You dont see and link cuz the OP couldnt post links (to new to the site).. He tried to post the info you would add to the link.. which i couldnt figure out so i googled it.. But i think this is what he meant.

IF you add up every android phone on that list.... it just barely meets the iPhone 4 figures. That's sad

I did a rough estimate of the android phones and came with 11+k and that was like and hour ago. The iphone is only at 9k.
I dont see anything sad about android winning, even if by not much. Its a new OS that people are just now discovering. The only thing sad I can see is that there are still that many people still stuck on Apple phones.

I would get an iPhone 4 in a heartbeat, but instead Ive got my Evo 4G!!! I like Sprint Better than At&T and thats why I stick with them, one can only hope a the CDMA iPhone comes to Sprint. One can dream!

Yep, I'd get an iPhone 4 too, simply because I like it's design a little bit more than the Evo and I love it's keyboard. I'm not a huge fan of apps anyways...I just need texting, a damn browser and a good keyboard.

keyboard? lol the evo has a MUCH larger keyboard then the iphone. well a touch screen keyboard. Neither one has an actual keyboard

The on screen keyboard on the iPhone is better than the one's on the EVO. At least they are for me.

In all honesty, any OS (mobile or otherwise) doesn't stand a chance vs Apple products. Gizmodo has always been very pro Apple and Steve Jobs, as are a lot of their readers. However Android, at the rate its going, should be a monster in a couple years and have the phones to compete with AT&T / Apple

Wall Street Journal confirmed today or yesterday I forget that 2011 Verizon will get a CDMA iPhone 5.

So this was rather funny. I have a friend who just got he Droid X yesterday and he used to have the Droid since the day it came out. He always has to outdo everyone and have the best. I got a text this morning that said: "Got the 2.3 software update B*tch". So I looked it up because I know it isn't true and sure enough find out Verizon called this update 2.3.340. And we all thought that we were getting teased with Gingerbread LMAO! Epic fail on Verizon's behalf. They have seemed to screw up on a lot of things lately. That's because it's referring to the phone's 2.3.340 system version...not android version. It's still 2.2 android froyo

The point of this wasn't to refer to the Droid x at all. I love my evo I just thought it was hilarious that Verizon called the update 2.3. They certainly got a lot of ppl excited over nothing.

IT PISSES ME OFF! like on a scale of 1-10, its an 8 for me. motorola is retarded for coming up with that catchphrase. now whenever i am playing with my epic, people say "ohh is that the droid for sprint"? and i say "NO ITS NOT CALLED 'DROID' ITS CALLED A SAMSUNG EPIC 4G. DROID IS A CATCHPHRASE, THE PHONE DOESNT RUN DROID, IT RUNS ANDROID!" sorry i am just ranting, but i know this annoys alot of other android lovers...

I'm not sure if it was Verizon's idea or Motorola to use the "Droid" brand, but every time you hear "Droid" on a Verizon commercial, George Lucas gets paid. Kind of ironic considering he uses an Iphone.

Verizon owns the name...because Droid Incredible and Droid Eris were made by HTC..Verizon spent 100 million on that campaign which really made android break a lot into the market...
That said it does tick me off when people say that..but I don't exactly flip out..I just explain to them that they are wrong and its called Android, and Droid is a marketing campaign by Verizon..and how the Epic is better then any Droid anyways lol

Well it's certainly wrong but it doesn't annoy me that badly. Sometimes if I'm trying to explain to somebody who isn't tech-savvy "Droid" is the only thing they can relate to.
It's really the same thing as Kleenex vs tissue, etc. Like it or not Verizon has created an extremely successful marketing campaign.

They don't own the name. "Droid" is a trademark of Lucasfilm industries. Verizon pays commission to use it. Which is one of many reasons why their customers pay $20-$30 more than us.

I don't know but for some reason I like the name Droid.I put the droid eye live wallapapers on both my Evo n Epic n even have the sound file that saids Droid on both phone for incoming text.On my Evo I put the Droid start up animation 2.I guess it's because my 1st android phone was a Motorola Droid followed by the Droid Incredible.

It's like people asking what's the difference between an ipod and an mp3 player..... NOTHING!!!!!!!!

haha, well played sir.

very annoying, even worse being the people that KNOW what they are talking about (ie, people here) being VERY excessive about it (ie, wallpapers/sounds/themes)

I always just reply "yeah, this is an android based phone so it runs the operating system as the droids and other Android phones."

Its annoying but I will say this, Verizon and Droid are a HUGE reason Android has been so successful. The Droid commercials are the reason I upgraded from my blackberry to the moment.

+1 on above... bothers the retentive tech geek in me, but that marketing got the ball moving... that and I'm a little bit of a star wars geek... so I just clarify and proceed to attack iphone

well, i had the VERY first android phone, the G1. so i know it as ANDROID. i think that people that got in the android business before the "droids" came out are a little more...strict when it comes to that catchphrase. that's why it irks me so much. ive had a G1, MT3G, HD2 running android, EVO, and an EPIC.

I was at hooters once and the waitress made the comment "Oh is that the new droid phone" but it wasn't. It was a nexus one and I didn't defend it! Damn their service! It should of been andriod before hooters. Sorry android.

Inc's are nowhere near iphone wannabes. I have both and while i love my X my incredilbe is still easier to use and hack. Title says it all especially after moto's blunder yesterday on the atrix page. Come on moto, you really arent working on anything and if you are it will probably mean a new developer device and not a fix for those of us working with the current ones.

also. Incredibles are nothing like iPhones. They are sick ass phones. Anywhoo on the good side of things motorola either tweeted or said on facebook that they would be working towards making their phone developer phones again and marked the locked bootloader section on their support forums as "implemented"

The inc is by far the best phone on Verizon right now in regards to hacking and ROM's. Anyone who hates on it is, well, is a hater The X is a good phone in terms of hardware, but the inc community is simply awesome. iphone it is not.
Motorola is listening guys! It may not happen with the X, 2, but I'm willing to bet the new moto phones will be more easy to manipulate. They see how it will hurt them in terms of future sales.

I really doubt it would hurt much when it comes to sales since a majority of Droid owners know nothing of the phones true potential. Although that was a crappy statement to make on motorola's part. As a consumer it really makes me think twice on what phone I will purchase next.

Even though the average consumer wont be rooting and what not, I'm sure many of these average users will read the comments of all the Modders and be put off on buying a moto: phone.

that will never happen... those companies are very happy right now however. the patents from motorola secure androids future against attacks from microsoft and apple, which is great for companies like samsung and HTC who are heavily invested in android
