I have been playing with the store demo for the T-mobile HD2 for the last couple of days. Mostly I'm very impressed with the phone, but the one thing that is driving me crazy is that Google reader is completely useless from the browser. I have tried opera 9.7, opera 10, and opera mini and all of them mangled the formatting to to point that it is unusable. The mobile site is not any better. Any solutions?
Thanks
I use the RSS reader included in the HD2 and export my google reader subscriptions to it.
Google should really bring out an app for that. Otherwise just sort out their website.
there is an google reader app on opnmarket but i think the link is down at the moment

I've tried it but performance is poor
I'm not tied to google reader
I should mention that I'm not tied to using Google reader, I like using Google reader because I can access it from my phone and my computer and and keep it in sync between the two. I would be open to trying other rss readers with the same ability if anyone has alternative suggestions.

if you use iphone link of Google Reader with Iris Browser will be a perfect couple.
excelent tip, really liked!
Thanks!
Thats freaking perfect Thank you.
This above mentioned Speeedreader works perfect for me, I use it for months now, and I'm really content with it.
A new version is coming soon I've read.
Perfect tip indeed!
I was just going to buy SmartRSSTouch just for this. Now it seens I don't need it anymore.
Thanks!
There doesnt seem to be a way to add a star on the iphone reader page.
I've been using smartrsstouch for months, best greader i've tried. Only issue, it keeps asking for userid and password when used over 3G.
Awesome tip, thank you! The standard reader was impossible to use...
Any tips on how to contact the speedreader developer in an attempt to report (and hopefully get a fix for) a bug with right to left feeds display ? This is, more or less, the only thing that voids me from using it. Note that SmartRSSTouch got an identical issue as well.
Bug description: RTL list entries are displayed with the html code, that is supposed to switch the list entry to RTL, shown as text instead of being applied to the list entry. Reproducible with any RTL feed (anything Hebrew or Arabic should do), for example, this feed - http://www.ynet.co.il/Integration/StoryRss2.xml

thanks for the link ...
Sounds like a limited version of footprints, without the fun bit, the maps!
Hmm, that actually sounds usefull. Well, at least, if it weren't for the ultra slow panels.
I'll check this out in a sec.
[Edit] Heh. I like it. Although the INK NOTE is the only one i can imagine myself using, its pretty neat. Thumbs up for S.E. this time!

I use Generic_SE rom with the official R2A update. I tried 3 times to install Evernote panel but it stopped at 50% every time, then you don't hve a choice to cancel it. You must softreset youre device.

It's not, Evernote is first and foremost a noting program. There is also a PC client. It's like OneNote Mobile with ink support.
Can you tell me where these notes are stored?
I mean I never ever used this software before, is it storing it in the internet/server?
I checked it out and it's pretty sweet. (the panel-free version, of course) This seems like a great option if you want to work on a document both on a PC and on the X1 without all the hassle of syncing/attaching/etc. One unfortunate thing is that is seems like once you close an "ink" note, you can't re-edit. (But I have Screenwriter, an awesome handwritten note program)

The Sony Ericsson panels are updating the images as well. If you change the layout or background the images on the panel manager change as well.
ive been using the panel free version of evernote for a while now.. it is pretty cool... very handy...

yeah but if you take a picture with the camera and send it to evernote, then go back to the panels screen while it's in view you can see a small version ( thumbnail ) of your picture on the evernote panel.
Hello to every one.
I am quite a new user of Evernote. I created and account and then I installed this panel. While i was connected through USB I did not have any problem to connect with the Evernote server.
Today I tried to connect through HSDPA to add a new note but there is an error while I am trying to login

First, I thought it was a connection problem, but all panels are connecting normally (facebook, youtube, spb). Also, I can browse internet through IE or opera. I googled it but no results.

loving evernote for android. newest update is fantastic
Hi Guys, just thought id post my thoughts on the Leo.
Ive been using mine now for over 2 weeks having come from an N95(and several failed attempts at finding something I liked inbetween including various iphones, N97 etc etc) so to the thoughts.,
The screen for me was a bit tricky as many have said before, I have huge hands, but decided to persevere.
Has to be said that after about a 10 day period typing messages etc became much easier, after 2 weeks it was brilliant, but then came the eureka moment, which it has to be said was'nt good for me, but telling all the same.
After flashing the ROM, the typing experience became similar to a fair proportion of others on here, infuriating!
Now thinking logicly about it, I decided it couldn't be the screen as was fine before, only thing changed was the ROM, so was software, tried a screen align, hmmm, worse still, did it again, slightly better, but still no cigar, went and checked settings and set to how id had it before, no vibrate(seems to fubar typing), keyboard click on, screen click on, correct as you type on, complete words in both XT9 and ABC both on and did screen align again, now zoila, its better than before(after another screen align) no more false inputs although xt9 has to learn my vocab again(annoying) but it really is a revelation.
Now the only thing annoying me is the long sms list issue (although partialy sorted by selecting all messages and going in through WM)
Can I just add, absolutely epic site guys and thanks to all those that spend there own time making the WM experience better for all!!
Noooo! you've got it all wrong. You're supposed to try typing for 5 minutes, throw your toys out the pram and go buy an iPhone.. *then* come on to xda developers and post a nice long rant about how poor the entire phone / windows mobile is (bonus points for expletives and spelling mistakes).
Fixing problems in an intelligent, logical manner? whatever next?!
I just got my HTC HD2 from Royal Mail. Everything seems to be working flawlessly. The screen is just gorgeous and the navigation is really smooth and snappy. The videos online really do not do it justice.
I've just got a few of questions. I heard that Opera does not support flash, is this true? and will this change in the future?
I tried using IE to open youtube but it doesn't seem to play anything. It has the flash 9 logo and that's it. How do I play videos via the web browser?
Also, when I open up IE it says that it connects using my data plan and I may get charged. Does it not work over WiFi?
I'm just uploading files onto it right now but yes, this device has had my jaw on the floor since I opened the packaging. By far the best phone I have ever owned.

