I also wanted a 4G toggle to match the rest, and that doesnt seem to be out. The only one out (that I could find) is a light bulb..

You know with LauncherPro you can change it to 5 rows of icons (20 total) on the screen at once, right? You can potentially have 28 more slots than with Sense.

Im talking about JUST the dock at the bottom. Not shortcuts added to the screen itself. Right now I have the rosie bar at the bottom that launches my app drawer/phone/etc. Then I have 4 icons above it. Handcent, Gmail, Internet and People. With LauncherPro I can have all 4 of those on the dock, but then the 5th spot is taken by either the app drawer or phone. I want both. I know you can do the scroll thing, but its not the same. I just like a simple look and wanted everything I have now on my HOME screen.
Here is the setup now. I want all of the same access on the home screen, and it cant be done with LauncerPro. 5 short cuts on the dock and then a random widget on the screen just wouldnt look as clean.

Edit-And the 4G toggle thing is something I really wanted to. If I could get one to match the rest of the toggles, I would be happy with LauncherPro.

ADW.Launcher works pretty good.
A few things I like:
- You can make as many columns and rows of Icons as you want per screen (up to 8 x 8, so that would be 64 icons per screen).
- Swipe down anywhere on a screen to make the top bar come down
