I have problem installing some cab files, when I try to run them it keeps going to the Today screen where you select your theme. Can anyone help me please or has anyone had the same issue.

I just experienced a similiar problem.. I press the .cab file and nothing happens, when I spam press the file I see "Start" name come up in the taskbar for a half second or something.
Hard reset
Sorry, the only way I was able to get out of this was a hard rest.

Hi,
I have a cingular 8525 with the default cingular ROM ( will change it later want to wait a litle while)
I am trying to install a Cab and i get this notification:
the installation was unsuccessful. The program or setting cannot be installed because it does not have sufficient system permissions
I know this is a simple registry hack and i seen a couple but I have not seen anything specific to hermes.
Please give me a link to directions

I installed the Remove Security Cab and it installed with no problem, but when i try to install: CommButton-Toggle-Vibrate-Fix.CAB
I still get the same notification.

Did more searching still cant solve it
I read some more posts and found that making sure processes are not running might solve the problem.
I went to memory and stoped all programs and I sitll can't install the: CommButton-Toggle-Vibrate-Fix.CAB
Are there like system processes which are not showing up in memory - running programs ? Maybe I need to get into those and stop them?
Any other sugestions?
Please point me into the right direction.

Purely on the point of running processes - these will not show up in programmes in memory (except in very broad terms). An application such as sktools will show running processes.
(I am not saying this will solve your problem though)

ok i will try getting a prog and stoping more stuff to see if i can install?

As a general rule, if I have an "unstoppable" process, I power cycle the phone and then execute the cab without opening ANYTHING else (like the comm manager in this case). Give it a shot.
I just tried that turning it off and on and trying to install, also doing soft reset and trying to install. Nothing works as soon as I click on it in a second i get "Installation was unsuccessful. The program or setting cannot be installed because it does not have sufficient system permissions."

Finaly got what I wanted
I never got the stupid cab to install, but I found a different cab which let you assign vibrate to anything ( http://www.8525software.com/)utilities so when i hold PTT button it switches to Vibrate

damn, my mogul got f*cked up after installing touchflo. Not trying to blame this program but maybe there could be some conflict? After i installed it and didnt really like it, i tried goin to remove program in setting to remove this, but guess what, nothing showed up in there. For some odd reason i cant remove any program from my phone because the screen was blank. Then i tried to install another program and said unsuccessful whenever i tried to install anything. Does this happened to anyone else? any solution
I have the same problem on mine. I will let you know if I can figure out a solution.

I had a different problem awhile back after installing Total Commander, any new programs that were added didn't show up in the remove programs menu.
What I had to do is use Activesync to remove them, not sure if it will work in your cases though, but hook up with A.S. and on your PC in A.S. open tools/add remove programs and check/highlight what you want removed.

This just also happened to me. I also found that I could not install programs and that me phone would not sync... This happened right after installing Slither Cube, and efrost FTouchFlo.. so I went to uninstall and ran into the same thing...Deleted items from the startup folder and still the same thing.. deleted files from the program files section and same, also tried a soft reset 10X....so I had to do a hard reset....

I just hard reset. After reading everywhere, this was the only option.

i think that was mine,lost everything in my storage memory and couldn't sync up to my desktop after installing the touch flo cube cab.ended up hard resetting and starting over,no cube till someone figures out what caused that.

Poorlyduck has a good cube that doesn't cause this issue, its over at PPCGeeks

Just got my htc touch hd, installed a few cabs (Fennec, skyfire and what not), however when I now click on other cab files i have put onto my storage card, they will not install. The green highlight bar just flashes when i click it and the "Up" and "menu" at the bottom flash and disappear. I have tried double clicks, single clicks - the whole lot! Does anyone know why it is doing this and how it can be resolved please - without a hard reset lol.
Furthermore, my end key does not lock the device when I hold it, despite the settings saying it should. I have downloaded pocketsheild so hopefully wil;l; that fix it in a way? However I cannot install it!!!!!

I have this problem after install and reinstall some apps in order to get a simple program to do softresets in my Topaz (D2):
Every time I turn on my D2, and inmediatly after to input my pasword, it opens the menu asking me if I want to turn off my device (see screenshot).
I think one of the apps that I tested has made some changes in the registry, but I have no idea about where can I find these changes.
Someone can help me? maybe someone knows which part of the registry I must look to solve my problem...

Solved: One of the apps installed a file called "ShutXP" in the "Windows/Start" folder. I deleted this file and it solved my problem.

recently i installed the S2U2 app ,i used it for a while and earlier today i uninstalled it
the problem is that now pressing the red (hung up) button doesnt lock the device
i suppose something must be don in the registry but i dont know what.....

Have you tried a soft reset?
If yes it might be a good idea to do a hard reset but make sure you back up all your info.
There is a .cab on s2u2 offical website to restore wm6.5 lock screen and if you can't find it try to google RestoreWM65DeviceLock.cab file and install it.
That will solve your problem. No need to change registry settings.