Opera doesn't support flash.
Use the You Tube app already on your handset, it works perfectly.
For playing videos within your browser, download the Skyfire browser for free. I don't like the interface and therefore only use it when I have to but it supports flash and you can play videos and surf for porn on it lol.
gamma500. looks like you still need to find the return key (aka as enter key) as this is the only thing missing in your message. Or did you type it on a PC keyboard, and is the return key (aka as enter key) broken?

Opera doesn't support flash and IE only has 'flashlite' which isn't suitable for playing video. You will need to download Skyfire but the You Tube app will be in your start menu - press the icon at the top left of the screen or the windows button in the middle at the bottom - then scroll through the icons.

I don't have it pre-installed, is there somewhere I can get it? It's wierd that they didn't include it. Is anybody here on T-Mobile UK who has it pre-installed?
Dont have a HD2 ...yet! But from what I have read Youtube is not included on the T-Mobile handset.

Fantastic! Disabling the vibrate response was one of the best things I could do! I can actually type for long periods of time with little errors and the XT9 and ABC is working great now, I didn't realise it could learn... so have been typing in all of my Northern Irish phrases that we use over here!
I'm happy once again, I'm really starting to love this phone; was a bit doubtful at the start and was thinking my N95 8gb looked like a good option to go back to but my faith is growing in this device by the day!
Once again to OP, thanks!
It Just gets better with time Rossimac, which only became apparent after having flashed the ROM and thereby losing two weeks of it.
I want to be able to take notes quickly on my computer and have them readily availble on the mobile. Sounds easy but cant find the right app - any suggestions?
What would be cool is if the notes app was a chrome extension, you click it on type the note and its on the handset. Would be text and numbers and for telephone numbers it would be one-click to dial.
Hi
I have no idea If this exists or not, but if it doesnt it doesn't sound tooooo hard. I want to experiment with Android den and this sounds like a nice learner project. If you're willing to wait what might be several months (!) then maybe I can work with you make it?

3banana app lets you sync notes from your web browser to your phone.
Work pretty well. Not sure how fast it is for your use.
I think there's a Google tasks extension for chrome, use that for notes. Download on your phone something like SSI gTasks or another app that can read Google tasks and there you go, notes on your phone from your browser.

I tried all of them I could find, and Quickmark seems to recognize the bar code much, much faster than anything else out there. Even at weird angles, poor lighting, etc. With other apps I had to screw around and get it lined up JUST right -- some of them only occasionally, others all the time. But Quickmark grabs the code even if it's out of focus and I'm still moving the phone around trying to find the thing...
This, by the way, is how QR-code scanning is supposed to work. The specification has all those alignment marks for a reason. The cheap-o Japanese cell phones that recognize QR can pick out the code quickly and easily, and this is the first smart phone app I've seen which performs equally well.
strange never had a problem with FC on shop savvy.

Alex here from ShopSavvy. Strange that barcode scanner would be faster than ShopSavvy. The current build of both uses the same library for scanning. They should scan at exactly the same speed. We have a new library that is faster than the Zxing library, but we haven't implemented in ShopSavvy yet (developers can get it for free from freebarcodescanner.com). It will be in our next update. Anyway, if you are getting a force close issue all you need to do is uninstall and reinstall. The most common ShopSavvy issue on Android, is the 'force close' issue. We believe it to be an issue with the operating system. The best way to fix it is to uninstall ShopSavvy, reinstall ShopSavvy and then reboot. This seems to get rid of the 'force close' issue. For all other issues check out our FAQ or Support site.
Our FAQ is located at biggu.com/faq
Our support site is located at getsatisfaction.com/biginjapaninc
We are constantly releasing updates (bug fixes and new features) on Android and iPhone. Make sure you are using the most up-to-date version of ShopSavvy.

The FC issue happens to about 1-2% of users after they update the app. Very annoying. Something about the state of the phone at the time of the update. Google has tried to help us figure out how to resolve it, but after two years we don't have a fix. Lots of other apps have the same issue. When get several million users 1-2% turns into a big number - 60,000+ users for each update.
I prefer quickmark
Bunch of choices, but Barcode Scanner seems to be the default. I think one of the team members works at Google.
Hi there, I've recently purchased a yotaphone 2 and am slowly getting to grips with it.
The first thing I've noticed is that the OS is Android 4.4.3, even though the manual specifies that it is 4.4.4!?
I obviously tried the system update but to no avail. Is anyone else on 4.4.3 or is it just me?
Also I again through the manual notice it mentions YotaNotes which sounds useful, but doesn't appear to be on my device?
Model: YD201
Build number: KTU84L.4.4.3-S01-003-EU1.0.3.61a
Any help appreciated.
Many thanks

Mine is running 4.4.3 too, I think it's the latest version available as of now. Where in the manual did you read that it should run 4.4.4? In the French version of the manual, at least, the only reference to the Android version gives 4.4 Kitkat, nothing more precise.

I use Calibre, a nice ebook management freeware, to manage/convert my whole ebook collection on my PC. I usually convert everything to the epub format (I have a couple of Kindle and Kobo readers at home for the whole family), and have no issue to get them on YotaReader. Except, of course, that it won't sync with my Kobo, which is an annoyance.
I'm glad to read that you can sync the reading progress between the Kobo reader app & reader, during my initial tests I wasn't able to achieve this, so I'll try again now that I know it is possible.
